Both dramas are japanese BLs adapted from mangas where the story takes place in school.
Based on the source material both dramas has complex characters which were shaped and influenced by the life experiences they have as kids.

Takara and Kiyoi are similar in the way that they hide their feelings away- and fully tell them when they feel as if their love will be taken from them (sorry that's a bit sad)

Both portray a submissive-dominant, master/servant relationship. The leads from both shows are flawed individuals who are not great at communicating their feelings to each other.

I'm pretty sure you've all already watched season 1 since you're watching season 2 but why not put it here.
Someone might actually be thinking of watching 2 before 1!

They are both based off the same story except one is a series and the other is a movie to go after the series

Both series are BL stories about a student photographer who has a secret crush on the most popular boy in his school. Both have a comedic element but Utsukushii Kare does have a more dramatic tone whereas Secret Crush On You is on the lighter side.

japanese Bl, slice of life, high school age, one love sided at first. One ML has a bad experience coming out so he avoids love until he meets the 2ML who is sweet loving and caring.

Though different setup and plot, both are BL and give a similar vibe. Initially, the ML doesn't speak up liking the other ML and keeps to himself

Trust the Japanese to get down to the nitty gritty themes: dark undercurrents, obsession turning to lust, great acting - not this manga adaptation kind of overdramatisation- slow paced, open ending.

A very similar storyline where there is a domineering classmate that is the school ruler and the underdog that falls for the rule. Both are also dark themes.

Similar vibes and equally nice cinematography.
Also both are BL and set partly in university
(in the first part of Utsukushii kare the characters are still in school.)

Seventeen-year-old Hira, who is at the bottom of the class, tries to remain invisible at school, never wanting to open his mouth and expose his stuttering speech to his classmates. He views the world through his camera lens, detached until one day, Kiyoi Sou walks through the classroom door. The impact is instantaneous.

Hira finds himself pulled into Kiyoi's gravity, following him everywhere and attending to his every need. Popularity comes easily to beautiful Kiyoi, who is always surrounded by his classmates. He uses his status to get what he wants, ordering around the boy who stares at him with his big eyes and seems to worship him like a god.

Hira contents himself to merely exist within Kiyoi's orbit, asking for nothing in return…

Night Flight depicts bullying in high school and the simmering anger that can explode at any moment when the person being bullied has had enough. It shows the loneliness that exists when all you know is sadness and how someone from your past can be the one person that gives you love and hope for happiness in the present.
