He was raised by his grandparents and named Ho-hsien (also spelled He-xian) by his grandfather, which means "chord" in English. He started to play the guitar from a very young age due to the influences of his grandfather, whom he looked up to as a role model. By the year 2004, at age 16, he has composed around 50-60 songs and clenched first place in a songwriting competition. In the "Guess Guess Guess," the audience was amused by his humor and amazed by his songwriting abilities. The prize was a contract with record label HIM International Music, but he did not take up the offer of the contract and instead, went to play underground music with his band, SEA-LEVEL (海平面).
Ho-hsien made his first acting debut in Taiwanese drama "KO One" as Sha Yu, following up with many other appearances in the rest of the series. He has composed many songs for Taiwanese romance dramas, such as Zhongji Yi Ban (終極一班), Gou Ai (夠愛), and Ni Cengjing Rang Wo Xindong (你曾經讓我心動).
He married Keanna Taiyh from 2016 to 2020, who reported him to the police for drug abuse in 2019. Then he married Liya (Chen Xiangni) from 2021 to 2022.
