Marui Taro, born as Ishigami Masaharu, was a Japanese actor.

His career was very short because of the "Five-Company Agreement". Not only it was blocking the actors and crew from joining other studios, it also blocked film actors from appearing in TV series and vice versa. Marui, was one of the few actors at the time who spoke loudly about the injustice of this system and thus ended up "blacklisted".

On September 6, 1967 Marui committed suicide by poisoning himself with gas. Half a month after his death, it emerged that his label, Daiei, was in enormous debt and filed for bankruptcy, which is believed to be the possible reason why a man took his life. Edit Biography
