I watched 'The Rose' and it fried my motherboard.  It was so bad, so twisted, and yet so mesmerizing and so kilig that I couldn't tear myself away from it.  I wish I could get amnesia so I could watch it for the first time again.  I've looked for other dramas like this... crazy, dark, and half of you is horrified, while the other half of you is swooning.  Little did I know at the time how rare that kind of magic is!

Other dramas I've found that remind me of that "I shouldn't like this but I do" quality I'm searching for:

Devil Beside You

Que Sera Sera

The Smile Has Left Your Eyes

What are your personal favorite toxic, obsessive, taboo, twisted, or just plain crazy romances?

(Happy endings preferred)

Oh haha you make me curious now about Que Sera Sera. XD Oh and The Smile has left your eyes (korean version) is a pretty okey drama. The japanese version I'd consider more to be a "shouldn't like it drama"

Guilty Pleasure for me are dramas that try to breach the norm and go far beyond what we consider happy go lucky. One example hereby is 3 Iron. This drama is so strange? disturbing? shocking? It makes you truly wonder about society and people but it is so completely different and well done.
A true guilty pleasure

Que sera sera = there are a few scenes in there that are !!! imo.  The whole drama isn't straight fire, but there are some payoff scenes in there that make it worth the watch.  Eric Mun is one of the best kissers in kdrama as far as i'm concerned, and he suited the QSS ML role well.  Watching Eric Mun play a subdued role is like being in the passenger seat of a Ferrari that's going 20mph.  Well there were a few places in QSS where they let him just floor it.

Mask - Fl looks a lot like ml's fiancé. And when his fiancé passes away, fl assumes her identity.

Romance - Relationship between student and teacher.

That Winter the Wind Blows - Ml tries to scam fl by pretending to be her long lost brother (fl is blind so cannot recognize him from his face). They fall in love while fl still believes him to be her brother.

Three Dads One Mom - Very lighthearted in comparison to the others. The three mls all donate sperm because the fl's husband is infertile. Fl becomes pregnant and then her husband passes away. So the three mls don't know who the father of her child is. (She is not aware that they donated sperm). Spoiler for the ending, because it's a bit unusal, if you want to know, otherwise skip: fl ends up with all three of them.

Loving Never Forgetting - Ml is veeery controlling and possessive.

King's Woman - Ml is extremely controlling and basically forces the fl into a relationship with him.

Well Intended Love - Ml tricks fl into believing that she has leukemia and that he is the only available donor. He strikes a deal that he will donate to her if she agrees to marry him. He tricks her into marrying him.

Bumping this to the top- to see if we could get more recommendations

Thanks!  I've heard a lot about Well Intended Love, and that spoiler just cracks me up, I will end up watching that soon, but honestly I'm not expecting it to live up to the Rose tho.

Thai-dramas are my guilty pleasures! So much redemption for bad boy ML's and always a crazy af 2nd FL.  These are the dramas I recommend:

F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers  - The best remake of BOF so far. The eye candy alone makes it worth watching.

My Forever Sunshine  - Mark Prin makes any drama he is in worth watching. This is a classic enemies-to-lovers story.

My Husband in Law  - Forced marriage to keep the ML (Mark Prin again) safe.

Full House  - Another remake but IMO is even better than the Korean version. Contract marriage that, of course, leads to more. Mike D'Angelo at the top of his game.

Irresistible  - This drama should be watched simply for the chemistry between the MC and oh yes for the jaw-dropping effect it causes in almost every episode. Cray cray 2FL is way over the top. IRL she would be in a mental institution or prison.

Return The World To You was definitely a train wreck that I couldn't turn away from! Hidden identity with face transplants and so much more.  It was a mess and I was there for every minute of it!

My guilty pleasure is the train wreck known as Nevertheless, the chemistry gets me every time!

Friends with benefits,  jealousy,  love triangle,  happy ending is subject to debate based on which ml you like the most!

FACE TRANSPLANTS!!!  Oh my goodness, now this I have to see.  TY for recc :)

autumn’s concerto

Loving never forgetting

These are my fav guilty pleasure romances

of course the ever so famous Hana Yori Dango (jap version & taiwan version) - omg very cringe drama, ML is abusive, toxic and possessive, but the chemistry is top notch (17 years since and there's always dating rumors for both of them-jdrama) and it's quite an interesting drama

My Love from another star - cliche story, many said FL is narcissistic and arrogant,  but both leads have sizzling chemistry, and cheon seong yi is just iconic and pure comedy

The Rose is one of my guilty pleasures too! I love that train wreck of a show.

The Empress of China: Way too long and I usually hate harem dramas with the ridiculous fighting between the women but I loved this one.

Kenja no Ai: Pretty dark revenge story but the revenge was so satisfying!

Love and Fortune: A student/adult relationship that was so realistic/well written it makes you feel bad for enjoying the show. Also had great cinematography.

These are great reccs, they all look pretty promising.  I have to ask though, on Kenja no Ai... I notice the plot synopsis is talking about flashback sequences.  How annoyed to I have to prepare to be in order to watch this one?

I didn't think there were that many but flashbacks don't bother me unless I am seeing the same scenes repeatedly. And the show description does say they are elaborate so I could just be misremembering.
