too much plot

jack & joker is not even close to being a decent show so far cos—them meeting/their past, joke's jailtime, their reunion enemyship and cohabitation were all sped through and barely had buildup. not bringing jack's lack of character development so far cos it's through joke pov rn. there's too many side plotlines cluttering the main heist of which there are two now? which ig are sorta connected and can be excused but seriously though the ring plot is holding on by a thread not to mention the bs sewercide backstory w jack's parents and joke's helicopter dad. their relationship itself has nothing going on LIKE he hates him why? he got scammed and then he let him live in his house (??) and now they're partners? they're faught what once? thrice? so far and have like 3 scenes worth of interaction between, in the same frame and then side couple? useless. no one cares. naive guy, friends with protag vs guy who works for a crook, hates protag/coworker could be interesting if it wasn't at the cost of main relationship. im actually so pissed jack and joker's relationship seems to be going nowhere can you tell? i get that this is action heavy unlike love mechanics which honed into relationships and interactions but i feel this could've been much better if the writers/directors had tapped into yinwar's incredible microexpressive acting along with all the boom pow over the top scenes. the unnecessary zoom-ins, long lines that literally add nothing new, scene and tone switching, shitty loud ass background music.... all in all this is nawt giving elaborate action-heist comedy it's giving medicorely made slapstick gag.

(update) yinwar acting down on the latest j&j episode but what even is the point with this slap things on and see what sticks type of plot :/ not only is too much going on but it's getting repetitive preseries joke betrayal misunderstanding jack forgiving him and now the same shit all over like the theiving plot was fun in of itself and then there's the grandma sickness and jack fake marriage and now the lil girl is in the hospital too? i get that joke's father's a surgeon but sab ko thoosne ke chakar me kuch aur nahi ho raha bas ye character ka struggle phir us character ka struggle with 10+ characters the only screentime of the main couple is when their fighting or fucking which is fun and all but we don't know shit about any of these characters except when vocalised by the other characters which is a WASTE of yinwar's acting talent

how to love someone when you hate the world/the world hates you

(pre-finale review)
dohoe and juyeong still feel as intensely about each other after a dozen years without communication as they did when they were kids re the way dohoe immediately kissed juyeong on remembering the note he left him and juyeong going back for more right after they break apart.. squeee.. it's just that they are extremities on a spectrum with how they view and react to abuse. juyeong takes it as what it is maybe it's because he was raised religiously but he wants to reconcile with people; he steps in immediately and fights like it's his second nature but forgives and forgets just as easily. dohoe on the other hand thinks people's behaviours are fundamentally wrong and gets increasingly upset at not being able to fix it and this frustration leaks into every part of his life. he focuses on himself when other people are too much to bear but feels incredibly guilty at his selfishness (he's just like me). if they can't agree to disagree, the differences in their personalities will keep coming between their love. juyeong cares too much and is simultaneously carefree. dohoe thinks and feels A Lot. their personalities can actually balance each other's out perfectly if juyeong stops and thinks for a moment and dohoe stops thinking for one goddamn minute.

story/directing wise i do think the pacing constraints makes it seem haywire especially at first with the random timeskip and the third wheel/side love interest plot seems halfbaked and unnecessary, almost as if they gave up on it half way through.

side note: not to fujoshi out but that reunion sex scene while they were arguing paralleling with their first time is *chef's kiss* like the scene switching is perfect i want MORE such a nosebleed moment

(finale review)
tune in next week ^-^ (i literally have finals next week lolol)

slow as fuck...snoozefest...nothing happens but if ur into that it's great

it's very, veeeeery slow paced. the progress of the characters and their relationship are in focus and, you guessed it, excruciatingly slow which is realistic but can be frustrating for those watching a show for entertainment. the platonic/romantic aspect is up for interpretation and either ways there's no denying that it's a lovely build up. it's fun to watch though. my only issue is with the directing and camera/scene switching because it seemed quite abruptly cut and happazard. i would suggest you watch this while doing background menial tasks because fast-forwarding or skipping scenes ruins the whole appeal.

girl get up!!!!! men aren't all that :/

what comes after love is (subjectively) a very bad show. the lovey-dovey scenes aside, i dislike the "bright and cheerful woman gets cold and uncaring after a breakup" trope cos choi hong girl get off the floor he wasn't all that like jungo was a mid man at best minjun is better...

he chose his career over her? i also dislike the "can't move on from my one true love that happened 300 years ago" trope in straight dramas for some reason like it's not that serious move on lol, lmao even. i get that her mother's marrying her off due to societal expectations but i HATE when they portray milquetoast heterosexual relationships as forbidden love bffr he's from japan ur from korea it's not like ur moving to atlantis.

i DON'T want her to get back with that man. she's finally unburdened from the weight of not one but two men and u want her to get back with jungo? all for a love she has already tried and knows isn't worth it? that was what happened in little woman have we not evolved since 1868

absolutely terrible

this is one of those genuinely unenjoyable dramas that make me baffled to find out that people actually enjoy this steaming hot pile of garbage????? maybe my personal bias against both rich people and marriage as an institution is affecting my objectiveness but i hated every second of this extremely unrelatably written plot and i hated jiwon's character immensely. dongyeon's role, soohyun crying were the only highlights imo it's boththe main leads WORST work that appeals to uncritical straights
