Tan Song Yun steals the show!

For a change let the Cindrella save the CEO in distress. Yes, you have read it right. This is the best 'Hard-working female lead' and 'Female Lead centered plot' drama I have ever seen. This show is something that should be watched for Character development, Motivation, and learning life lessons.

'Master of My Own' is a 2022 Chinese drama adapted from the novel "Please Call Me The Director" (请叫我总监) by Hong Jiu.

Story: Ning Meng (Tan Song Yun) who majored in Finance always dreamt of becoming an Investment Manager but accidentally became the personal secretary of the rude/mean and jerk male lead Lu Ji Ming ( Lin Geng Xin). She waited, actually suffered for 3 years, and could finally come out of the grasp of Lu Ji Ming to pursue her dream career.

Tan Song Yun gave an amazing performance (as usual). The way she showed the transformation in her character from Personal Secretary- Rookie Analyst in the investment sector-Investment Manager- Investment Director was really splendid. The change shown is not only in the costumes but her micro expressions and gestures. A secretary who was very submissive in nature metamorphosed to a Mature and Great Investor. Tan Song Yun's acting is very natural and she gave the feeling that only she could justify the role. Also, the character is very very well written. She is not someone who only sees numbers but the dream behind a person's invention/ product. When she believed that a product/person is genuine she did a lot of homework to make their dream come true. Not only investing in products but she is interested in investing in the concepts.
She is strong, and that strength is not shallow. Even in tough situations she never tried to rely on anyone and especially on the male lead. The way she responded to the jerk Lu Ji Ming's words was beautiful. This is the first time I felt very motivated by a hard-working female lead role. Her perseverance is amazing, despite many people who were against her to achieve her dream, she was able to do it.

I usually have a soft corner for male leads. But this man initially is a total jerk, who has no heart. He strongly believed that Personal Secretary is the only fit job for Ning Meng. I felt like punching him on the screen many times. Irrespective of the nature of male leads. I strongly root for the main leads to become a couple usually. But till 2/3rd of the episodes, I wanted Tan Song Yun to remain single rather than choose anyone between the 2 male leads. Putting the character of the male lead aside, Lin Geng Xin did a wonderful job, the role of a jerk really suited him well. His chemistry with Tan Song Yun is perfect and it actually drives the viewers to watch the drama, despite being annoyed.

What I liked about this drama other than Ning Meng's character:
*The changes in Lu Ji Ming's behavior -in the 3 tough situations- love life, fall in career and a great come back. Lin Geng Xin was a great fit for this role, he was able to express those emotions very well.
*Like father like son. The way they showed a resemblance between Lu Ji Ming's father and Lu Ji Ming's characters. Both are equally stubborn and rude. They do care about others, but never express it, only to regret it later.
*Ning Meng's family- A very sweet family who is very understanding and caring.
*Ning Meng's wardrobe. Her outfits were just awesome.
*Dialogues- they are well written and do not sound much dramatic.

The characters worth mentioning here:
1. Su Xin as Zhang Yue Han, is the best male character in this drama, though he is playful, he knows how to behave well, and he knows the heart of a woman. I really felt happy that they put his character and loved the way how he points out the mistakes of Lu Ji Ming. He is not afraid of the male lead and he isn't just a sidekick unlike in many other dramas.
2. Gong Bei Bi as Shi Ying: A woman can surely become successful in her career if she works under a boss like her. Though the success of Ning Meng is attributed to her hard work, it is because of Shi Ying that she could actually do it. The way she guided Ning Meng in both her career and love life is beautiful.

The viewers experience different emotions in different parts of the drama. In the first 1/3rd - every viewer hates the male lead for his nature.
In the Second 1/3rd- viewers are just stuck to the screen to see amazing chemistry between the leads and the success of Ning Meng. In the last 1/3rd- a roller coaster ride of emotions.

I don't mean to belittle neither the drama Love is Sweet nor the character of Bai Lu, but I couldn't help comparing both the female leads' characters in these 2 dramas. Both did a splendid job in their roles. But the journey of Ning Meng in her career seems more realistic and beautiful.

I noticed in the comment section that many viewers were unsatisfied with Ning Meng's choice in the relationship. Clever as she is in the investment field, Ning Meng is slow-witted and naive when it comes to relationships. But she was actually forced into the relationship by the second male lead despite asking for some time and space. But the way she ended the toxic relationship was graceful. She did not hold any grudge against him and did not quarrel with him. She said what should be said.

To all those who dropped this drama after watching 11 episodes, especially after the dinner scene: I am a girl and I also hate it when a female lead is bullied, but hang in there. You are going to see the magical performance of Seven Tan. The beauty of all this drama lies in the character of Ning Meng. She has the purest and strongest heart.

My verdict: This is a must-watch drama if you want to see a lot of character development, experience angst, and then enjoy the success of a character in a drama. Do not watch this if you are expecting to see lot of skinship and kisses.

Harder than iron and stronger than steel- Operation Blue Lightning team!

This is my first drama in military genre and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed my journey with this drama, so much that I am going to miss the Operation Blue Lightning team.

What/whom I liked:

Vengo Gao as Captain: Another actor added to never ending list of favourite actors. Of course he is 39 years old. So what!? The charm he has and his performance is amazing. He portrayed the role perfectly. He is strict but not cold. He is commanding type but understanding. I hated him when he gave intense training to the team, but as soon as he explained why it is needed, i just can't help but like him more.

He is very older to our female lead and is her superior so he needs to conceal his emotions and his love for her.
I just love the subtle change in his expressions when Ning Meng suggests the correct plan of action.
As much as he is serious during training, he is a jovial man at normal times and I love the way he argues with his superiors to support his team.

Hu Bing Qing as Ning Meng: She is my ideal type of main female lead. Absolutely loved her. She is sweet, warm, caring, smart, cute, smart and all.

Chemistry: Yesss. I could feel the chemistry right from beginning. Though he refuses her strongly about staying in the team, he cares for her secretly . I could feel butterflies in my tummy just when he talked to her in a caring manner.

Team spirit:It really took a very long time to develop the team spirit. But, once they are friends, they were ready to sacrifice even life for others.

Story/ Script writing: I must appreciate the screen writer for writing the script in a very intelligent way. The training they received was very immediately shown in action in the next mission . The story was very very well executed.

Visuals: The terrain where the team underwent training looked magnificent. I have preserved all the screenshots.

Technology: OMG!! I know that the technology is very advanced now, but looking at all the gadgets these people used, I am terrified. It is being misused by bad people.

OST: I felt that some times the OST was very good. So good that it can evoke patriotism in viewers of any nation.

Feeling of victory: I was so much involved in the story that I got goosebumps in the critical moments and felt very happy when they accomplished the given task.

Last episode: OMG!! So much blood shed and violence, but I loved it. I can't forget the sweet talks and looks they exchanged

What I didn't like:
1. I agree that the shadow left in Ning Meng's heart is really heart wrenching, but I felt that they dragged this issue for a long time.
2. In the initial episodes, many of the characters were annoying who didn't even give minimum respect to their comrade.

Re-watch: Definitely!! I have made a notes of all the sweet scenes and I am going to watch them again and again.

Perfect choice if you want to watch a cliche drama

Story:
Childhood sweet hearts→_→Enemies→_→Lovers
Female lead was cheated by her boyfriend. So she wanted a contract lover , but she was left with no other choice than male lead.
The male lead is in love with her since childhood and has been protecting her secretly. They get a happy ending.

Cast/Action: LoL, Why did they even produce this drama?? The actors lack facial expressions. I was in a mood to watch something short and sweet and cliche. So i chose this drama. There is nothing great to talk about actors' performance.

My verdict: This is a 12 episodes drama with each episode less than 12 min, actually takes one and half hour to watch. Watch this if you don't find anything else to watch or you are in a mood to watch a cliche drama

Binge worthy show

STORY: During Qin Dynasty, a meteorite fell from sky which led some people to gain super natural powers, who are called the” Abnormalities”- Jizhong. The rulers used the power of Abnormalities for achieving great duties. But they feared that they may misuse their abilities to trouble the emperor. During the Ming dynasty, a department called “Chong Ming Wei” was created to exterminate Abnormalities.
The abnormalities may have 9 kinds of super powers- “Fu Jiu You”.
I watched this drama in Rakuten viki, which in my opinion has best subtitles and translation, but I felt some of the words weird, so I am mentioning them here in case you couldn’t follow them. Also, I could only understand a few of them.
The super powers:
1. The dark clap of thunder- ability to kill target by discharging electricity.
2. Cloud and feather space- levitation.
3. Abstract law of collection- THE ABILITY TO TOUCH A CORPSE AND HEAR THE LAST SOUNDS THE DECEASED HEARD BEFORE DYING.
4. Connected imitation- the ability to impose the fears, an abnormality has, onto normal people and make them hallucinate.
5. Peach blossom spring- ability to make other abnormalities abilities momentarily ineffective.
6. Giver of life: ability to quickly heal external injuries.

This drama revolves around male lead’s investigation about Ting ji case (Zhang cha- an Abnormality- tried to assassinate the crown prince) that happened 10 years ago. He tries to find the truth and mystery about that case.
It has more fantasy elements than crime and investigation.

The pacing of story is good, no dragging. First half of the drama is very cool, with lots of fun but the last episodes have a bit of melodrama.

ACTOR’S PERFORMANCE: To be honest, there isn’t much scope for actors to exhibit their talent. Only the male lead has got a long screen time and he steals the show with his hilarious expressions.

EFFECTS: I felt this as a low budget drama, the effects aren’t very appealing, but I appreciate the crew’s efforts.

My verdict: This a 24 episode bingewatch worthy drama, with each episode having a duration of less than 25 minutes, if you skip intro and outro. I recommend you to watch it if you want a story not so intense and not so foolish either..
Finally, don’t miss the ramblings of the actors at the end of each episode, they are funny.

The crew announced that there is going to be a season 2 for this drama and I will watch it definitely.

Amazing action by Allen Ren ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

For all those who came for Allen Ren after watching Ms.Crow with Mr. Lizard: don't worry , you won't regret.

First of all I am that kind of person who doesn't like to watch traditional costume dramas and dramas with many episodes. But this drama is absolutely very wonderful and I wished it had even more episodes.
The pacing of story is good.

Let's talk about main leads.

Allen Ren: He is the best actor ever. I don't know why everyone calls him a sour face. He portrayed every emotion perfectly whether it is cruelness , sadness and especially his look of admiration and love towards female lead is awesome. You will fall in love with him.

Tan Song Yun: I have watched many of her dramas , but never had a deep impression of her. But her performance is very great in this drama. I became a fan of her.

The second couple and second male lead (?) are a bit annoying, but trust me , this drama gives such a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Finally, do watch this drama and you will love it too.

Love Allen Ren ❤️❤️❤️❤️

A different from routine drama!

A good start in new year for me!
Story:
The story is about a man who had become an immortal because of an accident in the past and a woman who is going to die at a very young age. But it's not completely a fantasy / supernatural drama. This drama covers the sensitive aspects of organ donation, the mental condition of terminally ill patients and their family members, illegal research performed on humans.

What I liked:
Friendship: All the male leads friends are very good, especially William, he has a lively character.
The female lead's bestie is Miss. Cool and is the best of all the friends I have seen.
Cheng Qian annoyed me for a while, but his bickering with the female lead even at the critical moment in last episode is very funny.
Ending: I am happy that this drama did not continue the legacy of ruining the last episodes with stupid flashback.
No love triangles:┌(・。・)┘♪ There is no cunning second female lead and no annoying second male lead.
OST is good .

But I couldn't understand how the female lead is cured!

My verdict: Watch this if you want a light hearted romance drama with friendship as main genre .

The world will not be destroyed by evil, but by the silent cold hearted people

Story: Male lead undergoes heart transplant operation as a kid and since then he has the power of Psychometry- he can read the minds of people by holding their hands. Female lead suffers with Multiple personality disorder.
They both join hands to solve a series of crime.

It's not that simple. The moral of the story is: donot be a bystander when you witness a crime. Try to oppose it at the level you can do. Also, the fate is already written. Donot take law into your hands to punish the evil.

I have never paid attention to a thing- mental condition of organ recipients. They should not be bullied and they should be treated as normal individuals. I felt very bad for the character of Li Xin Rui.
The pace of the story is good, you don't feel like any scene is very dragging. I did not skip any scene(which is very rare).

Actors/Action: Thanks to this drama, I found another handsome actor. No, not the main lead, but his best friend the cop- Li Mao as Xu Gao Sheng. He looks super cool and handsome and dashing and all.
I appreciate the actor Nina Wang, the female lead, she did very well to show the difference between two personalities.

Another actor worth mentioning here is Wang Xin as Wu Yan. OMG!!! I have seen him as a sweet father in few dramas. But I didn't expect he could show many variations. That's the greatness of senior actors I guess. I loved him. His emotional scenes were really heart wrenching.
The male lead also did good job. He is your ideal friend/husband/brother material- a very very nice male lead.

I appreciate the director, because this is the first time I felt that a Chinese drama (crime genre) did not maintain the legacy of ruining last episodes (satirical). I liked it and I am satisfied.

If someone asks me for a crime genre c- drama, this would be my first recommendation.
