I’m having MEGA withdrawls from this drama. Although it’s a drama filled with common tropes and cliches it stil managed to pull at the heartstrings and also provide great romance. I loved jang couple . I wish they worked together again because that chemistry is too great to not be used for another rom com.

It’s a light hearted watch but I was stuck to the tv for hours. Watching the first half for 10 hours. I know so terrible of me but its so addicting that I had to give it my full attention.

I miss old dramas and how they used to be. Even though the quality of dramas have improved dramatically , I still miss the old ones. Ones where you could fit a thousand storylines/tropes into a single episode of a 16 episode drama. I guess we might as well call these ones makjang but oh well. I think it doesn’t attract viewers now as it did back then. Primarily due to streaming sites and how most people now a days don’t really watch TV.

please help me find a drama like this one. One where the chemistry is believable and the dynamics between the characters are funny.

Please do not recommend dramas like what’s wrong with secretary Kim/ her private life/ run on/ shopaholic Louis/ marriage not dating.

also  not a fan of these actors :

Gong hyojin, Han jimin, so hyunjin, seo yeji, Kim junghyun,

I adored Fated To Love You too and I miss old K-romances as well, I tried so newer ones post 2016 I just couldn't like them, She was Pretty, Shopaholic Louis, Another Miss Oh and others I just didn't like them and found them overrated, I either find the FL's incredible annoying or just don't like the actors who played the ML  or the story for some reason, they just don't feel like the older ones. Nowadays it Korea is barely producing pure romances anymore because they aiming to look more like western shows it seems or more modern/realistic looking which is boring to me.

Amazing chemistry, with all of these, most of these are older though

The Master's Sun

All About My Romance

City Hall

Which Star Are You From?

Heart To Heart

Golden Bride (an older long family drama but the couple was adorable, lots of skinship, really loving towards each other and never broke up, nice male lead, comedy, melodrama, the main couple is the only worthy OTP watching, the secondary couples I just skip them but I  still really enjoy the drama as a whole.)

Dr. Gang (maybe not for everybody, but for the year 2006 it just seem like different kind of drama, for starters because of the ML, I love it though because of it and the romance was really well done I thought.)

Mr Back (low rated and it seem many people didn't like it for some reason, I really liked it and Jang Nara was adorable in it as well.)

hi , thanks for responding.

I think most of us do miss old dramas but they won’t return. Since squid game has amassed international  attention . I think directors will be looking at this and taking a book from their page in order to achieve the same level of popularity. It’s quite sad because I started watching dramas because they included these absolutely ridiculous tropes and also the romance was not like western shows where they all sleep with each other. It shows how the leads gradually fall in love, the process, from liking one another, going crazy over each other, not admitting their obvious feelings, holding hands and then kissing.

I tried masters sun but I have an aversion for gong hyojin. I can’t seem to watch anything she’s in I don’t know why. I’ve tried to watch her dramas but never seem to pull through and in the end drop it.

Out of all those which one do you think i should begin first. I’m so indecisive sorry lol

Yes, I undetstand the thing about  Gong Hyojin she is not everybody's taste, honestly the only drama I have like in is Master's Sun, which was my first of hers, in all her other dramas I've seen her in she is pretty much the same character and with same expressions, so I don't really understand those who are huge fans of hers, I don't disliked her but she is just so-so for me,  I do think her acting suited the character in MS  better and had good chemistry with the ML but since then I tried her other dramas and of kind don't want to see in anything for a long time.

I would say maybe start with a classic Which Star Are You From?  it's simple, with cute bickering couple who kind of starts on friendly terms, then ML not wanting to accept his feelings, family disagreeing  the relantionship and all of that.

Or maybe  lesser known classic City Hall  which it's a bit more grown up since the leads are older, the chemistry was really good, starts more rom-com- becomes more melo as it goes on,  then a very  happy ending. I loved them like that, it makes the love story better for me, I love seeing the OTPs slowly falling for each other, being happy and cute, but also suffer for their love, missing, wanting to be with each other so bad and finally get their happy ending. It seems like a lot people don't really like these kinds of love stories anymore, they want more "realistic" stories, or just pure fluff with no drama at all. I want dramas to entertain me but also to give all the feelings,  in my fiction I want all kinds of romances, nice, complicated, happy, tragic, cuteness, sadness but still in their have their own innocent way, even if it's unrealistic at times. Nowadays they might talk not that great  about some these older dramas for all sorts of reasons and I disagree, to me older dramas felt more real and special and yes many full of cliches, and dramatics but so what? it's fiction, jusy want some really good romances to love and enjoy.

Making Yours - collab movie  between korea and china. Its a very similar story just this time its the little kid who looks for his parent. Its a super fun, very adorable movie. Highly recommended.

And if you also are into webtoons I would like to recommend you the webtoon "Positively Yours". Its nearly the exact same story as Fated to love you. Very funny and cute to read :)
