This drama has nothing but Bailu's pretty face

Like honestly, I was down to see some romance but this drama doesn't know where it's going. The motivations of the main character are terribly explained and for many times I was confused if she knew certain plot points or not. The secondary couples also do not make this more enjoyable, except maybe Bi Roushan and the wealthy man she has on and offs again and again. I just watched it to see more of my girl's beautiful face and to quench my curiosity over Dylan's actual voice for the first time. But it's a whole lot of nothing plotwise and dragged out for no reason at all.

This drama made me feel rage in levels never experienced before in my life

It's simply terrible. 10 years ago, I couldn't walk two steps into kdrama space without being recommended this and to this day I wish to know why? The only value BOF has is as something campy to make u
fun of, and people were genuinely taking it seriously?
The acting is simply a joke, the couple made me wanna rip my eyes out of the sockets and I only kept watching it for the hope it would get better. It didn't.
The romance is so toxic I feel like it damaged my immune system, and honestly I know the source material cause the Japanese version with the dude from Arashi holds up much well, so why is this so bad? And that's not even trying to make sense of those characters cause the changes made by the Korean version make no sense at all. I'll give a star for every F4.
Having said that. The soundtrack still slaps. Long live Shinee. The only redeeming thing in the 25 hours of my life I wasted on this.

Good writing always works!

It's simply a very well-written drama with an engaging plot and excellent romance. The long episodes go by like a lightning, it's very well-made, with a complicated family in the center of it all living through two simultaneous crisis. Kim Soo Hyun portrays his most vulnerable main lead, it's such a great testimony to his acting. The secondary cast simply served, they are all charismatic and interesting in their own ways. I could barely see those hour and a half episodes going by. Streaming, INVEST IN YOUR WRITERS! Also the soundtrack is so iconic. Definitely a 10.

The best drama of 2023 and quite possibly of my life

It's going to be one year since this aired soon and I still cry about it. It altered my brain chemistry and might have altered the course of my life. I've watched some xianxias but this one is simply and all-rounder. It's got a great plot, excellent acting, excellent visuals, the costumes are on top, there's not a single mistake here. Even the soundtrack is etched in my heart now. The characters are incredibly well written and this drama is so organized, it's simply addictive. The couple has great chemistry, there's simply nothing I could ask for but more episodes. It's a masterpiece. Give yourself a favour and find the piece of your heart that was missing in the story of Li Susu and Tantai Jin. It's cathartic like very few things I came into contact with in my lifetime.

There's no plot, no romance, no good acting

This drama is an entertainment void. Absolutely not fun to watch, the acting isn't the best, the vampire plot is handled terribly, it's a nonsense slow burn and even the real life marriage that came out of it didn't work out.
I thought the villain would add some seasoning here but, no. The premise that vampirism is a disease is interesting but it's for nothing here. The writing doesn't know where it's going, Goo Hye Sun's character is really annoying and the romance here has to accommodate for the plot which is very tiring to watch. It's like you're in a rock festival with a very bad band as the opening act but then the actual band you came to watch sucks a lot, so you just wonder why did I come here?
Some characters are charismatic but it's absolutely not worth it. I tried to finish this so many times until I realized it was literally torturing me. Just go for something else. There is no shortage of good vampire shows to watch, even if you want something campy.

A good story, but not well executed

So we have a Mafia boss from Italy who was adopted from Korea and he drops random phrases in Italian all the time. it's basically the antithesis of Daniel-san's master in Karate Kid.
Anyway, the drama is packed with very charismatic characters and very serious topics, but it has a great sense of humor. It's a big achievement from Song Joong Ki and Taecyeon who were the dreamy righteous male lead in many dramas before, Taecyeon is more of the rom-com type while Song Joong Ki had this 007 thing going on in which he's a man on a mission with many action scenes and taking responsibility for a bunch of other men. In here they are just two despicable men trying to one up each other committing crimes and public humiliations. It would be pretty nice, if it had a good conclusion sequence, the ending felt very bland. Also the dynamics with Hong Cha Young who was supposed to be a romantic lead for both of them kinda had to be left aside, which pains me cause she had much more chemistry with Taecyeon's character (but this narrative line had to stay kinda ambiguous on the sidelines, with Vincenzo it felt much more like a fun friendship and they pushed it to be more romantic but it doesn't float my boat.
The characters in Geumgadong are living in my heart and I ADORE their participation in this.
Overall, a good time, but it lacked a good conclusion.
