Favorite Characters
List of my favorite characters (attached to each show's description) because MyDramaList doesn't have a favorite character option like MyAnimeList/Anilist does for some reason.
-
1. Tale of the Nine-Tailed
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
♥♥♥ Lee Rang portrayed by Kim Beom is my all time favorite K-Drama character and one of my favorite characters of all time across all media formats. (As an aside, I greatly prefer him in S1 as he was originally portrayed. He acts very different in S2, I guess because he's younger and at a different stage in his life in S2?)
---
I also like Ki Yuri portrayed by Kim Yong Ji, and Gu Shinju portrayed by Hwang Hee in S1. I also liked Su Oh, Taluipa, and Hyuneuiong. I like Lee Yeon and Nam Ji Ah as well on and off (I like them a lot in some scenes and circumstances but it's not a consistent feeling?) I love the entire cast of characters in S1 collectively more than in S2 and in most K-Dramas in general. I still mostly like the other characters more so because of their relationship to Lee Rang than because I'm a massive fan of them individually.
Lee Rang and Lee Yeon's relationship is my favorite relationship in K-Drama and probably my favorite fictional relationship of all time.

2. Ghost Doctor
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
♥♥ Go Seungtak portrayed by Kim Beom and Professor Cha Youngmin portrayed by Rain. I also liked the coma ghost side characters.
I like Seungtak as an individual character and his relationship with Youngmin a lot.
---
Outside of Lee Rang and Go Seungtak, the rest of this list are characters I only mildly liked while watching the show but am not seriously super attached to longterm/don't post about and think about a ton outside of when currently watching the show. I hope in the future I can find more K-Dramas where I am able to become more attached longterm to the characters the way I frequently am able to for other media formats such as webcomics/manhwa and anime/manga. I personally feel like most K-Dramas are written as more plot-driven and less character-driven stories than compared to most anime.

3. Padam Padam
Korean Drama - 2011, 20 episodes
Yang Kangchil played by Jung Woosung and Lee Gooksoo played by Kim Beom. I loved their relationship and also loved Kangchils' relationship with his son Im Jung played by Choi Taejoon.
I really liked Kangchil so much in this drama that he was close to being one of my top favorite characters who I was attached to longterm, but the finale kind of killed it for me a bit.

4. The Devil Judge
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Kang Yohan played by Ji Sung. I'm not sure why I'm not as attached to Yohan longterm as I expected to be, but I think he is an incredible character and hard carried this show. He feels like a character who should have a massive cult following and be considered a sort of pop culture icon.
I also liked Jung Sun Ah played by Kim Min Jung in a "this character is intriguing" rather than a rooting for her type of way. I liked Yohan's relationship with Kang Elijah played by Jeon Chae Eun.

5. Goblin
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
Grim Reaper portrayed by Lee Dongwook and Sunny portrayed by Yoo In Na.
-
6. True Beauty
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
Lee Su Ho portrayed by Cha Eun Woo and Lim Joo Gyung portrayed by Moon Ga Young. I also liked Han Seojun portrayed by Hwang Inyoup and Jugyeong's sister played by Im Semi (and her romance side plot).
-
7. Eulachacha Waikiki
Korean Drama - 2018, 20 episodes
Lee Joon Ki portrayed by Lee Yi Kyung. I also liked Yoon Ah and Sol.
-
8. Strangers from Hell
Korean Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
Seo Moonjo portrayed by Lee Dongwook. I like watching his relationship with Yoon Jongwoo played by Im Siwan.
-
9. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
Do Bong Soon portrayed by Park Bo Young and Ahn Min Hyuk portrayed by Park Hyung Sik.
-
10. Crash Landing on You
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Pyo Chi Su portrayed by Yang Kyung Won, Kim Ju Muk portrayed by Yoo Soo Bin, and Geum Eun Dong portrayed by Tang Jun Sang. I also liked the Rat.

11. All of Us Are Dead
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
Choi Namra portrayed by Jo Yihyun.
-
12. A Shop for Killers
Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
This story was not long enough to know virtually anything about the characters beyond a concept, but I liked the vibes of So Minhye played by Geum Haena.
