Hello!! I'm actually curious in watching Hwarang or not but I'm not sure if it's worth to waste my time. I can tolerate some cliché moments but if it is too much, I think I'm going to drop it. I also like it when there's an interesting plot. I'm also scared that when I reach the mid-end of the drama, it gets loose. So do you recommend me to still watch it or not? If not, what can you suggest me to watch? Thank you very much :)

I just completed watching HWARANG...............I watched it because I like PARK HYUN SHIK.................the story will make you eager to find the relations between the main casts...............the tracks are something that made me hear several times.............but in my case I got angry with the storyline as well................

hope this will help you.......@honey_boo

Not sure how objective I am when it comes to that drama (it was one of my first) but I loved it and found it really interesting while watching. Ah Ro as a character was annoying (I also didn't like the whole romance aspect) but Ji Dwi's story and bromance is what made it good IMO.

Personally it was not so great.

Firstly reason is the main couple, there was no reason and pull for me to root for tbe main leads and their. They just felt so flat. The story could have done without their weird romance and interactions. Then there was the story/narrative itself, which had some awkward plot and scenes. I just did not connect with the plot or the stakes of the drama. Lastly there was the acting. It had its cuteness, but there were lots of awkwardness.

 overall this is probably mediocre.

The thing i did love from this drama is the bromance. From whichever angle i laughed and giggled at the main Hwarangs. Plus they were all eye candies, so if you are up for those, then probably you need to watch this drama cause there were plenty. And lastly the secondary couple, with the romeo-juliet type cliche. They were darn cute.

I actually really like bromance in dramas such as My Country so I'll give it a try thanks!

Mmm interesting, from reading what you've written I feel like I will have the same opinions. I can see how the main romance can make the drama awkward but the whole bromance thing makes me curious so I will give it a try thank you :)

I'll say watch it if you want to drool over faces, otherwise, plot wise, it wasn't that great and didn't leave any lasting impact on me as other historical dramas of relatively similar scenarios did. All in all, this drama popularity came most from the stardom and less from the story itself.

I saw the cast and I understood how it became popular. What I am the most concerned about is actually the plot because personally for me, if it's not that good and unoriginal, I would drop it. If there are interesting characters and interesting relationships between the characters, it would actually help me to continue to watch it. So do you still suggest me to watch or not? (thanks for your response btw)

Plot will seem interesting only at the beginning but, that usual queen crown prince and kingdom conflicts. Nothing usual. Personally, I'm not a fan of love triangles and here two of well known faces were involved in a futile useless love triangle which also I found hard to digest.

Female lead was good, not much annoying. But those pretty faces in the drama, tbh that were not required at all. That made my opinion totally biased. Hwarang itself means pretty faces maybe, but I remember I dropped the drama in between because of some boring unnecessary conflicts.

But its just my opinion, so if you'd just read other people's reviews also and then consider your decision, maybe you'd like watching it.

I've always found underrated dramas more loveable than famous ones. My taste is always satisfied by watching those kdramas which are hidden gem and give me something to learn also. I've dropped many famous dramas, with few really good exceptions, but all in all, famous dramas most of the times, from my long kdramas watching experience, have something going wrong with them from the start which always made me lose interest, and so I didn't understand the real reason why audience even watches kdrama when they don't even want good plots to watch.

They only want to watch pretty handsome faces.

Sorry, if I came off as rude because that's just my frustration speaking, since not many kdramas with good plot come anymore.

@Little Cherry

Thanks again for your response, I feel like I agree with you even tho I started watching Kdramas from not a really time ago. The more dramas I watch, the less originality I see which is kind of sad so no you're not being rude at all, it's just your opinion which everyone should respect. I also get the fact about how underrated dramas can be a treasure in a way.

I'll give a try watching Hwarang and if I don't feel the plot then I'll probably drop it. Honestly it always depends ahaha but yeah I'll still try. If you would like to know about my opinions about the drama, I can update it if you want in this forum :)

+1 for these takes. I was surprised because I've liked all of the main cast members in other dramas and I like historical dramas with similar plots, but this one really wasn't enjoyable for me.
