Hmmm... I just got done watching 20 episodes of Kimchi Family and now I'm watching Hungry. So far that short blurb of a synopsis does not entice me to watch this.

I've seen the first 4 episodes and like what I see. I'm not fluent in Korean but it seems like there's originally 1 family that raised 3 children-Kim Hyeon Myeong, Choi Jin Mi, Kang San Hae. Am unable to tell if all 3 are related by blood, since when Park Gye Hyang came into the Kim family, she was already pregnant and there was also another baby outside being held by a retainer of the Kim family. Of the two girls raised, one (Choi Jin Mi) was favored by the head matriarch and teaches her personally. The other girl (San Hae), may be Gye Hyang's daughter by blood, is treated poorly by head matriarch, but Gye Hyang and her husband treat her well and she learns the family tradition from Gye Hyang. Not to give away most of EP 1, but a death results in San Hae being banished from the family. We will learn through the first 2 episodes who was caused the death. However, San Hae keeps in touch with Gye Hyang by sending anonymous food offerings every now and then and has opened up a restaurant. She and Gye Hyang have not seen each other for 20+ years. We find out later that Jin Mi has also left the family and is working at a major food company. Hyeon Myeong has a son, Seong Joon. He and his son are doctors (neurosurgeons?). San Hae has I think 2 children, Geum Ho and Geum Hee. Geum Hee is also a doctor, but I think more focused on oriental medicine. Seo Yeong Joo is the daughter of the head of the major food company where Jin Mi works; she works in the lab of her father's company. Yeong Joo and Seong Joon were once in love, but either his dad or his grandma, Gye Hyang, objected to the marriage. Jin Mi is scheming to obtain the Kim family's kimchee knowledge (?), while Yeong Joo also schemes to enter the family.
