i hope you heard something back by now. when do you fly out again?
kawaikochan i just saw ur edit to the 1st post in this thread. that's a smart thing u did. there. @lady i did hear back last week but i've been so busy i haven't had time to really to visit the boards. i'm going to ogi city, saga prefecture in kyushu. it's south of fukuoka from what i see on google maps. i was told by someone that's there isn't anything exciting happening in ogi city but i can always take a train to fukuoka to have fun. i fly out tonight 8:20pm est. it's a lot of traveling. st. lucia --> london gatwick (8 hrs) then transfer to london heathrow --> narita (13hrs) -->fukuoka (2.5 hrs). i'm only going to experience 4 hrs of wednesday.

I'm soooooo jealous! have fun for me too!
kyaaaa.... i hope the trip is going well ^_^ that's a long trip =/ 13 hours from London? i'm surprised, i think it's like 14 hours from Toronto, going the other direction, so i guess going west from here Japan is halfway to England hahaha. for some reason i thought it was closer than that. it's too bad you couldn't get a direct flight, but in some ways connecting flights are better cause it gives you time to walk around and stretch and use a proper bathroom, buy some snacks etc... it makes the trip longer but less uncomfortable IMO
I am really late to answering this question: I am an Asian Studies major with a focus on Japanese Language and Culture. I have taken quite a few history classes and really enjoy it! Last semester I was exposed to Japanese literature and film. It was very interesting and I recommend courses or just reading up on Japanese history to even further your appreciation for Japan ^^
so update on my japanese language training. i have to admit 2 things. 1. due to stress of the last 3 weeks and lack of revision i forgot a lot of my japanese. 2. being in japan has actually made me feel intimidated to use the little japanese i do remember. so i have not said much japanese aside from hai, arigato, yoroshiku onegaishimasu and wakarimasen (i say this more than anything else lol) the good news is i found a japanese conversational class. 2 hrs, once a week for 2 months and it's only about 12.50 usd for the entire run. i start today so i'm looking forward to it. time to get my study back on.

Ohh that´s an relief you found an class to learn with. I just noticed I have been neglecting this thread here since I began my japanese studies!!!I must change that very fast...but for now GOMENASAI*~*
Sorry everyone I will sure to come back here soon...*after the exams for sure, sigh*
good that you found a class, and it's cheap :D i've been plugging along with Tae Kim's guide. a lot of my notes are written on scrap paper from work lol so i'm going to rewrite them and review at the same time, whenever I feel motivated to do so. sometimes it's encouraging that I can pick out some of the things I've studied in dramas or music, but then I realize, I remember the form but don't remember what it is/does. and the guide is starting to go into more indepth stuff now so I better backtrack a bit (I keep saying that but I keep pushing forward lol I guess I'm anxious to make progress)
I am trying to teach myself...very hard to do. Any help anyone?
