But if you are not a teenager and don't like dramas that feels like you are watching a shoujo anime, don't lost your time watching this.
The story is really cliché... A High School where all the boys are from rich families, good looking and all well dressed. And the main girl is the typical protagonist, who get a scholarship to study in the prestigious Ouran Academy. Overall, a easy rom/com drama, who could be better, if it weren't for the constant use of comedy, in an exaggerated way (the effects were so similar to a anime show, even the facial expression were to extreme).
The Cast was ok. Yamamoto Yusuke is so good looking and I loved him in Tumbling, but here It wasn't enough for me to enjoy the drama. Some of the characters were weird (like the 2 twins and the boy who was always with that bunny - did you find that cute? I didn't!) and I didn't feel any empathy with the characters.
The music was ok... Hum... I don't have most to say, it fits the drama.
Overall is mediocre. I enjoy it while I was watching it, but sometimes I had to skip some scenes, because many of them were simply ridiculous. Rewatch Value for me is a 1, because I can't give 0. I don't have any intension of rewatch this drama. Mainly because I was so glad to finished this drama, the sooner I could.
But like I said at the beginning of this review, this is my opinion, from someone that didn't watch the anime version and was curious about this. But after all, this is the kinda of dramas I don't like.

It's very silly, but it has a solid, original storyline that's worth following. I'd recommend this drama if you're looking to have a good laugh but don't want to feel your IQ draining out of your ears watching cheese crack dramas.
[Edit, I've already written a (different) review of this on my blog (linked below). If you want a little more of my thoughts than this review here, feel free to check. But the review here on MDL should be enough otherwise. :)]

Being a huge fan of the anime Ouran already had my heart so my review is most likely biased.
The cast is great, I love Yamamoto Yusuke in anything though. I think the cast really portrayed the characters gestures and mannerisms well, although it took some getting used to.
I watched the first episode and wasn't a huge fan (I mean whats up with Honey randomly shrinking!?) but i'm so glad I preserved- It gets alot better.
I love the music, Miwa is one of my favorites so its always fun to hear her song at the end.
Its super compressed into just 11 episodes, there's a lot more they could have done, but what they have done is great, very light hearted and fun.

Because I think the drama is exactly the same as the anime.
The acting is exactly the same as the anime and manga, which is great!
The animation in the drama is great!
The character are exactly the same, which is awesome!
But as I said I watched the anime already and I think the drama feels a bit unreal, but very funny, but i think i will leave for a time when I miss the anime or the manga :)
But If you did not read the manga or watch the anime,THEN WATCH IT,ITS VERY FUNNY!!!

The cast did a great job with their roles and really brought life to their characters. Kyoya's character was extremely well developed and was just wonderful. The twins and Tamaki were all perfect. The gal playing Haruhi for the most part did a great job, sure she didn't always show a lot of emotion, but Haruhi in the anime was pretty reserved as well (I haven't read the manga, please don't shoot me if this is wrong haha). Mori and Hunny acted their parts out well, they just were not given a lot of plot.
Music was pretty meh. Some of the instrumentals were lovely but would start at strange times.
I think this drama is definitely rewatchable as it is so short. 11 episodes at 20ish minutes is easy to do, and with the movie loose ends should be tied up nicely. Lovely, crazy, maddening standard manga/anime-Jdrama standard which I love. There are crazy antics and some lovely sweet scenes as well. If you need a laugh or a light hearted drama, watch Ouran.

Good points:
> It knew what genre of show it was and stuck to it. It didn't take itself too seriously and at the core, it definitely kept the elements that make it Ouran.
> For the most part, the acting. Yamamoto Yusuke, Shunsuke Daito and Kawaguchi Haruna (Tamaki, Kyoya and Haruhi) all portrayed their characters wonderfully and were an excellent casting choice.
> The story. Although the story was the same as the anime, there were some elements that were changed. I enjoyed it being different to the anime because it meant I wasn't just watching 11 episodes of the same show over again.
Bad points:
> 11 episodes. I would have preferred a few more episodes, but I'm not going to complain too much. 11 is better then none.
> Some of the special effects. Although used few and far between, some of it seemed a bit too dramatic and over the top.
Overall:
Great series. Highly recommend it for an Ouran fan. Don't know if I'd watch it again any time soon, but it's definitely worth taking the time to sit and watch.

Story: A little different to the anime but only minor changes. Still fun, hilarious, enjoyable and still the same story line.
Acting/Cast: I loved many actors in this dorama before I even saw it (Yamamoto, Daito, Chiba) and then those I didn't know, I loved by the end of it hahah They all did a great job. Hilarious Tamaki, amazingly sexy and mysterious Kyoya, lovable Honey, intriguing Mori and incestuously captivating twins xD
Music: The music is cheery and gets stuck in your head in a good way and it very fairytale like.
ReWatch: Like I said, I'm on my 3rd (I think) viewing of this dorama. LOVE IT! I'll probs watch it again in future xD
The downside? I find Haruhi annoying (and I like the actress!), and I'm upset she used a wig instead of actually getting in character and cutting her hair. Some scenes from the anime were changed in the dorama which made my a little sad e.g. The biscuit twin/Haruhi scene and the lightbulb scene in episode one is slightly different. Not much to say that's bad about it really, just nitpicks xD

As it is a parody (I think) the characters and the events are copy paste from the classic shoujo manga trops that can be found in the genre. However, I did find the acting a bit over the top, as well as the some scenes. But the settings and the clothes seemed quite good and it looked as if the production had really invested in the representation of the Ouran High School.
Overall, the story was cute, although you have to watch the movie to conclude it. The romance was kind of off as well, even though the love triangle was good.
So, five out of ten.

I recently rewatched Hana Kimi and I was trying to fill the void so I decided to watch this again to see if it was really that bad when I first watched it , but this time it was great to watch. (AND because I loved Yusuke's character in Hana Kimi) I appreciated the characters fully and how the actors wasn't afraid to be over exaggerating and completely goof balls. One thing that could be a little different was Haruna. I mean she's pretty and talented in other dramas, but I felt that the role in this drama didn't suit her.
For the plot it was enjoyable and fun to watch. This drama did follow the anime in some episodes, but not all.
Fun fact: Did you know the guy who played Sano's little brother in Hana Kimi is the guy who played Kyoya in this drama? I had no friggin idea. fangirl mode went through the roof.
I just love how in jdrama actors/actresses who worked together in previous works get to work together again. It happens so often and I love it!
