1. Our Secret Diary
Japanese Movie - 2023
Your standard Cyrano storyline, but it's cute and I'm a sucker for a movie with a good soundtrack. Also, all those band posters and not a single one from a foreign band. ;(
-
2. Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
A slow-paced slice of life revolving around 2 women who form a bond over food and grow closer to one another. One likes to cook, the other likes to eat. While slow-paced slice of life is not my cup of tea, I found this drama to be a very cute and fluffy GL. It's also very healing and relaxing. They managed to slip in some nice social commentary as well. My favorite part was drooling over all of the food FL made, which looked absolutely delicious.
-
3. The Story of Park's Marriage Contract
Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
I feel like this is one of those dramas you either hate or love. On one hand, I found it entertaining. On the other hand, the plot was full of holes. It's a fish out of water storyline that involves a Joseon girl traveling to modern day Korea. Unlike most leads in this type of storyine, FL is a quick study and adapts to modern life very quickly to the point that it's kind of unrealistic (but so is time travel so who am I to say anything). I'm generally not a fan of this type of plot so I found it mediocre, especially with the business succession drama. However, I loved the cast, especially the lead actress. FL's outfits were also on fire. The outfits were one of my favorite things about this drama. Also, I loved the dorky secondary couple who acted as comedic relief. The last few episodes were a bit draggy which solidified my 6 rating. It's not a bad watch and even entertaining if you shut your brain off and enjoy the show. They even throw in a few good twists. Don't ask me how or if they make sense.

4. A Good Day to Be a Dog
Korean Drama - 2023, 14 episodes
One of the most adorable dramas of the year. I'm probably going to be biased about this one. All of the dogs were like a 13/10. Absolutely adorable and precious. The drama itself was so freaking adorable and hilarious in the beginning. It was exactly what I needed in a slump. I think the biggest problem people had was the 1 episode a week release schedule. I waited until it ended to binge the whole thing and that's what made me enjoy this so much more.
You have to think of this drama as semi-episodic cuz it has got multiple arcs. It would occasionally get a bit slow and then pick back up again as the new arc started, but it wasn't too noticeable if you were binging. The second half got slightly draggy with the past life flashbacks. The problem was they would show the same scene 3 or 4 times from different perspectives and would reveal slightly more information each time. This just felt like annoying filler to me. They did it way too many times. Other than that, I would give this drama an 8/10. Highly recommend for animal lovers. Very fluffy (or should I say furry). -
5. Love Me, Love My Voice
Chinese Drama - 2023, 33 episodes
I think I ruined this for myself by reading the novel first. The beginning was great, but I really struggled to get through this, mainly because it was sooo long and slow paced (though the romance progressed fairly quickly). They added a lot more content that wasn't in the novel. By the end it was just food, naps, and making out. Don't get me wrong, I love food and naps. This was a very relaxing drama, but it was a little too relaxing to the point that it got boring. ML was the greenest flag dude who was perfect at everything. FL just had her music career going for her. She really had no growth other than that. She's supposed to be a young senior in college, but she didn't seem to have matured much by the end (3 years go by). This was because they added a time jump that was never in the novel. They also upped the aegyo: the way FL dressed, the way she held tiny objects with both hands, etc. It was disturbing how much they infantilized her.
Also, I have huge respect for the voice acting industry because I know how much work and thought gets put into it. However, I found it weird that they would have concerts where the voice actors would dub live performances (like in theater). It almost seemed akin to people raving over a lip-syncing singer on stage while the real singer stands off to the side and sings. Why is dubbing performances considered respectable while the other is considered shameful on the singer's part? -
6. Sotus
Thai Drama - 2016, 15 episodes
Let's Make Hazing RoMAnTiC!
This drama really did not stand the test of time and it was really hard to watch all of the hazing. But then again it aired back when falling in love with your bully plots were more common. Also, who am I to complain? Hana Yori Dango is one of my favorite dramas. XD Anyways, the senior students all had a stick up their butts and were all like "Don't the freshman realize we're doing it for their own good!? There's life lessons learned and good memories". What a joke. The drama FINALLY got much better in the second half, but I still didn't care for the romance. I can see why they'd make a cute pair. ML1's flirting game was strong and it was fun watching ML2 getting all flustered because of it. Although the second half was a lot sweeter than the first, I was still kind of bored. It was like watching paint dry because I was staring at the screen (not even fast forwarding), but nothing was going through my head. I'd realize the part I was watching was over and I remembered nothing so I'd have to go back and rewatch the entire part with intense concentration. It was awful. On the upside, I got to go down nostalgia lane by seeing those pink drinks that seemed to have disappeared from Thai BLs. :D
I think if I watched this in 2016 I would've given this a 6/10, but for today's standards it's more like a 4/10. Overall, I thought it was lame. I'm not sure why it was hyped when it aired, but after completing this drama, I feel like I completed a right of passage. -
7. Hidden Marriage
Chinese Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
This was basically a commercial for some eye cream. The plot is from one of my favorite webnovels (Hidden Marriage), but they took that 200+ chapter novel and condensed it to a 4 min. episode drama that's 16 episodes long. What a travesty.

8. My Fake Wife
Chinese Drama - 2020, 18 episodes
Dramas like these are what give me a high tolerance for other low budget minidramas. The plot itself wasn't really the problem, it was the poor execution and the terrible acting. You want to know why I rated Miss Mystery high? Dramas like these set the bar reeeeaal low.
-
9. Gyeongseong Creature
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
This falls under the same realm of Sweet Home and other zombie dramas (but not a zombie drama). Maybe I'd give it a +0.5 for the set and costumes. It had a proper conclusion, but a lot of things were left unanswered. I would have liked to see the Lady Maeda + Saeshin backstory explained this season. There was a ridiculous amount of plot armor. Just how many times can people survive from exploding buildings? The action was pretty fun. It was entertaining and worth the watch. I was going to give it a 7.5, but I'm feeling petty about a lot of things.
-
10. Black Knight
Korean Drama - 2023, 6 episodes
Not my thing. I've come to the conclusion that post apocalyptical, dystopian stories about an uninhabitable earth are not my cup of tea. I was mostly bored except for the competition story arc, which only lasted about 2 episodes. Things I liked: the music, the action, Kim Woo Bin. I was uninterested in the villain story and whatever he was doing. There were multiple things going on with him, but I just didn't care.
-
11. Death's Game
Korean Drama - 2023, 4 episodes
Very refreshing and entertaining so far, but it's a bit bloody/graphic (as you can infer from the title). So many ways to die...
-
12. Death's Game Part 2
Korean Drama - 2024, 4 episodes
I was actually very satisfied with the ending and can't think of any complaints. This was a very well written drama. Even though I haven't read the webtoon, the way they adapted it on screen was well done considering there were so many components to it. The direction is great. The cast is also phenomenal. It's pretty graphic, so if that's not for you, skip this one. Oh, and don't expect any romance.
-
13. Maestra: Strings of Truth
Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
You have to watch this as a makjang more so than for the music or the mystery/thriller elements. As a makjang it's a fun ride, even if it is predictable. They do try to mislead the audience a bit with some misdirection. However, if you've seen enough dramas it's easy to predict. FL's ex is a bit on the delulu side in the beginning and possessive, but I couldn't help it...I'M GUILTY. I SHIP IT. As for the music, it was enjoyable. In the beginning, the story follows the very cliche plot of the conductor having to win over her orchestra. I've seen it many times before. However, the struggles FL faces, not just for being a maestra, are very interesting. It managed to have me hooked until the end.
-
14. 20th Century Girl
Korean Movie - 2022
Not sure how to rate this one. It's predictable af until it isn't, but even the predictable stuff was enjoyable, heartwarming school/youth comedy. There is so much second hand embarrassment. Ngl, the ending had me shooketh, but they did NOT do a good job of explaining things at the end. I want to give this a 7.5, but my gut tells me I'll come back a month from now and give it a 7.
-
15. Coffee & Vanilla
Japanese Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
Rewatched this at 1x speed and it was one of the most painful watch experiences I've had in my life despite watching it with an entire support group. The plot itself is like a 2/10. This FL has no self preservation. All the characters need therapy. Sadly, the drama is an exact copy and paste from the manga so they adapted it accurately. I rate cringey, smutty dramas like these on their own separate scale so ignore the rating. Also, not sure I can harshly rate a drama if the source material is shit.
-
16. My Demon
Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
Supernatural/Fantasy Romance is pretty much my all-time favorite genre. I really wanted to like this, but I struggled after the first 7 episodes. It was incredibly draggy and the flow of the story felt off. They would slowly drop hints and reveal more information at the oddest times. I was like "we're still on the first subplot why are you dropping hints about another subplot now?" It was a bit chaotic that way. Also, the villains were kind of lame. As for the lead actor...you know how a little kid does something adorable and you clap because it's cute, not because the kid is talented? That's how I felt about Song Kang. He was like this adorable kid that got claps for being cute. I love the lead actress and know she's been talented since she was a kid, but this is not one of her best roles. On the other hand, some of her outfits in this drama were fabulous.
There were a lot of a lot of Christian religious references, which was cool...but then they threw reincarnation into the mix which really messed with my head. Anyways, it really pains me to give this drama this rating. At first, I thought this was a tvN drama and was really confused because their fantasy dramas have higher standards than this. Turns out it's SBS, which makes so much more sense now. This drama had its fun moments, and the overall production is great, but the writing was just really sloppy. -
17. Hidden Sweet Wife
Chinese Drama - 2021, 30 episodes
This was so bad. I lost way too many brain cells. I can't believe someone from my friend's list gave this a 9/10. My favorite comment on the drama's page is "bad dramas exist for money laundering..." and I couldn't think of a more accurate description. ? ML sort of reminds me of young Mike He. +0.5 for the hand wipe scene.

18. Story of Yanxi Palace
Chinese Drama - 2018, 70 episodes
Pros:
- The attention to detail for hair, costumes, and set. They tried to be as historically accurate as possible. Some of the male actors even shaved their heads instead of using a bald cap.
- FL is pretty smart. Many people try to bully her, but she is quick to outwit them.
- The pacing is surprisingly good. It has multiple story arcs that usually only last for a few episodes. Nothing goes beyond 10 episodes.
- Animals! A few of the antagonists got cool pets.
- A healthy dose of comedy throughout the drama. Most palace dramas are serious and depressing. The comedy helped keep things light despite having some heavy and heartbreaking moments.
Cons:
- FL was almost perfect. There was no end to her talent (like when she became a magician).
- Many ridiculous makjang scenarios, but I guess this could fall under comedy cuz it felt more like juicy entertainment. Who knew there were so many creative ways to kill a fetus?
- FL was smart enough to outwit her enemies, but we still have to see other palace staff get abused or bullied.
- The revenge was not satisfactory. Writers were quick to write off villains from the show via sudden deaths, such as murder or suicide. We didn't get to see villains suffer.
- The last few episodes were a bit draggy. It was also kind of getting repetitive with similar story arcs, just with different or new characters.
Palace dramas are not my cup of tea, this was long, and I couldn't ship the main couple so I suffered. My idea of a happy ending would have been FL faking her death and managing to leave the forbidden palace as a happy commoner, but of course that didn't happen. Overall, I acknowledge that this drama was above average for a palace drama despite the ridiculous scenarios. I think I would have liked it a lot more had I watched it back when it was airing so I could've reacted to it with everyone else. -
19. Welcome to Samdal-ri
Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
I don't know why I loved this drama so much. It might be because I watched it immediately after Yanxi Palace, so it was a welcome relief. ^^;; I loved the cast. JCW's dramas are mostly a miss for me, but I was pleasantly surprised with this drama. All that trial and error...I think he's close to finding himself as an actor. I forget who mentioned Shin Hye Sun's over the top crying in this drama. I think it's just the character that's a crybaby. Poor girl went through a lot and now she's finally back home after years and letting it all out.
Anyways, this drama is very heartwarming. I loved all the symbolism and dolphin references. Kdramas featuring haenyos (female scuba divers) are kind of overdone, but this didn't feel cliche at all and was still interesting. The only annoying thing was ML's dad, who probably needed to get some therapy much earlier on. I liked that they kept the antagonist simple. They weren't some evil mastermind, just someone who created roadblocks for our FL. In that sense, there was less focus on the villain, but it provided a reason for why FL had to remain in Jeju for the time being. Overall, a great "healing" drama that is NOT slow paced. It is pretty great for binge-ig. Possibly a 7.5, but leaving it at 8 for now. -
20. Electric Dragon 80.000 V
Japanese Movie - 2001
This would not be most people's cup of tea, but this is art. ? It's a love it or hate it film. There is actually very little dialogue in this film, but it still manages to tell a whole superhero story. I'm impressed. Yes, it's totally chaotic and has scenes that seem random....The reptiles were cool. It's a Letterboxd 7 for me. Idk what that converts to in MDL ratings.

21. Like Flowers in Sand
Korean Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
It's more of a murder mystery drama than it is a sports drama. It was mostly boring/forgettable. I've never been so uninterested in knowing who the villain was. The most impressive thing about this drama was Jang Dong Yoon's weight gain transformation for this role. The wrestling was a disappointment and only got a little bit more interesting in the 2nd half for the limited scenes it had. My favorite character was the dog. It was an odd mix of murder mystery + sports + small town drama + friendship/youth. Whatever this combination was, it did not work for me. [See Review]

22. Akai Nurse Call
Japanese Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
I'd say this drama was more frustrating than it was bad. The plot was incredibly dumb overall. A couple gets into a car accident and end up at a remote hospital where a series of horrific murders occur. It's a murder mystery/horror drama where characters have to survive and discover who the killer is. Obviously this hospital is super shady, but what annoyed me the most is that no one even tried to transfer out or leave against medical advice. It felt really unrealistic in that sense. Sure, they'd come up with excuses, but there were literally cops visiting everyday investigating. It was so strange they supposedly couldn't communicate with the outside world. The lead detective was also frustratingly dumb. There were just so many plotholes and I didn't care for any of the characters except maybe the main two.
The most exciting episode was probably the last episode where the biggest motive was revealed. It was like a lightbulb went off. It almost improved my opinion of the drama, but then it had to go and end with the most abrupt dumb ending. The drama managed to catch me by surprise maybe twice, but it's mostly a skip worthy watch unless you're a fan of dumb horror.
@Saarthak's Least Favorite drama complete for the #C5hallenge. ✅ Thanks for keeping the suffering short. On to one of his favorites next. -
23. Big Bet
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
Not my cup of tea, but it is very fascinating to see how criminals come up with creative ways to get around loop holes. The main character's backstory is very interesting, but now that the show is done explaining his backstory, it's getting boring. At this point, the cops are not interesting at all. So far, this seems like your average international crime drama.
-
24. Big Bet Season 2
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
It just seemed like your average international crime drama. It had some big names in it, but the story didn't really catch my interest, especially in the second half. Also, non linear storytelling is a form of art. Unfortunately, this drama executed it poorly. It just seemed like this drama was trying to join in on the latest trend.
-
25. Shinnyushatachi no Bansan
Japanese Special - 2024, 1 episode
This writer is generally considered a good one. It was a fun movie special that had many twists and turns. I'm proud of myself for predicting at least 2 of the major ones. :D In a way, this group of precious fools reminded of the gang from Avengers Social Club.
-
26. My Boss
Chinese Drama - 2024, 36 episodes
I guess it hits the spot if you're in the mood for romcoms. FL is a bit annoying in the beginning and overreacts to the cohabitation situation. She's also a bit dumb, but I'm glad to see her gain maturity and growth by the end. Some of the law cases were interesting, but I think they should have stuck to just law with limited romance or just romance. The couple took forever to get together and by the time they finally did, I lost interest in the drama.
-
27. Ready, Set, Love
Thai Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
A fun, not too serious Thai comedy. The male population is dwindling to the point of near extinction. A game show gives a bunch of girls the chance to compete and be paired up these highly sought after handsome men. There's plenty of eye candy and plenty of fanservice. The plot is unique and refreshing. It is a very high production show. The set reminds me of Squid Games meets Barbie. Best of all it's only 6 episodes. They left room open for a possible 2nd season, but it has a complete ending. It's more like a 7.5, but let me sit on the rating.
-
28. The Lapse
Chinese Movie - 2020
The story had potential, but it was a miss for me. With a bit better direction, production, and sound mixing, this could've been a LOT better. On the other hand, it makes you use your brain to figure out what's going on.
-
29. My Special Girl
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
As average as average can be with a few limited cute and funny scenes. I mainly checked this out for Ireine and Zhang Yunlong. I loved both leads. However, this ended up being a low budget generic production. Maybe they were trying to cover too many storylines (that no one even cared about). The ending was so abrupt. I really checked to see if more episodes were available cuz I couldn't believe it just ended like that. I'm just not sure what happened. Maybe it was supposed to be longer and got cut short.
Edit: just realized I hate the writer. This explains a lot. Who tf keeps giving this writer a job? What special connections does she have? -
30. Waru: Hataraku no ga Kakko Warui Nante Dare ga Itta?
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
A positive, motivational work drama. This was exactly my cup of tea. I enjoyed it very much. FL's chaotic energy can be a bit overwhelming in the beginning, but you get used to it and, dare I say, it grows on you. Her energy dampens just a bit in the later episodes, but she still has that same classic energy. I loved FL's growth by the end. I'm just feeling happy, warm feels that make me want to work.
Thank you @Saarthak for sharing this favorite of yours with me. Round 2 of #C5hallenge complete. -
31. Fahlanruk
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
Poor @nightnight apologized profusely when she assigned this to me as her least favorite drama. I knew it was going to be bad. When I checked my average friends' rating, it was a low whopping 4. Just how bad could this drama be? ? Watching this as a hate watch probably gave me an entire different experience. Yes, it was bad, but not as bad as I was expecting.
This drama started off with a bang (well, more like someone getting banged ?). There are usually three types of BLs: the serious kind, the fluffy comedy kind, and then the horny kind. This one is the third. Once you acknowledge that fact it's easier to watch cuz you don't take it seriously. The main couple goes from a one night stand to a friends with benefits type of situation. One wants more, the other refuses to go beyond that (but still gets hella jealous like a possessive boyfriend). It's all very dumb. Cue misunderstandings, fights, jealousy, on again and off again hooking up. That pretty much sums up the drama. There were two side couples that I didn't even care about. Tbh, I could barely tell these characters apart. ? I would highly recommend skipping over them. The acting was subpar. Some scenes were very cringe. The blatantly obvious product placement was kind of amusing. Overall, yes it's bad, but not as bad as I was expecting. Avoid unless you're looking for a hate watch or feeling horny. -
32. Marry My Husband
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
I knew nothing about this drama going in other than it was a 2nd chance at life revenge story and that there was a cat. For some reason the title made me think contract marriage was involved, but that is not the case. As far as these revenge stories go, it hit the spot. Unfortunately, these second chance at life stories are a dime a dozen and I've seen plenty executed a lot better. I loved the lead cast (including the villain actors). The main couple is really cute together. 2nd and 3rd couples are cute too, but not much time was spent on them, which is probably for the better. There are mainly 2 arcs. First arc is solid, although it took a long time for it to come into fruition. Things get annoying around the 2nd arc point around episode 11 or 12. There are multiple subplots going on too. I feel like things could've been simplified in order to wrap up the story in 12 episodes. The second arc most certainly could've been done in one episode. Storywise this is a 6.5 or 7, but I'll bump it up due to the cat.
-
33. Knight Flower
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
I absolutely loved the FL (and lead actress). It was fun watching her running around doing her thing. The action is fun. The music is great. The comedy can be fun. FL has got this cute side to her and lead actress excels in action comedies. That being said, it was difficult getting into the story with all of that political drama. I really was not invested. It was also unbearable for me to see FL live that unfair widow life. It's not bad, but didn't keep me interested other than FL and the action. An episodic format would've probably suited this drama better.
-
34. Amidst a Snowstorm of Love
Chinese Drama - 2024, 30 episodes
I loved this drama and really wanted to give this an 8. It very much probably could be an 8 for me. The only reason I'm holding back is that some scenes had over the top cheesyness. There were too many napping scenes (which was basically a euphemism for sex, but had to be whitewashed to pass censorship). This could've been cut out tbh. The main couple could be annoyingly clingy, but it was understandable due to the long distance relationship. The drama is also a bit slow paced which might not be for everyone.
On the plus side, the main couple is very natural together. I felt like I was invading their personal space. Great job with casting a younger ML, which made the age gap less noticeable. I loved the traveling and living in Finland part. I also LOVE how the Finnish were depicted as friendly and welcoming (cdramas have a history of making non chinese foreigners look bad). Last but not least, I loved the billiards storyline. The focus on the non traditional sport was very refreshing and interesting. Out of all the dramas that have been adapted from Mo Bao Fei Bao's novels, this is one of the better works in terms of production and quality overall. It gave me more Go Go Squid vibes (without the creepy aegyo element).
p.s. the Viki timed comments on this drama were very fun.
edit: changed rating to an 8. might change my mind again in a week. -
35. Okay! Madam
Korean Movie - 2020
Just a fun, entertaining action comedy. It was hilarious even though my mom kept distracting me in the middle. I actually went back and rewatched it properly to make sure I didn't miss anything. There is actually a LOT of foreshadowing and easter eggs. I cant believe we missed all these of clues. Very nicely written, hence the 8.

36. 3 Will Be Free
Thai Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
There were a couple things I loved. First, it had its fun moments. Also, I loved this trio and the bond they form together. I couldn't get into it for various reasons. So much pointless killing. Even mafia have a code of honor. In this drama, they had none. The dumb henchmen guy kind of ruined it to me. I prefer smart antagonists. The drama tries to tick off a bunch of the lgbt diversity boxes. I don't want to say the trans character was unnecessary, but it was absolutely unnecessary to drag her into the chaos of the hunt/chase. She was too good for all of them. On another note, someone close I know looked a lot like one of the main characters (the stripper) and it lowkey creeped me out, especially cuz they dangled him like a piece of meat with his abs frequently on display.
This was @nightnight's favorite drama pick for me for the #c5 challenge. Round 3 complete. -
37. Dusk Love
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
The poster seems pretty cute, but its a deceiving low budget minidrama with subpar acting and editing. There is a contract relationship plot, but they breeze right through it. At one point I felt like I was losing brain cells. It's not too bad for these dramas that have low standards though. You're still probably better off just skipping this one.
-
38. Love Reset
Korean Movie - 2023
A slight twist on the classic romcom trope. It's a 6.5 for the story, but the movie had some great, laugh out loud worthy moments.
-
39. Emperor and Queen
Chinese Drama - 2021, 20 episodes
This is a low budget minidrama (expect low standards). I watched half the drama out of order and then the whole drama in proper sequential order. I don't think I missed much. Honestly, the drama wasn't worth it. Although, it did have a few golden comedy moments and some cute romantic scenes. The plot is mostly generic involving FL going back in time from when she was murdered and changing her fate. She has to complete a mission to find out who massacred her family. There are a few twists that threw me off (even when watching it in order). Anyways, it had potential, but the stupid drama ends in a cliffhanger and there is no 2nd season. Only watch if you are clowning around.
-
40. Love Song for Illusion
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
I wanted to love this drama. In fact, I did love it. It's a silly, fun drama that should not be taken too seriously. It has a refreshing plot. It's not everyday you come across an FL who has two husbands (due to split personality). The split personality is depicted as a supernatural phenomenon rather than a psychological one. The best part is, he is not the only character with it. Anyway, it made for an interesting love triangle I guess. The outfits were pretty (ML is half designer after all). The soundtrack was decent. Unfortunately, the drama was incredibly draggy. The plot was going in circles. The drama most certainly could've been shortened. It had so much potential. There were a lot of fun moments such as the frenemy bromance that develops between the two personalities. Maybe OG webtoon is much better.
-
41. Marry Me, My Evil Lord
Chinese Drama - 2024, 20 episodes
Low budget minidrama. It's one of those time pass dramas you watch when you're bored and have nothing better to watch. It's nice because it doesn't involve any real commitment. I enjoyed the main couple's rivalry and frenemy relationship. It was fun to see them bicker, outsmart each other, and fall in love. There were a couple of trashy twists that made made little sense. The main reason to watch it is for the silly humor. p.s. The English title is random and deceiving.
-
42. Drama Special Season 14: Love Attack
Korean Special - 2023, 1 episode
Ah, this was cheesy, dorky, and cute. I loved it. I just had a huge grin on my face for most of it.

43. I Give My First Love to You
Japanese Movie - 2009
Clearing out this classic. I usually avoid these storylines like a plague, but it wasn't as sad as I thought it would be. I still teared up though.

44. The Library
Thai Movie - 2013
Rewatch. Heartwarming short film starring Ananda.

45. Captivating the King
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
I'm not sure why most people are hating on this drama. I actually quite liked it. Perhaps it's cuz I was captivated by the King (played by Jo Jung Suk ♥). The drama is more political than it is a romance. I am perfectly okay with that (because I found the political part interesting), but I can see how others would not. The game of Go is similar to chess in that it requires strategy and reading your opponent. ML and FL have a great comradery over the game. Of course, this bromance turns into a romance, but that comradery still remains. It's hard to explain. I actually really appreciated this relationship. It was like they were friends first before lovers. I binged this drama so I actually quite liked the pacing. Most people probably had an issue with the ending which was a bit on the open ended side I guess. Bottom line, start this drama for the friendship, game of Go, and politics. While it has romance, it should not be the major reason to watch this. JJS's acting was phenomenal, but I might be biased. :P

46. Perfect Days
Japanese Movie - 2023
If the Sad Keanu meme was a movie, this would be it. Jokes aside, this was a simple and beautiful film. It's slow paced cinema and very slice of life. It follows the daily life of a lonely old man who cleans public restrooms for a living. He may seem lonely, but he manages to find the simple joys in life. He lives in his own little world, but that does not mean he is a recluse. He enjoys his brief social interactions with others. There is so much you can analyze about this film despite it being simple. The last scene was perfect. It's a very soothing film with a great soundtrack. As a bonus, you get a little tour of Tokyo's cool public restrooms.
Oscar nominated for Best International Film. -
47. Queen of Divorce
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
I regret to inform you that this is just a daytime airing makjang (soap opera) that is disguised as a prime-time drama because it took a prime-time slot. It was very makjang. There were plenty of plot holes. The main characters were depicted as capable lawyers but were doing very unlawyer like things to win their cases. Not only that, but they also kept letting important witnesses die due to negligence. Not to mention, crucial evidence gets destroyed in the dumbest ways. The divorce cases were not interesting. I really wanted to root for this drama because it's KKY's first lead role, but this was just an embarrassing waste of his talents. Needless to say, it had very weak writing and is a waste of time.
-
48. Sweet Trap
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
It had a rough start. There was poor writing and noticeable weak direction in the beginning, making it seem like a super low budget webdrama. The quality got better in the second half, but that does not excuse the weak writing with poorly written antagonists. On the contrary, it had some cute and funny moments. The lead actress is naturally adorable. The food looked great. The drama included a lot of nice scenic locations. FL's dad, who had dementia, is depicted as likable and non exhausting to be around. Overall, it's mid, but it's a nice mindless watch if that's what you're looking. The food did not disappoint.

49. Dream Garden
Chinese Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
I wasn't expecting much, but it's surprisingly decent. The mystery element pulled me in. The suspense had me on the edge of my feet at times. The cases were pretty decent too. The only thing I didn't like was that FL can be unprofessional and delulu at times (for the first few episodes at least), but she gets better afterward. She can be very smart and observant at times, but when it comes to other things, she can be irrational. It's nothing new for dramaland. Main couple is cute together.
-
50. So Long, See You Tomorrow
Korean Movie - 2021
I'm sorry. It's not bad, but it's just not my cup of tea. Too slow paced, gloomy, and depressing overall for me. The concept is interesting though. It's interesting how each choice made a drastic change in his life, but a few things were cannon events that remained the same.
-
51. Doctor Slump
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
Exactly what I was in the mood for. I'm trying not to be biased cuz Park Hyung Sik is in it. :P The first 10-12 episodes are great and very binge worthy. The pacing is great. There are two main storylines to keep you occupied because both ML and FL are each experiencing a "slump" of their own. It has a little bit of everything: mystery, suspense, romance, comedy, happiness, and sadness. The villain storyline wasn't too annoying or complicated. The drama slowed down a bit for the last few episodes. I agree with people who say it could've been a bit shorter. As for chemistry, I'd say it was lacking from PSH's side, but this didn't matter to me. Overall, a great drama that I enjoyed.
-
52. Koi to Dangan
Japanese Drama - 2022, 9 episodes
+ Hilariously cringey (fantastic watch party material).
+ Good use of lighting for dramatic moments.
+ Pretty cherry blossoms and flower themed kimonos.
+ FL has a spine (unlike C&V FL, who had no self preservation).
- FL's acting is terrible. ML and his left eyebrow carried the show.
- Last 3-4 episodes are kind of slow and draggy.
- Underwhelming ending. WTH.
Not sure how to rate this cuz I rate smut dramas on a different scale, but this was better than C&V for the first half at least. -
53. Branding in Seongsu
Korean Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
Not only is it forgettable, it is straight up bad. I had low expectations to begin with and wasn't planning on watching it, but then I kept seeing content about a body swap so I had to check it out. It fails to hold your interest. It is badly written. There's a lot of random stuff that they show and fail to explain later on. They do a poor job of explaining why the switch happens and what triggers it. FL is a horrible person, especially in the beginning. The only saving grace is that the lead actor is handsome. That's it. Don't worry about his appearance in the beginning. He has a revenge glow up later on. There is a kind of cute & scary bunny related theme. It's random, but I'm not complaining. Overall, it's an unfortunate mess.
-
54. Return to the Wolves
Chinese Movie - 2017
If not friend, why friend shaped? This film captures the joys and sorrows of parenting when it comes to raising a special needs child. The "child" in this scenario is in fact a wolf that was saved as a pup. Realizing the best thing for the wolf is not raising him in the city, Li Weiyi temporarily moves to a prairie/protected sanctuary in order to rehabilitate this wolf back into wildlife. It was something that had never been done before in China. There are plenty of proud mama moments, such as teaching the wolf to hunt and seeing how smart he is. The biggest proud mama moment, of course, is teaching him to return to the wolves. There are a few minor flaws in the form of chaotic editing (although it was mostly chaotic good). It was filmed by an amateur director. Some scenes probably had to be reenacted. However, it's still very impressive considering the first few months were all cut from home video footage. Also, there are some gorgeous scenic shots. It has some cheesy fake sounding dialogue, which felt scripted at times. It doesn't follow the usual documentary format, so I'm hesitant to call it one. Anyway, I don't know about you, but I could watch cat and dog videos all day long. This was time well spent. No one asked, but I absolutely cried. 9/10 for story.

55. Everyone Loves Me
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
The first one-third was hilarious between all the rivalry, bickering, and chaos. I would say this part was a 7.5 or 8. I laughed out loud a lot. The second one-third was average good when it came to the business drama and learning the behind the scenes of an artist's work in a corporate setting. For this part I would give a 7. The last one-third was rough, mostly because it was boring. This is when the romance took off. I've never seen such an underwhelming confession. I literally had to watch it 3 times because I zoned out the first two times. The problems on the business side made it especially frustrating and boring. I would give this part a 6. So overall, my average episode rating is 6.8. On another note, I really liked this FL. I did not like this actress in her previous roles, but here she was so refreshing to watch! It's a decent time pass drama to keep you occupied. The first two-thirds really were worth the watch so I don't regret it.
-
56. Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna Season 2
Japanese Drama - 2024, 20 episodes
Normally I don't like slow-pace, but this was such a relaxing and stress free drama. It's perfect for bedtime for when you need to unwind. Also, the food appreciation was my favorite part. It's like watching a loved one cook in the kitchen (without chaos). p.s. This couple discusses things a lot. :)
-
57. Indulgence
Chinese Drama - 2024, 27 episodes
Pros would be that it has a relatively good looking leads that are easy on the the eyes. It also has arguably steamy kisses. Other than that, it was pretty cringe seeing these two flirt and tease each other. They have this weird sibling relationship going on. The amount of times they were teasingly calling each other "jie jie" and "di di" while flirting was disturbing. O_O Some of the mystery was interesting, but most of the story with the villains was a waste of time, especially toward the end. Oh, and the background music made it seem even more cheap for a low budget mini.
-
58. The Street Fighter
Japanese Movie - 1974
The plot is mediocre. There is some cringe dialogue in the beginning. Thank god it doesn't last long. I'm not sure if you can call FL weak. She is dull in the beginning, but there is some growth on her side. What annoyed me was ML's wrist grabbing (when they were barely acquainted) and some mind manipulation (wtf). The acting was a little subpar overall. However, the desserts were a 8 or 9/10 and that's mainly what I was here for.
-
59. Target
Korean Movie - 2023
The plot is mediocre. There is some cringe dialogue in the beginning. Thank god it doesn't last long. I'm not sure if you can call FL weak. 61. Wolf Hiding
Chinese Movie - 2023
Need to rewatch it properly cuz I was half paying attention. beginning was mediocre with a lot of senseless violence, but there were two great twists.
-
62. Be Careful Delicacy
Chinese Drama - 2018, 12 episodes
Similar concept as Meet Yourself, but nowhere near the same level of production. I love that ML is a clown. The show starts off mediocre and chaotic, but gets more interesting as ML and FL fall for each other. At that point, the drama becomes more relaxing. The food recipes are simple, but the food looked great. The animation is super cute. Ginger and Garlic are regular adorable characters. The recipes at the end are very easy to follow and are great for beginners. Thanks for the foodspiration.
-
63. Nagatan to Aoto: Ichika no Ryourijou
Japanese Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
I love this drama so much for multiple reasons. First, it's actually very similar to a contract marriage drama, although this is an arranged marriage. I thought the age gap would bother me, but these two are surprisingly well compatible. I adore how respectful they are to each other. The drama is very soothing. I want to give it a +0.5 for just the ending credit scenes and song alone. The food looks delicious. Idk why I was concentrating so hard on how she made the dishes. Ain't no way I'm actually going to get around to making them. XD
The story itself is simple, but it is well executed. It's pretty feminist. Some of the anti female chef comments got a bit annoying though. There was probably one main annoying loose end I could think of, but I understand that this drama covers volume 1 of OG manga series. Overall, I'd highly recommend it...not so much for the romance, but everything else. I made the mistake of starting this late at night and was HOOKED. I ended up bingeing the entire thing. -
64. Jjajangmyeon Rhapsody
Korean TV Show - 2024, 2 episodes
A mouth watering docuseries with A+ food porn. The way these jjajangmyeon enthusiasts passionately talk about the dish is so imaginatively creative and accurate. I was salivating. The history of the dish is also really interesting. How it came over from China, evolved to suit Korean tastes, spread throughout the country, and became super popularized. It was also nice to see how each region has their own unique version of it to cater to even more local tastes. The second episode was about jjampong, but it was not as exciting as the first dish. Maybe it's just me and my lack of interest in seafood. Overall, it's one of the more exciting food documentaries I've seen. xD
-
65. Going by the Book
Korean Movie - 2007
I just loved this so much. ML is so precious with his cute little signs. This movie is refreshingly hilarious. As a bonus, it stood the test of time.
-
66. Kashimashi Meshi
Japanese Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
The food was decent, but I had zero interest in these characters and their love lives or whatever dilemma they were facing. They discussed things a lot, but again I didn't find any of it interesting. It's better off being a drama you have on in the background. It wasn't worth the watch for just the food alone.
-
67. Lost in the Stars
Chinese Movie - 2022
I keep going back and forth between what I want to rate this, but I guess I'll go with the higher number. It feels like a 7. You sort of feel dejavu while watching it. The storyline isn't something new. In fact, it's an adaptation from a French play turned movie, which has been adapted by many other countries. While watching this, I kept questioning things. There seemed to be a lot more efficient ways of solving this mystery. The ending explained everything to me. The twist was great, but a bit farfetched. In the end, I'm here for entertainment, so I'm happy it caught me off guard.
-
68. Fermat no Ryori
Japanese Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
This drama was over the top dramatic. I thought these anime style dramas with over the top acting died out in the 2010's, but here we are. Luckily, the intensity of everything decreased in the second half and it became more enjoyable. The teamwork and comradery the kitchen staff develops over time is heartwarming. The head chef basically recruits and Avengers level team. I'll be honest, this chef gave me creepy and greasy vibes in the beginning. He is most definitely sus. Is it just me or was anyone else getting homoerotic vibes between him and ML? Anyway, I really tried liking this drama for the nerdy math stuff, but it failed me. On a more positive note, the food did not disappoint!
-
69. Patisserie Mon
Japanese Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
I loved this drama. Not only did the desserts look absolutely scrumptious, they were very aesthetic too. FL is super adorable. The bakery staff is sweet. Everyone works so well together. It was all so sweet and simple. I would say this was a stress free watch. However, toward the end there is a new character that adds some negativity. Luckily, it's short lived and the drama goes back to being sweet again. Plot is a 7, but +0.5 for the wholesome sweetness. The desserts were mouth watering and on point.
-
70. Krabi, 2562
Thai Movie - 2020
To be fair, I was given little context about this film other than it was a Thai documentary. I could barely understand what was going. However, after reading the synopsis, things made a lot more sense. The documentary captures the region through various lenses: the gorgeous scenery, the urban legends, the tourism, the locals, and the strange critters. There are some things I still don't get though. The film is highly peaceful and soothing like you are in nature. One of the directors, Ben Rivers, said he likes to have this theme of nature taking over in his films. I could definitely see that! This movie feels like people watching and respectfully strolling through these locations.
-
71. Cooking Crush
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
It started off cute, but the writing is pretty weak. Off is adorable in this unlike his usual loud and comic relief roles. Pros include decent food and non toxic drama involving characters cheating on each other. ML and his goofball friends are a cute trio. Cons are mainly that it just gets boring. The competition part of the drama gets pretty annoying. I started fastforwarding when the couple gets clingy and whiney. The drama as a whole could've benefited from being a lot shorter. 4 episodes was enough.
-
72. Analog
Japanese Movie - 2023
+ Beautiful opening shot and beautiful sea shots.
+ This couple was sooo cute together.
+/- ML's friends were kind of jerks in the beginning, but then they went above and beyond to keep this ship going.
- So what if FL didn't have a cellphone? They could've shared other contact information with each other via email or landline. The owner of the coffee shop was a silent captain of the ship. I'm pretty sure it's ok to call the shop to see if either was there in case of emergency. Heck, FL could've even called ML from a payphone. *STRESS* -
73. Four Sisters Before the Wedding
Filipino Movie - 2020
I found the sisters annoying, especially since they were younger. I didn't like it as much as OG.
-
74. Fry Me to the Moon
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
This drama is like a hidden gem or diamond in the rough. I was not expecting the quality to be so good based on the English title and the average looking poster. The food cinematography was great. Although there is some romance, the drama's primary focus is on the food and business part of the drama. The story is simple, but I like how these characters were written. No one is perfect. Everyone has flaws. Even the most unlikable characters have some likable aspect to them. ML reminds me of that one nice/respectable guy who's in a friend group with a bunch of women. XD Actually, I like how most of the men were written in this drama. I also really liked everyone's character growth by the end.
-
75. The Meg
Chinese Movie - 2018
I didn't think this would be on here, but it is!! I had fun. I didn't think I'd be into a shark movie. ? There were plenty of times when I gasped and laughed out loud. It's not Oscar worthy, but it knew its intended audience and delivered.
-
76. Meg 2: The Trench
Chinese Movie - 2023
I didn't like this as much as the first. I'm glad the fearless dog made a reappearance.
-
77. You Are a Bitch Who Took My Place
Taiwanese Movie - 2019
Yes, I watched this just for the title. XD These two are cute together and the ending was kind of cute, but this is incredibly terribly made. I've seen amateur youtubers film and act better than this.
-
78. Frozen Love
Korean Special - 2017, 2 episodes
It was cute, but also meh. There's only so much you can cover in two episodes. I liked the first half. Second half is a fish out of water story with some plotholes.
-
79. Anchor Baby
Chinese Movie - 2020
A whee bit messed up scenario involving FL using her chronically ill lil bro for visa purposes, but we're here to watch the absurdity as entertainment. Sort of meh, but also heartwarming. FL's dad is a little OTT annoying with the dramatics.
-
80. Let's Go Karaoke!
Japanese Movie - 2024
Just a wholesome unlikely friendship story that is very much up my alley. Ayano Go is still the master of disguise. This time he doesn't change his physical appearance much, but he's so immersed in his role that it's hard to recognize him anyway. He plays a yakuza with a cute side.
-
81. Citizen of a Kind
Korean Movie - 2024
Interesting movie inspired by a true story, but I felt like some things might've been exaggerated or dramatized to the point of it being unrealistic...or maybe it was the comedy aspect that felt out of place. It's worth the watch for the story I guess.
-
82. Futekisetsu ni mo Hodo ga Aru!
Japanese Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
It's an interesting unserious drama that tries to be openminded. It aims to bridge the gap between cross generational differences. It educates people about political correctness, but also depicts how too much political correctness can also be a problem too. People from the past learn from future society and people from current day learn from past society. It was entertaining overall.
+/- The political incorrectness might be too much and hard to digest, but it's necessary for the plot so try to be open minded.
- This is actually a musical and the musical scenes toward the end of each episode seem really random.
- The drama made a joke involving something on my taboo list. It grossed me out. Had that not happened, I would've given this a solid 7. -
83. Rising With the Wind
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
Well, this was quite the journey! This contemporary cdrama actually has decent production. I LOVED FL's character growth. I was very proud of her by the end. After hitting rock bottom, she manages to turn her business and life around. She learns so much and this type of growth is very much my cup of tea.
The drama's main flaw is that it is very long. 40 episodes is a lot. The first half may have been strong, but the second half had a lot of fillers and dRaMA. Heck, even in the first half, FL had to use many roundabout methods to get things done. It was like having to go through many side quests to complete the urgent task at hand. Poor girl couldn't get a break. In a way this drama reminded me of Misaeng (Incomplete Life).
While I liked the business part of this drama, I did NOT like the romance...mainly because I did not like the ML. Yup, I am part of the ML haters squad. I also did not like FL2. I'm not even going to go into detail with her character cuz it's a waste of time. Overall, a great business drama with a popular male casting. If you are used to watching lakorns (genre), then you might even like the romance. -
84. Wedding Impossible
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
I struggled with this drama. I'm surprised this is tvN cuz they usually have higher standards, but maybe they took it on cuz one of the main characters is gay (the conservative networks probably wouldn't air it). Usually I love marriage contract dramas, but this premise is different. ML is so annoying. I had major SLS where I was shipping FL with a gay guy. I kept wishing a third lead would appear cuz this love triangle was a disaster. Then there was all the boring and terribly written chaebol drama involving ML's family members and their secrets. The only characters I really liked were FL's brother in law and her nephew.
-
85. Queen of Tears
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
I liked the main story involving the main couple, who are cute together. ML really carries the weight of this drama on his shoulders. He's like the perfect green flag ML. As you can guess by the title, this drama made me shed tears. For the most part the story was solid, but it had a really lame villain plot which ruined it for me. I also could've cared less about FL's messed up family (except maybe her brother). It took me awhile to figure out who was who. ML's family is sweet as expected. Unfortunately, this drama started off strong, but it dragged in the second half. I enjoyed it, but it could've been shortened and needed a better villain story.
-
86. Mystery to Iunakare Tokubetsu Hen
Japanese Special - 2023, 1 episode
I thought I was getting deja vu or had seen this before, but the special revisits one of the cases from the drama. There is another mystery in the second half, which I liked. It was a more wholesome one.
-
87. The Midnight Studio
Korean Drama - 2024, 16 episodes
I decided to check this out because I saw a video of the script reading in which the leads were tearing up while reading the script. This probably feels like a 6.5, but I think overall it's a solid drama. I love my supernatural dramas and this wasn't too disappointing. Obviously some things could've been shortened and improved upon. As many people are saying, it's like reverse The Master's Sun. The first half of the drama is pretty episodic with a nice variety of ghosts. The climax with the villain felt both underwhelming and over the top. The third act was alright with a decent conclusion, but I felt like some things could've been better. The pacing also felt a bit off here with some parts being draggy because it went off into side story tangents.
-
88. The Swordsman
Korean Movie - 2020
+Badass Daddy Jang Hyuk
+Fantastic action choreography.
+Good direction
-Weak script. If you go into it blind it's hard to follow the story, particularly the politics. To simplify it, it's about a man trying to save his daughter. -
89. Split
Korean Movie - 2016
Did not think I'd get into a bowling movie. It's mostly wholesome, but some parts are dark.
-
90. May I Help You
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
I LOVED it and not just because Jun is in it. :P This was an addicting binge despite the story being simple. It's about funeral director helping the deceased move on to the afterlife by fulfilling their last wishes. Although the concept has been done before, what I liked about this drama is that FL cannot see all ghosts. She only sees the ghost of her "clients" so it's only one ghost at a time for a short period. It makes the story easier to follow. I liked the romance. The pacing of the the story was good. I'm probably one of the few people who liked the ending and how they wrapped things up. I also loved the cinematography and direction. It wasn't in your face, but more subtle. It didn't try to outshine the story, but enhanced it. It was a job well done. Also, shout out to the location scout who found such scenic places to shoot this drama.
-
91. Buff in Love
Chinese Drama - 2022, 18 episodes
This was brain rot bad. ML exhibits signs of red flag behavior, but is depicted as cheeky and cute so it's all overlooked. As for FL, I'm not sure what specifically I didn't like about her, but she's annoying.
-
92. The Great Buddha+
Taiwanese Movie - 2017
This would fall under indie/arthouse. This movie probably wasn't for me. It was solid for most of the movie (around 7), but then I kept dozing off in last 20 minutes. I rewatched that bit, but it didn't help. I seemed to have lost my interest for the end. It's still a great movie for this genre though. It's a black and white movie with a splash of color (and I really liked how they showed these colorful parts).
-
93. The Emperor: Owner of the Mask
Korean Drama - 2017, 40 episodes
This is officially the worst sageuk I have ever seen. It was torture from episode one. TERRIBLE acting...it was one of L's earlier dramas and his acting his torture to watch. It had a horrible script. ML and FL were incredibly naive to the point that it was beyond annoying. You would think they would get better as the series goes, but that is not the case. I hated almost everyone except for 2 characters. I had SFLS, which is rare. They killed off my least hated character. Also, the audacity of these villains who were just the worst of the worst. They were doing so many fxked up things and some of it reminded me of stuff happening in the world today which really struck a nerve and stressed me out.
-
94. The Eighth Sense
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
As far as Korean BLs go, this is cream of the crop. I loved the cinematography and music. The sound editing is great...those moments of silence are *chefs kiss*. You can feel the tension and awkwardness. The plot is nothing amazing. It's a pretty chill and relaxing drama. It felt mostly natural (minus the 2 annoying characters). The drama starts to get a bit draggy toward the end. I'm glad one of the MLs had a psychiatrist (what a concept??) who was able to help him navigate his thoughts and feelings.
-
95. Irresistible
Thai Drama - 2021, 22 episodes
Honestly, I thought it was going to be so much worse, but I binged right through it with ease at 1.4x. It is your typical lakorn trash, but with binge worthy scenarios. I have to give them props for using some modern technology/science. I was also very happy that one of the actors wasn't typecast as a villain. He managed to stay good. ^^ This drama also had a dark skinned actress (there are very few in lakorns). I'm very happy her character ended up having a conscience and wasn't a pure bitch (I've noticed plenty of lakorns make darker skinned characters villains unless they're trans).
I guess I didn't hate it because I went in with super low expectations. I don't know if I can consider this "bad" cuz this is the level of expected bad I expect to see in revenge lakorns. There is a minor infidelity plot, which I usually hate, but I managed to ignore. If FL ended up with ML or not, either way I would've been happy. He did something awful and deserved all the misery that came his way. This is probably a good candidate for a hate watch, but on the less extreme side. -
96. The 8 Show
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
I liked the social commentary/experiment, particularly in the first half. #8 was quite the character. XD I also loved #7's Flight of the Bumblebee performance. The first half was more interesting. The second half got a lot darker, which I expected. I just wasn't into or in the mood for all that darkness. As far as these mysterious game shows go, this was average.
-
97. The Last Frenzy
Chinese Movie - 2024
Penny pincher Jia You Wei had been skimping and saving his whole life when he learns his days are numbered. What's he to do with all that money he'd saved? Blow it all of course. Remembering a vow he made with his friends in his youth, he sets out to find them and fulfill his promise. His plan is to spend his few last days having fun. If the plot sounds a bit familiar, it's because it probably is. This movie is like the Chinese version of Last Holiday, but with a strong theme of brotherhood, friendship, and reconciliation. Despite the seriousness of the main character's situation, the movie manages to be silly, goofy, and light. It's a bit slapstick and cheesy too. There are plenty of heartfelt moments as the main character sets out to fulfill his friends' wishes before his time is up. The movie had its fun moments, but was ultimately a little too silly and cheesy for me. Also, I wasn't really invested in his friends' dreams because the movie rushed through their backstories.

98. The Con-Heartist
Thai Movie - 2020
It has a solid story, but I have to deduct a point for all gross spitting scenes and the eating with mouth open scene. It has silly humor and is fun, but at the end of the day it was nothing mind blowing. Decent watch, but just really weird at times.

99. Eye Love You
Japanese Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
I really wanted to like this because...
+ cool/interesting concept
+ it's otter themed
+ ML reminds me of an otter pup
+ chocolate
but I really struggled with watching this because...
- it's slow paced, especially in the second half
- annoying/dumb wrench in the relationship (that old man had no business meddling). -
100. Chicken Nugget
Korean Drama - 2024, 10 episodes
This was a really weird watch and I think it's safe to say that the humor is not what most kdrama fans are into. It felt really random and childish. Normally I'd be into random humor, but this failed to make me laugh (except for one or two scenes). The acting was also very childish. It reminded me of a children's show. I guess I had very different expectations. Maybe its better watch party material.
