So Hee played this role like her life was on the LINE.
So Hee really came through with her acting. This has to be her best performance yet. This show just further proves how dynamic of an actor So Hee can really be. UGH! NO ONE'S DOING IT LIKE SO HEE!The story can drag on a bit, but it's not that noticeable as there's only eight episodes. There are some obvious plot twists but it is still enjoyable. Romance plot was a bit iffy because it was kinda unnecessary (but I understand why they would include it). Overall, love this show. So Hee's acting really made the show.

The Best BL Show Ever to Exist.
This show has amazing acting, amazing cinematography (which you don't see often in BL series), an amazing OST...amazing everything. This show is horribly under-rated and I hope it gets more praise in the future when season two comes out. The plot is so...realistic. There are times where you are mad at Teh for how childish he's acting, but that's exactly what he is, a child. He has a narrow view of the world and there are multiple times where his rigid personality affects not only himself but the ones he loves. He's such a flawed character, but he's written so well that the audience understands his rash and rather dumb decisions. It's really satisfying seeing his character development throughout the show, and it's also satisfying that not everything goes his way. It's just like real life, and I love it so much. Oh is a very mature person for his age, and I like the contrasting personalities between him and Teh. It is nice to see a character like this: Oh knows exactly what he wants and he isn't afraid to say what he wants. Juxtapose this with Teh, who is very indecisive and impulsive. Ugh. UGH IT'S SO GOOD. Usually when watching BL dramas, you're supposed to have this expectation that the plot and personalities are not realistic. But this show...I know I keep saying realistic, but it's just that. It's realistic, satisfying, beautiful...everything. I love this show so. damn. much. Props to the director, because he guided the actors so well. This is a phenomenal piece of work. I 100% recommend this show. It's so underrated and deserves all the praise in the world. Was this review helpful to you?
BOOM SHAKALAKAAA
I LOVED THIS PREMISE. I've not watched many transmigration shows, but this one is AMAZING. Like the transmigration to lowkey enemies to lovers...this is everything I needed in a c-drama. I don't really read synopses when I start c-dramas, but I think watching this while not knowing anything about the plot made it better!!! Especially when it got to the transmigration plot.Originally, I thought the story would go to palace drama where it's real Yang CaiWei versus ShangGuan Zhi (like Yang CaiWei has to fight to make Pan Yue to believe it's actually her), but I pleasantly enjoyed the route they went.
**SPOILERS AHEAD***
One thought I had though...Zhuo LanJiang and Bai XiaoSheng's little side relationship was giving situationship ðŸ˜because what do you mean he won't say I like you or I love you but he's gonna say "I feel at peace when you're near me" and then they're doing the dirty LIKE I KNOW THEY ACTUALLY LOVE EACH OTHER but I kept thinking of it LMAO they were very cute though and justice for them fr

Loved it but unnecessary tearjerker ?
So, this was the first drama I've watched in a while. I watched this without knowing much about the story, so I was really excited about the revenge assassin, enemies to lovers, type of show, but it fizzles out after the first few episodes. I LOVEDDD Mei Lin acting as an assassin and trying to seduce Murong Jing He, but that tension dies out quickly, and they're just partners working together to get revenge, which is okay, but all that tension they had in the first few episodes goes away and they're just like...coworkers.There were a couple of unsatisfying parts of the show, which include:
General Yin deeply falling in love with the crown prince. She loved Murong Jing He for so long yet quickly moves on to the crown prince after she sees the room he dedicated to her? Like okay, but bffr.
The crown prince dying--Mei Lin wanted to kill the real Qingzhou mass murderer or at least see him die, but instead of Mei Lin (the main character, mind you) getting what she wishes for, the crown prince gets a nice, comfy death as he's straddled in the arms of the one he loves. Like, he didn't even show remorse at the end, he said some bs like "Oh General Yin if only we were together earlier [I may not have turned out like this." LIKE?!?!?! That made me mad.
All of the side characters dying--I think another thing is, the side characters weren't developed enough for me to be really sad when they died. Also, I already knew Concubine Yan would die when they showed that slow mo shot of her in the first few episodes. I was really sad when Qingyan died though. Also A-Wei. The writers didn't need to do that to me.
Last, but not least--KILLING MEI LIN?!?!? Like I have dried up tears and snot on my face because the writers wanted to fuck around and kill her off WHEN IT DOESNT EVEN HAPPEN IN THE ORIGINAL NOVEL ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ When Jing He and Mei Lin were finally together, it was really satisfying to see them come full circle in their journey together. But seeing them have such a short amount of time with each other really made me sob. But I sobbed in vain because the novel allegedly has a happy ending. w h a t
Here's some satisfying parts: the first few episodes
All in all, I spent a week pushing back assignments to watch this show, and...it ended up being okay.

Came watching this thinking it's gonna be a romance...T.T still fun to watch though
The first 15 to 20 episodes were pretty fun and interesting; however, as cheng shaoshang enters the palace, i just started to lose interest. I liked seeing the mother's character growth--she is probably one of the most three-dimensional characters in this show--but I wished her change in character towards niao niao was a bit more obvious before the five year time jump. Also, WHY DIDN'T THEY EVEN SHOW THE WEDDING T.T 56 episodes and all for nothing TTT.TTT It's alright though...The show was still enjoyable, and I think the lack of kiss/intimate scenes made me cherish the main couple's relationship even more. :)
