A rich & well written script that accentuate Trust, Faithfulness & Equality.

I'm really 'Impressed' I must say. This piece do have some similarity and shares some aspects with other dramas out there but what made it completely different is the way they handle the story and plot itself.

Honestly, when I started this drama and even during the first half, everything seemed and felt like any other dramas out in the market. However the more you watch it and the moment you get expose to how they are trying to tell the actual 'story' you will immediately realize that they have a concrete plan on how they want to present and show this story to their viewers.

I really wanna commend and thank the Writer, Director and everyone behind the scene for giving this drama an 'Identity' and for showing different aspects of the characters' life progression.

Well of course, I can't deny that this drama wasn't perfect and without any flaws but for some reason all of those were drowned by how splendid they created this drama as a whole.

Hmmm, If I would mention something that made me flinch out of minor ridiculousness and awkwardness is with its sudden time skips that somehow covers a lot of juicy details + those moments when they kill & change important characters in a blink of an eye like it's no ones business.

Overall this Drama satisfies and impresses me a lot in terms of Story progression, Plot, Schemes and Costume (Yass!! The costumes are well coordinated and that made the characters look regal and pleasing to the eye. Talk about BUDGET! Haha~)

Story - 10, I would never have it lesser than that. This drama is definitely not perfect but its imperfection has been its main key in making it valuable and watch worthy.

Cast/Acting - 10, I was worried at first because the Main Leads don't really look extremely handsome and Beautiful but their acting skills filled those holes up and that made me love all of them as a whole. + Their Facial Expression deserves an honorable mention.

Music - 10, I'm extremely satisfied and pleased with all the Music used in this drama. It's actually one of the reason why I enjoyed it so much more than expected.

Rewatch Value - 10, A watch Worthy drama that won't disappoint you no matter how much you watch and recomment it to other people.

Overall - 10, at this point is that even a question? My initial rating for this was 9 but it climbed up steadily and constantly thanks to its impeccable story build up and the actors' hardwork in portraying their respective characters.

Epic and Memorable. To me at least... <3

It's been a few months since I watched this, but my mom just started watching because I've been "bugging" her to and she's now a fan as well. This is easily one of my top ten c-dramas that I've ever watched. For reference, I started watching dramas last year.

Plot:
The story never dragged for me. I was invested all the way through. Yes, I occasionally wanted to slap a few characters but that's par for the course in cdramaland. There were so many twists and turns. Some predictable and some not so much. It was convoluted, but in a good way that had a mostly satisfactory ending.

Acting:
Honestly, I liked everyone and discovered several new actors to follow. They did a great job portraying their characters. No complaints.

What made it one of my top ten and so memorable?
Without giving spoilers...let me just say that the last few scenes played by Leo Luo (Rong Qi) was the most well done and heart-wrenching of it's kind. I can still see it vividly in my mind. This show put him on the map for me. I've seen some of his other work but this one...this was special. After I finished the show, it was in the way-too-early morning and I had tears streaming down my face. It was beautiful. The story, meaning, and acting...all of it.

I will definitely rewatch this in the future. ^_^

Plot wise, this drama did not disappoint. It is intricately built up from the start and I am definitely impressed by the plot twists. This drama really doesn't give any characters room to breathe and nothing is smooth-sailing in this drama. You can never hate any character other than the empress because they only did what they could out of the situation they're in.

Personally they brought up the plot with RQ a little too late!! I wish there were more scenes with him because his acting is just brilliant. At the end of the drama, I have no tears left lmao. Noone prepared my heart for such a cruel plot!!! But fret not, there is no tradgedy tag as you can see so those worrying about it can still watch it!

Acting wise, Leo who acted as RQ was brilliant. He stole my heart and I have never been so heartbroken for a character. His last scene was absolutely magnificent and I loved his chemistry with the FL! Many people mentioned how the ML and FL had little chemistry. I still love how the ML had unwavering loyalty towards the FL! FC was a heartbreaking character too. He didn't know how to love because he was used as a tool all his life. I wish the FL tried to understand him more instead of coldly rejecting him whenever he is good to her.

The music was great as the osts fit the scenes pretty well.

Rewatch value isnt very high because my heart hurts but RQ scenes are definitely on my rewatch plans!!

This drama was executed pretty nicely, tied up all loose ends although there were unnecessary deaths like all chinese historical dramas so its really worth a try!!

Interesting twists in story

Overall, a very good drama with good acting, backdrop and costumes. What I really like about the story is how it depicted different individuals responding to being wronged. The empress sought to destroy, Fu Chou chose to right the wrong, Rong Le chose to sacrifice etc. In some ways it is like the real world with great variability in different personalities. The commentary at the end of the story on how we respond to circumstances is up to us is interesting but so true. There are some interesting twists in the story; a couple was unexpected surprises but a couple was obvious before it was unraveled. The ending is gut wrenching.

The drama has a great start but unfortunately got draggy and slow - I was impatiently waiting for the mystery to unravel. The 58 episodes could easily be shortened by 10 and the faster pace could make it more interesting. As with a lot of Chinese wuxia and fantasy dramas, the medical side of things is obviously fictitious and ridiculous. The romance scenes between Rong Le and Wu You were a little lacking, although the actor and actress were both trying very hard - not quite sure what that is - music? chemistry? I am inclined to think it is the music. Interestingly, I find the scene when Fu Chou saved Rong Le at the river the most romantic, in spite of the numerous save the damsel in distress scenes in the story. Luo Yunxi's acting did not disappoint as usual. He has a nice smile and it would be nice to see him do so more often in other drama characters.

Having watched many Chinese wuxia and fantasy dramas, I see the same themes and tricks used again and again - hair turning white at distress, twin separated at birth to be brought up as enemies - it is getting boring. Hope directors and script writers could come up with something a bit more original and creative, or I may take a break from these dramas.

After almost a week I finally watched all the episodes without fast forwarding other scenes and I can say it's worth my time. The actors, acting, productions, and well-executed fighting scenes are amazing. Plus I am already a fan of Aarif Rahman so obviously I would love the drama even more. I never cried this hard in any drama ever since Princess WeiYoung and Legend Of Yun Xi.

The plot twist was unexpected. It never crossed my mind that they were twin bros. The FL was indeed badass. She outwitted her enemies although sometimes I pitied her coz she always get betrayed by people closest to her. I also love how the three princes would risk their lives for princess Rong Le. They all sacrifices for her. Lucky b##ch! ???? So, to the person who's reading this, heed my word and binge-watch this drama coz it's worth your time.

Memorable and thoughtfully crafted series

Plot: It's quite a complicated and unpredictable storyline which builds from an intriguing start and holds you captive to the very end. A great strength of this drama, is that it explores the motivations of each character with depth, you understand why some characters go to the extremes of revenge, sacrifice and betrayal and what others will do for love - even if it is unrequited. The main typecast villains are able to garner understanding as their descent into tyranny is explained through their past. I didn't expect from the beginning to be drawn in so thoroughly, but I applaud the scriptwriters here in being able to weave a an intricate tale which invites the viewer to untangle through each episode.

Actors: Each and every actor/actress contributed fantastically to their role, I know I was invested in each character and the casting was on point here. The female lead (Sophie Zhang) and male lead (Aarif Rahman) conveyed a couple with refreshing levels of maturity and a really heartfelt journey, from initial misforgivings to deeper acceptance and understanding.
Leo Luo who played the Emperor of Western Qi was absolutely captivating, although he didn't have the most amount of screentime, his scenes were always poignant and memorable, conveying a level of quiet vulnerability and resolve which you can't help but be drawn to.
Jing Chao/Fu Chao was also a standout performer as the General who was antagonistic but a tortured character with multiple facets to his character.

Cinematography: There were so many mesmerising and artistic shots in this film, they made great use of wide shots using drone photography and capturing the grandeur of each different state. Location shots like rivers were the backdrop for an unlikely standoff scene or a snowy forest the scene of desolate despair.

Music: The OST contains many beautifully performed tracks, 2 of which are include vocals from Aarif Rahman who is a great singer . They paired the music appropriately with scenes to create real emotive or tear-jerking scenes. I loved the album and have many of the songs on rotation in my playlist.

Plot goes off the rails midway after a reasonable start. Unexplained characters conveniently dropping in to complicate and move things forward with little rhyme or reason. Characters behave without consistency. Pretty one dimensional female characters (unless you believe that good women only concern themselves with "love" and have no other ethical values and only "evil" women have other motivations) It is the details that make a good drama - and this one fails miserably. Security is good only until the plot demands that it isn't. People are smart until the plot demands that they're not. The characters populating this world seems to be divided between the "I know everything" and "I am so dumb I don't know how to write my name". This is a good example of lazy and/or incompetent writing.

You will only LOVE this drama if you stick it out to the end!

Both Leo Luo, and Jing Chao deserve an award for their acting in this drama. OUTSTANDING ACTORS!

I watched Princess Silver back in May 2021. Princess Silver is how I found out about MyDramaList.com, and is the reason why I created an account. I was so amazed by this drama, especially one person's unconditional love, selflessness, and sacrifice, that I searched for a website that would allow me to write about my opinion of this drama. In most dramas, the screenwriter portrays a very toxic idea of love between the leads, usually, it's not even close to love but rather is normalized mental/emotional abuse. However, in this drama, there is one person who truly loved the female lead, he put his pride aside, he humbled himself, he gave up his life, and he was very patient with her. BTW, the character that I am speaking about you will be able to identify in the last 2 episodes.

To be honest, Princess Silver is a drama that I wanted to drop 3 different times before reaching the end, but I am glad that I did not because in order to understand the beginning and middle, you must watch the end. The end will change your rating of this drama from a 7.0 to a 9.0. I will say for most of the drama, I had second male lead syndrome. I never rooted for the female lead and the male lead romance/relationship. At the end, I had third male lead syndrome lol. There were two things I believe was unnecessary in this drama. One was the second male lead storyline towards the end. It wasn't 100% bad, but it wasn't 100% ideal either. I don't care about happy endings, as long as the story make sense and is realistic. However, the alliance between the first male lead and the second male lead towards the end felt rushed and a bit unrealistic. The second unnecessity is the additional 4 episodes, as I think Princess Silver could have had 54 episodes instead of 58. It def. would have increased my rating from a 9.5 to a 10.

It is now August 2021, and I decided to rewatch this drama for the second time, solely to watch the love between the female lead and the character that I mentioned above.

POV

I saw the trailer for this drama while searching for a strong FL princess Drama.
As I liked the trailer and started watching was skeptical about how it would be, however, it turned out to be good more than expected.

It has the good twists and turns of a romance drama that one can look for Fl is not naive and waiting for a rescue, she can take matters into her hands. I like all the leads in ML and SML as well. Love the way love is portrayed by the 3 ML in their own way like the acting of "Jing Chao" and "Luo Yun Xi".
This was the first drama I saw "Luo Yun Xi", However, I became his Fan after watching "Ashes of Love".

Overall it is a Good watch if you like strong FL with loads of twists and turns in a drama.

Brother, she is mine, not yours

The cast is good.

This is drama is about revenge. The evil queen uses her Rong Qi (Leo Luo), his girlfriend, Princess Rong Le, Fu Chou, Wu You (Aarif Rahman) and others as chess pieces to take revenge on Wu You’s father. Her plot and strategy well thought out and she is quite manipulative. The story goes somewhat south. What better way to defeat an opponent by snatching the love of his life a way from him and making him scum to you, his victor.

The put off is that the king did not need to die nor did Fu Chou’s girl. The story dragged, not good.

I have to say that Rong Qi played by Leo Luo puts a different spin on I will sacrifice everything for my love, he surely did, even his life.

The clothing and scenery was quite nice.

Plot twists and repetitive betrayals

Completed - 12/8/2021

Princess Silver is a lot more complicated than what the synopsis said. It also doesn't seem to be a highly recommended drama. It's not a bad drama, esp. if you enjoy revenge and betrayal plots. However, it's not a perfect drama as the pacing is a little uneven, and there are some weird illogical scene inconsistencies. I was thoroughly enjoying this drama in the first 25 episodes . But at 58 episodes, I think it's longer than it should be (which is quite common in Chinese historical drama). The sets and costumes are nice and elaborate. Girls look beautiful and Guys look handsome. Overall acting of the cast is pretty good as well.

This drama has a very romance-focused plot and all the "excitement" is because of these romances.

1) Rong Le/Man nYao (FL) + Prince Li (ML)
This is the lovely main couple. They love each other so much that they would suffer and die for each other. After the initial "surprise", they never doubt each other's love. However, I personally am not feeling the passion. I actually think our FL has the least chemistry with ML out of the other male leads. I am not sure if it's because I don't find Aarif Rahman very attractive, thus, affecting my perception of his acting/love for FL. Towards the second half of the show, I find it difficult to recall scenes in the first half that would justify his selfless actions.

2) Rong Le (FL) + General Fu Chou (2ML)
I find the chemistry between them the best, even though FL doesn't like 2ML. However, Jing Chao as our 2ML is such a good actor. I am so glad I got to know him here. In the bath tub scene, his acting was SOO good. I cried for him. It was so heartbreaking when he discovered who was in the bath tub and his eyes are full of emotions - or hard to control emotions. There are other monologues that he's done that were so heartbreakingly sad. The rare quiet times that FL and 2M spent together eating dumplings and watching fireworks, were my favorite scenes of theirs. Even when they were fighting, there's so much more chemistry.

3) Rong Le (FL) + Rong Qi (3ML)
If you are watching this drama because of Leo Luo, you might be disappointed. I would not classify him as a main lead, but more in a supporting role. He doesn't really have that many scenes in this drama. However, when he's there, you can see the usual Leo Luo elegance and sadness. This romance was sweet and sad at the same time. Rong Qi has to be the saddest character in this whole drama. However, I do find the love/hate relationship between the 'siblings' a little too repetitive. I would have loved the drama to spend more time showing us their earlier relationship and not wait till the end of the drama.

Other Observations;
1. Leo Luo is the only lead that uses his real voice.
2. Nice sets and costumes - but I find the clothes too big on the actors, esp. male actors.
3. Many pretty ladies in this drama!
4. There aren't too many fight scenes, but the choreography is quite good.
5. How come Prince Li can touch women all of the sudden, even when he's not in love with them?
6. FL's amnesia lasts a VERY long time - too long for my taste.
7. Abrupt scene changes
8. After watching "Sweet Teeth" I can't help but focus on the actors' teeth and find FL's crooked teeth a little distracting. LOL ?
9. Most characters are pretty smart. There isn't any dumb, annoying character in this drama.
