201. Precise Shot
Chinese Drama - 2020, 20 episodes
I enjoyed it. It's pretty solid for a censored BL. Also, it's a giant commercial for oral care products. xD
-
202. You Are My Spring
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Loved it. It's a romance with a nice touch of murder mystery. It was exactly what the doctor ordered for my drama slump, even though it has nothing new or refreshing. Actually, ML's ex is refreshingly lovable and cute. Loved her. I also loved the fact that there's no "mandatory" shower scene. xD
It gets draggy and dull round episode 12 so I had to drop my rating to 7.Customer Service, Suicide, Mental Health

205. The Trick of Life and Love
Chinese Drama - 2021, 32 episodes
Well this has been a crazy fun ride. I guess you could call it a guilty pleasure. It's one of those typical amnesia romcoms, except FL is pretty sly. I was also pleasantly surprised to see Leon Lee playing her older brother. Its main flaw is that it's kind of long (32 episodes).
-
206. You Are My Glory
Chinese Drama - 2021, 32 episodes
It's a good adaptation, it's just a completely different vibe from what I was expecting. The novel will always be near and dear to my heart and it's hard to beat that. xD But this had a good cast and director. I will say that the slow piano music made me fall asleep MULTIPLE times while watching this drama. ?Other than the displaced music selection, it's good. That's not to say the OST is bad cuz the songs are good. On a related note, the producers of this are the same producers as Douluo Continent. >_< It might explain the sound mixing, though they did a lot better job producing this drama.
-
207. On the Verge of Insanity
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
So accurate, it hurts. I did not need this negativity in my life. xD Though the drama ends on a positive note.
Regarding Lee Sang Yeob's character. I read a timed comment that said, "This man is a blessing from hell." I couldn't think of a more accurate description. You keep holding on hope that we will turn for the better, but eventually will have to write him off as irredeemable. I had so many conflicting feelings regarding this character. He's technically scum, but he's kind of endearing. -
208. Cinderella Is Online
Japanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
You have to think of this as a loose adaptation of Love O2O. I think a lot of people were disappointed because they had higher expectations whereas I did not have any. This drama is clearly low budget with subpar graphics. That being said, I think they did a good job of taking the story and shortening it to jdrama format and putting their own spin on things. They made some changes, which for the most part were pretty good and made sense with the story shortening. Of course, we lost some good moments like the friendship and K.O. storyline. The only thing that annoyed me was they added an unnecessary breakup, which original storyline did not have. It's cliché in a bad way and one of the reasons I liked Love O2O in the first place was because it had none of that nonsense with the main couple.

209. Kotaro wa Hitorigurashi
Japanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
What an unlikely friendship. ^^ I think I need to browse more of the unusual friendship tag. In a way, this is also a found family plot.

210. Truth or Dare
Chinese Drama - 2021, 30 episodes
FL is cute and I liked the main couple. It's just that I can see myself forgetting about this drama in a few months. It's not very memorable for me. Also, you can't tell me FL is super strong, yet have multiple scenes that contradict this statement.

213. Neechan no Koibito
Japanese Drama - 2020, 9 episodes
Heartwarming, but kind of slow paced. I wish they had spent more time on family relationship with the brothers instead of workplace stuff. But then we probably wouldn't get much romance time. xD Also, I know I shouldn't get fixated over this, but one of my retail pet peeves is when stores put up Christmas decorations literally the day after Halloween. Call me a Grinch, but two months for Christmas decor and music is too much.
Sibling raising child ✔ -
214. Mu Lan
Chinese Drama - 2013, 40 episodes
It's landing somewhere between a 7 and 7.5 for me. The reason I'm giving it a 7.5 is because there where two Mulan dramas that aired in 2013. I liked this one better. This drama was more entertaining when it came to the comedy and the military drama. Although, the other drama is probably more close to the legend and has better developed characters. I just remember them spending so much time on her weaving days. x_x This version assumes you're already familiar with most of the story so it doesn't go that deep into it. FL's fiancé was dumb af, but occasionally his book smarts would save the day. It was kind of refreshing. The last episode was kind of rushed and bittersweet for me.

Korean Drama - 2007, 16 episodes
This went by so quickly. I'm gonna miss these dorks. What a bunch of goofballs. xD This was a good comedy. The ending scenes were freaking hilarious. The drama is from 2007, but it surprisingly aged well with time.
+1 to the Vincenzo rec. If you liked one, there's a good chance you'll like the others. The characters have a similar dynamic. Also, if you're into tomb raiding dramas or treasure hunting, you might like this too. It's written by the same writer as Diary of a Prosecutor, Age of Youth, and White Christmas.Drama From 2007 ✔

221. Mulan Legend
Chinese Movie - 2020
Bad acting and didn't get to see Mulan's growth. This was the version where she saved the princess and takes place when she is already a respected general. It was like watching the 3rd part of a movie series without having seen the first two movies. There was really nothing "Mulan" about this except that she was a female soldier. The story could've involved any female soldier, but they just borrowed Mulan's name for more views. Also, literally everyone died except for main character wtf.
-
222. Unparalleled Mulan
Chinese Movie - 2020
Doing a Mulan marathon. Dare I say, the Disney live version was better than this. Bad acting and didn't get to see Mulan's growth as a soldier, which is disappointing since that's my favorite part of the story. This is the version where she saves the prince. In this version, she was already talented to begin with. The story didn't impress me much.

223. Ojisama to Neko
Japanese Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
Such a wholesome drama. 100% cat lover approved. I wonder how they animated the cat. Is it robotic, a puppet, or all cgi?
Pet parent ✔︎ -
224. Medical Examiner Dr. Qin
Chinese Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
This drama was fantastic. I really loved this trio, especially the female lead. They make a great team. Also, I loved the dapper outfits. xD This drama went with the hyperrealism route when it came to the gross stuff, so I would only recommend to those who have a strong stomach. The first few cases were especially gross. Absolutely do not watch while eating. x_x The last episode was kind of dumb with the writing, but overall it's a very entertaining and somewhat believable show.

225. Solaso Bistro
Chinese Drama - 2017, 20 episodes
This was a nice refreshing drama with two actresses I love: Jiao Jun Yan and Eleanor Lee. I have not seen the original jdrama (Mondai no Aru Restaurant), but this seemed like a well made adaptation. On a random note, there seemed to be a ridiculous amount of staff working at that tiny bistro. xD The original drama was probably written before 2017 #MeToo movement, but this drama aired right around that time. Talk about good timing. This drama was more about healing than it was about getting justice, but it does have a good amount of female empowerment in it. The only annoying thing is that there were a lot of men that knew people were being harassed, kept silent and didn't say anything. The audience could tell they were part of the problem, but I wish the drama would've addressed this. They didn't really redeem these characters. But then again, this stuff happens all the time in real life, so it's very real and relatable.

227. Sweet Teeth
Chinese Drama - 2021, 22 episodes
I wanted real sugar, but got something artificially sweetened instead. It's still good, but it didn't quite hit the spot. How do I rate this? The first 15 episodes were like a 6.5 and the last 7 episodes were in the feel good 7 range. The main thing I liked was the friendship. The relationship stuff was mostly fluff without good writing, except for Noonamance couple. The other couple had GREAT chemistry, but the writing about their relationship was kind of shallow. As for the main couple...meh. Again, they were just there for fluff. I'm just glad they didn't go with stepbrother secretly in love with sister love triangle route.
This is not to say this drama is bad. It is quite enjoyable, but maybe I'm just sick of sweet and craving something savory? -
228. Sword Dynasty
Chinese Drama - 2019, 34 episodes
Okay, now I see why this had a lower rating and it doesn't help that people had high expectations. I went in with low expectations and mainly watched for the cast. If you're watching for the cast and you generally like this genre, you'll probably like it. The beginning was really confusing (the writing assumes you've read the novel or synopsis and know most of the backstory). After a while, you finally understand what's going on and start to enjoy it. I'm not saying it's amazing, but if you like the genre, it's decent. Plus, cast and OST are great. The production is also decent, though there are areas of weakness.
Anyways, the story is essentially a revenge story, but when it comes down to it, the revenge in the finale episode is just is NOT satisfying enough. After all that, what was the moral or point of the story? Also, the drama ending is different from the novel ending so novel fans must've been really disappointed.Favorite Actor ✔︎

Ayano Go + Ishihara Satomi (who is adorable as always) + talking animals. Need I say more?

Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm being objective with this one. Matsuyama Kenichi + adorable little girl = *ovaries explode*. The story was good and heartwarming to begin with anyway. Also, both Matsuyama Kenichi and child actress (Ashida Mana) did a phenomenal acting job.

Japanese Movie - 2014
lol, wow, after all that. this story was quite the journey and took some unexpected turns.
it was hard to find a streamable version with eng sub. finally found one hardsubbed with french subs and then had srt file open on the side with english sub that i was using to follow along. the struggle was real. xD -
233. Wong Wien Hua Jai
Thai Drama - 2021, 18 episodes
This is a remake of a very outdated story with controversial elements. They tried to clean up a lot of stuff for the 21st century. Unfortunately, a lot of the controversial stuff is a core part of the original story and could not be taken out. I mainly watched to see how this would compare to the 2009 version with Weir and to see how they would portray the nangrai (who I considered to be one of the most psycho villains in lakorn history). The first half was pretty good. The writers *tried* to be woke, but failed at hitting the point home cuz they brought in elements like victim blaming, etc. In the first half ML is a pretty decent guy compared to 2009 version.
Second half is where things went downhill. It got draggy and they made some changes to the storyline. They brought in amnesia and stretched out the story and there was a ridiculous amount of deception. I lost all respect for ML toward the end. He was dumb and did not deserve FL. I could not believe she still loved him after all that he put her through. He probably felt remorse, but it wasn't portrayed well (either the actor or writer's fault). Ideal ending for me is her leaving abroad to forget about this mess, meeting someone she knew in college who had a one sided crush on her, marrying him, and living happily ever after.Farming ✔︎

234. A Piece of Your Mind
Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
Slow paced healing drama. It got better after 3 episodes, but still uber slow paced. A good drama for bedtime cuz it's soothing and you can doze off to easily. I personally feel like this plot could've been done in 4-6 episodes. Would not recommend to those who don't like slow paced. Plot was also very confusing in the beginning and most of the confusion didn't clear up until the end.
-
235. One and Only
Chinese Drama - 2021, 24 episodes
So many people were calling this drama a masterpiece. It's a quality drama that's above average, but when I first started the drama I was like 'where is the masterpiece???' It's also a slow burn drama, so that didn't help in my case either. I can't quite call it slow paced, because this drama was a journey and so much happened in just 24 episodes. It is very rare for a c-historical. They utilized their time and pace properly.
Anyways, the last few episodes were so freaking amazing. Beautifully directed with phenomenal acting. It blew me away. But like I said before, it's slow burn drama so not for everyone, especially if you're not into palace politics...there's a lot of it. Also, I wish they could've explained some of the backstory better...or maybe they did and it just flew over my head. The story is like a 7 to 7.5, but bumping it up to an 8 for those phenomenal last few episodes. -
236. The Ideal City
Chinese Drama - 2021, 40 episodes
Ah, I really loved this. The cost engineering thing is very refreshing. I would only recommend to those who like business dramas or crunching numbers though. It's a business drama through and through (with a little romance on the side). It's tagged as a Romance drama on MDL, which is a bit misleading. Anyways, the main thing that annoyed me was FL's haircut. xD

237. I Will Find You a Better Home
Chinese Drama - 2020, 53 episodes
This was a loose adaptation of the jdrama Ie Uru Onna. I thought it was a good remake. For the most part, I liked the changes they made. In this version, FL is slightly more heartless in the beginning. While the jdrama is more of a feel good drama, this is also heartwarming, but covered a lot more social issues. Because of the social issues, there were a lot of greedy and awful characters that come up, especially when it came to the Shanghai Bungalow deals. That's where you lost the "feel good" part in this drama. I also wish they would have spent more time showing properties like in the jdrama instead of all the drama. Tbh, I binged 53 episodes and it just exhausted me. I really enjoyed it in the beginning. It was a 7.5 for me until ep. 30 and then things slowed down. It was still good, but I was just exhausted.
As a side note, I decided I like shows from this network and find them refreshing. Although, most of the stuff I've seen from them as of late have been loose adaptations. I think I'm going to try out more of their dramas. I'm so sick of the fluffy idol drama stuff. -
238. New Generation: Happiness Method
Chinese Special - 2021, 8 episodes
f Hallmark China was a genre, this would be it.

239. Forever and Ever
Chinese Drama - 2021, 30 episodes
I think the general consensus is that people liked One and Only better and I guess I fall into the majority, though I also liked this too. This was like a nice reunion series after One and Only. There were some familiar faces that made me smile. Starting out it was like a treat for One and Only fans and helped me get through withdrawal. Had I not watched the first season, I would've probably given this a 7. Bai Lu is bae and Ren (Liu Ruo Gu) is a cutie pie. ML is an endangered species. You can call him a stalker, but let's go with super attentive.
There's something that comes to mind when I think of these two series: The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. That is the actual quote, btw, and often gets misquoted when people say "Blood is thicker than water." -
240. In the Name of People
Chinese Drama - 2017, 55 episodes
An anti-corruption drama that "depicts the ugly side of Chinese politics, but that also has the blessing of the country's powerful top prosecutors' office." Many western audiences compared it to House of Cards. It's a super political drama that might not be for everyone. The dialogue/script can be a bit weak at times, but the actual political conspiracy story was pretty good. Some parts even had me on the edge of my seat. It was really hard to tell who the bad guys were or even the grey characters because there were so many people acting upright and just cuz they worked in government. Even if they were corrupt, they still had some morals. Even though the story is good, I still had to fast forward a lot, especially through the nostalgia/propaganda scenes...though the propaganda was not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
As in many governments, there's a lot of scenes with old cronies sitting at a table discussing politics and possibly scheming. Tbh, it took me a while to tell the boomers and middle aged men apart. They all dressed, talked, and acted the same way. It didn't help that there were so many characters to keep track of either. I would complain about the lack of diversity in this drama, since the amount of female characters can be counted on my fingers, but sadly the casting is probably an actual representation of this government. On another sad note, the black actors that had cameos in this drama were all casted as thugs/henchmen. :( Anyways, dramas stereotype women as the over emotional ones, but the men in this drama could be so extra. Like CHILL.Award Winning Actor ✔︎

241. Minning Town
Chinese Drama - 2021, 23 episodes
Period drama that takes place in the 90s. Slow paced and takes place over many years. The plot was about a 7.5 for me, but it has good production and falls under art territory. It was beautifully shot and also the transformations that some of the actors went through were great. Some of them went from healthy to skin and bones to show the effects of poverty and a hard life. I also love how they concluded the drama.
ps. was not expecting the surprise cameo at the end (or in the middle). ♥Award Winning Drama ✔︎

244. GO into Your Heart
Chinese Drama - 2021, 41 episodes
Artificially sweetened fake sports drama. Could possibly land under so bad it's good territory. It was targeted as a middle schooler's romantic fantasy (or at least what the writer thinks is one anyway). It was super cliché and sometimes even cringey cuz of the corniness. 2nd half is a major drag. It was like a Skate into Love reunion. There's many repeat cast from that drama, except for ML and FL.

252. Hospital Playlist Season 2
Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
Conflicted on what to rate this, but ultimately keeping it the same rating as first season. The first half of this season was very strong for me. I think I liked it better than s1. I barely even fast-forwarded and just loved listening to the everyday conversations. The second half got really slow and I ended up fast-forwarding a lot. I was wondering why it got so slow, but then I remembered that this got a 2 episode extension (basically 4 hours). So imo the drama's own popularity hurt it because everyone wanted to please the fans. These episodes in the 2nd half still had some great moments though, so for me this balances out to an 8.
Like I said before, this drama is the closest to reality I've seen of what it's like to work in a hospital....from the ups and downs, to the casual small talk, to joshing each other around, and even the gossip. I really appreciate how they pay attention to the details. That being said, of course there will still be some things that are inaccurate. Here is one example: I'm not sure how healthcare privacy laws work n Korea, but at one point Ik Jun's sister gets admitted to the ER. Jun Wan (who is off duty) hears the news and comes back. He looks at her medical chart and finds out her recent medical history (that she had wanted to keep private). The way healthcare privacy works here is that you can't just look up a patients medical history/chart unless you are in charge of taking care of the patient or it's needed for part of your job. In this case, he wasn't on duty so he had no right to look it up. It's something minor, especially when Ik Jun hinted at him to come back, but I still thought I should point it out.Surgeons ✔︎

Chinese Movie - 2018
Zhang Yimou is known for his use of color, but this turned out to be very dull and wet. I see what he tried to do with the black and white / yin and yang thing, it just didn't captivate me. The story was incredibly slow. I had to watch at 1.25 playback speed. The story got much more interesting in the 2nd half during the epic challenge fight scene. Of course there is gorgeous cinematography even in black and white. This cast also has a ton of my favorite actors and actresses. I just hope Zhang Yimou uses a different color theme next time.

Korean Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
I was expecting more comedy tbh. The intro was so freaking hilarious that it raised my expectations. While there is some good comedic moments throughout the drama, most of the story is sad and depressing due to ML's self esteem issues. His best friend Jennifer is friendship goals. She's clearly my favorite character. Also, I really like how the drama ended.

40% Dance, 60% Play. If you're a fan of variety shows with little kids in them, I would 100% recommend this. These little munchkins are so freaking cute! They are just so pure and have no filter. They don't even fake surprise when the producers plan special events for them. The dance mentors are more like kindergarten teachers ? but you gotta appreciate their patience given the situation.

Nothing exceptional, but still enjoyable. It was a mostly solid school drama for me. 266. The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim
Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
I really enjoyed it. This is basically a 4 hour story that's been split into 12 episodes, but each episode was surprisingly packed with content. This is excluding the 2 minute recap at the beginning of each ep though. I didn't feel like fast forwarding. Also, I guess since it's the season for ghosts right now, I was able to enjoy it more. This is by far my favorite school kdrama of the year. The villain may be corny, but it's a high school drama we're talking about here. This slightly beat Police University for me, but it could be cuz I love supernatural dramas. :P

268. Our Secret
Chinese Drama - 2021, 24 episodes
I've seen my fair share of youth cdramas so this ended up being really boring for me. The school part was basically a cliche deskmates to lovers plot that didn't bring anything new to the table. Wow, that last episode was pretty suspenseful. xD Someone compared this to The Victim's Game, which really raised my expectations. This was still good, but not quite as good. I wanted to love this even more, but I ended up falling asleep a couple times watching it. ^^;; It has a great OST though. Oh, and I almost couldn't recognize Vic Zhou.

270. D.P.
Korean Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Other than the hype, I can see why this has a high rating. I get that this is meant to be more informative rather than entertaining. Really only the last "story" was a good one. The other ones could've been cut short or removed entirely. I was not emotionally invested in them. This drama would've been better suited for a movie format or maybe a 4 episode miniseries instead.

271. My Name
Korean Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
Predictable story, but I really enjoyed it. It started off okay and then it got better. Really loved the action. You might be able to tell from the poster, but this is really bloody and violent, so not for everybody. It's more for k-cinema fans of noir films instead of the usual kdrama audience. That being said, if you like this genre, it's a fun watch even if it doesn't blow you away.

272. Hip Hop King: Nassna Street
Korean Drama - 2019, 6 episodes
Umm, how do I describe this? Have you ever seen Let it Shine? Yes, I'm talking about the Disney Channel movie. xD This is similar with the cheesy, corny, but fun hip hop thing going on. The only annoying thing is that since it's about a high schooler, the story is not complete without bullying. ? The poor rapper thing is also a cliche, but I don't mind it as much. Also, there were like 3 blasian cast members which was refreshing. The quotes at the end of each episode from famous rappers was one of my favorite parts.

273. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
It was a solid 7 until about ep 10 and then it got so draggy and blah. Hence, the rating drop. Definitely an overhyped drama. Gotta love main cast and their dimples though. :)

274. I See Dead People
Thai Drama - 2021, 14 episodes
The story wasn't that interesting for me, nor did I feel the chemistry between these two. The surprise cameo at the end was GREAT. I thought I was seeing things and had to look it up to confirm. xD
-
275. Nakark Kaew
Thai Drama - 2018, 23 episodes
One word: MAKJANG. I rarely do plastic surgery dramas, but this one was actually a juicy melodrama that I could binge. The pacing was pretty decent too. ML is not a total ass either, but I had SLS since episode 1. The unexpected twists were a plus.
-
276. Aoki Vuanpaia no Nayami
Japanese Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
Even vampires are affected by covid shortages. Cute, funny, wholesome, and timely creative. This drama made me smile a lot. Non scarey October themed drama that's relevant to current times.
-
277. The Veil
Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
The plot is like a 7.5 for me. It's got some flaws and if you've seen many spy dramas, it's within predictable range, but IT'S STILL A BETTER NIS DRAMA THAN VAGABOND. The action and suspense kept me hooked and they knew how to tug on my heart strings with the Bourne vibes. I didn't fast forward much for this one.
- Lots of surprised pikachu faces. xD
- Some of the characters could've been written better (more rounded), but ultimately the drama is very plot oriented. -
278. Dark Hole
Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
Sweet Home meets Save Me. It tried to do too many things at once. It's by the same writer as Save Me, so expect to see a lot of social commentary on covid, cults, people on power trips, etc. It shows the darkest sides of humanity. With dramas like this, I'm a logic oriented person and need to know how the "monsters" came about. There really was very little explanation. There were multiple kinds of evil and some of them came out of nowhere. Also, if they were going to make it this dark, they might have added some good jump scares. They did not. Ultimately, I felt bored and disappointed.

279. Lovers of the Red Sky
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Probably 7.5, but I'll let it sit on 7 for now and revisit later. It's a pity. The second half of the finale episode that got uploaded to Viki is missing all of the CGI, but it's there on dramacool version. ?? It's okay, I got a good laugh out of the blue screen.
The first 10 episodes were a 7.5, the last 6 were a 6-7 range.

+ Ahn Hyo Seop's voice. Why did I never notice it before in his previous dramas? Is it because he's in a historical that he's making it seem a lot deeper? Whatever it is, it's working.

280. Two Souls in One
Chinese Drama - 2021, 30 episodes
***NOT FULLY SUBBED (about 80% subbed).
This ended up being an unexpected surprise. I actually really loved it and kind of want to rate it 8/10 . I absolutely do not regret starting this despite the missing subs. It was actually hilarious and the whole gender bender/body swap trope is a classic that usually hits the spot. The plot is pretty standard for this genre, but like I said the comedy is great. The pacing was really good too. Also, don't get me started on the chemistry. The way way ML just looks at her and embraces her *squeal*. (ノ≧∀≦)ノ And I know most dramas have the steamy kiss tag now, but these were top tier for cdramas. xD
CONS:
- dubbed
- maybe slightly draggy and makjang in the last 4-6 episodes, but given the total episode count, the pacing is good. -
281. Hometown
Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
Tbh, this was the only genuinely creepy drama to air this year (at least that I have seen). The others just went for monsters/gore. It kept me guessing throughout. Even after the ending, it left enough room for discussion/theories. 100% would recommend if you're looking for Halloween chills.
- It got a bit slow and repetitive around eps 6-8, but plot progression was good overall.

283. Yumi's Cells
Korean Drama - 2021, 14 episodes
Probably one of my favorites from this year. I had a huge grin plastered on my face like 80% of the time. Just when you think you've seen it all, they introduce a new cell that becomes one of your new favorites. I also really loved the OST. I'm mainly docking points for the annoying stuff, including the aegyo episode. *cringe* It was so bad I had to fast forward through all of that stuff.

This was my Halloween movie watch. It was pretty solid...had a lot of dumb characters though (like horror movies usually do).

286. One the Woman
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
The ending credits song was cute. Hmm, what to say about this drama. It had an interesting concept with the doppelganger thing but It really failed to stand out. The most noteworthy part were Lee Ha Nee and the antagonist for their amazing performances. I love Lee Sang Yoon, but his acting was pretty weak here. He kind of lost his touch and then started to improve later on in the drama.

287. Once We Get Married
Chinese Drama - 2021, 24 episodes
I love contract marriage plots, even cliche ones as this one. This started out as a 7 for me. I can't say it got draggy, but by episode 20 I was over it. This one had a lot of kissing and on screen romance. Some of it was pretty cute and all, but I fast forwarded through a lot of it. ? Sometimes it just felt like it was too much. I'm not sure why this particular contract marriage drama was hyped, but it's okay. ML does carry a suit well. ;)

288. Dali and the Cocky Prince
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Eh, it was alright. I absolutely loved Dali, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the male lead. I do see his positive traits and agree they complemented each other well though. I also wasn't into the plot. The villain was predictable and i dont even know why i bothered to hope they would surprise me. The villain's reasons for his/her actions were kind of contradictory. That whole storyine was kind of cliche and dumb.

289. Bangkok Breaking
Thai Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
Loved the music. This drama was a nice break from lakorns. The plot is unique, though it kind of struck a nerve with me personally because of the way EMTs are depicted here. Weir x Aom was an interesting pairing that I never thought I'd see. I can't say I ship it, but they make it work (also this isn't really a romance so they could get away with it). The plot can make you go wtf. It's sort of crazy and messed up. Wth was up with that Hardcore guy? It just seemed so extreme to me that it was very outside reality. Also, the so called conspiracy was kind of predictable. That being said, production was pretty good.
p.s. It's dark, bloody, and violent. So NSFB. -
290. Risky
Japanese Drama - 2021, 7 episodes
Twisted, dark, has a ton of things on my taboo list. Was watching it for the revenge, which was going smoothly. Something happens and I didn't like it so now I'm disappointed with the turn of events and that ending. Good OST though.

295. The Crowned Clown
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
This was recommended to me via MDL recommendation algorithm, which hasn't had the best track record for me. I think I'm alone in this one when I say, I found this to be very boring. All that palace politics was a snooze fest. Maybe I'm going through a slump. Maybe I just can't stand seeing a bunch of middle aged and old men scheme and make politic decisions anymore. I don't know what it is, but it didn't hold my interest. Also, some parts confused me because this king is supposed to be the 15th king of Joseon, yet his right hand man is talking about Sambong (scholar) like he knew him or something. Anyways, acting was decent and music was EXCELLENT. Too bad I rate primarily on plot.

Japanese Movie - 1964
This is probably the oldest title I've seen on MDL to date. The movie was oddly fascinating. The cinematography was great too. Did not get bored with this being a black and white movie at all. Although, I was not expecting to see nudity in this black and white oldie. Somehow this did not feel dated to me.
