Yoshibumi Tajima

Tajima Yoshibumi

  • Name: Tajima Yoshibumi
  • Native name: 田島義文
  • Also Known as: たじま よしぶみ, 田嶋義文
  • Nationality: Japanese
  • Gender: Male
  • Born: August 4, 1918
  • Died: September 10, 2009
In 1937, he participated in the founding of a small art theater. Dropped out of college in 1941.
In 1946, he joined the Haiyuza Theater Company due to "the love of the actress Sumako" ( Shochiku, Kenji Mizoguchi )
In 1954, he left the Haiyuza Theater Company and entered Nikkatsu, where he resumed film production but soon left the company.
In 1957, he signed an exclusive contract with Toho.
After leaving Toho, he participated in the theater group "Theatrical Club Marui", which is run by Nobuo Kaneko, and appeared on the stage, as well as training and instructing younger generations.

He has appeared in many special effects works, and was a regular member of the Honda group directed by Inoshiro Honda in Toho, and was a regular member of the director's annual party at home. Appeared semi-regularly in " Ultra Q ", the origin of Tsuburaya Productions ' Ultra series. After leaving Toho, he expanded his field of activity to other companies' works, such as Toei and demonstrated his unique personality in yakuza movies. He is also familiar with the role of a bad old man and a bad merchant in a historical drama. In "Godzilla", released in 1984, he made a Godzilla movie appearance for the first time in more than ten years. Tajima himself was pleased to appear in the special effects movie after a long absence.

As for the role, it seems that it was a type that burns completely on the spot, and when interviewed about the role of "Ultra Q" in the 1980s, he answered, "I don't even remember appearing."

On September 10, 2009, he died of esophageal cancer at 91 years old. Edit Biography
