Before debuting, IONE was a trainee at DSPmedia. He was selected as a member of A-JAX but ultimately decided to leave DSP and did not debut with them. He moved to Core Contents Media (now MBK Entertainment). He officially debuted under the stage name Taeha in January 2013 as the group's lead vocalist with their digital single, "Speed of Light."
The group disbanded in late 2015 and he switched agencies. He debuted as a soloist in 2016 under the stage name IONE with the digital single "Back."
