Simplicity !!

In a world that BL dramas sould have so much complications and uncut scenes this drama show us that the simple act and storyline would do amazing drama too ...

Didn't expect open ending but I love it .. so many questions and ending I would put it myself 🤷😂

Everything was smooth and fluffy.. I laughed and some scenes touched me too , I felt everything from A to Z and that's how they should do in becoming dramas ..

I loved the companies between reality and drawing they do at the end of the episodes was so cute 💜💜

Thai BL world should take notice .. Korea is going wild and will took anyone stood in her face 👍

Simple, workplace slice of life drama

with a side of fluff. Got to say that I loved this. It was simple but so cute and wholesome. I love how healthy the mains were. And, How they helped each other grow as people and in their workforce. Yes, there was a bit of angst thrown in there for the sake of it in the end it worked for character development. While I did find the romance rushed( I mean what can you do with 7, 20 min episodes?) but I think both the main actors did a convincing job with it.

I liked how their romance was mixed with their work because it was true to their characters. Both were workaholics who strived to be better at their job and make their dreams come true. In the end they achieve that, even if they have to start from scratch.

All in all 8.5. I usually have trouble with Korean BL's but the New Employee was different and is going in my favorite Korean BL's. I enjoyed it thoroughly and highly recommend it.

WATCH IT!

A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E

I’ve read the manhwa and it’s been one of my absolute favourites for the longest time!! I can’t believe I’ve only just now seen this live adaption!!

Although it’s short (like most k-bls 😭) it honestly such a good adaptation bc it stays so true to the original plot (except the spicy~~ bits ofc) and Jong Chan and Seung Hyun are depicted so so damn well it’s amazing. Seung still has those adorable attributes like the manhwa and jong chan still has that cool tone with responsibility, ofc still with those ever so cute moments he breaks character and becomes adorable himself! The pacing does seem to be a little quick as they basically get together by the 3rd episode but I guess that’s also align to the original.

My little quibble with this is that I wish that either the cuts scenes to the character versions of them were based on the original manhwa (ofc they look drastically different to the characters tho) or the manhwa was used in the scenes where ji yeon and lee beom were reading and dictating the plot! Would have been a nice little allusion.

But I also love loved the aspect of the interns making a video and Jong Chan making his own company!!

It was overall a cute short watch! But it rlly did help knowing the plot beforehand bc otherwise there wasn’t much emphasis put on the important parts of each characters personality.

Loads of cute romantic moments over unnecessary melodrama

I am glad to see that there are more BL stories around office employees than staying with the cliché high school students. That being said, this story deserves more than 8 episodes as it contains all the ingredients of being a good drama. The series in its current format abandoned a lot of plots which have the potential of being fleshed out and what we will get is a well-rounded story about our 2 characters and also their colleagues.

The story is about an intern Seung Hyun working for a cold workaholic boss Kim Jong Chan in an ad company and they start having feelings for each other. The story does not appear out of the box and that is fine because where the story might not be original what was presented to us was wholesome and great.

The series takes its own sweet time to go through how slowly their relationship develops. There are all the right moments of romance, love and passion. Its these tender moments between the 2 characters that is necessary in showcasing that the relationship is moving from simple crush to like to love. There are certainly misunderstandings between the 2 characters and that is resolved by the one thing that other BL series fails to understand and that is communication.

The one gripe that I have with BL series is showing relationships ending because of misunderstandings between the characters caused due to lack of communication. But not in this series. When there is a bit of rift in their relationship they decide to talk to each other and come to a conclusion that they need an opportunity to understand each other better. There are no scenes of any of them behaving unreasonably. Instead, they behave like mature people would and voice their grievances and reach a solution. This was new to me and surprising nonetheless.

As I said before, this story has the potential of being fleshed out well. We do get the backstory of Seung Hyun during his high school times and his crush on a guy but we don’t get to see much about Kim Jong Chan. We just know that he lost multiple relationships to being a workaholic. Chances are with Seung Hyun, this nature of his will not change. So will this impact their relationship in the long run. Also there are certain people in office who dislike Kim but we don’t get a very good explanation as to the reason why.

There are many such minor points that could have been expanded if they had a better runtime but even with the lack of these, the story is rather coherent and the actors did a phenomenal job. Certainly a good watch and easily binge-worthy.

Simple and cute

I felt the whole series was simple and cute although the ending felt a bit incomplete to me, maybe there is a special episode or something.
There were some minor plotholes but otherwise, it was a nice watch, I enjoyed it.

I actually liked it!

I was actually shocked with this series. Why? Because I actually liked it. The concept was so simple and sweet, and it could be either a hit or miss. And this was actually a hit with me. I didn't have that much expectation for this series as I did for some previous Korean BL's. And this surprisingly was better than them.

The story was just so cute, simple and sweet. It was set in the workplace and guess what? They actually acted like adults! Just shocking to me! And there was a misunderstanding between the MC. And what happened? THEY ACTUALLY TALKED ABOUT IT AND SOLVED THE MISUNDERSTANDING WITHIN THE NEXT EPISODE! LIKE NO LONG BROODING ON THE ISSUE!! I was a bit shock at how the company did not accept Kim Jong Chan as an employee after his internship was done. I enjoyed all seven episodes from beginning to end and the development of Kim Jong Chan and Woo Seung Hyun.

I adored all of their acting from the main characters to the supporting characters. And to realize that this is the second work that I have watched from the actor Moon Ji Yong and the differences from both of his characters in his two series. He has truly impressed me as I honestly did not realize it was the same person. I give this series an 8.5 and I will totally recommend this series to anyone if they are looking for a light, cute, grown-up BL series.

What a lovely surprise this Series was!

A Mature BL all the way.
And when i say "mature" i don't mean nudity, hot kiss scenes and spicy sex scenes.Don't get me wrong i love all these, lol, but this is not the point here!
A complete, concentrated story within only 7 episodes of 20 mins each!
This is how Bls should be.
Unlike many others with 12 or so hourly eps dragging out everything with unnecessary fillers, lousy dialogues and too much Drama.

They managed to make an interesting story,to create the two main characters in such depth,to give us a nice plot,a real look into troubles ,struggles, fears and hopes of normal working people, without anything felt out of the top.

And all these with the right dose of fluffiness',the eye candy main leads, few really sweet kisses which didn't seem fake and an adorable way to show love and affection.
No childish behavior. Not unnecessary awkwardness while holding hands.Everything felt natural as expected to be when you are inlove.

Did i wish this to be longer?Yes of course!I wanted to see more of their daily life in their own new company.More interactions with coworkers and friends and all this. But still iam more than happy and satisfied with those 7 little cute eps.And iam looking forward to more projects like this in the future.Iam glad Korea starts to take seriously the BL Genre.

Just So So!

The story is average, the scenery is average, the characters are average.

An office romance with nothing specific to make it stand out. Two actors who either cannot really act or they just did not have enough to work with. A serious lack of romantic vibes. One with a major lack of expression and one just a happy little lark.

No rewatch value, I almost didn't make it to the end. I just don't know why someone doesn't stop these productions from happening. Don't they cost money to make. Are there no good bl stories left out there?

Love this one.

Very cute and realistic. Small firm, dependent on star employees. Petty squabbles that affect whole careers. Ignorant upper management used to pushing away anything that they don't want to deal with.

Having worked corporate. Having experienced what many of these characters go through...I could relate. Loved how the romance came about. Understated. Quiet.

Loved how they showed the levels of maturity in each character. And, I appreciated that Choi Si-hun's character never figured out that Woo Seung Hyun had a thing for him. To be that oblivious showed his callous side and how much he was into himself. As BL's gain strength and make more money - we will see the episodes get longer and larger in quantity. But, I never felt any of the character's were underdeveloped. This will always be one I can bounce back to when I am in the mood for it.

FLUTTERY RUSHED OFFICE LOVE STORY

I really really feel bad about every Korean BL I watch ! Like Come on all of the actors and stories really does have a potential and is really really great but because most of them are TOO short we BK fans gets dismayed most of the time !! its already 2023 ! please sponsor all the producers of this Korean Bls' !
and all the “ if only's “ will now come …

anyways , This Korean BL has the same story with Roommates of Poongduck villa 304 which is my all time favorite by the way but is more fluttering ! Like every fluttering moments that a gay could every experience is all here like ughh !! adding the dominance of Km Jong Chan .. and boom ! Its all finished ! They got me there , really !
First the Kim Jong Chan seeing Seung Hyuns sketch ?

Then the Jong chan not letting Seung Hyun get the left charger of the other staff before the meeting starts .. then the Seung Hyuns asking why he was chosen by Jong chan to do the presentation or the idea something like that on the J card promotion “ because its' you” thing ..
and the first cheek Kiss !! OMG like my heart is like going to burst out of nowhere ..

the Back hug ?! The from now on speak casually when Seung Hyun started Jong Chan “ Hyung” and Jong chan Calling Seung Hyun, “ Seung Hyun-A” .. yeah yeah I literally shouted !

And when they sleep on the place that I dont know HAHA with their office colleagues, after they text and Seung Hyun thought Jong Chan is missing and suddenly He was on His side !! they really really got me there ! Like I know how it feels I have experienced it on my high School !!

and EEEEVERY Thing was all fluttering !! thats what this drama have driven me to the end ..

If I were to suggest on this drama off course I would want it to be longer liker at least 12 episode and 1 hour per run time .. yeah I know we really hope for it to come one day !

And I would want to add strength on the music or back ground songs, the only thing I was looking for that seems to lacking is the strong OST that would make me play for the whole month HAHA

and what I do not understand on this drama is the part where Seung Hyun saw the Pen to Jong chan – that it was the gift he chose that he though was to be given to him but not – learning that it was Jong chan that his first love liked that time..

well . On this part I can say it can happen to others but if it was me and I have someone whom I even slept with , I would have never mind that first love if the person right besides me makes me flutter and makes me happy like Jong Chan !

The part where Seung Hyun was not accepted when he applied was driving also like, I remembered during the times that I too was looking for a job and being rejected ..
their moment of comforting each other before Sueng Hyun leave the company made me cry .. they were just teary eye there but as of me I was crying ! hahah

Jong Chan ended up resigning to AR communications and establishing his own company and it was a satisfying ending ! That was a great job together with the two girl that Seung hyuns friends they are so jolly and I expected them to be right by Seung Hyuns side until the end.. It was really nice KBL .. must watch indeed.. I

.. IF ONLY THAT THE RUN TIME IS LONGER ! ..

And by the way I was glad to see the CEO on this drama I've seen her on korean dramas she was a well known actress and I liked her acting her name is Ye Ji Won ! I've seen her on Never Twice ! I liked her so much ! ♥

New and Improved

So many BLs focus on dramatic plots and scenarios that would never happen in real life and while those have their place and can be quite entertaining, there's something about the simplicity and normalcy of The New Employee that makes it stand out. It's not all burning passion and smoldering looks and kisses, but rather the quiet development of a relationship, realistic trials that any couple might face, and learning how to communicate and make said relationship work. The New Employee is a desperately needed breath of fresh air.

At only 7 episodes, this series had a limited amount of time to bring this story to life, but it did a good job working with that limited time. There were very few if any superfluous scenes, rather it all came together to make the most of it's time to develop its characters. Most of the various plot lines were done well with satisfactory conclusions; only one or two were left hanging. I found the ending to be both wholesome and satisfying. I loved that the four of them came together to create something and with all their talents combined, I can only imagine how successful they'll be. I appreciated the maturity of it. These were two adult men embarking on a new relationship, but that didn't take away from both the excitement of little things like dropping honorifics to say each other's name and the giddiness of holding hands for the first time or the anxiety caused by their first fight and learning how to communicate effectively. There are parts I would have liked to see fleshed out more, but I also didn't feel like there were any glaring holes and the pacing was good, so I really can't complain that much.

Seung Hyun is a late bloomer, a young man in his late twenties still figuring himself out and what he wants to do with his life. He's a relatable character and while he does come across as a tad naive with an almost childlike innocence, he's not childish. His relationship with Jong Chan is his first so he has a lot to learn, but he does, figuring out how to communicate and navigate fights and everything else that comes with a relationship. His struggles didn't feel overblown or exaggerated, but more like what anyone might face.

Jong Chan took the idea of the icy, unfeeling boss and made it his own. He's a focused workaholic, but he's not mean and not abusive. He works hard and while he might not be buddy buddy with his subordinates, he's also not unfeeling and they clearly respect him. His behaviour as a boss is juxtaposed by how he is outside work where he shows a warmth that is especially brought out when he's with Seung Hyun. He's honest and communication is clearly important to him. He keeps no secrets from Seung Hyun and is clear about his faults, freely acknowledging them while also working to overcome them.

Ji Yeon and Kang Hae were so refreshing. Having female characters who were not relegated to serving as the catalyst for one of the main leads figuring out his feelings or acting as a villain was a pleasant surprise. Both women were strong, independent characters who had their own stories and goals. I enjoyed Ji Yeon's and Seung Hyun's friendship and how she'd supported him over the years and his new friendship with Kang Hae and how they worked together was just as enjoyable.

Kwon Hyuk and Ji Yong were both superb in their roles. Their chemistry was so good, subtle and sweet and absolutely perfect for the roles they played. Kwon Hyuk was so good at balancing the focused professional at work with the warm boyfriend. And Ji Yong really brought Seung Hyun to life as a hardworking intern and enterprising ad creator.

The production quality was good. Some of the night scenes could have done with a bit better lighting, but that's really my only complaint, if you can even call it a complaint.

I thoroughly enjoyed The New Employee. It was a very pleasant change from the unnecessarily dramatic and poorly told series I've watched recently and I really cannot recommend it enough. That being said, if you're looking for fireworks and hot NSFW scenes, this is not going to be the drama for you. However, if you enjoy simpler, well told stories with a realistic and sweet romance, you should absolutely watch this. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Too fluffy

A little too fluffy for my liking. I think if the drama is trying to capture the feeling of that particular moment when you're falling in love in its aesthetics, it did simply that, but not a lot else. There are a lot of smiles and dreamy look, accompanied by airy music that represents that butterfly in the stomach type of feeling. Seung Hyun is too childish in my opinion that it's actually off putting for me. In saying that, the pacing is much better compared to other dramas with similar feel.
