I usually used to stay away from older dramas (before 2007) because the fashion/hairstyles or cheesy music was distracting or even the plot/story was too much.

But after watching all the best modern dramas and trying out older dramas of actors/actresses im interested in, i've come across some older dramas with good writing and amazing acting that i feel could rival a lot of the newer dramas with crappy acting and storytelling.

So what are some older dramas you've found that not a lot of people have seen but you feel it has that something that will capture others if they just gave it a chance?

Mine are :

Queen of the Game (2006) http://mydramalist.com/korean-drama/1173/queen-of-the-game

Goodbye Solo (2006)

Punch (2003)

LOL, 2006 is old? ;)

I will have to repeat myself here, since some of my most frequent recommendations include... ancient dramas, lol.

Strawberry on the shortcake (2001)
Long Love Letter (2002)
Stand Up!! (2003)
Tokyo Wankei (2004)
Orange Days (2004)
Pride (2004)

There are others I haven't watched but are on my to-watch list. :)

I felt like that too Rita when I came across people referring to dramas made in the last decade as old (oh...actually referring to it as in the last decade does make it sound old now lol), but I don't think they are that ancient to be fair, though when you watch them you're able to tell things have changed significantly since those days despite not really being that long ago. Meteor Garden is a prime example, it's one of my favourites but a lot of people are put off by their attire. At least my best friend couldn't bring herself to watch it or rather take it seriously due to their out dated clothing. I just found it funny as opposed to it actually bothering me and at first I didn't even take any notice of what they were wearing or it having become antiquated even. I always miss these things :P.

LOL, that's true. I love MG too, but I have to admit the clothes and hairstyles they sport at times can be quite rush-provoking, hahaha.
I suppose the music is a huge factor too, that's why I usually prefer for dramas to use instrumental pieces, which are timeless.
Hugs, Shika! ;)
Love Generation (Japanese 1997) A sleeping Forest (Japanese 1998) Beautiful Life (Japanese 2000) Keizoku (Japanese 1999) All About Eve (Korean 2000) That's all for now:-)

haven't watched Tokyo Wankei and Orange Days, but else than that..i agree..
i also wanted to add some other jdramas, because jdramas before 2007 are awesome, imo..
but then i realized..it's a korean dramas&movies thread..lol...so

so for korean...i like
18 vs 29 (2005)
wonderful life (2006)

else than that,,i think not really under rated..most people know them...like:
hwang jin yi (2006)
choon hyang (2006)
full house (2004)
jewel in the palace (2003)
autumn tale (2000)
Haven't notice..mianhe:-(
When I started the Kdrama Classics threads my guideline was 5 years and older. I will stick with that same guideline here. And some are underrated in the drama world but mostly on MDL as I see a very small minority liking and watching these. (or at least being vocal about it) Rondo 9 Ends 2 Outs Biscuit Teacher & Star Candy Dal Ja's Spring Pride Que Sera Sera Soul Mates What's Up Fox That's all for now!
^ oh~ i love dalja's spring a lot! my most fav drama about noona-dongsaeng love so far.. <3

I know what you mean...I also loved MG despite their look and so.
I feel that the "old" dramas are in ways better than the "new" ones...they center more on the story itself and bring more feelings to it.I can't lie...I loke the actual ones too but sometimes they piss me of with all the music and clothes because it oftens happens that the story is overcome by things which shouldn't be that important!

Some of my favorite "old" dramas are:
1. 100 Days with Mr. Arrogant(2004)
2. 200 Pounds Beauty(2006)
3. Goong(2006)
4. It started with a kiss(2005)
5. Gokusen(2002)
6. Devil beside you(2005)
7. Full House(2004)
8. Hana yori dango(2005)
9. Kimi wa Petto(2003)
10.Meteor Garden(2001)
11.MARS(2004)

I think i should stop:))...Anyway in my opinion the new dramas/movies should learn some things from the "old" ones

I love that too..It's used to be on my Favorite list..but it got replaced by Love Shuffle...but I almost cried when I'm deleting it..and replacing by Love Shuffle...

What's Up Fox? is also good...

I want to add:

All About Eve (2000)
Dear Heaven (2005)
Tree of Heaven (2006)
Stairway to Heaven (2003) If i remember it right, it made Skye flow some MANLY TEARS
Lovers in Paris (2004)
My Rosy Life (2005)
i think its better to only put good old dramas that is atleast only seen by not more than a 100 users had seen here
