I’m disappointed. And annoyed.

The tense, the murder case, the characters, specially students in the school – were interesting and captivating. But solving the case, the detective work, the prosecutor work - were weak. The teachers keep finding clues by chance, without meticulous investigation, and there is no a strong turning point in the story or the moment of suspense. The pace is slow, I mean, the pace of investigation. Surprisingly the most coherent and fine parts of drama were school scenes with young actors.
The motive of temporary teacher (played by Yoon Gyun Sang) was important in the beginning, but later the writer didn’t have the concept of this any more. Unfortunately some of great and interesting characters in the drama were dead (I hope it isn’t a spoiler:) and protagonists who were alive – they were somehow flat. And I'm even not going to mention about the ending...
And my biggest problem with this crime drama: I feel the characters are created in a wrong way. Their actions don’t seem real. The psychology of characters is simple and unconvincing. And the actors acting is proportional to the script: average, average, average.
But the music was good.

So, there are some great scenes, with genius directing and filming (if you have seen the scene in the high-rise building, you know what I'm talking about), but it is not enough to enjoy this crime drama.

8.6? 8.9?

the story was great but there was something missing.. the process was really lacking, it didn't need 16 eps.. like the overall main mystery happens in the first 2 eps and is resolved in the last 2.5 eps.. though the side plots were not bad, I enjoyed a few and they made the younger side characters shine...
but tbh I wasn't focusing most of the time, and some things went by without even leaving an impression on me. like I didn't focus on the older cast, specifically the parents and that prosecutor who was so cold she was emotionless..

also, I felt like they over complicated things, like they didn't really have a "is he the killer or is she the killer" moments -they didn't have too many (or any) solid suspects- but then again, how did it take them so long to think "aha, this might be the killer"...
and those 3 always had their brain storming sessions, but like the mystery wasn't that complicated, I honestly don't know what they wasted their time on...

I don't know, I've been in a crime/thriller slump lately. all writers think they are too smart, and some make me believe it for a while, but then I'm not fully engaged with the story.. though I really enjoyed the ending, it had a balance between open ending and conclusion..
overall I liked the "main" actors, I'll keep my eye on them.. also the ost was nice...

my rewatch values are either a 1 or a 10 so ;)

the drama started so well with interesting crime and i think making it so obvious and make us search for the killer with the lead was a big plus to enjoy the show, the characters of the 4 main kids on school was all different and interesting and tbh the best thing on the drama was those kids and their acting what make me enjoy the show! and give it high rate they are the discover especially Beom Jin. i hoped the writer will focus on their stories more.

however around the late half the writer get lost and change all what he build and give us a lot of the adult unnecessary scenes and not to talk about the annoying female teacher her character was just pain and stupid from the start to the end. if they cut her down the drama would be better.
i loved the male character but the sudden move from going with facts to take the lead guesses as evidence what kill the drama. like how he suddenly focus that xx is the killer and start to make image to it and it fit well!! and yes that's it. like what?!!! just because his character fit well nothing more that strong.
and what with the ending!! are this really ending ?? i don't know what the point of that.

what make me give it high rate like what i said before the start, the 4 evil kids and Yoon Gyun Sang. it wasn't boring and it drag me to the end even though they end it poorly.

class of lies was lit

Honestly, this entire drama felt like a good fever dream. That probably doesn't make any sense, but it was complete and it was interesting the whole way through. I have to applaud Yoo Beom Jin's actor because his acting was so amazing. In general, the crime aspect was well done and the watchers are able to guess along with the characters. There are a lot of details and the direction of the drama is unpredictable. This made it exciting, but you have to pay attention or you might miss something. This problem could only be for me, but the subtitles in this drama were so bad. I watched this on Dramacool, so it might be different for you. The subtitles were inconsistent and even some of the nicknames the characters were given changes between episodes which gets confusing. Another thing is that the episode lapping is quite large (the end of the previous episode as the beginning of the new episode). I would say almost 5 minutes is lapped. Sure, you could skip it, but in some cases, new details and clues are brought up. This was a small issue though, and it's useful if you space out your episodes (I binged, so it got a little annoying).

I will say it's hard for the characters to grow on you or to develop a favourite character. This factor is important for me when watching a drama, so that's one of the reasons why I only gave it an 8.5. The only character that grew on me was Lee Gi Hoon and he didn't have many scenes....

This drama's music will always be superior. A lot of the music they used was rap. I thought that this was fun since normally the OSTs would be soft singing or something along those lines. Plus, the BGM they used when the attorneys and rich people were talking made it feel like they were gonna square up.

add Class of Lies to your watchlist right now!

Overall, it's a solid story - but the ending was way too rushed. The last 30 minutes was just...boring??

The cast itself is fantastic though, Jun did amazingly with his acting and the fact that hes an idol actor yet did this well astounds me.

I'd say the first 10 episodes were fantastic, but the last couple of episodes were way too slow in terms of development - and the ending shouldn't have been YBJ getting killed...bit rushed??

The OST is great, the plot overall is okay - despite there being a few slow parts & the acting team were ace.

I recommend you watch it, but be prepared for an underwhelming ending.

worth watching

the storyline was interesting especially in the beginning where keeps me going and curious what actually happen. I was also shooketh over the problematic students like daaaamn, its horrible. The acting was quite good, every cast suits the the characters. However, it was a little bit draggy in the middle making it a little bit boring. And the solving the case part was somewhat missing, most of the things are just not enough. I wish they could give more tense and thrill instead with more twists too. The ending was okay. All in all, I like it and I think it's worth watching.

Great ending, would reccomend!

Personally, when I read reviews, I want to know if the show had a good ending or not. I have had too many shows that were good throughout but had a bad/unsatisfactory ending.

This show had a very satisfying ending. I haven't had such a good ending in a while. Obviously, I would want more episodes, but with the ending, it doesn't matter as much.

Some great OSTs, They did a good job with Rap OST, as a lot of dramas can't pull that off well.

If you come into this drama, thinking it would be like one of the School 20s, you won't find what you would expect. Nonetheless, this show will pull you in.

Overall, Great show, probably in my top 5

If had to recommend shows like this, Solomon's Perjury sounds like it has nearly the same the synopsis, except no attorney is in the show.

this is my first kdrama and im glad i find this one since im a dorama lover esp. crime, thriller and investigation genre and i could say this one has a great story and i recommended this if you also love this kind of genre. the twist is really good every episode has new revelation and the battle of wits remind me of death note and liar game .

acting is great for some actors like yoo beom jin but the actor of kim han soo makes me cringe. and his role makes stupid decision all the time.

music is really great makes every moment intense and sending a message "this one has a serious battle of wits"

rewatch value: if you miss something or dont have any drama on your watchlist.

In general, this drama was pretty solid. The acting was relatively good and there was a good character development throughout the drama. I really enjoyed the unravelling of the secrets of each of the characters and the dark side of the seemingly perfect Yoo Beom Jin.
The drama is quite slow paced and I personally don't mind that HOWEVER the ending I found extremely confusing and lacking. There is no explanation in regards to Yoo Beom Jin's death(?) and the explanation for the actual crime considering it was so complicated was just not enough.
The court scenes also seemed a bit strange to me and obviously I don't know how the justice system works in Korea but I was surprised when Yoo Beom Jin started yelling and ranting when he was on the witness stand (I thought they are only required to speak if they are asked a question).
I wouldn't recommend this drama for people who really value the endings because the last episode of this drama was quite inadequate in my opinion. However, saying that it was a pretty enjoyable drama overall with an interesting storyline.

Captivating and a complete addiction from start to finished. I was engrossed to the story till the end. I was glad I didn't watched it when it's airing and completed this drama in 4 days. This is how you create a thriller and create tension, complete with fascinating character. The investigation, while there is alot, only functional to take forward the plot and not dominating the story to the point make the story becoming dull and still giving room to each character. THe main of the attaraction is the character, the environment they face, and the tension. This drama will be awsome if it's more than 16 episode and take emotional depth of each character and unfold the conflict more engaging,, because there is too many interesting character and conflict they represent that will be awsome if it's more flash out. . despite of the conclusion the drama has, which unsatisfying for me, The journey is worth the watch.

ANd there is just some Promising young actor here who I wish will get the limelight to star in Leading Roles soon! Hopefully they will starring in even more interesting project.

WATCH IF YOU LIKE THRILLER/CRIME/MYSTERY DRAMAS!

This was one of my first kdramas and I loved it! Many of the characters made me mad, but that's good acting I guess :D It is pretty mysterious and I had fun trying to figure out who the killer was. If you liked this drama I recommend for you to watch 365 Repeat the Year, Extracurricular, and Solomon's Perjury (those kdramas have a similar concept). Anyways, go watch it if you're contemplating about it!

I need 500 characters so: watch this drama. watch this drama. watch this drama. watch this drama. watch this drama. watch this drama. watch this drama. watch this drama. watch this drama. watch this drama. watch this drama. watch this drama. watch this drama.

The casting are good but the storyline was kinda messed

Honestly speaking, the episode 1 is too tiring to watch. I'd dropped it before but after few months I decided to give it another try. The storyline is actually pretty good but I can't say it's the best.

First episodes might be too boring for me, but the middle part hooked me up, it was intense but my expectations on the last part turned out to be a dissapointment. The flow of the story, the reasons, the ways and the investigations are too shallow. The ending looks like it was rushed. I had a goosebumps in the middle part of it and I was intensed that I kept on binge-watching but I must say that the ending was lacking.

I like the characters, I like the simple cinematography, the locations are fine. Actually there's no need to make it aesthetically pleasing since the genre doesn't supposed to have it. The characters suitly fine to them and I have no problem on it.

I only found that there's something "lacking" on the story, it's a bit messy and some episodes doesn't have sense at all. But still, it's overall good.

The ending was so rushed, I don't know if it was a cliffhanger or what but it annoyed me because my expectation to this series is high. Overall, I think it's a good and recommended drama as well but never expect too high.
