What a strange series

For Him had a promising start as the few first episodes were pretty good and intriguing. But then it fizzled out pretty quickly. The plot had several holes and inconsistencies, and small details really ruined the continuity. For example, the characters' hair colors changed scene by scene, and the flashbacks were easy to mix with the current events. Also the way some plot lines were not fully followed through or finished really made this drama very confusing and difficult to watch.

The weakest point here to me were the characters. Him was very odd, he didn't show much growth during the series and the way he treated Nail like he was a child or a doll he could own was extremely strange. The way he, in the beginning, was very consumed and haunted by the memories of Blue, but by the last episode he seemed to have forgotten his ex ever even existed. He seemed shallow, and like he was only interested in Nail because he was pretty. I don't know what the point of the Mean Girls type of girl gang was and why they were even included in the show because they didn't bring anything into it. I personally didn't even realise Te and Pae were two different people until the last episode, since their characters were so interchangeable and empty. Chao was reduced to over eager, horny sex maniac and Pie into a cold, disinterested artist and their whole plot and relationship was about the same yes-no back and forth. It was strange how they added that random guy to be Te's love interest in the last few episodes, when we hadn't even seen him before and Te had never shown any interest in anyone else than Blue/Nail, but suddenly he had a crush on this random guy we knew nothing about. Also that one guy who waved a gun around in the club just disappeared and got away with it, never to be mentioned again. In the last episode after Nail got his tattoo and Him started touching and kissing it, I almost screamed out loud. That would never happen in a million years with a fresh tatttoo and it really ruined the believability of it for me. When Him put his feet on the fresh tattoo, I could basically hear the infection starting to brew. And yes I know it wasn't a real tattoo but these sort of small details can really make a difference. The main couple didn't give us anything, Nail was a pretty himbo and Him was an obnoxious, kinda gross creep. The plot is full of holes and nothing is followed through or finished. What a confusing and frustrating watch.

Also, the last episode was just a 50 minute long advertisement. Almost every scene had a product placement of some sort, and nothing really happened. I also don't understand why most of the episodes were only 25-30 minutes long and at the end there was 15-20 minutes of bts, that could have been posted separately to youtube. It felt like they had lost interest in writing the show and wanted to fill out the missing time with bts clips.

The low production quality and bad writing really ruined it. If this show had a better production team and actually good writers, this could have been great. But as it is now, it really isn't worth it. It's too bad because the plot really could have been made into something super interesting and exciting.

This is not a good drama, and I wouldn't waste my time on this unless there was absolutely nothing else to watch. I am interested to see the actors in other projects, and see if they would be better working with different production teams. It's a shame this turned out so disappointing after a very promising start.

Too much arguing is not good for the soul

Initially I was very excited to watch this, because just by reading the synopsis the plot seemed unique and interesting. Well, it turned out to be everything but. Medical drama? Not really. Supernatural? Not really. Thriller? Mystery? Romcom? None of those. This show fell flat on everything it was trying so hard to achieve. I had high hopes for this, because usually Studio Wabi Sabi can bring emotions and plot to life very well. This time though, it did not happen for me. Most parts turned out to be more cringey than emotional, and most episodes nothing happened, other than arguing and self pity.

There were so many inconsistencies and factual errors in the plot and production that it really took away from the story itself. The main actors didn't seem to have any chemistry at all and the whole thing didn't even come across as a romance until episode 10. It was just two guys arguing over the same stuff in almost every episode, which got very tiring very fast. Maybe it was Nut, maybe he really wasn't up for the role, because (at least to me) all of his emotions seemed to be pretty much the same, and his main emotion was mostly.. emotionless. The best thing about this drama is for sure the side characters. Nuch is the unproblematic modern girl boss we all need in our lives, Keeta and Nathee delivered on the chemistry and Metha was the sound of reason essential to the plot. Prakan keeps blaming Tua for things he can't do anything about, and Tua is there to actually help the dead move on, he doesn't actually go around murdering them. It was frustrating how Prakan did not understand this.

The part that truly bothered me the most about this drama was the flaws and inconsistencies. The soul reaper rules changed according to the situation and to fit the plot. It also makes no sense that Prakan is supposed to be a doctor, who went to med school, trained for years in different clinics, but still he is not able to deal with death? They have full on courses in med school about death and how to handle with it, and yet this guy who is up to be a chief of surgeon doesn't understand the circle of life? Death is a natural ending for us all, and doctors are being trained to understand it. Yet Prakan was like a child refusing to listen about why his pet fish was floating in the tank. His mother had been sick for years before she passed, and Prakan behaved like her death was the most shocking thing ever happened in his life. He had seen her battle with cancer, he had witnessed the pain and suffering she went through, and heard her say she doesn't want to fight anymore. She was dying and he refused to listen to her and instead guilt tripped her into chemotherapy. As a doctor, he should have understood her better. Losing a loved one is horrible, but her death was not sudden or surprising. Also the medical errors were truly strange - patients not intubated during surgery, even a heart transplant was apparently performed without intubating the patient. Surgical gloves worn underneath the surgical gown, not on top like they're supposed to be worn. And many more small things like that really bugged me.

Pros of this show:
+ Side characters were great
+ OST

Cons of this show:
- Plot errors, factual errors, inconsistencies
- Very slow paced
- Constant arguing between main couple
- Minimal romance
- Frustrating childish behaviour from adults
- Soul reaper rules not consistent at all
- Silly details like a phone on a tombstone, that's more comedic than dark

Of course this is just my opinion, if you liked this show, then good for you, I'm glad you did! :)

Entertaining but there is room for improvement

I had somewhat low expectations for this drama, but it was way better than I thought. Don't get me wrong - it wasn't the best drama I ever watched, and had some significant issues, but a lot of it was pretty good too!

The plot itself is pretty basic enemies to lovers - nothing new or revolutionary there. The main couple also didn't do it for me, there wasn't really much chemistry between the actors and it was quite obvious in the characters they were portraying too. I didn't feel any connection between them until well into the last episode, until that it was more like a friendship, where Bohn bullied Duen just because he felt like it and liked to get a reaction out of him. They don't kiss until the last episode, they don't even hold hands until the last episode, they barely even sit next to each other until then. To me, them as boyfriends, it was not very convincing at all. Their constant arguing and Bohn's "teasing" really bugged me until the end.

The best thing in this show was for sure the side couples, especially RamKing. The chemistry between the actors was very good, I could sense the tension and emotion between just by the way they looked at each other. King's persistent approach and Ram's silent affirmation put together with lingering looks and subtle touches was truly the best thing in this whole show. The way they interacted was very very good and seriously enjoyable to watch. The flower crown by the waterfall was just the sweetest, most thoughtful thing too, and finally everything culminating towards a confession. RamKing was by far the best thing in the show.

Other couples like Boss and Mek, a humorous but sweet and truly genuine connection with a cute hubby-wife nickname situation was a constant source of joy for me. Also the more grown Frong and Thara were refreshing to see and watch with their budding romance.

Pros in the series:
+ RamKing ; truly the best thing in this show. The chemistry is so good!
+ Other side couples were very good!
+ Many different type of characters
+ Cute husky dogs
+ A lot of fine details, such as the venus flytrap thing
+ Last 2 episodes were the best

Cons in the series:
- Main couple did not have much chemistry
- Constant arguing and bickering of the main couple
- No intimacy (not even hand holding) of the main couple, even though they were boyfriends
- Relentless teasing from Bohn where it stopped being funny or cute and got tiring.
- Excessive jealousy from Bohn and overall bad attitude towards a person he was supposed to be in love with
- Some annoying continuity errors in the plot
- I didn't really buy the emotions & feelings of the main couple at all
- The "I don't like men, I just like you" trope
- Main couple was, in the end, really boring through all 14 episodes until the literal last moment

That being said, I am very excited for season 2 and look forward to watching it, especially RamKing!
