Dont know why but I decided to watch this drama and I am now on ep 10 so as it is a classic I thought I would make a thread for it.

* I chose to post this pic cos the lead guy later on has orange hair ....as this is from 2002 I think he probably started this trend for orange hair buhahahahaha

Synopsis

Winter Sonata is a South Korean television drama series broadcast by KBS in 2002. It is the second part of the Endless Love instalment.

I was wary of how much to put here as I don't want to give any spoilers so I have copied and pasted the blurb on the MDL page (be warned that other sites post major spoilers in their synopsis)

Joon-sang moves to a new high school in search for his biological father. Yu-jin and Sang-hyuk are close childhood friends, although Sang-hyuk wants to be more than a friend, Yu-jin sees him as a brother. On a trip together with other high school mates, Oh Chelin , Jin-suk and Yong-kuk , Yu-jin is saved after an accident by Joon-sang. They become close and she opens up his cold heart. However, circumstances and fate dictate that their love will never be. He abruptly disappears from their lives. Ten years later, the old High School buddies gather to celebrate Yu-jin and Sang-hyuk's soon-to-be wedding. Yu-jin, who was deeply in love with Joon-sang, still has a fire in her heart for him. But at the party, Oh Chelin's new boyfriend arrives, who appears the same as Joon-sang.

Nobody else has commented? Haha.

What did you think of this drama? I don't have it on my list, probably won't add it unless you think it's really worth watching (:
oops I thought I came & commented when I finished but I must have forgotten... yeah I guess as its quite an old drama not many people would be interested in watching it....I think I gave it a 6...its really slow paced & at times it can get frustrating the ending wasn't what I expected which was a good thing I suppose...but I did finish it & wasn't tempted to drop it so that is something in its favour :D I dont know if I would recommend it only if you are a fan of the main actors or like slow paced dramas i guess.

I'm fine with watching older dramas as long as overall it's good (: But a 6 doesn't sound promising to me at all haha. Since I have so many dramas to watch I don't think I'll add it. If you had given it a 9 or a 10 I'd probably reconsider :p]

I looked through your list and I saw that our taste is quite similar. I gave Winter Sonata a 9, but maybe I was a bit subjective since it is my first "modern" drama. Until WS I watched just historical dramas. But if you like melodramas you should try it. You can drop it if you don't find a reason to like it.

I like melodramas if they're done well, but I might wait to add this later. My PTW list is still ridiculous =__=
Hi, I'm very new on here and I watched for the first time Winter Sonata a couple of months ago. It was my first K drama and I was completely blown away by it. The drama was intense and melodramatic but I was still captivated by it and fell in love with Bae Yong Joon or should I say his character :) Anyway, I normally don't like heavy drama or intense love triangles and this show had both but in my opinion it was handled well and the story was compelling enough to let me see it through. The acting from the cast was superb. I cried through alot in this series and I guess that left me the deep emotional impact I felt towards this series as it will now stay as my all time favorite. Anyway, I'm now completely addicted to K and J dramas and I have so far seen a few K dramas and a couple have been fantastic such as City Hunter and You're Beautiful.
This one is on my list. I think I shall keep it on there since I'm seeing mostly positive feedback on it. :D
One of the SUPERB drama i've ever seen. This one is worth watching. For all those people who's hopeless romantic and a melodramas fanatic, this is for the drama for us. :)
