We're only lovers during the good times, We're a burden to each other in bad times
A slowburn kdrama about life, love, and being a youth in the middle of chasing dreams. A kdrama with a vibrant cinematography, and stunning storyline. Really left you in pain and comfort, a reality that all of us know. A reminder that love is not all about catching unicorns, feeling butterflies all over, and watching the rainbows together. It is accompanied with pain, sometimes an arrow that pierces through your heart and because of it the times you spent together is better left to be ended than just continue. Was this review helpful to you?
Mr Sunshine kdrama as your Gun, Glory, and Sad Ending
If you are a kdrama addict, you would know what kdrama the title is all about or maybe, it’s a familiar phrase you heard to someone. The title itself basically summarizes the entire concept of a hit South Korean Drama of 2018 – Mr. Sunshine.I am writing this article after finishing the series, the feeling of pain, and how I cried a bucket of tears – emotions rushes throughout my body. I’ll tell you that Mr. Sunshine is the most heart wrenching and satisfying ending for me out of all kdramas I’ve watched. This is a kdrama that you shouldn’t miss.
This is not the first time I cried watching kdramas but this is the first time I felt that it needs to be broadcasted (posted here) – kdramas may be fictional, but you can’t deny the fact that it influences you mentally. How you view things may differ from one another but it teaches you to understand them in any way you can.
So before it goes south in what I am supposed to talk about (lol), let me introduce to you the main casts, what I love about them, their characters and how it makes me realize many things. I’ll try my best not to make a slight mistake. ( NO SPOILER)
• Eugene Choi‘s character in the story is a commendable, serious, and courageous man. He is the epitome of a great and noble man who was born in Joseon, left in Joseon with a broken heart, then returned to his homeland to fight for what is supposedly for Joseon. He is a man with a heart, action, and dedication to save his homeland that was once abandoned. This man made me realize that at the end of the day, we go through different routes but one thing remains, the affection we feel towards someone or something. It’s just there, always there, it may not be so blooming, and bright right now, but it will, someday.
• Go Ae Shin‘s character is so impactful that it made me think about the situation of women during the war of every nation. To wield a sword is a hard task, and a woman. However, she debunks that culture in the story. Who would’ve thought that a noble woman can kill an enemy, and can change the future of Joseon? She protects the people of Joseon, especially those people who can’t voice their opinions, as she thought that no one in her homeland can protect them against Japanese and Americans but only their fellow citizens. Her character and her story is a reminder for us that women can also lead, women can also be the future of something a country should be proud of, women can also do what men can do. Women can be dangerous too, always remember that.
• Gu Dong Mae is a powerful, skillful, and fearless one. He doesn’t want anyone to go on his way. He doesn’t hesitate to kill – either a Joseon man, or a Japanese man, a soldier or a highborn man as long as they did something wrong. I didn’t know that I would fall in love with Gu Dong Mae’s charisma. A coldhearted beast yet a protective man to people he loves. He doesn’t usually show his emotions, but once you’ll see it, it will strike you directly to your heart – happiness, distress, and sufferings. He realized that no matter how evil a person is, there was once a ‘good’ heart there. It is just buried deep through time, and it also takes time to burst it out in the chest.
• Hina Kudo‘s character is an independent woman and a remarkable one. She suffered a lot but she stood without the help of anyone and that’s what makes her great. She was born in Japan, but both of her parents are Joseon people. She used her amazing skills in calculating, deducting clues, and even one of the people who are the most trusted by the king. At first sight, she seems coldhearted but never judges her just because of that – in the back of that name, fancy clothes and accessories, there’s ‘her’ that can be a huge help for a great cause. She made me realize that don’t allow everyone to spit you in the ground, stand, know your track, and get back on them if the opportunity allows you.
• Kim Hui Seong‘s character development in the story is a really good one. From a man who always has flowers in his hand, to a pen, turned into a gun. From a noble family and yet he chose to live independently far from his parents. He suffers from what happened in the past and yet he also shows his killer smile to everyone. He’s a happy-go-lucky man but he knows where and when to be serious. What I realized from his character is that you may have everything physically but there’s always that emptiness mentally. Do what makes you happy and influence others to be filled with happiness also.
Mr. Sunshine has a lot of characters from American Legation, Japanese Legation, the people of Joseon, the Righteous Armies, and their families. Each one of the characters aren’t there just to give exposure to the main characters, they are designed to achieve a greater cause in the future of Joseon.
Each character has a story to tell and it makes Mr. Sunshine exquisite and a classic kdrama you should not miss.
Gun, Glory, and Sad Ending is not just a word, not just a phrase, not just about a kdrama. This whole thing is all about the freedom they want to achieve in their homeland. These three are the weapon, the fulfillment, and mostly the ending of every nation that were colonized. (Joseon in Mr. Sunshine)
Guns as weapons to fight for what is yours. A great fight for the future. A weapon that could be the death of your enemy or your death.
Glory as a sense of fulfillment. The fact that you are fighting for your country’s liberation means you are a hero. Fulfillment is not about indulging yourself for something, alone. It’s all about the great camaraderie you have with people.
Sad Ending as an ending we ought to be in that kind of story. In a war, there’s always the one who wins, and the one who loses. The sad part is hundredths or thousandths of lives are at stake every time. Either you will die fighting for your own people or you will die in the hands of your enemy without even using the GUN as a weapon and the sense of GLORY you’d bring in the future for your country.

"This person's life also has sufferings and sadness. in fact, it's even more far behind than yours."
Watched the Season 1 of the series years ago, and watching the Season 2 of the series really not failed me because it became better, much heartwrenching, and warmer. No episodes ended without me bawling my eyes out, and having dfficulty in breathing because of too much emotions in every episode. One of the shocking story in this season is Captain Kang's story, really a pain to the core at the same time I feel bad for Captain Kan's goodness. One of the emotional scenes for me is RoHa's story and Sangchul. Gosh, the scene with the Family Day - track and field race will forever engrave in my heart. This series is a really good break for the reality world that I am in right now. Really a warm series that I could not wait for Season 3.

Reality is hell
"I want to try living my life as a different person. I want to go to a place where nobody knows me, and live as if I have no history at all" - Ji-An (IU). Imagine, a 21-year-old woman saying this, isn't hard to imagine her situation and saying this things? A mature 21 years old, living her life in vain and debts.A perfect kdrama to everyone who wanted a slice of life genre with a little bit of dark theme on it. Not necessarily dark but a reality portraying the reality itself. I also cried a bucket of tears while watching this series. All the actors did a great job portraying their characters to life. I also wanted to salute Park Donghoon's character of not taking advantage of Ji-An's vulnerability. He is indeed a man we should seek for in this world, how I wish, people are like him. I also commend the stunning OST of this series especially "Grown Up" and "Dear Moon". <3

The worst thing you did was not realizing your true value.
I just watched this drama out of boredom, i wanted a slice of life recommendation and this came out. If a book has good reads, this one is a good find kdrama! It does exceed my expectations. I cried every episode, really. This kdrama will make you realize what is long lasting friendship is all about, an unconditional love, an emotional support, a character development of a sexist, and a journey of a squad through their ups and downs. Also, the struggle of their children. It is kinda like Reply 1988 (old squad version) but I like it more because I literally cried a bucket every episode.
thank you for the healing #DearMyFriends
one of the many things I learned is how selfish we are (children) for not knowing our parents' heartaches and stories. This series also reminds us that we are busy growing up (children), not knowing our parents are one step closer to their deaths.

Since the moment I fell in love with her, I have already decided to give up everything.
"Just because of one-five colored stone, she has to unjustly die? This is unfair!""The past honors, my pride are all not worth mentioning!"
"As long as there is even a tiny chance, I will choose to live together with you"
I can't believe i finished watching the 66 episodes in just a week ?? it does deserved my praises to this series. I love everything from it – from pain to happiness ? i will surely gonna miss wuji and fuyao's love and journey story. ?thank you so much #LegendOfFuyao for this stunning chemistry, cinematography, storyline, perfect characters that i couldn't ask for more. ? literally this series is my cup of tea ?

All I ever wanted... All I want has always been just you
I don't even know what to say because after finishing the series, i felt empty and happy. Empty because their love story is draining me – i felt butterflies, then cry again, felt butterflies again ??, Happy because it deserves a victorious ending. It is also much better if they add some romantic scenes in the end because it felt short, my Ye Hua-SuSu heart is not satisfied because it is just too short for me ?. And now,I don't know what cdramas with this kind of genre next to watch because i don't think I will not gonna move on to this chemistry + storyline + acting wise of this series. EVER. They just raised my standard so high ni xianxia genre. ? And I love the overflowing chemistry of the leads here, they're not forced, and they acted perfectly, what is age gap? I don't know it. ?? Nevertheless, #TenMilesOfPeachBlossoms will surely be my fave for a long time. It is just hone to perfection and I couldn't ask more. ?? (despite the jealousy of those girlies, and love story of Bai Fengjiu and Dijun that takes too much time of the series here ?)Was this review helpful to you?
The real mountain guardians are going up to take care of mountains
"Murders disguised as an accidents in the mountain"Mountains, natures, disasters, rescue operations, thriller, and teamwork, all in one series. Thank you for the roller coaster of emotions and mind games. It has low ratings here in MDL but if you give this a try, you might like it especially if you like landscapes, natures, and excellent cinematography. The fact that it is a mystery, fantasy drama, I think the series didn't justify the "fantasy" one. I think, the series is good without attaching fantasy element to it. Nevertheless, it's a slowburn series, and I literally don't have any clue who is the killer until ep15 came, and I think some characters here deserves praises also.

Drama Special Season 12: TV Cinema - Hee Soo

Horror about parents who can't accept the death of their daughter & try to re-meet her through VR
My fave Jeon Somin special drama for this date. The story is kinda unique because I haven't watch any films (at least for me) about this virtual reality, the parents who lost her child. The child playing Heesoo is such a good actress, same with Park SungHoon who played as the father.Aside from the plot itself, there are revelations in the end of the movie which whenever I think of it, I got goosebumps all over. The reasons behind virtual Heesoo's acting up (malfunctions if what you called it), the father's secret, and the mother who will do everything just to see her daughter and make those times memorable.
I think, this special drama deserves more recognition overseas. It tackles not just the technology advancement itself but also awareness to parents (i will not write anything here because it might be a spoiler) and to understand their child more because we don't know when and where we will face our deaths.

No matter how good one is, there are some who will hate them.
No wonder, when it comes to best xianxia lists, LaR is always one of the best. I couldn't search the right praise about this but one thing is for sure, i will always ask God to give me my own kind of SiFeng. This is also my first time watching a xianxia where a female lead is stronger that the male lead, nevertheless, both powers are excellent! The male lead could really protect the female lead easily. Also, the amount of frustrations whenever Xuanji don't believe Sifeng, and will stick to what the elders' sect are saying and her Senior annoying Hao Chen. And for me, the title itself gives justice to the whole content of the series. For me, LOVE of xuanji and sifeng, and REDEMPTION for Dijun and Star of Mosha. Nevertheless, they're connected with each other. Stunning CGI and OSTs!!
