I was looking online for recommendations for animes with good romance and saw someone suggest that fans of romance would really enjoy Asian dramas. After my first kdrama Queen in-Hyun's man, I haven't looked back
For me it started in 2007. I was 15 and heartbroken for the very first time and spent my days on youtube looking up every sappy breakup song possible. Then I probably typed something like "I want to stay beside you" or something just as horrible, like little girls would do and ended up with page after page with parts of Devil Beside You. It seemed interesting enough, so I watched it and fell in love with Mike He. I watched a few other dramas, all starring him ofcourse, and then I just kind of forgot about everything drama related. In the years that followed, I would sometimes rewatch Devil Beside You, just because I liked it that much, and this summer was one of those times. Only his time, I decided I wanted more. After some more Mike He dramas I searched for a list of recommended Taiwanese dramas and landed on It Started With A Kiss, which I did not like at all. So I went back to DBY and decided to look up something starring Rainie Yang. Looking through her dramas, I found ToGetHer and recognised Jiro Wang as the hilarious sweetheart from ISWAK, and this time, I was hooked. Ifell in love with that man and his voice. Then, after watching Faboulous Boys, I had to compare it to the other versions, and so I broke my "only dramas in Mandarin"-rule and watched You're Beautiful, which introduced me to Jang Geun Seuk who introduced me to Kdramas... Now, I'm in dramaland to stay!
how did I met korean dramas? it all started when an asian novela aired in the Philippines (station: abs-cbn) I was 9 yrs old at that time. that show was meteor garden a taiwanese drama Since I like it very much I continue to watch asian dramas that aired in abs-cbn: save the last dance for me, spring waltz, my girl and bit by bit I've been drag to korean dramas..XD PS: even though Taiwanese drama is the "first" Asian drama that I've seen and like, the one that I become addicted to is Korean dramas. so its not about what comes "first" :)
I discovered Asian dramas about year, year and a half. It all started like this: I watched anime on TV and I was thinking to find that anime on net, so I googled it and find a site with anime and manga. Later, I was searching for some other anime and I find it "Itazura na kiss". Reading comments about that anime I discovered about live action or drama as we say it on some site. I googled it and find it.After watching "Playful kiss" my first drama. It is a K-drama and later I get addicted to other like: "Myung Wol the spy", "Buzzer Beat", "You're beautiful", "Heartstrings" and etc. I knew about K-pop and listened since awhile, but never thought about dramas at that time. Now I can say that my favourite time is waiting for episodes of a new dramas to come out :D
A friend at the time asked me to watch a drama with him. It wasn't all that good...but I ended up watching Sorry, I Love You... which I loved. But I didn't even start watching a lot then. I believe I started listening to Park Hyo Shin...who was my first Korean artist. Fast-forward some years...another friend at the time asked me to watch Oldboy with him. From then on...I started searching for other Korean movies. I fell back in love with Park Hyo Shin which lead me to Iljimae...Lee Jun Ki...and then it took off from there.
Asian dramas are well-known here in the Philippines... most broadcasting networks would air dramas every now and then... I don't appreciate it much until I got hooked into it last September i think.? haha.. I am a fan of anime... as far as i can remember i adore sailor moon when i was six years old, from that then on, i enjoyed watching anime already... I also watch dramas before, but it would usually be the live-action ones... One day, I searched the net for the 3rd kuroshitsuji musical... unfortunately, i didn't found the thing i was looking for, but then i discovered that there will be a live-action film... the reviews or predictions rather, of how will the movie end up are mix of both positive and negative comments... it is said that the actor who will portray sebastian michaelis was able to portray another butler role in "Mei-chan no Shitsuji" so I became curious and started watching the drama... ^_^ from that then on, i started to like asian dramas...
GOONG! Actually it wasn't my first asian drama, meteor garden was my first. But after Goong was shown here in the Philippines I got hooked with the drama OST and from then on I got hooked on Asian dramas and Asian pop music :D
