Ah, so 'Goong' happened to be the first K-Drama I watched :D And I love it. I like all the characters especially the 2 main leads- Shin Chae Gyung (Yoon Eun Hye) and Lee Shin (Joo Ji Hoon). Though it is based on the manhwa with the same title, I feel the drama is better than the manhwa.

Have you watched this? Do you plan to?

Goong was wildly popular at the time of it's airing. It's a cute show and has it's moments. This is the 2nd drama I ever watched and I have fond memories. Is it the greatest drama I've ever watched? ...it's cute and has it's moments. But I can completely understand why so many would find it appealing and I do love Yoon Eun Hye. I am an admitted fan. I think this show is more appealing and geared toward a younger audience but I'm glad I watched. At the time, the premise was new and fresh. I'd never seen a show like this before. Goong is my first Kdrama, too.

I need to say that the manwha is better in many ways, but nevertheless I`ll never regret watching Goong 5 times.
The whole feelng it gave me was great and though where were some silly situations.
Yoon Eun Hye`s acting was great I love that woman and she is my age.

Well, the manhwa has a decent start. I like the art and the details the artist has put into the traditional dresses and stuffs to show Korean culture. Everything goes well until it gets too melodramatic and depressing somewhere from Ch.110 or so. And it is still ongoing if I am right. The author has stretched the story so much that it is kind of a drag now (according to me). So, for me the drama is better. Though it also has too much melodrama in the last few episodes, it is alright since it is compensated by the cute ending ♥
And about YEH's acting, I agree :D I haven't seen her other dramas like Coffee Prince but I can say she is an awesome actress. So is Song Ji Hyo. I think nobody else could fit Hyorin's role better than her.
I've never seen Goong. Should I watch it, and why?:P
And if I like Goong what shows are similar to it?
i never got a chance to read the Manwha and after reading all of your replies i am deciding may be i should..

i really like main lead chemistry :) but i expected more from the ending .. they were some cliches and silly scenes in the drama - but i still like it.. am a big fan of Yoon Eun Hye and i loved her in it <3

Yeah, you should watch it if are a fan of romantic comedy =D And Goong is not just your ordinary romantic comedy. It has so much more into it. It has a unique storyline and what I like the best about it is the fusion of modernization and tradition :P There are some characters which are easy to love and some which are easy to hate. Lol. So, just give it a try :)
Shows similar to Goong? Umm, there is a spin-off called 'Goong S'. It has nothing to do with Goong. The cast is entirely different and it is called 'Prince Hours'. I haven't watched it but I think I'll in the future. Other than Goong S, I guess 'Full House' is somewhat similar to it. A guy and a girl try to break the relationship between a guy and a girl. It's kinda similar :P

Really? o.o Okie, I'll watch it then :D
yes it is ... it is similar yet different .. :) i like both ..
Actually I first read the manhwa then found out the series had a live-action. I can't say I like one better than the other..I just enjoy both. And there are indeed many differences between them.
I thought this drama was quite good and started off very well. I just couldn't like all the angst in the episodes at the end when it seemed they were never going to learn how to communicate with each other... However, there were many cute scenes to compensate for that.

Another thing I didn't like was Lee Yul's character. I'm sorry if there are great fans of his here, but I just find he was so annoying! He was just so wimpy and then stirrig up trouble... He had her reasons but still I just couldn't stand him! Oh well, I'm not a fan of love triangles so maybe that's why I didn't like him. It's just that after watching Goong I watched "Witch Yoo Hee" and Kim Jeong Hoon played a very similar character there as well - or actually, I hated that character even more. Is there any drama where he's the hero? If there is I should watch it and get over my antagonism for that poor actor, it's just the roles he's been playing that I didn't like... :P

What I really liked in this drama was how they showed that Chaegyung missed her home and couldn't adapt the Palace life that easily. And I just loved the title "bigung mama"! X)
He had HIS reasons! Edit button - please!!!
Goong fangirls - steer away.

I pretty much found it sucky. It started off pretty well, but I just can't STAND Eun Hye. I watched her in Coffee Prince as well, and I had to force myself to finish both the dramas. I just don't like her. The Prince was a plain during the whole drama, and Lee Yul.. I don't even know where to start. The actor was cute I guess, but the character was HORRIBLE. Annoying, blind and just bleeeh. And what's the deal with the ending? *DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT* His sister just becomes the queen? Easy as that? W-t-f? Not to mention Yul and his mother. After fighting so hard, they just took off? No one tried punishing them for what they did? AND WHAT ABOUT THE ROMANCE BETWEEN SHIN AND CHAEGYUNG'S FRIENDS!? D:< It was clearly implied, and I was waiting for that. T.T Awkward love is great, and it could have saved the drama for me. >_>
