What a lovely, straight forward romance!

This was a hidden gem, and something I picked up only because I was looking for contract romances. The love story was so cute, feel-good and one of the best I have ever seen in kdramas! And it's such a natural portrayal of relationships with lots of cuddles, kisses and hugs, and doesn't drag or slow down in any way. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend for romance kdrama fans!

The acting is great too - am surprised the ML and FL haven't been cast in many hit dramas since this one, I would love to see them in romance dramas again. The ML is just so cute, you can't take any offense even when he's rude in the beginning.

This is just a beautiful story, a classical romance drama with both strong main characters. if you just to sit and enjoy romance and bantering this is the drama for you, its the classic rich and poor marriage contract with a little twist. I love how the story fluently progressed and change on its own pace giving you a inkling to watch the next episode just to keep enjoying it. Great casting and story with a little humor.

The epitome of a toxic relationship.

I thought by 2016, kdramaland would have evolved from the Boys over flowers’ abusive behaviour depictions. Here, we have a clearly toxic and controlling ML that could be potentially even dangerous. (Fast forward in your mind how a controlling bf turns into an abusive husband.)
It is unfathomable to me how this thing was written and accepted as a scenario of a rom com (and how so many people gave it such good reviews).

Young watchers beware. What is passed as tsundere but overly smitten ML is actually a character fraught with abusive actions towards the FL. Needless to say, actions which no woman should accept or even face. We are not talking about a consensual S/M relationship. We are not talking about fiction vs reality but about a very bad example of what falling in love is or is supposed to be and what is deemed as “passionate” or “cute and loving” behaviour.
E.g. Several grabbing, dragging and pushing moments where the FL looks actually scared and/or uncomfortable, controlling what one wears, not allowing FL to have other male friends, disregarding FL’s needs/emotions, the list can go on for ever.

Do not get me wrong, I do enjoy the occasional kabedon (and its variations) when it actually is an expression of passion and NOT dominance. This is not about that. This is not raw passion or love but rather, disrespect, apathy, manipulation and abuse.

Have I deterred you enough? I have more!
Subpar acting paired with mid 2000s fashion and restaurant scene choices. (No korean food restaurants whatsoever for some reason.)
I honestly cannot see how this thing even managed to air without an audience outcry.

1/10

Hidden Gem

This is truly a gem! I've never cried because of too much happiness until this. I was seriously rooting for the main leads.
This drama deserve so much appreciation and recognition.
If you are into romance with skin ships and kisses once in a while, then you will love this. Your heart will melt and burst with so much love for this mature relationship.
If you're also into CEO with possessive and childish personality but could love selflessly as well, then THIS IS FOR YOU!
(You will also wish you're the female lead.)
The ML & FL Chemistry was on fire and literally you will never know how much time has passed while watching this. It will keep you wanting for more. I basically finished this in a day.

PS. Why did they stop doing k-drama like this? #

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this

I agree with the many other people who say there isn't much about this drama which separates it from the rest. That doesn't mean it's bad though.

I really enjoyed this drama. The ML and FL played their roles brilliantly as well as the supporting cast. Seeing the ML evolve throughout the series was probably my favorite bit. The romance didn't seem over the top, and the series came to a very satisfying end.

Overall I would recommend this to anyone who is in between dramas and looking for something light hearted and fun to watch.

I dropped this drama once, thinking how plain the female lead is, and how she left her little students by themselves only to look for a wounded man. Once I picked up again I stayed for several more episodes and the story gets better. Nonetheless, there are some fillers like Jae In's sister and Jae In's ex, probably inserted in the drama to spice up the show but they're not done right. Should expand more on Tae Ha and Hyeon Jin. The chemistry is strong with some steamy kisses. And I love the real deal proposal, it sounds so grounded.

a bad deal for Da-heyon

I've seen a lot of K-dramas with wild finishes, but this one might be the most depressing of them all (death maybe excluding "everyone dies"). Usually in romance both characters need to grow or change in some capacity in order for them to end up together, but this was just "okay so Da-hyeon has to give up absolutely everything and in exchange Jae-in will.... be good to her when she is old" ??? How is that a reasonable exchange lol. It would almost be clever as a commentary on the idea of chaebol dramas, but I don't get the sense it was going for that. If the show admitted how absolutely bleak Da-hyeon's life is now, that would be one thing, but no.
Anyway, bleak bleak stuff. It was fine otherwise, nothing special, but the conclusion was so bad.

So lame that it is probably okay (maybe just bearable)

From the very beginning, the story did not make any sense. It was ridden with cliches and over the top melodrama. The only good thing this drama had the offer was the chemistry between the lead pair. It has to be noted that the ML was veryyy possessive and borderline neurotic but maybe that is something people find cute in couples. But when together, the leads were undeniably adorable and worth shipping throughout the drama.
Stupid plotlines without much explanation were introduced and the leads, although pretty cute together, lacked any depth or intensity in their own right. Some aspects did not seemed well thought out, like, were they trying to tease a love triangle? Why did some scenes or some characters even exist if they were not lending anything to the story?
It was a light supposed rom-com with not much comedy. The side characters were unremarkable and annoying . Their interactions were boring and pretty skippable. The OST was not memorable and the show had okayish production value. It was an okay drama with zero rewatch value.

Perfection.

It's something that can rarely be used to describe a drama. Normally it starts off good but somewhere things go wrong and the show goes down hill.

Not this one. Perfection is the best way to describe Something About 1 Percent.

I have enjoyed EVERY MOMENT of this drama. Its sweet, minimal drama, smart characters, and has relationships that feel more real and intimate than actual relationships that I've been in. Not only is the acting amazing and genuine, the chemistry is off the charts.

Although this was a remake, it blows the old one out of the water and should be considered to be the ONLY VERSION of this show. Jae In is a dream man and DaDa is someone who every woman should aspire to be.

Truly, I'll be sad to put this on my completed list but for sure, there are many rewatches in my future.

Something so different from other dramas (My 1%)

I came across this drama by accident because I had nothing else to watch but when I noticed the high ratings on Viki, I knew I had to give it a try. But boyyy that was the best decision I’ve ever made. If you’re looking a for a simple story with characters that have an amazing chemistry from the start, this is the drama for you. it’s not drama heavy, and the story behind it could’ve been written better to make it even more interesting, but I kept watching for the romance. Seeing how the characters change over time and how their love just kept growing, despite them knowing it was all supposed to be fake kept me watching for hours nonstop. So again, it’s a light hearted drama, it’s refreshing, and simple, but there’s just something about it that I know I won’t be able to forget.

Just That 1% To Score 10 For This Drama

This was just a lovely drama to watch. The story focused a lot on both the male and female lead and was very well featured in each episode. I liked very much that Jae In (Ha Seok Jin) though tough and arrogant had a very warm and gentle side to him when it comes to true love (and can be quite possessive at times in a cute way). Certain and confident, he held the story/relationship throughout with finesse. One cannot help but wished that we were in Da Hin's (Jun So Min) shoes, swooning to the chase. However, she held her own as the lead actress who did not easily fall into his arms and taught Jae In a lesson or two about love and life.

The show had all the emotions which made me giggle, laugh, cry a little and heart fluttered a bit too to a happy ending.

A beautiful show from beginning to end and highly recommended to those who does not like dramatic love stories. This drama is captivating, easy to watch, no boring in betweens and pretty straightforward. I will not write details in this review as the beauty is discovering them as you watch. Enjoy!!

An amazing rom com

Something about 1 percent hits all the right boxes. It's a contract relationship done right, it is very funny, very romantic and a drama with a message. It hit a home run on everything a drama should hit.

The chemistry between the two leads is also scintillating and very refreshing in the land of open-eyed kisses. Moreover, the business element of the drama was adequate without overpowering the romance. I particularly loved how we did not go through the angst purgatory stage that romance dramas like to delve in . Everything still just flowed even when there was that tension.

The music was also very good and the supporting cast all had very compelling story lines. Usually in dramas like this, the support cast are just fillers but not in Something about 1 Percent.

The message was also solid . "Someone's 1% can be someone elses 99% of luck"so be kind. Essentially.

Did I mention that the chemistry is SIZZLING ????

I definitely recommend this drama.
