  1. Autumn’s Concerto:A beautiful and passionate love story is interrupted for six years. Manipulative and controlling people change the destiny of Ren Guang Xi (Vanness Wu) and Liang MuCheng (Ady An) when a serious health crisis arises. Six years later, the consequences of being separated are revealed and their love story overcomes many obstacles based on lies, misunderstandings and betrayals. They have to find the courage to love each other and fight to stay together when the memories of their past becomes a clear picture in the present. Timing once again is everything when it comes to true love and cherishing those you love is the key to finding happiness. There were a lot of truly moving scenes and other scenes left me feeling warm and happy. Andy An can cry as MuCheng. I cried too many times and sometimes couldn’t stop for a while. Xiao Le (Benny Wen) made me feel so many emotions. I wanted to hug him every time he appeared on screen. The cutest actor I’ve ever seen in my life. Love the crazy ending which, at first, made me frustrated and upset. I liked the way it wrapped up the different storylines of the many characters.

  • A Love So Beautiful

    1. A Love So Beautiful

    Chinese Drama - 2017, 23 episodes

    9.5

Big fan of Shen Yue. Her sincerity adds depth to the character, Chen Xiaoxi. The beauty within comes through and I wanted to cheer her on throughout the show. Loved the character more because Shen Yue is so believable in her role. Also, loved Hu Yitian as Jiang Chen. The love story was beautiful about two people who grew up together from kindergarten to college. Jiang Chen felt everyone in his family left him but Xiaoxi was always there for him. Their love grew in high school and college. After a misunderstanding, they separated for 3 years, but Jiang Chen went to get Xiaoxi back because he couldn’t live without her. Throughout the show, Wu Bo Song, played by Gao Zhi Ting, tried to win Xiaoxi’s love even though he always knew in his heart she only loved Jiang Chen. The show brought back my own coming of age emotions and all the insecurities that came with it. Growing up is painful, but finding someone you can’t live without and loves you for you is precious and forever.

    2. Accidentally in Love

    Chinese Drama - 2018, 30 episodes

I laughed out loud throughout the show. Loved the cast, especially Amy Sun and Fiction Guo. Amy was a believable “princess”...so beautiful and Fiction as an idol. They had great chemistry during both the serious and comedic scenes and therefore believable as a couple in this sweet love story. Loved it and watched the series in a very short time.

Every member of the cast made the show great!!! Bobby Dou and Huang Pei Jia played the main characters whose love story started in their childhood. The characters had to overcome social prejudice between their families, a love triangle, adoption, and memory loss. The other storylines included the relationship between other couples, friends and families. Loved this show!!

Unexpectedly believable chemistry between Jung So Min (Yoon Ji Ho)& Lee Min Ki(Nam Se Hee). They play single people who become housemates because they didn’t know they were living with the opposite sex. They become very compatible roommates with a lot in common and fall in love. They enter a marriage contract for convenience and have to deal with their parents. Later, it is discovered that Se Hee had a past lover with a tragic story that threatens their relationship. They end up getting married for real. Notable actor is Kim Min Kyu(Yeon Bok Nam). It was a touching love story and I was moved to tears.

My nephew recommended this and I was riveted and watched the whole series before him. I laughed but I also cried throughout the series. I am now a fan of Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin. I couldn’t guest how the story was going to end but I wasn’t disappointed. I highly recommend this but be warned that you might lose sleep trying to get to the end.

Story of unrequited love and a promise that started 60 years ago which affects two families in the present. Lan Cheng-lung & Joe Chen have good chemistry playing the main characters. However, the camera loves Roy Chiu. He stole the scenes he was in. He played a line shark type and grandson of a rich pharmaceutical owner.

    Taiwanese Drama - 2008, 24 episodes

  • Find Yourself

    11. Find Yourself

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 41 episodes

    10

Unbelievable cast and chemistry between Song Weilong(Yuan Song) & Victoria Song(He Fan Xing). Great storyline about a 32 year old female boss/administrator and 22 year old Handsome designer who fall in love. Their screen chemistry left me breathless, happy,& heartbroken(I cried). Bring in David Wang(Ye LuMing) as part of the love triangle. His portrayal of a nurturing uncle to Esther Yu’s character as Cai Min Min was beautiful. Esther Yu made me fall in love with her character and she was a scene stealer. A lesson in love, which can’t be forced or controlled and it takes work to keep it. Lastly, the friendship that developed between Fan Xing & LuMing was beautiful.

Loved the cast!!! Fukuhara Haruka (Yoshikawa Nao) & Shiraishi Shunya (Uehara Hisashi) made a believable couple. They accidentally become roommates because of a scam. Hisashi is popular in school and is drawn to his roommate because she sees his true self. He rescued her from bullies and a pretend couple fall for each other. Others fall for Nao because of the genuine person she is. Notable performances: Sugino Yosuke(Natsume Shu) & Sakurada Dori(Shinozaki Daichi).

  • Memory Love

    14. Memory Love

    Taiwanese Drama - 2017, 18 episodes

    8.0

A love story between a master pastry chef (a heart transplant recipient), Xing ShaoTian(Andy Chen) & Qiao Jia En (Mandy Wei), a recovering car accident victim who lost her memory. Her boyfriend died in the same accident and his heart was donated to Shao Tian, but Jia En found out only after her memory started to come back. JiaEn ends up working for ShaoTian at his family ranch/restaurant. Storylines revolve around betrayal by family and friends, resentment, heartbreak and second chances. It’s about letting go and learning forgiveness through love. I loved the way they explained the origin of pastry names and the love stories behind the names. For example, tiramisu’s symbolism: “I want to share your burdens” & “stay with me”. ShaoTian baked it for JiaEn to express himself. Some of the side stories were a little distracting and sometimes made the show drag on. I did have a craving for dessert. I did love the marriage proposal in the woods...beautiful and so romantic. I also appreciated all the lol moments throughout the series. Finally, Andy Chen really was a scene stealer even with the dog. There were no bad angels on the screen, as far as Andy goes...gorgeous!!!

I couldn’t stop watching and was obsessed with completing the series. The acting was outstanding at every level. The surprises fooled me every time. I think my heart stopped a few times. Sung Hoon & Song Ji Eun sizzle on screen as a couple who have a one-night stand and meet 3 years later. I felt like I was watching a GQ cover come to life because Sung Hoon was dressed like a model with the beautiful suits and his perfect chiseled features. Also, the camera loves Kim Jar-Young.

Jung Hae In and Han Ji Min play a pharmacist (Yoo Ji Ho) and a librarian (Lee Jung In) who meet when Jung In visits a pharmacy to relieve her hangover. At the time, Jung In is in a serious relationship with another man but was already questioning and struggling with her true feelings. • Put Your Head on My Shoulder

    20. Put Your Head on My Shoulder

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 24 episodes

    9.5

Beautiful love story about an accounting/advertising college student (Si Tu Mo aka Momo) played by beautiful Fair Xing and a scientist/student, Gu Wei Yi, played by Lin Yi. Momo had to let go of her years long crush on Fu Pei, played by Daddi Tang, before she was free to love Gu Wei Yi. Opposites attract in this story, but the chemistry on screen was a breathless experience. With the suggestion of their mothers, long-time friends, the main characters lived together and their attraction grew into love. The other love story between Fu Pei and Wang Shan, played by Zheng Ying Chen, was also beautiful. Great cast, including the two actresses who played the mothers of the main characters. Lastly, the scene where Su Tu Mo appeared in her wedding dress while Zhu Wei Yi looked totally mesmerized reminded me how my husband looked at me when he first saw me in my wedding dress. I fell in love with Momo and Zhu Wei Yi. So romantic!!

  • Romance Is a Bonus Book

    21. Romance Is a Bonus Book

    Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes

Lee Na Young and Lee Jong Suk had great chemistry. The gorgeous Lee Jong Suk played a young chief editor of a publishing firm who is in love with his older best friend. When she gets a divorce (with a daughter in boarding school) they end up living together while working with him as a temp. Na Young’s character brought me to tears when she was homeless in the beginning. As the strength and confidence of her character grew, so did the realization that she loved her best friend who was already in love with her. Their love story was beautiful!!!!

    23. The Color of a Woman

    Korean Drama - 2011, 20 episodes

    9.5

Warning: I had a craving for soju and Korean food after watching this series. Yoon So Yi really had me laughing and crying throughout the series. She really brought out the emotional highs and lows that her character went through. There were a lot of episodes and I couldn’t wait to find out the ending.

  • The Heirs

    24. The Heirs

    Korean Drama - 2013, 20 episodes

    9.5

Park Shin-Hye and Lee Min Ho played two people who fell in love and had to fight the prejudices of the elite social class to have the right to stay together. For me, Kim Woo-Bin was a scene stealer who played a bully whose character evolved through love.

  • The Liar and His Lover

    25. The Liar and His Lover

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    10

A must watch if you’re a fan of Joy of Red Velvet. Her acting was really believable as a high school student turned up and coming singing talent. It took me a minute to realize it was Joy because she looked so different. It addresses the price of fame and sacrifices that are made and the struggle to be true to yourself. It was also a beautiful and sweet love story.

  • When I See You Again

    29. When I See You Again

    Taiwanese Drama - 2015, 20 episodes

    9.5

Jasper Liu and Mandy Wei played characters who became friends during high school against all odds. She was beautiful and popular and he was “uni-brow” who was bullied but rescued by the heroine. Years later, Jasper’s character has gone through a makeover and is a successful businessman. Mandy’s character struggles to keep her bed and breakfast business open. She refuses to sell because her dad has passed and she never gave up hoping her mom will show up someday. It was their destiny to meet again and fall in love and the heroine’s mother unexpectedly turns out to be the boss of the male character, Xia You Qian). The mother/daughter relationship was heartwarming in the end. Had to cheer the characters as they struggled to find themselves and love without conditions.

  • Love @ Seventeen

    30. Love @ Seventeen

    Taiwanese Drama - 2016, 15 episodes

    9.5

The bond of friendship is heartwarming and believable because of the great chemistry among the cast of friends: Lego Lee(Ho Hao Yi), Nikki Hsieh(AiLiSi),Edison Wang(Song Han Ming/Peter),Amanda Chou(Bai ShuLei/LeiLei),Alina Zheng(Liu .XiaoFen). Four were high school best friends until a terrible misunderstanding led to the end of their friendship. At the time, Ho Hai Yi and AiLiSi started to become more than friends and were attracted to each other, but the opportunity was lost with the lost of their friendship. AiLiSi was bullied without their knowledge and transferred to another school. Her friends felt betrayed and abandoned. Only Song Han Ming knew why she left. Thirteen years later, fate brought them together but AiLiSi suffered a health crisis and lost her memory. She woke up thinking she was 17 again. The support of Ho Hao Yi and friends helped her regain her memories but threatened her relationship with Ho Hao Yi. The reconciliation among the old friends melted the ice around AiLiSi’s heart. For 13 years she tried to protect her heart by keeping everyone around her away. She tried to push her friends away again and end her relationship with Ho Hao Yi when her continued life threatening illness reared it’s ugly head. Her friends refused to let her disappear again and this time she went to Ho Hao Yi to stay with her. In the end, their love wasn’t a second chance but the “one and only” and there was no running away from it. Lastly, I have to mention Nikki’s heart wrenching acting because her soulful eyes showed pain that made me cry; Joy, that made me feel happiness; and most of all genuine love. She really drew me in and I felt it to my soul.

  • My Dear Boy

    31. My Dear Boy

    Taiwanese Drama - 2017, 20 episodes

    10

Great cast!!! Derek Chang (An Qing Hui) plays a handsome and totally adorable 20 year old college art student who falls for a beautiful, ageless 30 year old established tv/film director, Ruby Lin(Luo Xiao Fei). Her long term affair with a famous director ended and met Qing Hui accidentally at a restaurant. They ended up sharing a dinner where she got drunk and he took care of her. Coincidences put them constantly in each other’s lives and a close relationship grew into romantic love. Despite their age gap, they found themselves able to be themselves around each other and they ended up working in the same industry. Xiao Fei tried to deny falling for Qing Hui by dating a man her sister set her up with, love and chemistry can’t be forced. When she finally accepted the love she and Qing Hui shared, their families refused to accept it. There was also a big secret Xiao Fei confessed to Qing Hui. Love and timing is sometimes off and in this story, it was the case. Qing Hui needed to prove he could take care of and protect Xiao Fei so he went to Australia for 5 years. He came home as an award winning director, but couldn’t connect with Xiao Fei. Their lives intersected in unexpected ways and their love couldn’t be denied. The actresses who played Ms. An and 6yr old Nien-Shih gave great performances and there was a heart wrenching scene later in the series. Also, I love the actors who played Nicholai(Greg Hsu) & Goa Pi(Zhang Guang). They played the best friends of Qing Hui: great friends chemistry. Lastly, I did notice the actor, Chou Min Fu(Pi Tan).

  • Diamond Lover (Special Cut)

    32. Diamond Lover (Special Cut)

    Chinese Drama - 2017, 24 episodes

    9.0

The main character, Mi Duo, was hit by a car and had to undergo reconstructive surgery which changed her from an unattractive and very obese woman to a beautiful woman. She left her former identity behind as Mi Mei Li to become Mi Duo. As Mi Mei Li, she had been fired from an ad agency just before the car accident. As Mi Duo, she was an aspiring jewelry designer for the biggest diamond firm. The head of the firm, Xiao Liang, is attracted to the sincerity of Mu Duo and their romance and love blossoms. The beautiful Tiffany Tang plays Mi Duo and really lights up the screen in every scene. Not to be outdone is the very gorgeous Rain, who plays Xiao Liang. I had watched Princess Weiyoung, starring Tiffany Tang and Luo Jin months ago so their unbelievable chemistry in this drama really was apparent and undeniable. Although Rain oozes talent and X factor status, especially after watching old Korean music videos of him, I felt there should’ve been more sexual tension/romantic scenes between Mi Duo and Xiao Liang. Luo Jin plays Mi Duo’s best friend, Lei Yi Ming who falls in love with her. His unrequited love touched my heart. The scenes between Rain and Luo Jin during the later episodes had a believable bromance chemistry that I really enjoyed. The beautiful Dilraba Dilmurat played Gao Wen, a famous idol and love interest for Lei Yi Ming. She was a scene stealer and I wished she had a bigger role. I also wanted the storyline between her and Lei Yi Ming to go in a happier direction. Lastly, the whole keeping the plastic surgery a secret was frustrating to me because I didn’t think it was such a big secret to keep and the ultimate storyline behind all the hardships the main characters faced and had to overcome. The ending made me want more.

  • Underwear

    33. Underwear

    Japanese Drama - 2015, 13 episodes

    9.5

Great cast! The story is about a young woman ,who studied textiles , Tokita Mayuko (Kiritani Mirei ) & gets a job at a luxury lingerie shop owned by it’s designer/creator, Nanjo Mayumi(Daichi Mao). Mayuko learns the behind the scenes creative process in making beautiful luxury lingerie and eventually becomes the shop’s head of PR. Her relationship with her boss grows into respect and admiration on both sides. Mayumi made many painful sacrifices throughout the years to design lingerie that lives up to her standard of beauty. It included a broken marriage and a son she saw only twice since he was 5. There is a meeting between her and her 36 year old son who is about to get married. It was a beautiful and touching scene. The meeting helped Mayumi let go of regrets and move forward. Eventually, Mayuko realized she wanted to create her own idea of beautiful lingerie and decides to go independent. She leaves Mayumi with the fire to expand her lingerie line to include older clients. The overall story is about the freedom to express beauty in more than one person’s perspective and listening to your heart.

  • Love, Now

    34. Love, Now

    Taiwanese Drama - 2012, 72 episodes

    9.0

Lan Shi-de(George Hu) & Yang Yi-ru (Annie Chen) first met 6 years ago in college. In the present, Yi-ru is pranked by her boss and family thinking she has cancer and only 6 months to live. They did it because she was a 27 year old workaholic about to turn 28. She goes on vacation and meets Shi-de who decides to fulfill the wishes she had if she had more time. They have a wedding before Yi-ru finds out she wasn’t sick. There was so much chemistry that I felt like I needed to throw ice water at the tv. Wow! What a hot couple. Back home, the couple meet again after Yi-ru ran away. The story is about love, family and friendships. The love story between Shi-de & Yi-ru connects the Lan and Yang families in many unexpected ways. I especially liked the interactions between the Lan women. Grandma Lan (Shen Hai Rong) was a scene stealer. I loved the close knit Lan and Yang families and Sun Qi-ming. In episode 49, I was touched by the reunion between Qi-ming & his mother. The piggy back ride made me cry. Later, there was a serious health crisis that affected both the Yang and Lan families. The support of all parties was key. The explanation about the many hourglass scenes was explained by Yi-ru who saw it as a symbol of cherishing every second, every grain of sand was precious. The three marriage proposals were romantic and beautifully executed. Who wouldn’t say yes? They left me breathless. Lastly, I didn’t appreciate the roller coaster ride that I went through to get to the ending. I was really sad at one point. Also, I think 72 episodes wasn’t necessary for the show. Overall, I did enjoy it,

  • Love Around

    35. Love Around

    Taiwanese Drama - 2013, 21 episodes

    9.0

First, there were 33, not 21 episodes. Once again, the sizzling hot couple Liang Xiao Shu and Zhou Zhen were played by Annie Chen and George Hu. I can’t get enough of their chemistry. The story is about two people who were dumped and accidentally meet at a batting cage. Through many coincidental meetings and common heartache experiences, they form a “singles” friendship bond and their relationship develops into love. Xiao Shu has to learn to accept Zhen’s father’s former life as a triad boss, complicated by the fact that her father was a former cop. A family tragedy 14 years ago threatened to destroy their love. Because of the secrets that protected one family, at the sacrifice of another, the families had to learn acceptance and forgiveness. Xiao Shu and Zehn learned that their relationship takes 2 people for it to last. The lights and fireworks towards the end was very romantic. The song, “Come Back To Me” was beautiful, but I wished it was completely translated in English. Notable actresses were Mandy Tao (Ying Ying), who plays a spoiled “princess “ with a heart and Ai Zhen Tan (Grandma Mei Li) who I wished was my grandma. Grandma Chen was adorable and lovable. Finally, the quote from Episode 33 summarizes the show,”Before I met love, the world I knew had only black and white, right and wrong. Afterwards, I learned that these are not what’s needed in life, but thoughtfulness and tolerance”. Xiao Shu Liang

  • Love Cheque Charge

    36. Love Cheque Charge

    Taiwanese Drama - 2014, 74 episodes

    8.5

There were too many episodes. Gorgeous George Hu(He Bu Fan) and Phoebe Yuan (Xu Man Man) play the roles of two people who met 3 years ago when Bu Fan broke up with Man Man on behalf of Bo Hai. Man Man cries uncontrollably so Bu Fan shuts her up by writing a cheque that’s a promise to marry her if she isn’t married by her 30th birthday. 3 years later, Man Man pranks Bu Fan, after a chance meeting, by demanding he keep his promise. Bu Fan ends up being the new GM (moving back from the U.S.) where Man Man works with his younger brother, Guan Yu (Jet Chao). They develop a romantic relationship full of physical and emotional obstacles. Bu Fan eventually believes they aren’t fated to stay together. The main lesson was that God is unconditional love and people hurt others and cause pain. God doesn’t punish people who love each other. The relationship between Bo Hai and Bu Fan was a great storyline. However, the character of Bo Hai really deserved to be developed more. In fact, Bo Hai’s character was my favorite part of the show. Ken Hsieh and Jet Chao, in my opinion, are “leading man” material. The cast was very talented. However, I could do without the Victoria storyline. There should’ve been more emphasis on Bo Hai. Big applause for the actors who played the very lovable triplets. They deserved more screen time. I have to mention the passport incident involving Bu Fan towards the end. I was in tears laughing uncontrollably best it was so funny during an emotional scene!!!I wonder if the cast laughed too during filming. Overall, it was a true drama because the story was far from real life. I give credit to many touching moments throughout, especially involving the emotional growth of Man Man, the provider and brave, strong heroine.

  • Introverted Boss

    37. Introverted Boss

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    9.5

    Introverted Boss
    Korean Drama
The cast was amazing and Yeon Woo Jin (Eun Hwan-gi) and Park Hye Soo (Chae Ro-un) had perfect chemistry for the storyline. Park gave a soul wrenching performance from the beginning drawing me into her pain , a testament to her great acting. Yeon made me feel the loneliness that the introverted character felt being misunderstood and unable to express himself. Park’s character slowly tore down the walls and I felt the joy the character, Hwan-gi, felt when he began to open the doors to let people in. The subject of suicide and self harm is always a painful subject and I felt the pain throughout the show. I do have to mention the very romantic, but hot shower kiss between Hwan-gi and Ro-un. Furthermore, there were a lot of lol moments to balance out some of the tearful moments.

  • Revolutionary Love

    38. Revolutionary Love

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    8.0

First, I have to thank the handsome cast because these shows usually have maybe 2 handsome men in a show. I counted at least 4 handsome men: Lee Jae Yoon(gorgeous and I would love to see him in more lead roles), Choi Shi Won, Gong Myung & Kang Young Seok. I wanted more romantic scenes between the characters Byun Hyuk and Baek Jun, not just the dream sequences. I have to give Choi Shi Won credit for the incredible facial expressions he made throughout the show. The quote , “Just like paint spreading in water, slowly but graciously, you have painted my heart with your colors. And now, I can never go back to my colorless old self. Just like that, you painted my heart with your colors” sums up the show. The freedom to be yourself is possible through love.

  • Here to Heart

    39. Here to Heart

    Chinese Drama - 2018, 48 episodes

    9.0

    Chinese Drama
I felt like I hit the “beautiful people jackpot” throughout the show. What a cast!!! Hans Zhang(Zhan Nan Xian) and Janine Chang (Wen Nuan), a real-life couple, had the most amazing chemistry on screen that kept me engaged and mesmerized. The story of first love, interrupted by events that were both heartbreaking and tragic, which led to their continuing story of destiny seven years later. Janine Chang really made me feel the pain and despair that her character, Wen Nuan, had to deal with in order to move on and find forgiveness and true love. Hans Zhang brought out the feelings of longing that Nanxian felt for the only woman in his heart and the pain from heartbreak. Jocelyn Zhou (Wen Rou) brought out the sisterly love that existed between Rou and Nuan. Also, Jing Chao (Zhu Lin Lu) ,Mr. handsome, made me feel conflicted because he played a best friend going through unrequited love beautifully. I couldn’t decide whether I wanted him to get the girl or not throughout the show. The exquisitely beautiful Jenny Zhang (YiXin) played the perfect idol/actress also going through unrequited love. Episode 17 made me cry when Nuan and Nanxian did a duet to their song, “If Without You.” They left me feeling breathless. Episode 29 had to be one of the most romantic scenes between Nuan and Nanxian with the dance, here to heart stamp necklace, rose petals and candles. I loved the way the scene ended with the closing of the blinds. Brilliant! Episode 38 was beautiful when Nuan came back after a short absence and the beautiful song played as she turned around and was reunited with Nanxian. This show was full of romance and beautiful locations and sets. Loved it!!!I really wanted to see Nuan in the wedding dress. The ending was beautiful. Hans and Janine are unforgettable.

  • That Winter, the Wind Blows

    40. That Winter, the Wind Blows

    Korean Drama - 2013, 16 episodes

    9.5

Jo In Sung (Oh Soo) is who I describe as a “Super X-Factor” actor with his piercing eyes. Song Hye Kyo(Oh Young) was the queen of tears. Jo kept me riveted to the screen and Song made me feel the darkness and loneliness of her character, a lonely and sheltered blind heiress. Jo played a believable con man/gambler who was framed by an ex and had no choice but to find a way to stay alive and pay a debt. He was abandoned by his mother and life had never been fair. The painful consequences of his actions when his life is intertwined with Young turns into a complicated love story. The title of the movie, to me, meant Soo was like the wind in the winter of Young’s life when life was meaningless because it was empty and full of darkness, until his light and passion to live became the beginning of their love story. By the Spring, Young had stepped into the light because she loved Soo and his love gave her the reasons to want to live. Notable actors were Kim Bum (Park Jin Sung) & Kim Tae Woo (Joo Moo Chul). Their characters were played with passion. The whole cast was great.

  • Someone Like You

    41. Someone Like You

    Taiwanese Drama - 2015, 20 episodes

    9.0

The cast was talented. The main characters were played by Kingone Wang (Fang Zhan Cheng) & beautiful Lorene Jen (Liang Luo Han/Chen Yuxi). The title should be “Dancing in Darkness and Light”. Listening with your heart will lead you to the light, allowing you to live again. The person who loves you and you love is your light. In this beautiful love story, Yuxi and ZhanCheng find romance and love in the shadow of a devastating tragedy. They learn that what makes people different is what’s inside and not appearances. Also, true love is about giving and receiving love in equal measure in order to achieve happiness. I have to mention the many facial expressions of Lorene Jen during the lol moments as well as the serious ones. She was believable as two different characters throughout the show. Also, there were many romantic moments: meteor showers on the Happiness yacht, tango dances, lantern ceremony, the blinged our train “pumpkin carriage”, lit up legendary tree. The funniest moment had to be the shower scene peep show. Laughed really loud. The other memorable scenes were the wedding and shooting stars over water proposal. Lastly, the ending didn’t disappoint. It was a very romantic and beautiful story.

  • Inborn Pair

    42. Inborn Pair

    Taiwanese Drama - 2011, 84 episodes

    9.5

The entire talented cast made the 84 episodes worth watching until the end. Annie Chen (Song Yi Jie) & Chris Wang(Ke Wei Xiang) play the main characters whose love story started before they were born and, years later, resulted in a contract marriage. The couple agree to a year long “fake marriage” but destiny can’t be denied. Their love story forever changes the lives of the Song and Ke families as the couple experiences the growing pains of true love. There were romantic scenes like the carousel apology, baking with love, crosswalk songs and signs for reconciliation, and the LOVE lights. The show is also about other love stories, betrayal, past romances, divorce and second chances. Chris Wu as Zhao Dong Yang, part of YiJie’s past, made me cry the most, feeling the pain of the consequences that were the results of the choices he made. Enter Xiao Xing and the cuteness factor of the show went up 200%. Adorable! Not to mention the incredible comedic timing of the cast like Ken Hsieh, Ai Zhen Tan, Yang LiYin & Chen Bo Zheng. The biggest lesson learned is the marriage between two people takes courage and effort by both parties but isn’t just about two people but also two families. Finally, the ending made me feel good inside, especially the way the many storylines were wrapped up.

The love story between Guan Xiao Tong (Ivelyn Li) & Ji Jia-Wei (Danson Tang) started after both went through a devastating break up with their mates and unknowingly meet by chance. A car accident forever changes their lives . A year later, Jia-Wei opens Renew Agent of Divorce, a sort of full service wedding planning in reverse where couples have a ceremony with invited guests . The service provided the opportunity for married couples to break up peacefully and end their relationship on good terms. Xiao Tong is a psychologist who is known online as Dr. Love and works for a dating agency. The two agencies are across the street from each other. At first, Jia-Wei & Xiao Tong don’t get along, including their theories on love. To complicate matters, Xiao Tong believes her life centers around Murphy’s Law and is therefore cursed. They form a relationship where one is controlling and the other puts others first. Enter gorgeous chef, Zi-Yan (Jolin Chien) & ex-love, Zhi Yu (beautiful Jenna Wang) and things get complicated. Secrets and unresolved feelings threaten to break up Xiao Tong and Jia-Wei forever. Confronting their true selves and having the courage to love freely is a testament to true love. The show has several romantic moments like the the man’s shirt on Xiao Tong scene, the serenade “Love Mission”, and the yacht dinner. The onscreen chemistry between Tang and Li is undeniable. Li has beautiful puppy dog eyes and Tang has the brooding good looks of a leading man. Also, the cast of both agencies had the friendship chemistry that was believable and provided some of the funny and sometimes touching scenes throughout the show. Adorable ending and loved the show

  • Another Miss Oh

    44. Another Miss Oh

    Korean Drama - 2016, 18 episodes

    9.0

This is a love story that revolves around mistaken identity of two women named Oh Hae Young (#1: Seo Hyun) & (#2:Jeon Hye Bin). DoKyung(Eric Mun)is a film sound director who is dumped at the altar and seeks revenge a year later, but targets the wrong Oh Hae Young. There are serious consequences and heart break, including the cancellation of a wedding. DoKyung suddenly has visions of a woman that he ends up having a romantic relationship with, whose name is the same as his ex-fiancée. He also has visions about his death and truly believes he’s going to die soon. This effects how he views love but has to learn to open his heart in order to change his vision of death. Hae Young #1 shows him how to love without fear and he has to turn to love in order to face their destiny. The show provides plenty of romance, including their hot kiss against a wall after a struggle& the love confession under an umbrella. The incredibly funny scenes throughout the show had me laughing more than I’ve ever laughed watching a show ever!!! The comedic scene stealer often came from Ye Ji Won who played “Isadora/Soo Kyung). Also, the plunger scene towards the end had me laughing uncontrollably. The facial expressions of Heo Jung Min as Park Hoon made the scene extra hilarious. Moreover, I appreciated the many strong female characters in the show. Lastly, a beautiful wedding is an added bonus, I was happy throughout the show and fell in love with the cast.

    45. Itaewon Class

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

I couldn’t wait to get to the ending!!! Such a great show with an amazingly talented cast. Park Seo Joon plays Park Sae Royi, a loner whose life changes dramatically when he transfers to another school and stands up to a bully, who comes from a wealthy family. He meets Oh SooAh(beautiful Nara) who is his first friend and first love. A car accident and a cover up leads to revenge that lasts for over a decade between SaeRoyi and Jang Dae Hee and Jang Guen Won. Enter Kim Da Mi as the fearless social influencer with brains, Jo YiSeo. Kim lit up the screen as soon as she appeared and I couldn’t help but wish her character got everything she wanted, including SaeRoyi. SaeRoyi needed someone like YiSeo who gave her life to help him succeed in business, revenge, love and success. SaeRoyi needed YiSeo and their love story went through a lot of challenges and years to grow into something precious and worth holding on to. In the end, living a life without sacrificing your values and building trust over gain was the key prosperity. Having the love of friends and falling in love equals happiness. “I wanted to be happy without losing myself” sums up the story from beginning to end. Loved this show so much and is worth seeing again. Lastly, the kisses at the end were worth waiting for.

“Beautiful “ describes this show. Beautiful people, storylines, love stories and fashion, fashion, fashion. I think Dilraba Dilmurat is one of the most beautiful women in the world and perfect in the role of Zhou Fang who walks away from her unfaithful fiancé and runs into Song Lin. Handsome Johnny Huang held his own in every scene with Dilraba. Their chemistry was amazing and every time Song Lin told Zhou Fang how pretty and beautiful she is, my heart melted. I fell in love with Song Lin (& Johnny Huang). Their first kiss with the fireworks: WOW!!! In one scene, Zhou Fang told Song Lin, that she cares about the “true and whole you”...not the perfect version of Song Lin. She would stand by him no matter what. So romantic!!! I was touched by the relationship between Song Lin and his sister, Luo Luo, especially the scene when she falls asleep holding his hand, just before going abroad. Also, the relationship between BFF’s Zhou Fang and QinQing (Viann Zhang) felt genuine and precious. “The meeting of two people is never a coincidence “ sums up the storylines throughout the show. Loved the OST. Overall a very romantic and beautiful show.

Unbelievable chemistry between beautiful Joanne Tseng (Zhang YuTang) & handsome Aaron Yan (Ji WenKai). I couldn’t look away from the screen whenever they looked into each other’s eyes. Aaron Yan has eyes that drew me in with his perfect good looks. Total heartthrob status!!!The love story between YuTang and WenKai started in high school where their friendship grew into something more. Ten years later, after WenKai grew from a non-achiever into a CEO of a cosmetic company, he planned to fulfill his promise to YuTang’s mother to look after her and always protect her. First, he had to turn her into someone ambitious and willing to work hard to achieve her goals. Their reunion, after losing touch for ten years, turned into a romantic love story, which grew from an unforgettable friendship. The first kiss on the freeway overpass left me breathless, especially when WenKai told YuTang he loves her. The work plot twists left me guessing and hoping my intuition about the storyline was correct. I was right, thank God. I should mention that gorgeous Lene Lai as Elsa kept me in suspense as to which side her character was on. Lastly, the storyline around Team 3 sales force was heartwarming and uplifting. Loved the Team 3 cast. I recommend this for the romantics among us.

  • Iron Ladies

    49. Iron Ladies

    Taiwanese Drama - 2018, 13 episodes

    8.0

Spoiler alert: this show revolves around the story of three friends who are fierce women learning to live life on their own terms, including career and relationships. The main characters, Zhou KaiTing(Aviis Zhang) & SuCan(Ben Wu) fall in Love despite their 8 year age difference, SuCan is the younger man. They are believable as a couple who has to learn to lean on each other, but also accept their different goals. It was a sweet romantic love story and I appreciate any storyline where an older woman falls for a younger man. Of course, it helps that Ben Wu is really adorably handsome. Furthermore, the courage it took for KaiTing to let SuCan study abroad for two years when she had to deal with an unexpected pregnancy was another testament to living life and making decisions on her own terms. She learned that an Iron Lady can fulfill her dreams without sacrificing her principles. The ending was also sweet when SuCan came back and gave KaiTing a kiss during her live/stream to talk about her company, along with the couple and their baby. Lastly, the fashion and beautiful people, a gorgeous cast, were a bonus.

Spoiler alert: XueTong(Li Ting Ting) decided at the end who her true love is, Mucheng He(Juck Zhang)...Thank God!!! I’m happy but the ending could’ve been more romantic. Their love story started out with a misunderstanding. Later, Mucheng, a Phd student at Tung Hu University substituted for a Russian class where XueTong became the class representative. His obsessive physics lab experiment and alcohol problem led to a painful break up, which left me in tears. Xue Tong’s friend, LiuQi (Chen Bo Hao) became her short lived new boyfriend. However, her heart belonged to Mucheng. The story is also about XueTong’s BFF’s and college dorm mates who juggled school and relationships and growing pains with life choices. The entire cast made the characters believable and made me feel their joys and sadness. The chemistry between the BFF’s was beautiful. Living life without regrets is the key to happiness. I highly recommend this story.

    51. Fall in Love With Me

    Taiwanese Drama - 2014, 20 episodes

    7.5

Spoiler Alert: Thank God Lu Tian Xing (Aaron Yan) and Tao Le Si (Tia Li) had a romantic wedding at the end. The most handsome man, who I think is a perfect 10, actor Aaron Yan is the reason to watch a show like this. Especially the shower scene at the beginning and all the shirtless scenes in between. Shameless but unforgettable. Also, Tia Li is real convincing when it comes to any scene where she sheds tears. The story that an Ad exec can convince a small agency (Oz) that he’s Xiao Lu and not Lu Tian Xing was a stretch as far as storylines go. The chemistry between Aaron and Tia was beautiful and made the love story heartwarming. However, this was the first time I was irritated by the unrequited love stories instead of feeling empathy. Beatrice Fang really played HuanHaun convincingly because I really hated the dependent and spoiled character whose tantrums hurt my ears. Waiting a decade to declare love was too much for me because life’s too short to wait for someone to love you. The wedding between HaunHaun and Lu Tian Xing was a long way around teaching the viewer that happiness can’t be forced.

Spoiler Alert: have lots of tissue handy. This is a love story that spans decades between Kee Kang (Yoon Kye Sang) and Moon Cha Young. They were destined to meet as young children and later as adults. The hospice storylines were heartbreakingly painful and made me cry throughout the show. The cast was really amazingly talented. This is a must see. The only reason I didn’t give this a perfect score is that I felt the ending left me hanging. After myup and down journey with the characters, I expected more. Maybe another episode?

  • Just You

    53. Just You

    Taiwanese Drama - 2013, 21 episodes

    8.0

Spoiler Alert: Perfect 10, Aaron Yan, plays QiYi, the owner and CEO at Gaze Design who has a no work romance policy and breaking it means termination. Puff Kuo is optimistic, Miss Sunshine, Cheng Liang Liang whose goal is to get rid of the policy. When QiYi buys his childhood home, Liang Liang becomes his tenant/employee. Of course they fall for each other. Romance among the co workers, despite the policy, becomes the norm and leads to consequences. QiYi’s Ex-fiancée shows up and uses psychological bribery to try to break up QiYi and Liang Liang. There are LOL moments, especially the tub scene when Liang Liang has to wash QiYi when he has a bathroom accident and can’t use one arm. Also drunk Liang Liang bringing the Cupid statue home. Hysterical! Romantic scenes are in abundance like the crosswalk scene where Liang Liang shouts her confession to QiYi about liking him. The chemistry between the office cast was amazing. I wished Dean (Dean Fujioka ) had more storylines because his character deserved more. Also, the proposal scene between QiYi and Liang Liang could’ve been more romantic and there should’ve been a wedding scene for them. The ending was adorable. Any kissing scenes with Aaron with his hypnotic gaze is always a breathless scene stealing moment.

  • Love Family

    54. Love Family

    Taiwanese Drama - 2013, 72 episodes

    7.5

This story had 72 very long episodes. Thank goodness for the very funny scenes between Long Shi (Jack Li) and Wan Sheng Ren (Chris Wang). I laughed so much and was happy to see both actors in a comedic role, when they weren’t in a serious scene. Rabbit Yang as Xu You Meng was cuteness times 1000 and was a definite scene stealer. She can go from cute and happy to heartbreaking tears. I loved the Xu family, especially Xu You Ai’s (Serena Fang) love for her sisters and parents. Spoiler alert: 20 years ago, Sheng Ren met his “angel”, You Ai. In the present, they reunited and fell in love. An old family feud and a genetic family disease threatened to break them up for good. You Ai refused to give up and her plan to stay by Sheng Ren’s side forever brought me to tears and I was furious at the same time because of Sheng Ren’s refusal to share his burden. Cut to their 5th anniversary and two boys, the teaser at the senior home made my heart stop for a beat. Finally, it was great to see You Ai fit in as a woman in charge at Wansing Group along side her husband’s successes. The cast was outstanding.

    9.5

Spoiler alerts: I enjoyed this Supernatural, Fantasy love story. There was beautiful chemistry between Lee Seung Gi (Son Oh Gong) &Oh Yeon Seo (Jin Seo Mi/SamJang), which created some passionately romantic scenes. The excellent cast provided more chemistry between the many characters in the show. Cha Seung Won gave serious and, many times, LOL moments with his many facial expressions. So talented!! The main characters, OhGong & SeoMin, had to fight together to kill evil spirits and SeoMin’s special blood, once believed to be a curse, was the key to save the world from evil forces. Geumganggo, a bracelet Oh Song can’t take off, forces him to protect SeoMi and love her. True love is tested and questioned based on whether or not Geumganggo is the real reason OhSong loves SeoMi . Things are clearer once the viewer understands the power of Geumganggo. Lastly, the ending was a great way to offer the viewer hope that the love story between OhGong and SeoMi is forever. “We will meet again” says it all...

    Korean Drama - 2018, 6 episodes

    9.5

Spoiler alert: watch this short drama without distractions and listen to your heart. It is a tragic story of longing and eternal love based on a true story. I am a fan of Lee Jong Suk who plays a married playwright, Kim Woo Jin, and falls in love with a music student, Yun Shim Deok, played by Shin Hye Sun. I was moved throughout the drama, mostly in tears. Their love story spans five years, separated by filial duties. They struggle to live their lives being who they are versus what is expected of them. Their souls are slowly dying and they are exhausted and long for peace that life can’t give them. My heart ached feeling their pain because I know inner peace can only be found when you are allowed to love unconditionally. Their first and last dance alone on the ship’s deck, before sunrise, under a full moon and the sad hymn playing, flashbacks of their times together, had me in tears, holding my breath, knowing what their fate would be. The waves loudly crashing at the end. “Are you truly living? No, I am yearning for death in order to truly live.”5/4/1926The Theory of Death and Life

Spoiler Alert: This is one of the dramas where the younger version of the two main characters actually look like their older versions. Ha Seung Ri(younger Ha No Ra) really brings out the young, pretty, spirited, smart and vivacious girl who dreams of becoming a great dancer. Her braveness and confidence allows awkward younger Cha Hyun Suk (Kim Hee Chan) to believe in his dream of becoming a great producer. No Ra also becomes his best friend and first love. Enter 23 year old Kim Woo Chul who becomes No Ra’s lover. NoRa becomes a mother at 19 and she and Woo Chul marry and move to Germany. For 4 years, NoRa’s isolated from others in a foreign land where she has only her son to interact with as her husband pursued his dreams. How does a girl with courage and spirit become a shadow whose universe revolves around her husband and son? Her narcissistic husband created the person she becomes for 20 years. 38 year old NoRa (Choi Ji-Woo)decides to go to college to better communicate with her husband even though they have a notarized divorce agreement that hasn’t been registered. There are complications when her son and husband end up at the same university as student and Professor. Also, Cha Hyeon Seok (Lee Sang-Yoon)is now a successful producer and Professor at the same college. NoRa struggles as an outcast in college because of her age, but the spirited, confident person in her heart resurfaces and Hyeon Seok’s love awakens the passion that NoRa’s loveless marriage almost destroyed. The love story of best friends that spans 20 years was beautiful and romantic and I was cheering for NoRa throughout. The first kiss towards the end was very romantic. Lastly, Son Na Eun as Oh Hye Mi and Kim Min Jae as Kim Min Soo were a beautiful couple and almost too unreal with their perfect physical beauty. WOW!!

Spoiler alerts: Xiao Nai (Yang Yang) & Bei WeiWei (Zheng Shuang) are both computer majors at Qing University who become gaming spouses. Xiao Nai is the most popular student at the university and WeiWei is the department belle. They decide to meet in person and become a real couple. I don’t think there is a more beautiful screen couple, almost like a total eclipse of the sun whenever they share the screen. Yang Yang is devastatingly handsome and pure perfection and Zheng Shuang is exquisitely beautiful with her ethereal beauty. However, with beauty comes the haters who are jealous of the couple. I understand WeiWei’s character because people judge physical beauty and don’t usually think they are intelligent and sincere. The cast had great chemistry, especially Xiao Nai and his BFF’s as well as WeiWei and her BFF’s. Also, my son majored in game art design do I appreciated the beautiful computer generated landscapes, including texturing. The visuals with the actors in the video game were beautiful and made me feel like I was in the game, especially the battle scenes. At the end, Nai, who first saw WeiWei at an Internet cafe gaming, told WeIWei”I’m thinking, if I’d known what I know now, I’d definitely be in love, at the first sight of you.” I would’ve given this a 10, but I wanted a wedding scene with WeiWei in her full Phoenix coronet wedding gown and headdress. Love this romantic show!!!

Spoiler alerts: This is a love story that covers parallel worlds, Republic of Korea and Kingdom of Corea, between King Yi Gon (gorgeously handsome perfection Lee Min Ho) & Jung Tae-Eul (beautiful and talented Kim Go Eun). In 1994, Gon’s uncle, Yi Rim (Lee Jung Jin), killed Gon’s father in front of him and nearly got killed too. At eight years old, Yi Gon became king. He became the owner of a sword, Four Tiger Sword, he would need to fight his uncle and face the legend behind the flute, Manpasikjeok”. Gon and his uncle both have half of the Manpasikjeok which is the key to travel between parallel worlds and chaos and consequences that are created in the present. I should mention the great and talented cast. Also, in episode 11, I was amazed at the most dramatic and romantic rescue I’ve ever seen in a drama. It left me breathless. The show also included time travel back in time as Yi Gon faced his destiny. I couldn’t wait to see how this story ended and I’m torn whether or not I liked the ending. Gon’s words...”I’ll open all the doors in the universe. And I’ll come to you.” Says it all. Lastly, I don’t think anyone else could’ve filled the role of the King more perfectly than Lee Min Ho. I am a huge fan.

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 36 episodes

Spoiler alert: The young, talented cast gave the show realism and a really sweet quality that left me with a smile on my face throughout the show. Liang You Nian (Edward Lai) is a handsome, popular, smart High School senior who thinks Junior transfer student, Xia Miao Miao (Angel Zhao) is "adorable and kind." When they attend the same University, Miao Miao is an architecture student, like You Nain, but later changes to a fashion design major after You Nian points out that her passion is fashion design. Throw in hansome Kai Tuo (Wang Run Ze), You Nian's step brother/BFF, who falls for Miao Miao, but is promptly rejected when he confessed. Miao Miao's heart only belongs to You Nian. Throughout the show, she goes through physical changes that turns her into a pretty young lady. Her confidence grows through hard work and personal accomplishments. She went from a shy, awkward girl to a more outspoken person and had the courage to confess her feelings for You Nian. You Nian decorated their lighthouse with hearts, lights, and candles to confess his feelings for Miao Miao. Very Romantic!!! Their relationship went through growing pains as they faced challenges in school and life altering choices that caused a one year separation. When they were reunited, they realized their choices were influenced by each other and a source of inspiration that gave them courage to overcome obstacles. Lastly, the BFF relationships were heartwarming and believable because there was true chemistry among the cast. Wang Yi Miao(Lin Xia) and Zhang Zi Yu(Miao Miao's sis) were scene stealers. A really sweet story.

    Chinese Drama - 2018, 49 episodes

    9.0

spoiler alert: This story is about passionate love between Ling Ling Qi (beautiful Dilraba Dilmurat) and BoHai (gorgeous Allen Deng). As a young boy, Bo Hai thought he was abandoned by his mother and was injured in a fire the last time he saw his mother. As a result, he suffered intermittent color blindness throughout his life. As a world renowned florist, seeing the colors of flowers is everything. When Bo Hai was 22, he almost gave up his dreams of becoming a florist until he saw Ling Ling Qi light up whenever he left a bouquet for her. Without knowing it, she became his inspiration that eventually led him to be a successful florist with a publicly traded company. She dreamed of becoming a florist because his bouquets inspired her, even before they met years later, when she worked for his company. As a Flower Plus intern, Ling Ling Qi had to overcome many obstacles, but eventually became a director. Ling Ling Qi and Bo Hai both wore a bracelet that allowed them to share their dreams because they shared a "perfect frequency." Their dreams became a sort of metaphor for what they were going through in their lives. I loved the martial arts dream sequences and the dream proposal. The story includes revenge and the manipulation of Bo Hai's and Mo Nan's (hansom Chen Yi Long) lives by a powerful man, "William". Also, there were a few love triangles and unrequited love stories. I found myself cheering for Mo Nan even though he did some evil things, including sabotage. The almost proposal and the shocking hit and run was a big "oh no" moment and the proposal with the four leaf clover theme was romantic, but didn't compare to the dream proposal. Lastly, the cast was beautiful and the sets were unbelievable.

    Korean Drama - 2019, 40 episodes

    9.5

Spoiler Alert: I loved the very talented cast. When Hwang Yong Shik (Kang Ha Neul) saw Oh Dong Baek (Gong Hyo Jin), it was love at first sight. Dong Baek, a single mother, opened a bar/restaurant, Camellia, where the male patrons of the small town of Ongsan liked to hang out. Yong Shik was passionate about fighting crime and this passion was what he needed to solve a five year serial killer mystery involving a character named, "Joker." Yong Shik became obsessed with solving the case when it involved Dong Baek. Before Yong Shik, Dong Baek was timid, feeling she was judged for not having a mom or a husband. Yong Shik made her proud to be a good single mother with a business and made her see herself through his eyes: the strongest, strong willed, most magnificent, most admirable person he knows. Yong Shik's birthday surprise for Dong Baek with the arrows that led to a room full of candles, lights, flower petals and a gorgeous wall of camellia was one of the most romantic scenes ever!!! I was in awe. Later, Dong Baek's ex , Kang Jong Ryul (Kim Ji Suk)and father of her son, Pil Goo (talented and scene stealing KIm Kang Hoon) shows up he slowly he becomes a part of Pil Goo's life. Yong Shik shows his love for Dong Baek includes Pil Goo, but there are obstacles. Yong Shik's mother resists their relationship, but, like the rest of the town, slowly accepts the relationship. A twist comes in the form of Dong Baek's mother, who resurfaces and builds a relationship with Dong Baek, whom she abandoned when she couldn't care for her daughter (after escaping an abusive husband). I really loved Yong Shik's beautiful outlook on life and the craze eyes look when he was obsessed with solving a crime. He made me laugh and smile throughout the show. Figuring out who the Joker was left me guessing until the revelation. The cast, including the Ongsan Avengers, had great chemistry. This was a very beautiful, heartwarming story.

Spoiler Alert: In 1994, the murder, robbery and fire at the Wang home led to one arrest, a fire victim, Wang Qiang Wei ( Amanda Chou), and a false accusation of a deceased policeman, Wang Qiang Da's (Yen Tsao) father. Also, Qiang Wei suffered PTSD and was unable to remember what happened that night. Twenty three years later, Qiang Da is a math genius who decides to work for a tutorial class company for a semester. He meets Qiang Wei, a history teacher. Qiang Da is an arrogant introvert, but Qiang Wei changes the "lion" into someone with a heart. In Episode 6, their attraction could be felt in the scene where Qiang Wei gets off the bus one stop early and rides on the back of Qiang Da's bicycle. It was very romantic. They were fated to meet because the 1994 incident connected their destiny. Finding out who was responsible for the tragic incident required help from friends, including prosecutor, Tie Bu Fan (Lawrence Liu), Qiang Da's BFF. Lawrence Liu and Kenny Wen (as Fei) were scene stealers throughout the show. Their crazy "bromance" was priceless and made me laugh a lot. Solving the 1994 case had many twist and turns, but I did guess who the "chief" was early on. Qiang Da was obsessed with clearing his father's name and finally accomplished his goal with a huge personal cost. The message about forgiveness was very beautiful. When Qiang Da found out who killed his father, Qiang Wei asked him to let go of his hatred and move forward with her. "Lion (Wang Qiang Da), Real courage is having the ability to forgive. And giving real forgiveness towards yourself and others will make you strong. I am the lion, Wang Qiang Da." Qiang Wei helped him find his courage and he helped her find her way back home.

Spoiler alert: This is a must see t.v. drama. The acting throughout, by the talented cast, was excellent. The love story between Moon Gang Tae (drop dead gorgeous Kim Soo Hyun) and Ko Mun Yeong (exquisitely beautiful Seo Ye Ji) began when they were children. The actress, Kim Soo In, as young Mun Yeong gave a haunting performance. Mun Yeong saved Gang Tae's life after he saved his older brother, Sang Tae, from drowning. Years later, Gang Tae works at Ok Psychiatric Hospital and Mun Yeong is a popular children's book author whose father is a patient. Although it had been years since they saw each other, they recognized each other. "If one shows up when you need them, you call that destiny." When two lonely souls meet, their lives are connected by a crime against one mother and the disappearance of another. Gang Tae grew up thinking he was born to take care of his autistic brother, Sang Tae. Sang Tae witnessed his mother's murder and memories of a butterfly made him afraid of all butterflies. Every Spring, he and his brother moved whenever the butterflies showed up. Mun Yeong grew up trying to prove she wasn't the demon with a beautiful face like her mother. This story is about validation and finding the warmth the soul needs to heal and receiving and giving love. The family that develops between Gang Tae, Mun Yeong and Sang Tae was a beautiful gift for the viewer. There were touching moments that usually involved Sang Tae, beautifully portrayed by Oh Jung Se. The hug between brothers after Sang Tae fed Mun Yeong porridge, left me in tears. The family photo left me breathless when Gang Tae walked in wearing a suit. WOW! ...not to mention all the beautiful clothes Mun Yeong wore. I fell in love with the characters and was blown away by this show. One of my favorites!

Spoiler Alert: Woo Do Hee (Seo Ji Hye) goes to Jeju Island thinking her boyfriend is planning to propose to her. Instead, she has a very loud, public breakup when her boyfriend intended to propose to another woman. Kim Hae Kyung (Song Seung Heon) is a popular psychiatrist who uses food therapy to help his clients. He witnessed the public breakup and ends up asking Do Hee to dinner. She picks a roadside food truck by the water. They are comfortable talking about many things, including their exes, because they never disclose their names. Back home, they bump into each other on several occasions and realize it is destiny. They become dinner mate 1 and dinner mate 2. When their identities are finally revealed, they are confronted with the true meaning of their relationship while dealing with their past. Enter Do Hee's first love, Jung Jae Hyuk (Lee Ji Hoon) and Hae Kyung's ex, Jin Noh Eul (Son Na Eun of APink). Do Hee and Hae Kyung fall in love, and their exes have to accept they were part of their past. The chemistry between Seo Ji Hye and Song Seung Heon was beautiful and believable. However, I felt the chemistry between Son Na Eun and Song was not. She had better chemistry with Lee. Her tearful scene when she finally gave up on Hae Kyung, did feel real. She needs more leading roles. Also, Lee gave a great performance as a character battling his demons and I found myself hoping he got better. Finally, the cast was talented. The story did end like the beginning at a roadside food truck , by the water, at sunset, just between Do Hee and Hae Kyung. I think there was an indirect proposal when Do Hee agreed to stop playing hard to get and have dinner with Hae Kyung every day.

The young Nak Won(Ryu Han Bi) and Na Moo (Nam Da Reum) portray beautifully two 16 year olds in the midst of first love. They drew me in and kept me riveted. I have to add that Jang Ki Yong has perfect leading man presence on the screen. His chemistry with Jin Ki Joo was electric. They looked so beautiful together. She meets Zhou Chen Yu (adorable Li Shen). She helps the rich, spoiled Chen Yu become independent from his controlling mother and they eventually fall for each other. Shi Ya proposes to Chen Yu when his start up company launch is successful. I loved their chemistry. The other main character is Tian Lei(Chen Shu), a talented lawyer who falls in love with her childhood friend and fellow lawyer, Xu Hai Feng(MIckey Yuan). They are competitive and a workplace sabotage tests their trust. They eventually become partners of their own company. Having a fierce female character is always a plus. Lastly, Cheng Lu aka LuLu (Tong Yao) meets Professor of Psychology and author, Wei Shu(Pan Yue Ming) who needs an unmarried female in her 30's to research his latest book subject. Cheng Lu, a script writer, agrees to help with his research in exchange for his expertise. Zhang Min suffers headaches and insomnia and finds Luo Xi is his source of peace . He is the GM of Sihai Group and hires her to keep her close and prevent his headaches. Competition for her heart comes in the form of one of my favorite, handsome actors, Riley Wang, who turns out to be the real Zhang Min. As Tao Lun, he was adopted and grew up in the U.S. When his identity is discovered, his brother and biological father give up their positions on the board to the rightful successor, Tao Lun. Tao Lun's biological mom is hospitalized and in a coma and Tao Lun wants revenge. He learns revenge hurts himself and those he loves. Zhang Chi's ex-fiancee, Liu Wen Na(scene stealing Anna Hollen) falls for Tao Lun, who helps Tao recover his childhood memories. When Tao's Uncle is revealed to be the attempted murderer, Zhang Chi is hit by a car, but survives. Zhang Zhe Han and Zhang Ruo Nan have incredible chemistry as do Riley Wang and Anna Hollen. I loved the passion behind the punch when Liu Wen Na hit "deserving" Tao Lun. The literal end of the world scene at the end was adorable and made me smile. Lastly, the ending back in France was beautiful with the closing kissing scene between Zhang Chi and Luo Xi.

Spoiler Alert: An Zhen, housewife and mother ( Sonia Sui) & Rui Fan ( James Wen) seem to have the perfect marriage until An Zhen's cousin, Wei En comes to live with them. Their marriage starts to unravel when Rui Fan has an affair with Wei En. An Zhen spent 10 years idolizing her perfect husband and neglecting her own self worth, losing her identity in the process. She only has one friend, sister-in-law, Wen Rui Xuan (Karen Hu), who's married to Rui Fan's BF, Hao Kang De(Patrick Lee), scene stealers and I loved every scene they were in. Rui Fan strays because he thinks he wants to be his past rebellious self, before marriage. He mistakes his love for Wei En for his need to escape his life, which has heartbreaking consequences. An Zhen is hospitalized after a car accident. Rui Fan forces her to sign their divorce agreement at the hospital. At this point, I really thought Rui Fan was a heartless bastard. Wei En has a childhood trauma regarding love so she always wants what she can't have. She spirals out of control and eventually breaks up with Rui Fan. By then, Rui Fan is homeless and jobless and has to continue living with his ex. An Zhen reinvents herself into a gorgeous, self confident , career-minded woman with the help of her new  friend, Lan Tian Wei(Chris Wang). I'm a big fan of Chris so I really wanted Tian Wei and An Zhen to fall in love. Their goal was for An Zhen to get her husband back until she realized she didn't love Rui Fan anymore and didn't want to go back. Bonus scenes were shirtless Chris and the zipper/black dress scene with smouldering James Wen, WOW! There was sizzling chemistry between both leading men and Sonia Sui. The chemistry between James and Amanda Chu didn't quite work for me. Amanda did a lot of crying and her breakdown was scary, I had to look away. Lastly, the most touching scenes were between An Ahen & her daughter. The ending left us hanging so I suggest you watch the movie.

Spoiler Alert: Xia He Jie (Blue Lan) has to do 158 hours of community service at Angel Kindergarten, where he reports to Ma Xiao Qian(Sonia Sui). He's a bully from her past and she sees the present He JIe as a despicable womanizer. Xia He Jie is an author on love and relationships, a blogger, and t.v. personality. A painful betrayal from his past shaped He Jie, making him a non-believer in "true love." He pursues a top model, but couldn't fight his attraction to Xiao Qian. When he confesses to her, she rejects him, not convinced he can be in a long term relationship. Amanda (Bianca Bei) and Meng Cheng En( James Wen) compete for their affections, but become special friends instead. There are plenty of funny, romantic and smouldering/ hot scenes between He Jie and Xiao Qian, a credit to the onscreen chemistry between the two stars. In my opinion, Xiao Tuo Luo (Benny Wen) had the cutest scenes and Benny Wen was the cutest child actor in the history of child actors. Benny can bring anyone to tears and can pull at the heartstrings in any scene. The last episode was full of surprises, but I guessed the storyline before the reveal. I was fooled for a half second. The last scene with the Kindergarten flower girls and boys was the most adorable ending I've ever seen. I was very entertained throughout the show.

    Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes

Spoiler Alert: The show was like a very long game of "hot potato" symbolizing power. If you held onto it for too long, you got burnt and the consequences for 2 characters was literally explosive and for others, was a ticket to hell. It was like a race to who would get there first. The story centered around a presidential race, uncovering corruption and murders. Kim Je Ha (Ji Chang Wook) was a member of the special forces who was dishonorably discharged for a crime he didn't commit. He felt betrayed by his country and became a mercenary. In the present, he was hired by a private security force,JSS, (alias K2) to protect the daughter of a presidential candidate , Go Anna(Im Yoon Ah). There was so much action plus dizzying plot twists and turns that the viewer is left partly intrigued and physically exhausted by the end, wondering how much training the actors had to endure. Did I mention a love story thrown in? There was plenty of testosterone, including the establishment of a new hierarchy among the male VIP JSS agents during the unforgettable shower scene rumble. The LOL scene when the JSS agents wore facial masks after a night of drinking provided a nice break in the action packed drama. It showcased the bond that has developed among the agents. The cast was outstanding. I am now a big fan of Ji Chang Wook. OK, the rock solid abs isn't the only reason. Settle in for a great ride.

Spoiler Alert: The story follows the lives of three main characters, Li Jian Jian(Seven Tan), Ling Xiao(Song Wei Long) & He ZiQiu(Steven Zhang). When Xiao's parents divorced and Zi Qiu's mother abandoned him, Jian Jian is raised by her widowed father, alongside the two boys (with help from Xiao's father). The younger versions of the characters pulled at the heartstrings, especially young Zi Qiu(Li Zhen Zhen). The big LOL scene involved young Jian Jian who took Zi Qiu's suitcase outside and threw it down the stairs repeatedly. Another took place years later when Jian Jian announced to her all male family at the table that her first period started, and, later, her first bra. When Zi Qiu and Xiao had to go abroad for college, Jian Jian was inconsolable with the breakup of her happy family. Moreover, Xiao's love for Jian Jian began to change in High School. "When you grow up, let's be together for a lifetime ok?" It was a foreshadowing of their future relationship. Nine years later, they barely kept in touch and returned almost like strangers, now in their late twenties. Xiao and Zi Qiu rent a flat across from Jian Jian and her two BFF's. Zi Qiu ends up breaking his ties with his biological father and mends his relationship with his mother. Xiao had to deal with a domineering/suicidal mother and a resentful half sister. Xiao and Jian Jian fall in love and plan to get married, but first have to overcome the consequences of Xiao's painful family past. The lesson learned is that parents have to allow their children to make their own mistakes in order for them to grow wings. This is a beautiful story about family, friendships, and love. It will bring the viewer to tears and inspire at the same time. The playful family photo shoot was a great and beautiful way to end the story.

Spoiler Alert: The love story between Noh Ae Jung(Song Ji Hyo(Big fan of Running Man) and Oh Dae Oh(Son Ho Jun(Mr. dreamy eyes) began in college, but abruptly ended. A big misunderstanding and a life altering choice derailed the dreams and relationships of so many lives. Fourteen years later, Ae Jung lives with her Mom & is a single Mom to 14-year-old Ha Ni. The baby daddy reveal isn't a big surprise, but the absence of a father has serious consequences. Ae Jung's life-long dream of becoming a producer is complicated by a mobster financier and three men from her past, all competing for her heart. How many handsome men can a show fit into 16 episodes? The "manly man" description of Goo Pa Do(Kim Min Joon) was my favorite. Ji Hyo and the other actresses are beautiful. Song Ji Hyo & Son Ho Jun had perfect chemistry, especially their timing when their characters argued. In fact, the whole cast had great chemistry. The relationships between friends and child/parent provided many touching moments. The LOL moments were tear worthy. Pa Do's expertise with the knife and the fruit arrangement was my favorite & Dae Oh's reaction was hilarious! Although it took another 2 years, the beautiful love story finally came to a happy conclusion. Lastly, the wedding at the end was a surprise. I enjoyed this show.

Spoiler Alert: Starting in High School, the love story between Jiang Zhi Shu(Dino Lee) & Xiang Yue Qin(Esther Wu) was 6 years in the making. Zhi Shu & Yui Qin are polar opposites. Zhi Shu is a genius introvert with a photographic memory. Yui Qin was able to do well in school when Zhi Shu tutored her. She wasn't good at anything, including cooking and tennis. At first, Zhi Shu rejected Yue Qin, but she tore down the walls he built around his heart with her resilience and positivity. She made him feel alive with the chaos she brought to his once boring life. There were times when I found it hard to like Zhi Shu's character whenever he cut down Yue Qin and called her "dummy." Furthermore, I wanted to see Yue Qin succeed in accomplishing goals she set out for herself. Also, there were times when I wanted Jin Zhi Zhu(gorgeous Chiu Shi Lun) end up with "the girl." He and Mrs. Xiang (Vega Tsai) were unforgettable scene stealers and provided a lot of LOL moments. Not to mention the crazy/hilarious head of the Tennis Club, Hu Xu Teng(Cliff Cho). Like any love story, Zhi Shu & Yue Qin had to overcome obstacles when others competed for their hearts. Finally, the outdoor wedding that was held where the old lunar tree stood was beautiful. The groom's piano playing of "Moonlight Sonata" for his bride was very moving and romantic. This was a really sweet love story.

I appreciated the many LOL scenes throughout this romantic comedy. The comedic timing between the characters, Sung Shi Won(Jung Eun Ji) & Yoon Yoon Jae(Seo In Guk) and , also, Shi Won's parents was amazing. The funniest LOL scene involved labor & delivery which should resonate with anyone who has gone through the miracle of birth. The way the story kept alternating between the past and present kept me guessing who ultimately made Shi Won's "heart flutter?" I guessed correctly, but the class reunion scenes made me doubt myself for a split second. Over all, this is a story of "first love", friendships and family. If you enjoy a few good laughs with a love story thrown in, this is a great show.

Before college, JIa Ze discovered her confession letter, but failed to act on his own feelings for her. In college, Su Can Can has a change of heart when shell falls for Tian Ye. The running scene that led Can Can to her "choice" was dramatic. The evening beach fireworks and the sunrise scenes were romantic and beautiful, not to mention the Ep15 kisses. Later, Can Can & Tian Ye were faced with a long distance relationship when Tian Ye went to the U.S. to study, leading to a painful break up and losing touch for a few years. When Tian Ye came back to China, their romance was rekindled. The proposal in front of their closest friends, after revisiting their past, showcased a never ending love between lovers and friends. The universal story of love and friendship shows the lessons learned and experienced in youth are unforgettable. This is a very special show about five friends who come from hard working families and grow up together in a close-knit neighborhood. The strengths and weaknesses of each character makes them unique. Their genuine supportive friendships, during good and bad times, is uplifting and beautiful. This is also a story about the awakening of first love between best friends, Tang Song(Marcus Li) & Huang Cheng Zi(Tian Xi Wei). The incredible chemistry among the entire cast, especially the five best friends, adds a magical warmth and sincerity throughout the show, and makes this coming of age story stand out from some of the others. The young, talented cast fuse perfectly with their older counterparts. The 2008 Spring Festival scenes show how special each family is and gives the viewer a deeper insight into the lives of the characters. It also provides a glimpse into the growth of the young characters, as they face the realities and lessons of becoming young adults. One of the best scenes is in EP 10, where the fathers had a bicycle race, their version of "Fast & Furious." There are many LOL moments like the Beijing Olympics contest involving a cute group dance and a hamburger eating talent show. They were two of the examples of the fearless and fun unforgettable memories the five BFF's created. • Man to Man

    83. Man to Man

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    8.5

Spoiler Alert: First, the entire cast was amazing, starting with Park Hae Jin as Ghost Agent of the NIS, "K"(aka Kim Seol Woo). He was the perfect actor to play the character. Park Sung Woong plays an action superhero, Dark Death, Yeo Woon Gwang. He adds heart and soul to this action-filled secret agent love story. Agent K has a bad feeling about his next mission. Cha Do Ha (Kim Min Jung) is Woon-Gwang's manager who falls for K, hired by Song Mi Eun (Chae Jung Ahn) to be the actor's bodyguard. Later, it is revealed the secret role Mi Eun has with the NIS. The connections between Woon Gwang, Seol Woo and DoHa had a genuine sincerity and connects with the audience in a heartfelt way. As an agent, part of K's mission is to expose the corruption at the NIS and the traitor who exposed another Ghost Agent, leading to his death. Through Agent K's relationship with DoHa, he finds his soul. The viewer is led on a dizzying ride of "guest the traitor" and the powerful people tied to espionage and corruption. An agent with a "weakness", like DoHa is to K, is dangerous for everyone personally involved. Park is convincing as an agent and his chemistry with Kim Min Jung was believable. Her unconventional beauty makes her stand out among the more classical beauties in the drama world. Moreover, the scene when K broke down over the possible lost of his handler, Lee, was heart wrenching. It is a testament to the connection the actors convincingly portrayed between the characters. The ending was probably the best way to end the story, giving the viewer hope that the "love tactic" mission is never ending.

  • Ten Years Late

    84. Ten Years Late

    Chinese Drama - 2019, 39 episodes

    8.5

Spoiler Alert: The incredibly beautiful cast draws the viewer in and the decade-long love stories keeps the viewer interested, but the 39 episodes were almost too long. Gulnezer Bextiyar , as Yuan Lai, redefines "X-Factor" with her exquisite beauty, and is never eclipsed by the beautiful clothes she wore or the handsome cast. "Goddess"factor is more accurate. The show centers around 5 college friends and 3 couples. Jin Ran & Yuan Lai are reunited, after 5 years, facing challenges that threaten to break them up for good. Cheng Zhi's(Jeremy Jones Xu) unrequited love for Yuan Lai is finally extinguished when new intern, Shuang Shuang(Cecilia Boey) wins his heart. Jeremy & Cecilia act out the sometimes funny, fast dialogue with perfect comedic timing, becoming scene stealers. Xin Yi (Rain Wang) & Ding An(Kanazawa Hao Kim) provide the most tear jerking scenes after their beautiful wedding. Warning: keep the tissues nearby. Moreover, it was refreshing to see so many strong/fierce female characters. In fact, the handsome cast seemed to be the co-pilots during the show, a credit to the amazing female roles.

  • We Are All Alone

    86. We Are All Alone

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 36 episodes

    9.0

Spoiler Alert: The talented cast brought to life the behind the scenes story of the cost of fame. Mo Xiang Wan(Qin Lan) is a top talent manager at Qili Culture, which she helped build into a top agency, alongside her mentor/CEO, Yu Jiang (David Wang). She seems unstoppable as the agent of the two top artists of the day, Xu Ling(Wang Ziyi) & Lin Xiang(Cristy Guo). However, being #1 means competitors like Hao Mai, at Fei Xiang Entertainment, and her coworker, Judy want to bring her down. When Lin Xiang fans pressure Xiang Wan to resign, she starts her own company. Aside from her ability to spot talent, her "courage...vision...and hard work" is recognized by the industry and puts her back on top. During her difficult journey, her ex-boyfriend, MoBei(R.I.P. Godfrey Gao) becomes her soft place to land. She learned to forgive him for putting away her father in a fraud case, 10 years ago. It left her with the responsibility of making a living for her and her younger brother. Mo Bai is the shoulder she could lean on, depend on & trust. Unfortunately, artists are treated like cash machines in the world Xu Ling & Lin Xiang live. It's an industry that favors young talent. XuLing planned for a more realistic future, having his own studio & developing young talent. For Lin Xiang, her insecurities leads to a dependance on drugs & alcohol. Her cries for help were ignored and eventually spirals out of control & escapes into darkness. Cristy Guo shows vulnerability, despair & hopelessness in portraying such a tragic character. She pulls the viewer into a world of heartbreak and leaves behind gut wrenching emotional tears. Humans need warmth in order to move forward towards the light because we have hearts that need love to exist.

  • Mr. Sunshine

    87. Mr. Sunshine

    Korean Drama - 2018, 24 episodes

    10

Spoiler Alert: First, the entire cast was outstanding! This drama left me emotionally exhausted by the end of the story. I was in tears and I didn't want to say goodbye to most of the characters. While the music set the pace and mood, the most unforgettable, memorable moments were captured in slow motion. I was captivated and focused in those moments in time, finding clarity. The story covers the plight of the Korean people during the late 1800's to early 1900's, when Japan threatened their 500 year history. Eugene Choi, a Joseon native, escaped to America after his slave parents were killed. He comes back as an American Captain in the Marine Corps. When he meets sniper, Go Ae Sin(Kim Tae Ri), he gets entangled in the covert world of the Righteous Army. Ae Sin wanted to be a flame that burns brightly and then wilts. Eugene(Lee Byung Hun), Dong Mae(Yoo Yeon Seok), & Hui Sung(Byun Yo Han)were drawn to the flame. They loved Ae Sin and wanted to protect her, but only Eugene (her Mr. Sunshine) captured her heart. Unexpectedly, there were so many LOL moments, especially between Dong Mae, Eugene & Hui Sung. Dong Mae's sword fight scenes left me breathless, finding myself cheering for him. His later scenes with Hina(Kim Min Jung) were heartbreaking. The fate of Hui Sung was a surprise. The gunfight in Ep 19 was a good reason for soju. Episode 23 was loaded with touching, funny & sad scenes. Finally, the dramatic train ride to PyongYang left me holding my breath, hoping for the best outcome.

  • Twenty Your Life On

    88. Twenty Your Life On

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 40 episodes

    8.5

Spoiler Alert: The great cast added sincerity to the story about four female dorm mates during their senior year at University. They transition from carefree students into responsible, young adults, as they struggle with relationships and career choices. Gabrielle Guan(Liang Shuang), Bu Guan Jin(Jiang Xiao Guo), Teresa Li(Luo Yan), & Dong Si Yi(Duan Jia Bao) have a convincing connection as close-knit BFF's. They learn to work through the realities of work, family, break ups & friendship dramas, finding personal growth in the process. The choice each of them made to walk away from a boyfriend instead of "settling" for less than they deserved showed courage. An example was Xiao Guo walking away from Zhou Xun after he confessed, but added that love is only 10% of life. It was a big red flag that indicated she would get hurt sooner or later. It was refreshing to see four female characters showcased as future fierce and fearless women. There were two actors, Wang An Yu(Duan Zhen Yu) & Jackson Zhou(Zhao Xiao Juan) who were scene stealers. Both of them have that "ultra" X-Factor that can catapult them straight to the stars. Lastly, it was touching to see the ladies in dorm 419 say their goodbyes. As a viewer, parting with college friends hits close to home and brings back memories. I'm looking forward to the next installment of this story.

  • Poisoned Love

    89. Poisoned Love

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 24 episodes

    8.5

Spoiler Alert: This show gets a perfect 10, just for the entertainment factor. Ma Meng Wei(Fang Yan), Ao Rui Peng(Shi Meng) & Luo Zheng(Shi Yi) certainly deserve more future leading roles. Beautiful Ma Meng Wei held her own in a love triangle involving two extremely handsome men. The story is about Fang Yan, a voice actor, who has a sort of sleepwalking illness because of a childhood trauma. Her recommended cure is to find someone who can give her a sense of security and satisfaction. In other words, she has to fall in love. Shi Meng is a producer who also experienced a childhood trauma and is unable to sleep in the dark. He and Fang Yan unknowingly shared a terrifying past. During one meeting, Fang Yan has an episode and thinks Shi Yi, Shi Meng's older brother, is her cure, but it's a case of mistaken identity. Shi Meng & Fang Yan fall in love, but her illness leads to a break up. Shi Yi loves Fang Yan so he did everything he could to keep her by his side. Realizing he doesn't have her heart, he finally shows Shi Meng proof who the real cure is for Fang Yan. In return, Fang Yan's love helped to heal the wounds from Shi Meng's past and opened his heart to believe in destiny. There were plenty of LOL moments like the hair removal scene, over wrapping Fang Yan's small cut & advice on how Shi Meng should confess. Not to be outdone were by Fang Yan's movie star role playing. The kissing scenes between Fang Yan & Shi Meng were romantic, beautiful & hot. Of course, the show had plenty of romance & touching moments. Some examples included the hair washing scene, the birthday fireworks, the row boat and lights on the water, the proposals and engagement ceremony. Over all, it was an enjoyable show & I'm looking forward to future projects by the leading actors. Throughout the show, I couldn't help but smile.

  • Single Ladies Senior

    90. Single Ladies Senior

    Taiwanese Drama - 2018, 15 episodes

    9.0

Spoiler Alert: This show definitely targets a female audience. First, Edison Wang(Yang Tian Yu) is "swoon-worthy" during his many shirtless scenes(Is this in his contract?). It is a story about 4 women whose journey spans over a decade, beginning in college. Dorm mates Mi Na(Summer Meng), Ge Li (Christina Mok), "Birdie"(Alina Zheng), & "PaiPai"(Bonnie Wang) developed a close-knit friendship, until a love triangle threatened to sever their ties with one friend forever. Mi Na falls in love with popular & smart University Senior, Yi Fan(Duncan Lai), unaware her BFF, Ge Li, likes him. Yi Fan didn't want a girlfriend, focusing on his studies, until he met and fell in love with Mi Na. For Yi Fan, a family tragedy led to choices and sacrifices that led to a heartbreaking break up with his true love, Mi Na, and a fake love relationship with Ge Li. A decade later, the four BFF's end up working for the same cosmetic company. They are all unmarried career women who learned to chose to focus on living for themselves and becoming strong and independent. Furthermore, they don't believe marriage is a milestone, instead, choosing when it's the right time to get married. Also, letting go of a relationship took courage and strength to walk away when the outcome took away the freedom to be authentic and free. The show portrays women supporting each other in love and career. More importantly, with success, being a mentor to other women is an opportunity for other women to aim higher. I loved the strong female characters and the men who loved them.

  • Reply 1994

    91. Reply 1994

    Korean Drama - 2013, 21 episodes

    10

Spoiler Alert: One way to describe the feeling of the show is like someone's Aunt & Uncle inviting you over for dinner and you stay for a while. Be prepared to laugh often, throughout the show. The actors' expressions and endless physical interactions really added to the many hilarious scenes. The group food poisoning scenes were hilarious! The crying scenes really touches the heart and are sometimes heartbreaking. The incredible cast really brought out the unique and lovable characters, with an emphasis on heart and soul. The many group drinking, eating and t.v. watching scenes showcased the incredible chemistry among the cast. The story takes place between 1994 & 2013. A group of students, mostly in their 20's, who are "passionate and fearless", find friendship, love, heartbreak and a sense of belonging to a family. They are a mix of country & city young adults who live at a boarding house in Seoul, run by the Sung's. Na Jung(Go Ah Ra) is the hot-tempered 20- year- old who grew up with med student, "Trash"(Jung Woo). The residents of the boarding house develop a close-knit relationship, changing each other in the process. For Na Jung & Trash, their "sibling" relationship turns into romantic love, turning their world upside down. Chil Bong Yi(Yoo Yeon Seok: I'm a Big Fan!) is a talented baseball player/pitcher who falls for Na Jung and later lives at the boarding house. Chil Bong Yi had some of the most cry-worthy scenes. In a love triangle, learning the painful lesson of learning to let go is the hardest. "In the end, fate is about choice." Later, a long distance relationship threatens to destroy the relationship between Na Jung & Trash. They have to learn to find where their relationship went wrong and find a way back to each other. The story goes back and forth between the 1990's & 2013, keeping the viewer guessing who Na Jung marries. This was a beautiful story with unforgettable characters.

  • Live Up to Your Name

    92. Live Up to Your Name

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    9.5

Spoiler Alert: This story needed a few more episodes to wrap up the surprising ending. The chemistry among the cast felt natural and the high level of talent was undeniable. The "strange destiny" between Heo Im(Kim Nam Gil) , from the Joseon Dynasty, and Choi Yeon Kyung(Kim Ah Joong),who lives in the present day Seoul, is a beautiful love story. Heo Im is transported from 1592 to the present day and meets Yeon Kyung. (By the way, Heo Im's physical transformation into a modern day doctor is jaw dropping. So handsome!) Heo Im is the best acupuncture doctor in his time and Yeon Kyung is a talented heart surgeon fellow. They both have traumatic pasts revolving around the deaths of a parent. They learn to heal each other by coming to terms with the real reason they became doctors. The story goes back and forth between 1592 & the present, traveling through time, mostly together. The key to time travel are magical needles that belong to Heo Im, but he has to die each time. Aside from the love story, there are stories about patients whose stories pull at the heartstrings, especially the many talented actors who play young characters. The reality & consequences of living in two different worlds eventually has to come to an end. Heo Im & Yeon Kyung have to make the heart breaking decision to stay in their own, separate worlds. The long goodbye, including the last dates, before separating for good, were tissue-worthy moments. The final goodbye, both characters on their knees, was painful to watch. However, just when the viewer thinks their destiny is sealed, "In your life, there comes a time when you long for something or want something. Then, an unexpected present comes to you. This is a real reward." The viewer won't be able to keep from smiling.

  • Record of Youth

    93. Record of Youth

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

    8.0

Spoiler Alert: This show is mainly about three male BFF's, Sa Hye Joon(Park Bo Gum), Won Hae Hyo(Byeon Woo Seok), & Kim Jin Woo(Kwon Soo Hyun) & make up artist, Ahn Jung Ha(Park So Dam) in pursuit of their passion, all in their 20's. They want to live life on their own terms, breaking away from their parents' influence. Hye Joon & Hae Hyo are actors and Jin Woo is an aspiring photographer. There is a love triangle between Hye Joon, Jung Ha & Hae Hyo. The screen shots of Park Bo Gum & Park So Dam together is like a beauty overload, leaving me breathless. Their chemistry is undeniable. Their romantic scenes included a close up kiss in Ep 6, after Hye Joon plays the piano and sings to Jung Ha under the night lights. The exchange of "I love you" and dancing in the rain were unforgettable. So too is Park Bo Gum in a tuxedo and the photo, after the awards show, with the BFF's and Park Seo Joon(Itaewon Class)as Min Soo.My heartfelt thank you! I really liked the friendship storyline between Jung Ha & Hae Hyo, but the show didn't do it justice. Also, with fame comes a price to pay when it comes to relationships & love. However, the "timing" and "apology" reasons for a break up was weak and a disappointment. The ending was very open-ended and is a good opportunity for part 2? However, the way Hye Joon & Jung Ha looked at each other, after a long absence, was perhaps the remnants of love that still exists between them and can be rekindled?

  • Love Is Sweet

    94. Love Is Sweet

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 36 episodes

    9.0

Spoiler Alert: This show was packed with gorgeous & beautiful people. It was especially nice to see Riley Wang(big fan!) as Li Xiao Chuan who falls for Xu Li(Shane Xiao). However, this love story centers around Jiang Jun (Bai Lu)& Yuan Shuai (Leo Luo), who were childhood friends. Yuan became Jun's guardian because she suffers from a life-threatening allergy to tears. A misunderstanding led to Jun transfering to another school. A decade later, Jun ends up working at the same company as Yuan Shuai, even though he didn't think she was a good fit for the high stress, cut throat securities business. Jun becomes a V.P. within two years, partly because Du Lei(Kido Gao), Yuan's competitor, becomes her "teacher/mentor". Yuan has been secretly in love with Jun for a decade and has to compete with Du Lei for her heart. The LOL moments between Yuan and Jun has perfect comedic timing. Their chemistry makes it feel like the actors really knew each other for years. There was a natural sincerity between them. Also, storyline solves the circumstances surrounding Jun's father's death. The two love stories had plenty of romantic and touching moments like the first anniversary guitar serenade & the office proposal, complete with the video showing all the previous failed proposal attempts, not to mention "Wealth", the dog. The ending with the news of a pregnancy was sweet.

  • Reply 1988

    95. Reply 1988

    Korean Drama - 2015, 20 episodes

    10

Spoiler Alert: I recommend watching the Reply series starting with 1997, 1994, before 1988. This was another beautiful story about a close-knit group of five friends and the people who lived on Bonghwangdang Block. Deok Sun(Lee Hye Ri) is the only girl in the group. She's an energetic, joyful light to those who know or meet her. The group often get together at Taek's house for videos, monopoly, meals, etc. Park Bo Gum was meant for acting, his close up scenes kept me riveted and mesmerized. Some of the most touching and cry-worthy scenes involved his character, Choi Taek, who becomes a champion Go-Game competitor. In High School, Deok Sun liked Sun Woo(Go Kyung Pyo)& Jung Hwan(Ryu Joon Yeol). Later, she develops a relationship with Taek. However, things get complicated when Taek discovers Jung Hwan likes Deok Sun too. After graduation, the group of five finally reunite in 1994. Deok Sun is faced with her feelings for Taek. "In the end, fate and timing..do not just happen by coincidence...the products of countless earnest choices that make up miraculous moments...He wanted her more than I did." Finally, the entire cast gets a standing ovation for their portrayal of characters that tug at the heart and pull the viewer in until the very end. The story is a lesson in sacrifices, friendship & love, and flashbacks of fleeting, beautiful youth.

    Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes

    10

Spoiler Alert: This beautiful story is full of heart and soul. The main characters have to make life-defining choices in the competitive orchestra world of music. They all make difficult choices to either continue playing an instrument or find a different path. For Joon Young (Kim Min Jae), he's a world-class pianist who returns to Seoul, after seven years abroad. Song Ah(Park Eun Bin) majored in business in college before returning to the same university to major in music. When she meets Joon Young, she begins to question her future as a violinist, who's only been playing for five years. The average student has been playing for at least 15 years. She has to face the reality that time is not on her side and hard work doesn't always equal success, even for those with talent. Joon Young expresses himself through his music, and finds himself slowly opening up to Song Ah. She becomes his source for happiness and learns the importance of playing the piano from his heart. Their relationship goes through a rough period, when they have t o confront their feelings for other people and close friendships are forever changed. Joon Young reached out to Song Ah to win her heart forever with a piano piece, "Dedication", without lyrics, and to give his heart to her. Playing music from Joon Young's heart helped heal the scars in Song Ah's heart. She realized, "I get much more happiness and comfort from this love." The contributions from the entire cast gave this show the heart and soul it needed to reach out and capture the audience and make it a truly beautiful story of love. Keep the tissues nearby. I found myself jumping for joy towards the end. So many "aahh" moments. Hearing Punch's voice (OST) throughout the show was beautiful, too.

    Chinese Drama - 2020, 24 episodes

    9.0

spoiler alert: The unicorn symbolizes courage, nobility, honour, bravery and unwavering love. It is the mascot for Liuye Sports University. Sang Tian(Sebrina Chen) played ice hockey for money to help support her brother, a freshman in college. She wanted to fulfill her mother's dream of going to Liuye Sports University, her mother's alma mater and last connection to her mother. When she barely missed getting into the figure skating program, she was given the opportunity to join the school's men's hockey team. She dressed as a man because they didn't have a women's team. Luckily, her fate led to a few chance meetings with Wen Bing(Darren Chen: big fan!) who became a teammate & dorm mate. Bing has a vision problem, unable to see faces, except Tian. She is the key to his recovery and their shared childhood experience later reveals why. Early on, Bing discovers Tian's secret and sets out to protect her and her dreams. Another teammate discovers her secret & becomes her"guardian Knight." The love story between Tian & Bing is complicated by Tian's secret, which almost tears them apart. The friendships and team spirit that develops, helping each other in times of need, was heartwarming. Tian's influence in helping Bing and his mother find their way back to each other was touching. When Mrs. Cheng later asked Tian to see her as family, after Bing woke up from a head injury, it was cry- worthy. When Tian's secret is finally revealed, she has to leave the team, but is later given special permission to play in the championship game. Tian later declined an opportunity to join the figure skating team, but the school decided to start a women's hockey team. I am thrilled to see Darren Chen in a leading role and hope to see more of them for him. His chemistry with Sebrina was a perfect 10.

She is cuteness personified. Lin Lu & Shi Lian Sen(Jerry Yan) come from two different worlds. He is the handsome, rich boss and she's the average person who works at the company makeup counter. Their worlds intersect when Lian Sen hires her as his girlfriend to get out of a planned engagement. In order to pay for her brother's kidney transplant, Lu accepts the contract, which is valid for 100 days. They end up living together to deflect rumors about their relationship and to prevent company sales from tanking. As the company's newest "Cinderella" product line Ambassador, Lin Lu has to keep up appearances. However, sabotage and scandals chip away at her future with the company & Lian Sen. Their love has to overcome challenges and sacrifices have to be made, when their contract is publicly revealed. Being apart was like ripping each other's hearts out. It was a heart-wrenching scene when they had to break up. It is understandable that parents want to protect their kids. However, Mrs. Lin should've let Lin Lu make her own mistakes. Furthermore, the friendship between Fang Qiao & Lin Lu was a testament to the power of women lifting each other up in positive, empowering ways. Finally, the power of love can bridge time and distance apart. The beautiful beach scene at the end with Lian Sen in a white suit & the sea breeze was a great prelude to a romantic ending, complete with a new "life" contract. I rate the kissing scenes between Lian Sen & Lu a perfect 10. WOW! Great chemistry!

  • Chicago Typewriter

    99. Chicago Typewriter

    Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes

    9.5

Spoiler Alert: The love story between Han Se Joo(Yoo Ah In) & Jun Seol(Im Soo Jung) transcends death. Unfulfilled destinies of a shared past life in the 1930's between Seo Hwi Young(aka Se Joo), Ryu Soo Hyun(aka Jun Seol), & Shin Yool(played by Go Kyung Pyo)aka Yoo Jin Oh, is played out in liberated Joseon in the present times. Se Joo is a writer, who receives a Korean-made typewriter, from Chicago, that's haunted by the spirit of Shin Yool. Past lives and present lives clash in order to fulfill promises made over 80 years ago. Lives cut short, in the past, is the subject of the novel that was started decades before and must be finished in the present. The 3 main characters remember, slowly, their lives as freedom fighters in Japanese-occupied Joseon. They wrote about remembered friendships, betrayal, love and happiness, despite the dangers and "dark reality" of life in the unliberated Joseon. Se Joo & Seol confront their demons together, remnants of being abandoned in childhood. They find that people in their past lives are reincarnated in the present and have to find a way to make peace with the past to "live" in the present. Hwi Young promised Soo Hyun to recognize her first in the next life. I cried when Hwi Young told Soo Hyun "I love you" knowing tomorrow wasn't a promise. The dramatic standoff, on the cliff, between Hwi Young and the Japanese was beautifully played out. The photo of Soo Hyun in his hands brought out the waterworks. The positive message about friendship forever was a fitting end to a wonderful journey. What a great & talented cast!!!

  • Age of Youth

    100. Age of Youth

    Korean Drama - 2016, 12 episodes

    8.5

The five female housemates of Belle Epoque, mostly in their 20's, learn life's lessons and personal growth. Learning about each other, including their secrets, forges a close bond of friendship. Each of the characters had to find a way to break free from chains that bind and move forward to become the best version of themselves. Outspoken, outgoing & eccentric Ji Won(Park Eun Bin) learns that lies have consequences. She was my favorite character. Jin Myung(Han Ye Ri) is burdened by her mother's debt and a brother who tethered between life and death. Her mother's act of "mercy" gave her permission to rethink her life choices. Yi Na(Rya Hwa Young) was haunted by guilt, for surviving a near drowning, and images of a little girl who didn't. A stranger's pain turns into a selfless act that gave her clarity and permission to live a good life. Eun Jae(Park Hye Soo), the newest & youngest tenant, thought her past actions led to her father's death. A father she suspected of foul play against her family. An investigation allowed her to make peace with her past. Lastly, Ye Eun(Han Seung Yeon) had to find the courage to walk away from a toxic/abusive relationship. She had to turn to friends & seek professional help for PTSD. She feared being alone, unprotected. This show is a window into the struggles of young female adults trying to find themselves and find strength in themselves and others. Season 2 is a continuation, but Park Hye Soo is replaced, due to scheduling conflicts(I highly recommend watching "The Introverted Boss"aka "The Shy Boss").
