I love your parents! it so fun hearing about how you sit next to them knowing full well what is going to happen and you get to watch them experience it for the first time. So fun! How do you keep your mouth shut? I think you might have to duck tape my mouth closed, I'd be so tempted to make comments as I was watching.

Have you made any suggestions to your parents yet on what they should watch next? And also...Do they know they have a mini fan club here on MDL? Ha! Thanks for the installment! Can't wait for next week...

awh fanx jeanie! I do sometimes find it hard to keep my mouth closed - but I just generally just comment on things that they need to take note of for future reference, or remind them of bits which help to explain what's going on. sometimes mum will say 'pause it a minute' then ask a question - and I'll fill in the blanks for her - but not if by doing so there is any hint of what's to come! (which mum finds really frustrating, because she wants to know how it will turn out before she watches it!)

I shared all the suggestions. and we have made a decision! the three of us are going to go straight into Bad Guy - I asked mum whether she would be able to cope with the extremely emotional side (i remember crying lots), but she said 'if your dad will like the twists and turns, and as long as you and I can watch something light hearted in the week, then I will be OK'! YaY!!
as for the me-and-mum watch (on a tuesday night) she has decided that she must watch more of Yoon Sung! To which I replied 'his name is Lee Minho.....' which she then repeated over and over, as if to cement in her head. (I fully expect her to have googled him for pictures by now) although I'd like to widen her range of [gorgeous] korean actors (hello hyun bin), I'm willing to give her this one - there is lots of time ahead. so Personal Taste it is!

I'm going round to her's tonight, so she can rewatch ep 3&4! I sent her the link to the forum, so we'll see about getting her in here! ;)
Abs, did you like Bad Boy a lot? I have been very hesitant to watch it because I read too much about the episodes and I'm spoiled for the ending. I know it goes a little wonky at the end.

Too bad we can't force you to do "Abs watches Dramas with her Parents" for every thing you watch!!!! Mwuahahahaha!

Oh, you should watch it jeanie - give it a go at least. I absolutely loved it! as for the end - there are two trains of thought, and I subscribe to the more optimistic of them! ^^

hahaha - well, considering how much fun it is, I might end up writing up what we watch next as well! arf arf arf . . . [wanders off to see if we have a bad guy thread]
I am splitting this over 2 posts, 'cause I'm not allowed to post 5 pics in one ^^

>mother's favourite City Hunter scenes - part one<

She told me last night that her list of favourite scenes is growing, but then she rattled off what's on there so far::

#1 - the kiss

#2 - on the stairs, knocks hat off baddie - then beats him up

#3 - YS grabs NNs hand from behind (plus holding her a little later in that scene)
>mother's favourite City Hunter scenes - part two<

#4 - following NN grabbing YS and pulling him into a room at the blood bank, him turning around and slamming her against the wall

#5 - playing around in the water falls (because he's really smiling and laughing)

I'm still working on her to join so she can post stuff like this - we'll get there eventually ^^
Another Sunday rolls around, and mum and dad show up for the next installment of City Hunter

Having had a rough weekend, we agree to just watch the one episode tonight. I read them the review I posted here, and subsequent comments (which they love btw), and we settle ourselves in for episode 13.

YS & NN coming out of the lift, with their shopping trolley of goodies, and mum says 'awhh, look, that's so sweet - they look just like a regular couple!', we had to watch the first scene a couple of times, because mum wanted to confirm that their trolley was deliberately smashed into 'how'd Jin Pyo know that she'd chase after the tomatoes anyway?'

YS, smashes the glass and hauls NN out of the way, while Jin Pyo demonstrates he has the power to kill her at any time. mum says 'oh, yeah - that's right, you can recognise his dad - on a bike, with his helmet on - but it took you 10 flipping episodes to recognise YS was the City Hunter!!!!!!' [arf arf arf] 'awhhhh - they both don't want the other to be hurt because of them' following the 'to do' in the car when YS actually shouts at NN to 'shut up!' [mum commentating that it's unusual for him to loose his rag and shout at her]. He carries ALL the shopping in, and she says 'that's such a man thing, your Dad does that, always takes all the shopping, wont have any help'

Mum really enjoys the bit between YS & NN when he's being all 'as long as you're OK, you think that's everything is fine?!' and she's all 'why can't I be someone who can protect you' then into 'you think I'm really cool right now eh!?' - awhhhh, it's so sweet, I hope she doesn't get hurt!

The fact that the prosecutor's dad just lies through his teeth at every turn, is really frustrating - and they continue to feel more and more sorry for the prosecutor - being taken off the case, faced with blocks at every turn, and his dad being exposed as a baddie. Poor guy. When he uses the bug to trap YS, mum can't get her head around why he's still gunning for him - why can't he see that the CH isn't bad, and just join together with him?? my gym?!]

ajussi's discovery of the mother is met with relief, but it's a shame the other bodyguard is so oblivious to the fact that it's ajussi not YS that likes her. Mum think the 'nerd' co-worker is really well cast 'I mean, come on, just look at his competition!'

and then - of course - there's the startling attack on ajussi! mum kept saying (like a mantra) throughout this sequence 'he's not dead, he's not dead, he's not dead, he's not dead'. Then we watch as YS panic turns into a mini melt down, and he smashes the mirror in frustration. The shot of his eyes was met with 'Is that Yoon Sung?? He looks like a totally different person!

It's a shame for NN when she finds out the truth of the prosecutors dad. During the whole sequence between the dad and YS on the bridge, my mum keeps urging YS to remember that he's not a bad person, that he's always been the rescuer - that he can't possibly kill him, he's not like that - but the more pressing problem now is that the prosecutor will think YS killed his dad - any chance of them joining forces is fast disappearing.

Noooooooooo.

=-=-=-=-=-=
and by way of forewarning. As dad is now working away from home, they said that from this week on we'll only be able to watch CH together every other weekend. I had to take my mum in hand when she sheepishly suggested [i]she
could still continue to watch it - 'no mum, we are watching this all together with dad!'. The compromise being that she and I will continue to watch it together for a second time (she's on episodes 5&6 tonight), and when she's caught up to where dad is, we will watch something else together!
Abs I'm so jealous of any, you get to watch Korean dramas with your parents, I don't even get to watch with my siblings yet :D
Hello everyone. I'm still enjoying watching City Hunter, we've only got three eps to go! Oh no what will we do????

Jeanie asked me what I thought of Lee Jin Pyo, evil dad or handsome ahjussi? I got to say that I think that he's a bit of both especially when he's wearing black!! The last shot of him back to back with YS was just the best. The next few days will be the longest of my life as Abs won't let me watch anymore until a week on Sunday. Can you believe it? What sort of a daughter have I got!

right mother (sorry, OMMA), need I remind you that the reason we're waiting until next Sunday is because YOU ARE AWAY THIS WEEKEND!! YOU - not ME!! kuh. honestly.

and don't forget, we're planning to do your very first dramafest THAT Sunday. and TRUST me when I tell you - you will want to watch all of the last episodes in one go!
I'm only making you wait because I love you

xx
(^_^)
hehehe! Mother/Daughter squables! Potato/Potahto!

The dynamic between Yoon Sung and Jin Pyo is intense and puzzling to the last...but it never becomes boring. That is for sure. I love Yoon Sung's conflict and how well paced this show is at revealing hidden mysteries and truths in a way that keeps things popping. Not only to we get to watch the characters be surprised but then the writers turn around and surprise the audience as well! I love it when a show doesn't treat it's audience as stupid.

And speaking of...might I make a suggestion? If you have enjoyed the intensity and adventure of City Hunter, you should try A Tree With Deep Roots. Without spoiling anything; This show centers around King Sejong of Joseon who created the Hangul alphabet that Korean's use today. He created their written language. He was one of those incredibly creative and rennaissance Kings who come along every great once in a while and advocate for the arts and sciences, for literacy and progression, for a peaceful solution to country and people. The writers of this show have really pulled out all the stops to place a very creative, tense and well written mystery into this mix of this King's reign. It is crazy good!
Oh I can't wait to see what happens next with YS and JP as it was great seeing them stand 'back to back' taking on the baddies, don't mess with YS that's what I say. But "COME ON YOU GUYS WORK TOGETHER!" you know you love each other really. But we did see a little bit of a clip afterwards so we know that they don't die! At least not YET. Abs made a passing comment as I was leaving though, something about buying a box of tissues for our next installments!!! I said, "Oh No" and she just looked at me with her poker face, giving nothing away as usual. It's a case of bamboo down her fingernails to give me anymore info and then she probably wouldn't.

Hang in there! No one ever promised the ride would be a smooth one. One thing you can be sure of is, you will never be bored. 1/2 the fun is in the discovering! But I'm sure I don't have to tell you. Reading abs recaps and your excitement brings back how it felt when we were all watching and posting here like crazy! (before the russian hacker deleted our original thread.) Good thing though...We were a bit spoilery in our discussions at the time. This is the one Kdrama where when it was all said and done...I wanted a season 2. Not because they left loose ends but because I just didn't want City Hunter to end. Your daughter picked a perfect drama for you to start with!

The COME ON YOU GUYS, WORK TOGETHER sentiment is how I felt about YS and Prosecutor. They were working towards the same goal but couldn't see eye to eye on the method to get there! Every interaction was so frought with tension and possibility!

When do you get to watch the next episode?

Jajajaja yeah I always thought the same! I always like come on, just team up!!! But you'll soon see what happens and I hope you won't be disappointed! And then you'll thank abs that she didn't tell you anything, because it would be very boring if you already knew what was going to happen! Specially on City Hunter with so many twists! I hope you keep posting, your posts always make me laugh a lot xP
Oh guys this is not good. I come back from work and do I cook the tea, do the ironing, tidy up the garden? NO I head for the computer to see what's being going on today! Good job "hubby" is away, things will have to change when he gets back. Anyway, you're so right about YS and the Prosecutor they definitely should get it together and work as a team. But the script writers have done an excellent job as casting them as rivals and the way that they stare each other out, WOW! The contest of who's going to look away first! NOT ME. In fact I think that we should lobby the production teams of Kdrama so that YS and the Prosecutor could have their own drama series - fighting off crime all over Seoul. Yep that would do it for me.

As abs would say... "I'd be well chuffed to see that!" They could call it "City Hunters"...plural! NaNa could be their girl friday and Prosecutor's ex wife could be their Doctor...for when they need patching up after a rough fight! *sigh* I wish I didn't already have so many new dramas on my plate. Sometimes I have such a huge urge to watch this again.
