But I didn't even know what the movie was really about since I wasn't planning on watching it and just watched it because I promised Han, I would.

Yea yea, blame it all on me...

It is important for people to be aware of cruelties and injustices in this world so they can be stopped/prevented. But I do NOT need to watch this movie to be informed / sensitive and knowledgeable.

After reading all the articles Han posted and the comments here from those who have watched, I have changed my mind. I don't feel watching an extremely graphic depiction is necessary. I'm not going to watch.

No one would fault you for skipping it. It is an amazing piece of work, but one that can only be watched once. It makes Graveyard of the Fireflies look like a Disney movie.....

Im so scared now. I have a physics test tomorrow, so I decided not to scar myself just yet, and put it off until tomorrow so I can focus on my test tomorrow... LOL.

Your kidding right? I cried for ages in that movie -.-
So sad *sniff sniff*

Mind telling me in what ways its "graphic" ?
I just wanna make sure I dont get scarred for life.

Honestly kiddo? I would wait until you are about 18 at least. This movie is too mature for you. Don't take that negativity, it is just that you need to be much more jaded to watch this.

Also, I was not kidding about the Graveyard thing, it is truly a sweet little kid's movie in comparison.

The movie depicts the rape, molestation, and beating of the children. That was in part what was so horrific about the movie but, what was worse, was watching the children sign their experiences. Speaking could never convey the emotion that signing can. I went into this movie thinking: Yay! I can learn some KSL. I came out a very jaded person.

I would recommend you just read the articles I posted.

I will be blunt then, since the subtle approach seems to not work for you.

You are too young. If you cry for every drama and anime already? You are too soft. I honestly think even being 20 is too young. You can get all the indignation you need from the articles. If you feel you HAVE to watch this, and I know I would have hated this at your age, ask one of your parents to watch it first. They know you best and can gauge if it is appropriate for you.

I know, asking a parent to screen it for you, horror of horrors right? This is a case where I would advise it. I am very glad I watched it with a friend, my Unni.

This is a movie I would never allow my 18 year old brother to see until he was older. As unfair as it sounds, you are just too darn young. You will not be the only one who chooses not to watch it, Jeannieshi is MUCH older than you and is forgoing it. It is nothing to be ashamed of at all.

This movie did not make me cry, I misted a bit, what it did make me do is get so close to vomiting that I had a bucket next to me and was drinking pepto bismol like water.

I honestly think you shouldn't watch it. If I could go back in time I would probably never watch this movie.
Just to let you know I am 31 almost 32 and I am also jaded. I've seen a lot of things and I am NOT easily squeamish. But the graphic depiction of children being sexually abused and beaten would be too much for even me. At least the way it is described by those who have watched here. The Crucible seems to not shy away from being graphic about this. I would never let a 16 year old see this film. I wouldn't let my daughter see this until she is an adult (18+++) and even then it would be more "I can't stop her" rather than "I would allow her" situation. This is adult subject matter and I am not the least bit hesitant in saying 16 is NOT adult. period.

Da** Skippy! I agree
see!? I knew I would get kicked! It's so bad that I have to reload constantly and it takes a bit to answer people. I have to copy and paste my responses every time because if I just click post reply I will lose all that I have just typed. I miss IRC and talking to people. Being online is becoming a damn chore. But it will have to wait a bit until we can afford the rewiring inside our house..... So just know I miss you all and I'm sorry I threadjacked so badly just now.

No worries on either count.
