The story is about a man fighting against the selfish and corrupt government to save the ordinary peasants. Iljimae was abandoned by his birth father and adopted by a Chinese couple. He returns to Korea to find his birth family and realizes how unjust the world really is. He watched as his first love, Dal Yi, was wrongfully put to death. Iljimae then vows to help the commoners from the corrupt government officials.

Currently started watching this and am about 6 episodes in.. The directing is diffrent from the first as it tells the story as if reading a book and I kinda like that.
I absolutely LOVED Iljimae with Lee Jun Ki. The epicness of that series still lingers in my mind, and even though this version has Jung Il Woo in it, I'm still hesitant to watch...
I haven't watched either Iljimae's yet, but I've heard from many that Return of Iljimae is much better than Iljimae, and my crush on Jung Il Woo is causing me to sway towards watching Return first. Any input?
Well my biased opinion would try and sweet-talk you into watching Iljimae with Lee Jun Ki first....but I'm not that reliable at this point to hand out advice. Sorry.

I can't compare yet.. Should have the series finished by tomorrow will post then.
i have this on my watchlist bt i remember someone tellin me i shud skip it coz it's disappointing afta havin watched iljimae..therefore im a bit apprehensive to start (remember, i just watched iljimae last week n loved it)...hmmmm what do i do?? drop it or give it a try????
wwekhyan wrote: Well.. I have tons of love for the first one. The ROI is a bit redundant in parts but the way they go about telling the storry I find it rereshing in style. The story is moving as it is with Iljamae and Sung II Woo I liked his acting even though it is hard for me not to see Lee Jun Ki in it..Over all cinematography was amazing, music fits well, pacing of the story is done right, solid acting, good casting, so I would reccomend it to others, yes.

Ok I posted this in General Disscusiion but thought I should put it here too.
