A warm blanket
I have seen this drama in recommended a few times but I always avoided it. Why? I don't know, it just looked complicated and not to my taste but I was wrong.
I watched it in two days and had fun.
Story
Small conflicts are introduced at the beginning of the episode and solved by the end, nothing dragged.
What connected all those small conflicts was an overarching story between Sumire and Momo.
You could say their relationship is weird but it was what they needed.
Momo needed someone who would tell him he is a good boy, who would show him warmth and Sumire needed someone to open up about her troubles and cry.
The progress of their relationship was nicely done. It was fluffy and I smiled a lot while watching it.
Characters
Sumire was my favorite character, she knows how to defend herself and she is strong but even if she is strong, it doesn't mean nothing bothers her. She overthinks and breaks down many times but she gets up and tries to do better.
Momo was so cute. My favorite parts were when we saw him as Takeshi, how differently he behaves. While watching you would think what would make him accept being someone's pet but after a while it's clear he wants to have a home and someone who sees him as he is. Not as someone perfect but as a person with flaws.
Hasumi was meh. I didn't like him but I didn't hate him. He felt like a male version of Sumire, good looks, school and income but he couldn't give her emotional support she needed and I think she felt that so she never really opened up to him. There was always a wall while they were together. She always felt exhausted after being with him.
I think even if Momo was not there, the two of them wouldn't last long.
Things I didn't like
Blatant misogyny, both men and women treated Sumire like trash because she was smart and independent, they made it seem like a bad thing.
Psychiatrist sometimes gave good advice and sometimes I wanted to hit him with a brick.
Sumire not getting rid of Momo while dating Hasumi or getting rid of Hasumi and staying with Momo. I understand she is bad at expressing her feeling and that it was done to show the difference between what she thinks is love and what was actually love but I still felt icky a few times.
Hasumi being super naive and pushy at times.
Fukushima being desperate and chasing after Hasumi after he said he doesn't like her.
But all of those were tiny parts of the story that could be skipped and ignored for the sake of enjoying the story.
I would rewatch this if I need something cute with fun story and characters.
Momo barking was definitely the funniest thing ever.
