With a majority of dramas, you can classify them into romance, comedy, mystery, crime, or a drama drama, those tearjerkers. With Rooftop Prince, it's really hard to classify what type it is (besides romance, obviously) because there are so many genres attached to it. At first it's comedic and you're laughing your butt off at everything that happens, then it slowly progresses into a cute romance that will make you laugh and cry, then it progresses again into a different style - crime solving. It ends well (as there are many endings that can completely ruin a drama) and the writers did a good job wrapping it up. It sticks with the reality of the drama but ends it so that it is neither heartbreaking nor happily ever after.
Overall this drama keeps you going. You're not sure if the next episode is going to be hilarious or tear-jerking and you're not sure what to expect. The story plot was fairly original, making time travelling their own thing, and the cast did pretty well. The music wasn't too memorable but it adds to the piece and makes it whole.
Definitely one of the better dramas this year and well worth a rewatch sometime in the future. If you're considering a drama that adds in all elements, this is a good one to watch first. =D

It has a lot of the elements of a normal Korean drama, which i've grown to love. I like the mix of scenes of Joseon Korean and Modern Korea. I loved the heroin and the main guy. I didn't tire of either of their personalities. I also liked that their personalities were consistent. I find a lot dramas in which the person after the romance is a complete 360 from the character's personality before they fell in love. This was not the case in Rooftop Prince.
This drama was absolutely hilarious. Definitely one of the funniest dramas I've ever seen. Especially in the beginning of the drama.
The ending of a drama usually gives a final impression, and oftentimes makes or breaks my opinion of a drama. I'd say it accounts for 1/4 of my overall opinion for a drama. The ending of this drama, I think, really added to the drama. It was, in my opinion, original and refreshing. Although, I haven't decided if I like the ending, per say, but It was memorable. I still think about it, because I feel that the ending was very interesting.
Finally, the music in this drama was also really memorable. When I heard the song "Hurt" by Ali I was like, "Woah, her voice is amazing." I don't know what it is but I'm really drawn to her voice. And I usually like men's singing. There were other really good songs too. It is one of the few OSTs that I've ever downloaded.

Story : So Before being like some people I know and casting stone at me , for my rating of this drama, I would like to say that my rating are solemnly base on ep 1-3 and 16-20 because I find the beginning really interesting until ep 3 , then I found the story a little redundant, and then I felt that it picked up again at ep 16. The premise for the story is good it's has already been done but the director here and the writers were a little better than what I have already seen of this particular premise.
Acting: I would really like to say that I really liked the way every actor portrayed his or her characters, because all along they made me feel the right reaction toward their characters, I hated the one that were supposed to be hateful and liked the one that were supposes to be like. So if anything need to be applaud in this drama it's the acting.
Music: The music for me got a 10 not because it's was so good ,but because I find that however made the dramas cut , got the music right, they played the right songs at the right places , and the music really suited the story that the drama was telling.
Rewatch: Well I may say that know that I know how it end , I may now go back and really watch it with more attention.

From the storyline to the photoshoot, everything was very good. The OST is amazing, and how could mention the acting skills of the actors and actresses that play the main roles?
I already knew Lee Tae Sung from Playful Kiss and since then I just thought that he should play a villain, I thought about that for so many time and then it came... Rooftop Prince granted my wish (hehe) and I need to say that Lee Tae Sung is as good as I thought he would be in this kind of role, actually a little more better than that.
I've being planning to watch Park Yoo Chun acting since his first role, but I never did so I didn't know what to expect about him as an actor, but I need to say that it was great. I like Park Yoon Chun very much as a singer and a dancer, but I need to admit that he is way better as an actor, he surprised me, a very good surprise actually.
Han Ji Min was brilliant, about her... I really don't know how to describe it.
I first saw Jang Yoo Mi in the Jay Park MV and she end up being a good actress I don't know about her career, but I want to see her playing more good roles.
Jung Suk Won also were very good here I want to see him again. hehe
From the first second to its very end Rooftop Prince is an amazing drama, it has both comedy and touching moments. This drama is one of my favorites and there is no doubt about that. It's not because it has Yoon Chun, not because it has Tae Sung, Han Ji Min or Yoo Mi in it, but because it really is a Masterpiece, everything in this drama fits almost perfectly, everything happens at the right time, the collaboration between the team behind the cameras seems to be amazing and it reflects in the drama itself.
I highly recommend this drama, for the drama addicted I say that this drama need to be watched it is a wonderful drama in every single aspect.

Anyways, i think that this drama overall is one of the better ones in 2012, and it was drowned out with bad luck, because well, about 10 other dramas with the same genre came out that year. But Rooftop Prince was the first one of 2012 to come up with a time-travelling comedy-romance-mystery genre. The writing was fairly good and unique, with all the ancient riddles and things like that.
Rooftop Prince is also HILARIOUS. I mean if you put a bunch of saeguk palace men into the year 2012, the comedy and totally hilarious moments are just expected. The characters were all so lovable (at least the protagonists) but on the other hand, the antagonists are the exact opposite 180 degrees like, oh man. Though the antagonists can be freaking crazy bitches do not be discouraged because trust me, the drama really satisfies the audience. The drama has a balance of funny and serious, which is one thing i really like about this drama.
I like that there is no bad and stiff acting because that's what i hate the most. All the characters are portrayed very well and it's a nice transformation for Yoochun from Sungkyunkwan Scandal to this. He was so cute and his three other followers were adorkable as well :3
Han Ji Min(Park Ha) pulled it off pretty well too, her acting was definitely not bad, but not extremely amazing. The main bad bitch on the other hand(Sena), i have to give it up for her she was amazing even if i hated her so much (probably the most i've ever hated an antagonist in a drama)
The music is pretty fulfilling, because i'm assuming that a lot of kdrama watchers like kpop, and Jay Park sings an OST here that is used a lot. Baek Ji Young also sang a really nice song for the OST and i wish Yoochun did a male version of it too haha
If you are looking for a drama that is romantic, cute, and extremely hilarious, then i recommend this to you. It even has a mystery added onto it that will keep you at the edge of your toes :o Mind that this drama has a makjang side to it i personally don't mind it, but others do. This drama gets REALLY addicting. I warned you.

I was absolutely wrong. It is THE best drama I've ever seen and I've been watching for a few years. It's the FIRST drama I've actually had the courage to write a review on. You won't regret watching this! It's so wonderful! Hilarious, heartbreaking, and romantic all in one!

Recently, there were several dramas about time travel and I think this one is better among the other ( haven't watch " Faith" yet).
Two thumbs up!
