Lately I realized that while in the beginning of my drama addiction I was persistent and would go through a drama even though I wasn't enthusiastic, with time I have become more and more fastidious and unless I like a drama almost from the first 30 minutes, I simply drop it.
I know that many are a lot more courageous than me and once they start a drama, make it a point of honour to complete it.

What kind of viewer are you? Have you got a criterion to decide whether you want to keep on watching or drop the show?

I apologize in advance should the same question have been asked before. :)
In my earlier viewing experience I was much more willing to complete a drama. I don't know if it's because there was a sort of shiny new glow on the whole experience of watching Asian dramas or perhaps I wasn't jaded enough yet to bad makjang or wary enough of drama cliches. Probably all of that. But since I have over 50 dramas under my belt my tolerance level seems to have shifted and my eye is much more critical. I have never really examined having a set criteria, mental list or agenda when I drop a drama. But now that this question has come up I think it is this: Is the acting good or crap? Is the writing good or crap? Is it holding my interest or not? Is it keeping that exciting feeling within me that holds to the spirit and passion of when I first began watching my first drama and I couldn't close my laptop and anticipating the next episode? If it is boring me. If I feel I am wasting my time. If I see a repeated plot devise or tired behavior of characters fished from the sea of other dramas I've seen, I drop it like it's hot! But having said this, I still love dramas so the above has to be pretty bad for me to drop it and more importantly, I am glad that I have the experience now to know what to look for before I even begin. This experience cuts down on the drop list and wasted time.
Rita-chan! I have dropped some dramas (well more than some haha) but all for different reasons. For example, in my early drama addiction days I watched Binnie in one of his dramas, My Lovely SamSoon I think and I proceeded to follow him and watch his other dramas. I then dropped: The Snow Queen, and Ireland. Why? Because both are very dramatic stories that even if they succeed in teaching me something, they will succeed more in making me depress for more than three days after completion. Now, if a drama is dramatic like that, depending on several things I decide whether I watch it or not before venturing to later drop it. I also dropped IRIS, and it wasn't because I didn't like the story. It was because I was annoyed with the love between LBH and KTH. I don't know why, I just was very annoyed and couldn't make myself keep watching. So I dropped. And like that, I have dropped others. I think I dropped two Eric Moon dramas because I thought the drama was badly made. Although I love Eric Moon, my love for an actor is not enough to make me stay through the end hehe. I think I drop less now than at the beginning. Because I simply dont watch it past episode one if I dont like it. Is that also dropping it? lol. I guess it is. Then if so, my list needs editing. haha. ;)
Rita, I don´t even have a criteria for dropping dramas.

At the begining of my drama adventure I watched everything to the very last second.
Since a while I´m even dropping dramas that I really enjoy watching.

I hope my dropping habit will disappear soon.

I´m waiting for that drama that gives me back the endurance to watch even the worst drama to the end.

Hey, I watched a sucking drama like Playful Kiss till the end.
Good question and i often think about my dropping habits... When i was so new to dramas i was clueless and didnt do my hw in researching so i have watched a few bad ones. I felt like i had to complete each one i started even if i didnt like the characters or if i was bored out of my mind. Now after watching 100+ dramas i am so critical that i find my self dropping dramas if they dont catch me within the first 2 episodes. There have been dramas that have had really interesting summary's and because of that i try to stick it out till it gets to the good stuff but if i dont like a character i might drop it even half way wasting my time. I think from now on im going to stick to my 2 episode judgment so that i dont waste my time...
Aki-chan I liked Playful Kiss :p

Perhaps I shouldnt tell you this if Im going to recommend something for you, but if you trust unni (hehe) watch this drama:
Once Upon A Time In Saengchori
It's nice to find out I'm not alone. There are times when I read people stating "once I start something I make it a point to finish it" I can't deny of feeling a little guilty. It seems to apply so much to life in general that it makes me wonder if I'm just too whimsical to love until death do us part - out of the morbid metaphor, until the end credits appear. :p
A guilty conscience needs to confess, as someone above me quotes (for the work of art, turn to someone else). ;)
Possibly, as you all rightly said, time makes us demanding, and there's only this much the drama world can do. A couple of weeks ago I started watching a drama and dropped it after not even 5 minutes because the female lead was pouting. It's hard to describe this as a criterion, but... well... it just couldn't be watched. LOL

Wow, that's exactly what I have been experiencing too. Yes, I'm definitely going through a jaded phase. :D
Unni, I put it to my plan to watch list.

My netbooks sound system died and now I can´t watch anything.

Haha Rita-chan you make me laugh with the "turn to someone else" comment. I didnt even know which quote from Camus to pick, as you well know he is my favorite philosopher. :D There was another quote very interesting, ill share with you later.

As for the pouting I understand you 100% I was just watching Glowing She this morning and her over acting was making me want to drop, but for the second time in like more than 100 dramas, I watch something with the male lead and I have always wanted to watch him as lead. So, Im putting with it for a while longer... episode 3 going now, let's see... hahaha.
Jade is my name in some parts of the globosphere

@Aki-chan... great, you wont regret it. The drama is funnier than Jackie Chan :p

The thought of it makes me laugh.

Rita, you are great!

Unni, you know that I`m a Jacky Chan fan?

Is it with Lee Jun Ki?

Lmao *yes, as sad as it is, I'm laughing out loud at my own wit* :p
LMAO2 No is not with Junki but a joke was intended there somewhere between funnier, and Jackie Chan. On a more serious tone, the drama is the one I wrote a recommendation/review for in ddramatards. You left a comment, remember? lol. I might be asking too much hahaha... :p
