When watching Asian dramas, I need interesting characters and plots that don't treat the audience like dumbos. Most of the time I want it grounded in some amount of reality (don't really like magical elements etc ). I grew up with wu xia so I tend to like them although they tend to go overboard on themes of chivalry and emphasize almost black and white ideals. I dislike xian xia but depending on my mood I watch some from time to time...... I only have myself to blame. I generally prefer historical settings, but anything goes. I'm going to go ahead and GIF SPAM you all.

For Asian movies, I love watching depressing gloomy to the level of existential dread types. Very calming.

I hate forced drama, melodrama, overemotional contrived plot lines, etc. but I can still forgive shitty parts if at least one relationship/friendship/character is cute.
