As we all know, times have gotten pretty dark and stressful recently, so I want to take my mind off it with some wholesome, cheerful dramas.

i am not a huge fan of romance and any lovey-dovey stuff (unless it isn’t the main story line i guess), but aside from that, i am open to all other recommendations!

Life is a dance between joy and sorrow. You and I only fully experience the one after experiencing the other. So, when people ask me for a  wholesome drama the first one  that pop in to my mind is "Chocolate".   Prepare yourself for strong feelings (script, sounds and locations)

No romance? That's kinda hard, I watch dramas because of romance ahahah. However I'll try to reccomend you something, hoping it could help you :D

• Overprotected Kahoko (Jdrama) there's a love story, but it isn't the only topic in this drama . It's actually about a girl who was overprotected by his parents all her life, she's now 21 (if I'm not wrong) and slowly starts to explore the world and grow up. It's actually pretty good, a very pure drama, it makes you feel well.

• School 2017 (Kdrama) there is romance, I can't help it ahah, but it's not that cringey lovey dovey you talk about, at least it isn't to me... However it's just a school story, so nothing new, it's about friendship, dreams, bullying. Overall a very nice story, I really liked the leads, they're just a nice match!

• Father is strange (Kdrama) a pretty long drama, 52 episodes, but if you don't watch it now, then when? Actually I'm watching it right now so I don't know about the end but it's pretty good so far... There is romance, I'm sorry ahah, there are a lot of characters and many different stories, not only about love. I think this is a good choice in this period if you're alone, it keeps you up.

Maybe Shopping King Louie, the two main leads are so dumb and cute

ROMANCE  IS A  BONUS BOOK

SHOPPING  KING LOUIE

age of youth and eulachacha waikki are my go too feel good dramas (they both feature romance as a sub plot but its not the main focus)

I second Elena's recommendation, especially Over protected Kahoko. Low key, light fluffy, family drama with the romance aspect as a side story.

Also check out:

  • Super Family / Strong Family (Kdrama)
  • Stepmother and Daughter Blues (Jdrama)
  • Prison Playbook (Kdrama)
  • Aogeba Toutoshi (Jdrama)

Also maybe check out movies:

  • Hula Girls (Japan)
  • Miss Granny (all versions)
  • Teacher's Diary (Thailand)

These totally fit the bill of what you're looking for, I will recommend more if you like these :)
