The sequel of the beloved 2015 movie Veteran is also a box-office hit.

On September 16, the Korean Film Council announced that the movie I, the Executioner had reached a cumulative number of viewers of 2,095,922, exceeding 2 million in three days of its release. The movie achieved another million milestones only a day after celebrating its first million viewers.

With this achievement, I, the Executioner have set a new record for the fastest film to reach 2 million viewers this year, surpassing previous record holders Exhuma and The Roundup: Punishment.

The long-awaited sequel of Veteran is a popular choice for family moviegoers during the Chuseok season. The favorable reviews from families who have watched I, the Executioner during the Chuseok holiday are boosting its popularity.

The film has been praised not only for the performances of the main leads but also for the powerful message it delivers.

All eyes are on the final box office performance of the film I, the Executioner that is the collaboration work of director Ryu Seung Wan and main leads Hwang Jung Min and Jung Hae In.

 I, the Executioner is a crime investigation film that focuses on the pursuit of a serial killer. The film showcases the collaboration work of the youngest detective Park Sun Woo joining the violent crime investigation team led by veteran Seo Do Cheol.

The movie premiered in Korean theaters on September 13, 2024. 

Aside from Hwang Jung Min and Jung Hae In, actors Ahn Bo Hyun, Oh Dal Soo, Jang Yoon Ju, and Oh Dae Hwan were also part of the cast. 

 I, the Executioner is the sequel to the 2015 film Veteran which was also led by Hwang Jung Min. The movie garnered over 13 million moviegoers, making it the 5th all-time highest-grossing film in South Korean film history.
