The epitome of a healing drama

This drama really struck me different. It reminded me of the joys that life has to offer even though loss and hardship is inevitable. Watching an episode or two calmed a lot of my anxieties. The series did a great job of making you feel a connection with the individual characters and with the village as a whole.

I tend to be pretty picky about the pacing of a drama (especially C-dramas) but the pace of Meet Yourself is quite perfect. A review I read on here described it as meditative at times which is a great way to put it. It's not exactly fast paced, super exciting, or dramatic. Instead it focuses on more realistic interpersonal matters and some big life lessons. And even though some of the subject matter can get quite deep, the overall tone stays lighthearted and happy. After watching an episode or two I was always left feeling a little happier to be alive which sounds a bit dramatic, I know, but I'm telling you this one just hit me different!

There is a lot of side characters that you get to know throughout the series. To me most of the side character stuff fit in very well and did not feel like filler or get boring. I liked how some showed up only every few episodes and it felt like "hey there's a familiar face", like running into an acquaintance you enjoy. And some you get a lot closer to. To be completely honest there were maybe 2-3 scenes I skipped through in some of the later episodes where I was just uninterested in the conversation they were having, but that's pretty damn good considering how many other dramas bore me to the point of skipping to only bits where theres development in the romance lol.

I very much enjoyed the music in this series, in fact after writing this I plan on putting most of the soundtrack on my playlist. It's also nice having a musician character who doesn't overdo it on the singing but instead we get a nice song from him every once in a while. I often get bored when someone sings a whole ass song in the middle of a show but I found his song moments to be pleasant. I will say though that with any drama with this many episodes you run the risk of overplaying the themes. I think if you were to binge this the songs might get annoying but I watched probably 1-3 eps a day and didn't have this problem. Also there's this one song that talks about a horse as a metaphor for the heart and says "I'll give you the saddle of my heart" and this made me giggle a little but they use this song in some serious parts so it took me out a little hahah but I actually don't mind the song despite the lyrics being funny to me.

ANYWAYS tldr; watch this show, it is happy, lovely, beautiful, healing.

Very entertaining and visually captivating

This show is like the book The Selection meets The Bachelor meets Squid Game, which I found to be very entertaining.
I am a fan of shorter series but with this world and this story it's truly a shame they weren't able to slow it down and flesh it out more, but in the end this didn't really affect my enjoyment of the show. I loved the overall vibe of the show- it made me laugh quite a few times and stayed pretty light hearted despite some of the darker things you discover are going on.

Visually this show is incredible. The colors. The lighting. The unique camera work. The sets and locations. It is BEAUTIFUL and so cool to watch. I really appreciate all the detail that went into making this series look like a work of art.

I don't think I'm in any position to judge acting, I think everyone did pretty great. There were only a few moments where the pacing of the scene just seemed off enough for me to notice, but this is just me being nit picky and I don't think it took away from my enjoyment of the show.

TLDR; give this show a watch! There's no way you won't be entertained, it's very bingable, and visually fantastic!

Good trashy TV

This show is... wild. I may have a lot of criticism but despite it all it was quite entertaining. I was fully engaged with the show for a good 14 eps, I fully watched up till ep 18 and then skipped through 19-22 then dropped it. I actually enjoyed the show up till about ep 10 or whenever the ML started being too toxic for my liking.

Story- The pacing of the story is very choppy and fast, especially in the beginning. The episodes are short (11-20ish mins each). Pretty much every other scene is some kind of whacky setup for the leads to end up in a raunchy situation. This is kind of fun and entertaining but it becomes a bit much after a while. I'm all for soapy, cheesy, and crazy plots but the execution is not quite there for me with this one. I REALLY liked the leads' dynamic in the beginning but then the ML got crazy controlling and toxic, and the aggressive non-consensual stuff was a huge turn-off for me. Also as I got deeper into the show, I kept having more and more "huh??" moments, where things just didn't make sense and the plot holes were just too big for me to look past.

Acting- I don't have any complaints about the acting. The leads definitely have great chemistry which really holds the show together.

Music- The songs themselves are good, but the way they're used/edited in is pretty bad. The Foley effects are also noticeably bad. I don't expect anything great as this seems to be a lower budget series but I've seen so many low budget productions manage to pull off music and sound design much better than this.

Sweet and fun romance I've been waiting for

This show is just wonderful, it made me smile so much. It's perfect if you're looking for fluff romance and friendship. There's little to no conflict in the story which is what I crave sometimes, but other dramas that attempt this style have bored me. Not this one.

Characters- I found everyone to be very likable. The FL was a little obsessed with ML and fell in love at first sight which usually bugs me a bit, but you could tell Su Zai Zai just knew what she wanted and went after it confidently. ML is the quiet, no smiling type but he didn't push her away and was never mean. The second couple is also very lovable and fun to watch. It made me smile to watch all the moments these friends shared together. Each character has their strengths and weaknesses and are never tied down to a two dimensional trope.

Story- I'm pretty picky about the length and speed of dramas. I've found especially with C-dramas they tend to drag on too much and I end up dropping them. But I very much enjoyed how this one was paced and didn't fast forward once! It was beautiful to watch these characters grow from adolescence to adulthood. Sometimes dramas skip ahead too much in later episodes so you can see how they ended up and it feels rushed and not genuine. They did skip ahead quite a bit but i didn't have the same feeling, I was just happy to see their happily ever after. Also I LOVED the aspect of the camcorder, it kept things interesting and gave things a nostalgic and personal feel. Oh also have to shout out any drama that has basically 0 miscommunication/misunderstanding trope, thank the lord.

TLDR- beautiful fluff romance, great to escape to a happy world.

Beautiful.

This show is so beautiful. Beautiful visually and artistically, beautiful story and emotion, beautiful romance and connection.

Nozue yearns to feel the joy and emotions that he (at first) believes only young girls get to feel. Togawa shows him how he can feel the great and vast emotions of life. Togawa's yearning for Nozue was shown so well through the acting, story, and visual presentation that I could feel it in my heart. The way Nozue longs to be with Togawa is a bit more understated in contrast, but equally as beautiful. The way they convey the complicated feelings that arise with frustration with gender norms, and queer romance is so well done.

The story and writing are lovely. Although some common BL/romance tropes are used, it is done in a way that feels refreshing and avoids the staleness and predictability that the tropes can easily fall into. The dialogue and chemistry between the two leads had me completely hooked. Even with the short length of the series, it did not feel rushed or shallow. Watching their connection grow through each episode was such a treat ;).

The camerawork, coloring, lighting, and music are wonderful. Very well done and do a great job of portraying the feeling of each scene. Just beautiful filmmaking, man.

If you are a BL enjoyer or even just a romance enjoyer, I'd say this is a must-watch.

BTW there's also a short epilogue (Old Fashion Cupcake Epilogue: Apple Pie) that is a lovely treat to watch after, but I must warn you it is a bit bittersweet as you will be dying for more content afterward.

Watchable

Although A Breeze of Love was a bit of a disappointment for me, it was still entertaining enough for me to complete it. I'd say if you are in the mood to binge a short BL with not a lot of substance, this is a decent choice.

The characters are flat and so is the story. It basically goes like this: *leads have an interaction*, *angry basketball*, *a flashback you've probably already seen* and repeat. The acting is okay, and the music isn't great. Overall nothing is terrible and nothing is very good.

I think It's worth a watch!

I was curious about this show after reading quite mixed reviews on here so here's my two cents.

Overall I enjoyed the watching experience, it was really cute. I understand why some people say the timeline is confusing, especially in the first two episodes. But I had no issue just using context clues, it wasn't that hard to understand. There is definitely a lack of plot in this show but I liked that. All of the misunderstandings are small and resolved with good communication In a timely manner. As a result, there is very little conflict in the show but I prefer this to unnecessary, stressful, and annoying drawn-out miscommunication plot points that are too often used especially in BL. The acting was a teeny bit awkward sometimes but it did not bother me at all, the chemistry of the leads made up for it to me.
One little thing I really liked was all of the random conversations you can hear the friend groups having, they really felt like something you'd overhear high highschoolers talk about, not just boring small talk.

This is just a really fun, lighthearted watch, I'd recommend giving it a go! It's nothing revolutionary, but if you're in the mood for a sweet BL, It's a nice one!

New Favorite!!

If I had a nickel for every time I've completed a Kdrama where the prominent trait of the FL was being very physically strong and it became my new favorite romance drama, I'd have 3 nickles. Which isn't a lot but it's kinda weird that it's happened 3 times.
I could go on and on about every little thing I liked about Love to Hate You but we'd be here too long. To be brief, this show had all of my favorite tropes and executed them to perfection. Chemistry of the leads is crazy good. Very funny moments and great physical comedy. PHENOMENAL MUSIC, huge fan of the music in this show it honestly is a huge part of the rewatch value for me.

Perfectly short and sweet

I had a stupid smile glued across my face watching this show.

The beautiful visual presentation and the character's interactions and dialogue really draw you into the story. Their connection feels so genuine and sweet, it's lovely to watch. Although it's quite short, I think it's the perfect length for the story they're trying to tell and it makes it a nice little binge.

It's incredibly refreshing to watch a BL that doesn't use misunderstandings and lack of communication to try to keep the story going. It's an added bonus that they were able to create a story with little to no conflict yet still make it thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
