Since Netflix started to split dramas into multiple seasons it should be possible to list those under one entry. It's nonsensical to rate the first 8 episodes of a 16 episode drama (My First First Love, Love Alarm etc.) This just makes it impossible to compare the ratings of split and regular dramas. It is different when following seasons have stand alone story lines, however if the second season picks up right where the first season left off, both seasons should be rated as a single drama.

I think that deciding the difference will become less objective. Who decides which season counts as separate one? There are many dramas with a lot of episodes, that still continue from where they stopped in the previous season and there are other mini dramas that you don't know if they will eventually have a second season. This is only possible  to be certain with some dramas (mostly Netfix Originals) that we already know will have the second half.

If a drama's story line spans multiple seasons it only makes sense to treat them all as one drama. You also don't need to know beforehand whether there are going to be multiple seasons, just list them accordingly once it's clear. This is also common practice for western TV shows. Think about it, nobody treats the different seasons of GoT as separate shows either. You've got one entry (eg. on imdb) for all seasons.  Separate entries should only exist for dramas were following seasons have independent story lines, for example Nirvana in Fire 1 + 2. Otherwise dramas with multiple seasons have skewed ratings compared to shows that finish in one season. It's like comparing the first or second half of one drama with a complete drama - it's unfair. You're a comparing a half-finished product to a finished one.

But when you'll have many actors from different seasons in the cast (sometimes playing the same character) and the list will be even longer than usual and more confusing. Besides this means merging all existent pages of shows with multiple seasons in one and that's A LOT of shows...Not to mention that the discussion section will be a mess , since there will be people commenting different seasons contemporarily.

I admit, the transition will not be a small process. Like you pointed out, the discussion section and, even worse, the reviews must be merged. The current ratings would have to be converted or reset. Overall the change would have a big impact on the site in general. Among others the watch list features would need to be adapted ( eg, how to deal with new seasons in the plan-to-watch list etc).

However, the number of dramas with their stories spread over multiple seasons seems to be continuously increasing (at least that's how it appears to me). If this is true though. it would be better to start planning for this now, when there is still a relatively small amount of dramas affected than waiting a few years when maybe every other new show has two or more seasons.

Of course the work load for this would be huge. Maybe it would be easier to come up with a temporary solution first  that isn't as complex and doesn't have too large of an impact on general site operations.

One idea would be to link ratings of different seasons (again only for those that don't have independent story lines).  So when you add the second season to your watch list your rating for both seasons is identical. When you change the rating for one season your rating for the other season is automatically set accordingly. Of course this only works as a temporary quick fix and is far from ideal, but it would be a start. Just an idea though, there are probably other solutions.

I don't see why different season should have the same rating... It's like saying all seasons of GOT were equal. For me linking the parent stories/previous seasons and sequels in the page like it is now is enough. But that's just my opinion.
