IT'S WORTH THE WAIT!!!!

It's worth the wait

WOW. Just Wow!
I have been waiting for this drama for months, now i already finished it. I might say all my agonizing days and self restraint to watch this while airing is all worth it. I have watched the movie first before this that's why I am really ecstatic to know there'll be a drama adaptation, and it's Lusi, one of my fave C drama actress who'll be the FL!!!!! Honestly I am expecting a little bit from this, cz it'll be Lusi. And I think it did meet my expectations, they really get the real parts from the movie of course it was on the former parts of the drama. But I did hope they put GSN's dog in the movie, tho i understand that it might be difficult. Also It's funny and very refreshing. FYI we have classes now, I just spoil myself watching dramas to be stress free from all of our school works. AND BECAUSE I AM REALLY WAITING FOR THIS TO BE FULLY SUB UNTIL OUR CLASSES OPENED ㅜㅜ

Plot.
I love the premise. Since I already watched the movie, I know what will come on the first half. Tho, I am really pissed that they cut too many scenes ㅜㅜ It could've help the story telling more understandable. As oppose to people who say the last half ruined the show, I THINK YOU ARE ALL WRONG. It's the plot, and I think what happened with Lu Zheng is a lesson for him, for Lu Jin and GSN. It helped the characters to develop, and that's a good thing. I also like the way things got resolved. Of the 2nd season is true, well I'll be glad. But I just think they should've put this until episode 30, in that way we can all see everyone's future, with no drag or abruptness of the plot .

Characters:
First I have to say i was not bothered by the age gap. It's evident in the show, but they really had chemistry and all of these stereotypes were washed away. They're so cute and I think their partnering here was soooooo good. I love Lusi's acting of course, she's mastering romcoms and I love her for that. She's very lovely, and she's very professional. I like her silly moments in the drama. Next I know many of you will agree that LJ is, if not the best, one of the best CEO's from Drama land, he's really an intelligent businessman you know? Not like other drama ceo's these days who makes silly things just to get the girl. I love his character more by the second half, he proves his love for GSN and his position as the CEO. I am also very thankful for the side characters, to xinjie, zhaodi, and the uncle, for helping the main leads know what they truly feel. They really did a great job supporting the main leads. Unlike other ppls opinion, yeah I don't also like Li Man, but I applaud her for not pushing herself wayyyy too much into Lu Jin's life, by the time she had confirmed LJ true feelings towards GSN, she didn't even bothered them again. Also LJ mom, i considered her good here, yeah she has given GSN a hard time but we all know she's also a mother who wants to protect her child. I like that she is not overreacting in some scenes, unlike other drama mother-in-laws who're really annoying and will even do what it takes to break the Main leads relationship.
I also have to say on the last episode I really feel proud to them, to Lu Jin to GSN, to Lu Zheng, to LJ Mom, to Xinjie and to Zhaodi.

Music
The music is also good, esp. the one that Lusi sang, that's really adorable and it reflects the whole show that's why I love it. I also love the other songs that's why I am on my way searching these songs and putting it all on my playlist

Rewatch Value
I am sure be rewatching this drama maybe, a year from now or months. I'll just have to forget, and then if I lack dramas to watch this is one of the few dramas on my list that I'll be turning into and will be rewatching.

Food, romance, great comedy!

This starts out light sweet and funny. The female lead is very playful and carefree. The male lead is very serious and unemotional. So their personality clashes are quite hilarious. The mishaps between the main leads in the beginning are both comical and endearing. Their chemistry just sizzles. Then, towards the middle just when it seems a little too sweet, the story picks up. The couple not only face misunderstandings due to the second leads, but they also have to deal with their age difference and their social standing in life. I like that the misunderstandings aren’t overdone or drawn out too long. And most of them are reasonable and understandable.

The cooking scenes are absolutely mouthwatering and quite ascetic but never overwhelmed the drama. Some food dramas get so focused on the cooking scenes that it gets annoying and there are more scenes about cooking than the main leads. But not this drama. It’s very balanced.

I also like that the second leads didn’t continue to cause problems throughout the whole drama which is very annoying. Other more interesting issues pop up which keep the drama from being predictable or boring. There’s not just one main villain or problem to solve so I didn’t lose interest.

I was really touched by the male leads story. He and his mother were abandoned by his father when he was very young. His mother created a very successful corporation all on her own. And she strictly trained her son from a very young age to be a cold unemotional CEO that does whatever it takes to get the job done. His mother continually tells him that love is a weakness that should be avoided at all costs. So his life is very cold, sterile, and unemotional. You can’t help but feel bad for him.

The female lead has a very charming personality. She’s happy, confident, and playful. And the crazy predicaments she gets herself into had me literally laughing out loud numerous times. I loved her passion and enthusiasm. She steals the show with her hilarious antics.

In the beginning when the male lead is obviously smitten with the female lead he has no idea what to do because he’s never been in love. She doesn’t chase after him like most women do so he has to pursue her. And his lack of experience in this area makes him very childlike when he pursues her. He doesn’t know how to deal with his feelings of jealousy, protectiveness and possessiveness. Just watching him figure things out and grow as a person was both funny and touching.

I took off a point because of the excessive angst and unrealistic plot towards the end of the drama. It started out as such a perfect romantic comedy. But the angst and misunderstandings overwhelmed the last few episodes. And then taking a lighthearted sweet guy that spends every moment playing with toy cars and turning him into this evil businessman out to ruin his brother just wasn’t even remotely believable. It doesn’t ruin the drama. It’s definitely worth watching, but it could have been perfect if they had left that part out of the plot line.

In conclusion, this starts out light and sweet. It gets into some office politics and political drama as well as family drama towards the end. But it’s really about learning to trust in love and in family. There’s tons of character growth, several couples, a good plot line, and a great romance. Be ready for some steamy kisses, princess carrying, hugs, and cuddling because this dramas full of it. It’s a great drama that left me all warm and fuzzy inside. I’m glad I watched it

Modern Version ROM/COM

Another review of a series lead by one of my favourite actresses (Zhao Lu Si - Rosy). What can I say, she is always as cute as ever and honestly suit the ROM/COM Genre well.

Lets get this started:

Story: Modern style ROM/COM, kinda like the asian real life version of Beauty & the Beast. Rich Corporate guy that falls in love with an awesome chef however not rich just gets by. How a Rich guy can change his ways and fall in love, etc . Refreshing however nothing too new.

Acting: Main Leads do their jobs well, support casts are good and its what you would expect in any series such as these. Highlights I would say in this whole series would be mainly from the Main Lead cast, Zhao really plays the part well, Lin also had lots of good moments however I found his acting very one dimensional at times even if it was meant to be more lively scenes.

Music: Average, the music used was on que however nothing out standing

Rewatch Value: Yes there is if you are in need of a pick me up kinda feel after an off period. Whether its with ya partner or just closest friends trying to pass some spare time and need some happy ending series to binge on, this would be perfect. If you are like me a Rosy fan, then this series will always be on my mind if I need something to tie me over before watching another new series .

Overall: Good series, no where near the best ROM/COM I have seen. For a first time thing 10000% must watch, after you finish the series you will feel good but honest truth would be really dependent if you would watch the whole series all over again or just certain episode that stuck on your mind.

As always guys thanks for reading and hope I was able to help someone new into the CTV series world when thinking about which nice series to start off with.

Cheers

Shing

I don't usually make an effort to write reviews, but this one's an exception.
I'm a sucker for "older" men because they are more mature, understanding and more experienced. And this character I found in the CEO Lin.. I loved the story because it downplays corporate greed and sibling rivalry..
I binged-watched it twice and can't seem to get enough of it so I started to watch the 'behind-the-scenes' clips. Their chemistry is very good. For someone like me who likes light and fun dramas after a hard-day's work, this one is for you.
And I like the theme song, too, which surprisingly is in English so one can sing-along with it.
All in all, the plot is good and well-written. The characters were well-chosen. All in all, this drama is highly recommended.

A Fun & Funny Meet Cute Turns into A Generic Rich Businessman Fights to Stay on Top Drama

When I heard about this show and found out it was adapted from a movie, the first thing I did was to watch the movie. This show was smart enough to get through most of the structure of the movie in the first 4-5 of episodes, have the characters quickly establish their attraction to each other, and have slightly different motivations than the characters in the movie. This made it easy for the show to become its own. The setup is the same, rich businessman who is thinking of buying a hotel falls in love with the food cooked by a member of the kitchen staff and due to wacky mistakes/coincidences, the kitchen staff member, Gu Shengnan, ends up cooking for him, Lu Jin, to pay off a debt. However, unlike the movie, Nana isn't happy with her position at the hotel, Lu Jin isn't antisocial and super-focused on his work to please a parent, and both characters start to have romantic feelings for each other much sooner. Also, unfortunately we have the (horrible) best friend whose personality is completely different from the one portrayed in the movie, the mandatory second leads to stand in the way of the OTP, and the loyal employee and relative. The acting throughout this drama was good even when a number of the characters were only there to progress the plot. The chemistry between OTP was good, not Bai Lu/Xiu Kai levels, but still believable that those two characters were attracted to each other. By episode 10, we have our established couple, the pair that will make the relationship a square, and Nana's work antagonist. Nana's work issues are quickly resolved by a couple of episodes and then you really don't see her at work as much- bye bye food porn. Then at episode 14, the show starts to turn into something else and the focus is more on Lu Jin. And because he's so good at his job, his antagonist comes from his family. And it goes downhill from there. I was set for this show to be an 8.5. A solid number, but the writing in the 2nd half of this show doesn't work well and diminishes the overall quality of the plot. It's comes off as very forced and predictable, as characters continue to devolve to hit the plot points for the story. So predictable, that you aren't surprised when characters disappear and come back as a couple. I'm not going to complain about how inaccurate the story is about the job of a hotel-employed chef. I've rarely seen any drama that gets it right, most shows aren't The Wire. As for the music, there were four songs that I can remember, but the standout is definitely Your Smile which is the end theme for the drama. The opening theme is Love is For You; then there's Zhao Lusi's I Like You, and the autotuned Falling in Love. All contemporary and fitting for the drama. To end, I'd watch full episodes of 1-14, then I'd start jumping around watching scenes from the rest of the other episodes. Regardless of my disappointment, I mostly enjoyed this show and would love to see Zhao Lusi and especially Lin Shen. That man has sex appeal.

I ACTUALLY LIKE THIS!

I'm not surprise that I like this drama. I really love Lusi acting, she's my favorite C-actress since she started. All of her drama are never disappointing, they are always on my top list. OKAY I'm getting too far, lets rewine what I'm saying...this drama I will have to say was very light heart and cute. If your looking for a funny comedy drama this is the one for you. Even for the age gap between the main casting, they had wonderful chemistry.

Storyline I like it. Its a boss/staff drama, but a very good one. Who doesn't like to watch boss/staff drama, it never gets old.

Overall, I like it and I like it more than I expected. Acting is good...storyline is good...nothing that I dislike about it. If you haven seen it, I recommend you to give it a try. This may be your next fav...who knowns.

Based on the movie 喜欢你 from 2017, the drama is one of the best modern dramas that aired in 2020.
The storyline is very similar to the movie's and only a few differences were made, like adding a few characters and changing the original strict father of the mane lead to a strict mother.
The actors in this drama are quite famous and experienced, which positively influences the overall drama quality. So besides a great and refreshing storyline, the drama offers excellent acting and a good OST. With 24 episodes the drama has a very likeable length, that prevents the watcher from giving up or unnessesary filler episodes.

It's an ok show

Not a bad show overall. I am usually not a big fan of big age gaps relationship but I think this is one of the better ones out there. FL and ML have good chemistry and FL isn't childish or anything.

Show is mainly on cooking (although it diverted quite a lot behind).. can be a bit draggy. Other that that, there are still interesting things to watch in this show which includes the romance.

FINAL VERDICT: can watch to pass time, but not a bad show. however, i wouldn't rewatch this again :)

For older ML and younger FL lovers

First of all, this show is just pure laughter. There are a lot of funny scenes that make my belly ache? It's light, fluffy (Although there is a little plotting at first, and very much in the end), but it was needed to keep the audience hooked. A lot of light, fluffy rom-coms are so boring, I keep dragging them till I couldn't. But every second of dating in the kitchen was full of thrill. Although the story of the second ML and FL is not that likable. I skipped whenever they came on. Other than that, everything was perfect! Oh and the food! The food making scenes were pure ASMR. Made my mouth water quite a couple of times. The production value was great as well. Although truth be told, I never notice that very much. I always give my my full attention to the story and acting, and I have to say, the leads nailed it! 100% recommended.

This is a truly believable age-gap love story.

I firmly believe that whether one likes or dislikes an age gap in a relationship is subjective and depends on one's age, life experience, and physical attraction. In the specific case of this drama, Zhao Lusi's youthful and vivacious character with a high-pitched voice is paired with a mature and older male character, creating an alluring contrast. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this drama but understand that individual preferences may vary.

I absolutely adore characters that are absolute geniuses in their respective fields. It's a pure delight to watch them in action. And there's nothing quite like a drama that features a genius chef and a brilliant businessman defying all odds, including social class and age difference, to fall deeply in love with each other. It's a perfect story that leaves me absolutely spellbound.

I absolutely maintain that a better-looking or more attractive male lead would have been a grave mistake in casting, and would have detracted from the authenticity of the story. It's a well-known fact that businessmen generally don't achieve success at a young age, and how many of them are really model-worthy? I can't think of a single one. So, in my opinion, the casting was spot-on.

Although ML was not conventionally attractive, it does not mean that he was unattractive. He just did not fit the typical male actor look that we usually see paired with Rosy Zhao. I must say, I found it incredibly refreshing and completely believable.

I want to give a special mention to the uncle character who was portrayed as a straight guy (thanks to the Chinese censorship who forbid lgbt+ charactes in dramas) but had all the mannerisms of a gay man. He was absolutely hilarious.

Overall, it was an excellent drama that I'll definitely watch again with pleasure.
