Ridiculous but funny
you know when some random ideas pop up in your mind and you decide to make a sci-fi comedy out of it, that's exactly what "the night of the undead" is.A man cheating on his wife is actually an alien who doesn't know where to spend his extra energy on but women. His wife suspected him so she hired a private detective who happens to know a lot about aliens' existence on earth. Two of her friends give a hand with getting rid of him because one might have killed her cheating husband before and the other was just there! Sounds absurd, right?
The writer doesn't invest the least effort to justify anything or to build characters properly. There's even a scene that plays at the end credits, which is supposed to offer a plot twist but is too overused to cause any surprise, again proves that he puts in whatever comes to his mind lol. So the deal is to just dump your brain and watch carefree.
Having said that, the movie wasn't actually that terrible! It's watchable since its main purpose is to crack some laughs. I actually enjoyed some parts & wacky moments, especially in the second half where some suspense and comedy take place. Among characters, I liked "Broccoli" ( the detective) the most; the way he talks and his unlucky existence through the movie is quite hilarious. Honestly, just watching three women fighting together against a half-man/half-alien was satisfying and fun :D
So if you are just looking for something funny to pass time, give this a try!

"Which elementary school did you go to?"
The Night of the Undead had zero zombies in it if that’s what you are looking for. Without giving away any plot points, the title refers to a dark night with aliens and humans who all seemed very difficult to kill. The movie was far more comedic than frightening. So Hee is living a great life. She resides in a huge apartment and has a gorgeous husband who cooks her breakfast every morning. When Man Gil’s late nights at work and disturbing text messages pique her curiosity, she goes to The Mystery Research Lab. Broccoli, the man in charge of the shabby agency, follows her husband and brings back a disturbing report. Man Gil is not only a philandering husband, he’s also an alien. When her loving hubby attempts to murder her, So Hee calls upon Broccoli and her friends Sera and Yang Sun to help her put a permanent stop to his lethal ways. Killing a murderous alien was harder than it looked as he was nigh on indestructible. He also had his own crew of indestructo buddies. The Korean version of Men in Black were also hunting down the unbreakable Choi Man Gil. It might take a combination of the Earthly forces and a bizarre feline concoction to save the planet.
The film ran too long, it would have benefited from a 90 minutes running time. Some comic schticks were beaten dry of any humor from situations. Having said that there were genuinely funny moments. If you were needing something suspenseful, look elsewhere. Due to the comedic nature of the film, the grim happenings couldn’t be taken too seriously. The story had serious plot holes and implausible elements which were difficult to overcome. This was also one of those films that only had enough money to pay for the rights to one song---Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy played several times.
It’s rare for a sismance to take center stage in a movie, but So Hee, Sera, and Yang Sun banded together despite their differences in the past. And any woman would be lucky to have a friend willing to take a cleaver to her psychotic alien husband bent on exterminating humans and taking over the world. Night of the Undead may have been a deeply flawed film but it had some entertaining moments.

Very Weird
This movie was all over the place. Plot-wise it was really like the director would ask himself "What else can i add to this movie?" and proceeded with the first thing that came to his mind. Like what was it with the secret organization? They barely played any significant role there!About the characters: Broccoli and Mushroom all the way lol. And I also liked the sismance of the three women. One thing that was really bugging me was that Broccoli (can't remeber his real name, sorry) had really curly hair/wig. And one time he got kicked out of some club and thrown onto a poster with black man with dreadlocks. What was that?! Some badly disguised racism or what? It felt so unnecessary for the scene to be there.
the second half of the movie was better than the first one, as more crazy things were happening and it was just more funny overall with more screaming, running around etc.
I don't think that it's a horror as MDL states, I'm usually such a scaredy cat but I wasn't scared at all during this movie. Maybe because it's pg13 lol. This reminds me there are two scenes when the ML is completely naked and forwards facing but on Viki everything is blurred out and censored so you don't need to worry if you're watching it there. not sure about other video services though.
One last thing, what was the scene at the end? It didn't make any sense at all, it was there to just shock the viewers.

A nugget of funniness
I saw Kim Sung Oh (Man Gil in this movie) on the cover shot for this filmand remembered him in Korean Odyssey. I thought, "I want to see this" and I'm happy I did! Very interesting and funny movie! I was not bored nor could I predict anything that was going to happen? XD very complete storyline/plot, you definitely have to watch it to the very end! Thanks!!Was this review helpful to you?
Until Death Do They Part
It’s what I expected, but still different. The usage of music in this is fantastic. Some chase scenes just hysterical. There were so many twists and turns. The casting was well done. From the mains to the support. Though some of the secondary supports are hardly seen at all. It’s almost like they’re filler characters with a few more lines than usual.
At the beginning it’s what one might expect then it takes a very steep detour, and instead of turning slowly back it just keeps on going. Like a rabbit hole we keep getting further into the crazy. The title night of the undead in a way is extremely honest because you’ll notice something recurring throughout the film.
I’d watch this again. It’s light hearted until it gets straight up homicidal.. yeah that’s fair. The cinematography is actually very well done. Just enough to keep us guessing, and still give us some anticipation.
Give this a go, but remember to go into it with an open mind. It doesn’t fully stay in one genre. Plus make sure to watch until the very end for the best gift of all.
