Rooftop Prince promises a new breed of storyline, which it manages to pull-off until the end. Rooftop Prince started kinda slow for me, but it finally started to get its business going upon reaching Episode 7, from which, it manages to make the best roller coaster ride until the finale. Though it kinda felt that the last episodes were rushed, the last few episodes won't fail to surprise the drama fans in us.
It's a good thing, RP is a story-driven drama. It does not care if a well-loved character must die, as long as it fits perfectly to the story.
Acting/Cast
The whole cast was phenomenal. The villains are wickedly evil and keeps getting evil as the story progresses. At first, I see no chemistry for the 2 main leads, which actually bothered me from the start. But as their love story unfolds, loving them is not an option anymore.
Music- The music was good.Though, there were some scenes that could have used some music, but all you hear is NOTHING. Still, Rooftop Prince's music is sure to be a song in everyone's ear.
Rewatch Value- After watching the finale, I don't think I would be able to see it again. One of the reasons why I watch the next episode of this drama is because of the cliffhangers and the different mysteries it post at the end of each episode. Upon figuring out everything, there is no reason to rewatch anything. Besides, there are more scenes that are heart breaking than heart-tickling.

The side characters are all enjoyable, and I feel like there's a good balance of serious and sad and goofy and romance. Especially since: how else is a prince from the past supposed to act? It's just great~
Definitely recommend if you want a time-travel, goofy show to watch that will make you laugh, cry, and giggle~

I think this drama is the perfect mix of hilarious (the elevator scene is EPIC), romantic and thrilling elements. The acting are good: Park Yoo Chun is one of the few idol whose acting skills improve drama by drama. His chemistry with Han Ji Min is excellent.
A special mention goes also to the OST, in particular to the songs "Happy Ending" by Jay Park and "Hurt" by Ali.

How the fuck am I late to watch this series? It's been 7 years since this drama ended and I only watched it this 2019? The series was totally great, the first episode was a good start on how the series continues until it progresses throughout. It was mixed emotions for me since there are parts that you'll laugh, cry, and sometimes anger on how those antagonist portrayed their character and how the story flows. Throughout the series you'll solve the mystery on how the girl really died. Finally, the ending! It was a perfect ending. One of the best kdramas that has the best ending so far. I finally got around to watching it and I can honestly say that it is now in my top 3 favorite dramas. I was incredibly impressed with the story and how they chose to end it because it was something you could accept.
There were perhaps two or three episodes, mostly in the beginning and middle, that seemed to drag on a bit and I found myself skipping through some parts. But they weren't so major that it took away from my overall interest in the drama. I finished it in about three days and I'm glad I gave it a chance.
I can't even begin to tell you how much I love the music! I love love love how the songs just perfectly match the mood the drama is trying to portray. True tears were shed for this drama, perhaps even sobbing and ugly sounds were made towards the end.
The acting was great in my opinion. While there were a few times where I felt like Han Ji Min laughed a little too hard for it to be believable, it was easy to overlook and it didn't happen too often or so much to take away from the drama. The little prince sidekicks were awesome and I just fell in love with the trio.
I'm not one to re-watch dramas and I can't say that I plan to re-watch this for awhile, but I definitely think it's on that list of dramas that if you were the type to go back re-watch your favorites, it would be towards the top of that list.
I recommend watching this drama because it was touching and hilarious without being overly embarrassing or completely depressing which some dramas seem to have trouble finding the balance between.

This drama has everything:romance, historical parts that are well combined with present,comedy-oh yes, you're going to laugh a lot,suspense,crime...just everything.
The acting was very well executed.I was really surprised by Lee Tae Sung who portrayed a villain(he was great) and I watched him in Playful kiss where he was just the opposite.
Every episode was interesting, never boring so you might wanna watch this drama again :)
Main characters had such a great chemistry so they were really lovable.
The first episode was kinda slow but once you move on to the second you're going to be hooked!
If you haven't watch this drama you definitely should!

Story- It took a couple of episodes before I became interested in it. I liked the comedy and felt the plot started to get really interesting towards the latter half. I didn’t like the ending it just wasn’t my type of ending. It just left me with a bitter taste.
Acting/Cast- The acting by Han Ji Min was flawless and she delivered many powerful scenes. Yu Chun really impressed me with his acting. With that being said, I think the casting for these 2 leads could have been better. They didn’t have any chemistry, which totally put a damper on the romance. It wasn’t believable to me. One of them needed to be replaced in my opinion. As for the actors that played our villains Tae Mu & Sena, they did a fantastic job! Their characters were scary but needed. I liked the rest of the supporting cast a lot.
Music- Lovely and powerful in the emotional scenes and when the scene was funny it matched well. I liked the OST for the drama but its not something ill remember outside of watching it.
Rewatch- I wont be watching it again just because the OTP couple didn’t have any chemistry and I wasn’t satisfied by the ending. Although Im sure many others who liked it might find it rewatchable.
Overall Rooftop Prince is hilarious and moving but I think casting of leads who had chemistry would had made this drama a lot more enjoyable and memorable.

I started watching Rooftop Prince because of all the positive reviews. Although I didn't necessarily like Micky Yoochun in ''Sunkyunkwan Scandal'', he was rather boring to my opinion. (Apart from the two brilliant supporting characters I didn't think that series to be outstanding anyway.) Although the poster too looked horribly idiotic to me, I had been enjoying ''Queen In Hyun's Man'' (though it's not special, just enjoyable) and felt like watching something alike. So I gave in.
After forcing myself through 4 episodes however, I kept telling myself it would get better, I cannot bear with it any longer... I really, really don't understand why this gets an 8.52 rating. (at least at this time) This series is highly overrated.
The story starts of well.
The Joseon story: though a bit annoyingly predictable at first, still forgivable, this story eventually got me interested and made me really curious. This is because at that point you know almost nothing about the characters and their relationships, and you cannot predict why and by who the princess is killed.
The 21st century story: It starts of interestingly. Although I hate how the villain characters are portrayed from early on. (I don't want to vex myself over things like that yet again. I'm tired of it. Most series were dropping these annoying types of villains, but why did this drama revive them?? I do not know.)
The part in New York is very daring and I appreciate that, it was a nice unpredictable change. Though not as great as to really grab my attention.
The worst part starts after the time-leap. After having watched 10 episodes of ''Queen In Hyun's Man'' the perplexed emotions of culture shock I missed a bit in that series were filled up ten times by the exaggeration in this script and it's acting.
The 4 time travelers, though it is funny, I admit I laughed, seem so dumb. It's very unbelievable and implausible. In Joseon they seemed pretty smart and decent, but after arriving in the 21st century they suddenly lack common sense. They just don't seem to get that the customs 300 years later have changed and that the crown prince is not known as the crown prince there.
The female lead was a bit too rude towards him, although the crown prince lacked sense, she could still treat him with some respect as she does with the other character, but why doesn't she?
Another thing about the female lead. Especially at the beginning she turned out to be one of those main leads that make you feel bad about yourself, although you have absolutely no reason to because you have nothing at all to do with it. After a while it gets better though.
Her sister's reason for playing a villain was not strong enough, I can imagine what her reason might be for acting so cold, but it just isn't a reason anyone would go that far for...
The humor in this series is the vicarious shame kind. Kdramas have this quite a lot. I personally don’t like vicarious shame humor, and this was one of the worse sort. I had to cover the screen with my hands while screaming in agony. Some find it cute, others will cry.
The music didn’t grab my attention. I can’t remember what it sounds like, though I heard it less than an hour ago… I’m sure it wasn’t too bad though, since it didn’t annoy me either.
The “Time Leap Shock” acting is exaggerated, the main actress cannot act when talking English, but apart from that it’s alright.
The script that made the characters exaggerate this much was ridiculous.
I’m sure Micky Yoochun has no pride, I wouldn’t be able to act his role. (not that I’d EVER want to) He should be admired for that, not getting fed up with all that folly and all. Though bringing us some great parts, the beginning for instance, most of it was ridiculous. The story didn't succeed in making me curious or excited. Although the real story probably started after episode 4, I doubt it'll change my opinion favorably.
I wouldn’t put myself through this again, so that much of a rewatch value it doesn’t have. But who knows, maybe I’ll feel masochistic enough someday to continue watching this?
I tend to exaggerate sometimes, but I also tend to be soft on ratings. That may be why my ratings may differ a bit from my words.
I also think a lot of people will like this, but this series was definitely not meant for me. And Though I’ll keep some thoughts to myself as I would rather not experience fangirlrevenge, I cannot call this series good. I won't call it bad either though, it's just highly overrated. It lacks a lot of things, is too exaggerated, but if you like vicarious shame: go ahead, this series might be meant for you.

The story was original although it had some mainstream components in it, and overall the plot was entertaining and well written. However it did have a few plot-holes. During most of the story I felt that the problems got resolved reasonably quickly and its developed and fast paced plot kept me engaged throughout Rooftop Prince. The female lead's character was one I had sympathy for but her personality after all the crap she had been through was surprising and inspiring. At times I would be begging her to be smarter and would get frustrated at her inability to escape the villains traps. But a drama's never good if it doesn't make the viewer anxious..! But as dumb as she could be her fights, anger, happiness were all cute especially with the male lead who had a charm of his own. I was a bit confused by the end and I felt it would have been better if they had left out the last bit of the last episode. More realistic!
Acting was good but the Emperors trio(Jung Suk-won, Choi Woo-shik, Lee Min-ho) were definitely my favourites!! ~HILARIOUS!!
Music was alright, catchy but nothing special.
Overall this drama is a must watch with all the components of a good drama... So watch it !! :)

I was watching King 2 Hearts and Rooftop Prince at the same time and I wad debating on which show I should do a review for and I ended up choosing Rooftop Prince since I just felt more things while watching it, though story wise and all of that King 2 Hearts is a bit better.
King 2 Hearts wasn't originally on my watch-list, because I thought it would be way too political for me but the cast won me over and I actually found the story intriguing. This drama on the other hand was on my to-watch-list ever since I saw the trailer and the poster for it, because it looked like it was going to be a hoot and it was.
I just knew this show would make me laugh and the trailer just gave of this really nice feeling and I just sort of knew that I would end up liking it. One of the best things about this drama is the humour of the show and the setting of it, since you can make so many jokes and funny scenes with people who come into the 21st century from the past. That really is the charm of the show, as well as the cute characters.
There were a lot of things that you just knew Rooftop Prince would make a joke out of, like the toilet and the spotlights and all of that, but they also just used so many other jokes that you sort of only notice if you have watched some period dramas (I think) or know even just a bit about it, like how the talked, and so on,and I just found that so well done. It had be rolling on the floor with laughter.
Rooftop Prince really made my weeks a bit brighter and I just want to thank it for that, in a way. The main couple was also very cute and shippable. The main story could have been a bit better though. The Joseon mystery was such an interesting set-up but I feel like it sort of fell flat and it got a bit dragged out or something.
The story about the family and the company and Tae Moo and Se Na and their whole revenge thing or whatever that was about was so badly done and some of it was such a filler and it got a bit annoying from time to time. I didn’t really care and it was quite dull and not that original imho so that makes me lower my praises for this drama a lot, even if I enjoyed it for the most part or pieces of it.
In King 2 Hearts for example I liked the politics a lot, probably because a lot it was about that and also because it was written well into the story and it sort of made sense (at least to me) but this company, family stuff just bored me to death, because a lot of it was just a filler and to make a bit more conflict in the story. It was sometimes cute but that was about it.
I did however like how the story dealt with the reincarnation and all of that stuff and I found that to be quite interesting, like you become thing type of person because you did this and that in your past life and all of that. And I felt like it was used quite well with tying up the story.
So yeah, like I said, the main charm of the drama was the comedy and the rom-com elements of it, since I enjoyed the main couple a lot. The OT5 was super cute together and I sort of could just watch a drama about them all learning how to fit into the 21st century and all of that. I could take 20 episode of that kind of cuteness, even if it would have been a total fluff or even more of a fluff than it already is.
So the entertainment factor of the drama was totally there for me, as I sort of expected but I did not think I would get as emotionally connected to the story and the characters as I ended up doing. I didn’t just find it funny and cute and I didn’t just laugh over it. I also cried so much towards the end of it and that is what I look for in anything. Make me care show and preferably, make me care so much that I will cry. I am a sucker for those kinds of things.

The cast, in every aspect was unforgettable. I felt so much for our secondary characters; The heart break and the good times. I even thought I felt a little bit for the evil duo. They're all EXCELLENT at what they do and sold us the story. Perfectly. Oh & the soundtrack is one of the best of the year, been on repeat all week tbqh. Good going drama, now I'm going to hold every drama this year up to your standards.
