- Native name: Donald Sutherland

- Gender: Male
- Born: July 17, 1935
- Died: June 20, 2024
Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, he began his tertiary education at the University of Toronto before transferring to Victoria University and graduated in 1958 with a degree in engineering and drama. When he decided not to pursue a career in engineering, he left Canada to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
An antiwar activist, Donald started the Free Theatre Associates tout with other celebrities as an alternative to Bob Hope's USO in Vietnam. A vocal opponent of the US-supported Vietnam War and of the US-led invasion of Iraq, he was on the US's National Security Agency watchlist in the seventies.
In June 2024, Donald passed away following a long illness. His son Kiefer announced his death on social media, saying of him, "Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived." He was survived by his sons and wife Francine Racette.
