I wanted to watch something without love triangles & forced melodrama, so picked up this drama having read comments & reviews about SA1%. I ended up being mildly disappointed, the light romcom part lasts for the first 10-11 episodes, but the comedy isn't very strong, nor is the romance that interesting by itself. The leads have chemistry, but the whole dating situation felt, for a lack of a better word odd. The contract kept generating unnecessary tension all "Sword of Damocles" like and following the inevitable breakup we had 90 minutes of pointless melodrama, I'm sure the writers wanted to conjure some onion ninjas there, but I just wasn't invested enough in the characters for that to work. At least the ending was nice, although grandpa giving away his fortune like that made the entire plot semi pointless.

Extremely problematic relationships.

I can’t believe this show has such a high rating. Right from the beginning, it’s obvious through their interactions how abusive the male lead is. And some how it is romanticised? His possessiveness and ownership over her, right down to asking her to cut the men out of her life — that’s not romance. The female lead felt like a pushover despite being someone who has led a very interdependent life.

Watch this show only if you want to know what red flags in a relationship are. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you want to know what should be avoided!

Hidden gem!!!

Aaaaaahhhhhhh what to tell
It's the sweetest drama I have ever seen
I mean I loved it to the core

Why you must watch it
Fast paced
Shorter drama in comparison to others
Steamy kisses
Sweet moments
No vicious vamps or villain
There isn't any big obstacle at all
Strong female lead
Posessive male lead

Contract relationship is a common plot but it's still refreshing and amazing
It's so good that I wanted it to keep going on
I just didn't like one thing and that is male lead dressing sense lol..
No messy love triangle
Just sweet moments
I loved it soooooo much
There is finally a drama there who doesn't give you headache because of bitchy characters unwanted problems...it was realistic cause in real life there are not so many problems attacking at you at the same time

Really!!! Just give it a watch

MY KIND OF HIDDEN GEM <3

there were a huge number of reviews about this drama already, and yet i still wanna write one bcs i love it hehe! first of all....WHY DID I JUST FIND SUCH HIDDEN GEM DRAMA 5 YEARS LATE FOR GOD SAKE?!?! it has a light storyline, 16 eps with about 30 mins each, quite fast paced, bold fl stubborn ml (but he seems to have feelings for her from beginning), i love the way ml jealous over fl's male friends and otherwise, besides he clearly rejects sfl who chases after him at all costs. LET ALONE HES VERY CLINGY TOWARDS FL GOSH I'M ABOUT TO HAVE DIABETES IN NO TIME HAHAHAAH VERY VERY FLUFFY!
the most important component in romantic dramas aside from storyline, casts, acting etc, that is KISSING SCENE. yep i'm the type of person who likes steamy kisses! (or at least PROPER KISSES not like a dead fish) and they did perfectly!! lemme give u a sneak peak, patiently waiting for ep 13 hehe! borahae <3

I am going to admit this right off the bat this is a fantastic drama. I went through this in a really fast speed and I enjoyed it too much.

Story: I will start off this section by saying I have not seen the original drama that this is based off of. This is really your typical rom com story, but I think this was different for me. I honesty really got suck in with it, and with episodes only 30-40 minutes long it easy to binge watch.

Acting/Cast: I was really impressed with Ha Suk Jin in this show, he was really the stand out role for me in this drama, and I really want to see more from him (which gets me really excited because he is mainly supporting roles though). Jeon So Min had her really great moments too. The supporting cast did the job right for a rom com, and I'm happy with the casting choices.

Music:Now I'm usually one who is keen on music on show because I like to listen to OST a lot. I did like one song from this (which I had to search up because I honesty got suck up in the story of this that I needed to listen to one of the song), and that is I Want You Bad. other than that the music was OK.

Rewatch/Overall value: Overall I gave this a 10 because it stuck with me, I did think about a 9.5 but I decided a 10. I will rewatch this some day.

This light romantic comedy was entertaining and short (16 episodes only).

Story 8.5
The love story between  a rich egocentric charming heir of a conglomerate and apoor but kind-hearted school-teacher. Jae In's grandfather acted as matchmaker/fairy godfather, to bring the two seemly mismatched characters together.

Acting/Cast 8.5
Ha Suk Jin and Jeon So Min were perfectly cast as the lead characters.

Music 8.0
Music moved the drama  toward the conclusion.

Rewatch value 9
I watched this drama twice.

Overall 8.5
The weekly scripts and the leading actors' performances kept my attention, as the romance continued on the incline.  I cringed at Jae In's fashion choices 90% of the time.  Ha Suk Jin/Jae In looked perfect, otherwise.

This was a cute, easy-to-watch and light drama to watch. Its a typical kdrama with all the cliches but there are a few value adds. The main lead isn't a cold guy. Instead he's warm and caring although grumpy at times. Its quite hard not to fall for him. The female lead is not a pushover either. Their chemistry wasn't sizzling but it was pretty good. I will rewatch this if I'm bored. Some things are very relatable though like how her best friend said there might be a seemingly perfect guy with 99 good traits but once you see one flaw in him, that 99 good traits mean nothing. Instead, a guy with 99 bad traits but you notice one good thing about him which is his charm, that's what you fall for.

The definition of rom-com

Even though I went in knowing this was a rom-com, I can't help but feel like I was hoping for a little bit more of everything.

Firstly, I've never had so much trouble suspending my disbelief. The whole contract situation felt just odd, and the lack of logic honestly made it hard for me to become emotionally invested in this drama.

While I appreciate strong female leads, I was definitely hoping for more fire between the main leads. We got some at the start, but the main female lead tolerated a lot from the guy that I wish she called him out for. I really didn't feel the relationship between them, but I appreciate that there was no crazy misunderstandings or noble idiocy break-up.

In fact, they were a lot more solid than I expected, and maybe that's one of the reasons also felt like I was waiting for a climax conflict that never really came. Of course, we got all the cliches: the jealous ex, suspicious stock prices, a disapproving family member, fake news...but none of it really hit me as much as I wish it did.

I still enjoyed watching it as a little fun thing to do while multitasking, and one thing that I actually really liked in this was the sismance. In fact, the main FL's best friend was probably my favorite character out of them all, and especially towards the end with the emergence of a side-ship, she had the kind of fire that I thought the main lead was going to have. She stuck by her friend no matter what and their little domestic conversations were so wholesome and fun to watch.

Perfection!

This drama is PERFECTION! It’s an amazing and beautiful story of two opposite individuals who fall in love despite those differences.

The plot isn’t bogged down by clichés and contrived situations (thankfully), but on the romance of the two leads, which is just perfect. From the getting to know each other, to falling in love, to resolving conflicts both within and outside, etc. It shows the intricacies and nuances of being in a relationship.

It’s lovely and refreshing to see how mature the two leads are in dealing with situations. How they talk about their problems and didn’t let them drag about.

This drama is really sweet and swoony. The dialogue is intelligent and spot on. The script is fantastic.

It also has the best ending! Perhaps the most satisfying happy ending among all the many dramas I’ve seen!

And the chemistry between the two leads is off the charts, such that it doesn’t seem like they’re still acting anymore. And there’s a lot of skinship, too! Many hugs, kissing(some of the best in Kdrama land, if not the best), and affectionate gestures—the most that I’ve seen in a Kdrama which is great!

I really love this drama. It’s my number 1 favorite. I was so sad when it ended that I had withdrawal for days, heh. Watch it if you like a sweet, swoony romance that makes your toes curl and makes you believe love conquers all!

The story line and acting was decent could've been better. I think the girl esp in the beginning was unbelievable. Her acting was too much it was fake. I dint believe her at all thats y i rated low. The guy on the other hand was good. I think they coulda cast a different harabuji coz this one wasn't cutting it.
Onthe positive theres not much evil going on and theres alot of kiss scenes which are good. Kdramas are notorious for mediocre and few of them. It's just 40 minutes so it goes by faster.
Its a good show to pass time. Finished in a day and a half

A Slow Burn Romance with Classic Charm

Something about 1% is a drama that initially took me some time to warm up to, especially regarding the lead characters. At first, I was uncertain if they could carry the story in a way that would engage me fully. However, as I continued watching, my appreciation for the show and its characters grew, eventually leading me to truly enjoy the series. It has that classic, old-school drama vibe that brings a sense of nostalgia and simplicity, which is quite refreshing in contrast to the more complex narratives seen in many of today’s dramas.

What I particularly loved about this drama was the dynamic between the leads. Their chemistry evolved in a genuine and heartfelt manner, making their journey together as a couple truly captivating. Despite my initial reservations, their relationship development became one of the aspects I appreciated most. However, I wasn’t a fan of the breakup episodes, which felt like a forced plot device to add unnecessary drama and tension. Despite this, they left a lasting impression, reminding me of the charm and appeal of older, simpler romantic comedies. It’s a testament to the show that, despite its flaws, it can win over viewers with its heartfelt moments and endearing characters.

Predictable and tropey with charming leads

This is a remake of an older drama from 2003. As such it has many of the tropes that are considered classics in the land of dramas: fake dating, a sum of money as part of the contract which becomes something of a mcguffin, jealous x-girlfriends, a dramatic kidnapping incident, a rich man and a poor woman, etc. A drama from the early 2000s that's filled to the brim with these familiar story set-ups is usually forgiven because it's 'of its time', the trouble when adapting is that people don't necessarily want that in a modern drama. A good example would be the 2018 remake of Meteor Garden, which struggled through some of the more problematic plot points taken from the 2001 version while having none of the original's charm.

However, Something about 1% manages to be light, fun and surprisingly earnest. It leans in to the tropes of its story while imbuing them with more sweetness, heart and gentleness than the original. Sure we've got the ridiculous shenanigans of a fake dating contract and shareholders scheming to try to get back at the ML for edging them out in the hotel business, but we never forget what the real heart of the story is: two people falling in love with each other. The chemistry between the leads is incredible and the kiss scenes were refreshingly passionate rather than reminding me of two dead fish touching their lips together in surprise. The story is cliche, the costumes and setting feel low-budget and simple, but the leads have such bright and crackling chemistry that the whole thing feels fun and fresh rather than tired and boring.
