Jimmy Wang
- Name: Jimmy Wang
- Native name: 王羽
- Also Known as: Wang Yu, Wang Zheng Quan, Wang Zhengquan, Wang Yv, Wang Chengchvan, Wang Cheng Chuan, Wang Chengchuan
- Nationality: Taiwanese
- Gender: Male
- Born: March 28, 1943
- Died: April 5, 2022
In addition to acting, Wang directed several films. In 1975, he left Golden Harvest to join independent producer Lo Wei’s company. He eventually retired from the film industry in the 1990s and transitioned to business in Taiwan. Wang returned to the film scene in 2011 with a role in "Wu Xia", though he suffered a stroke from the promotional activities. He recovered and, later that year, co-founded the Taipei Martial Arts Instruction Professional Workers' Union, becoming its first chairman.
He married actress Lin Tsui in 1969, and the couple had three daughters. Their marriage ended in 1975 after accusations of domestic violence from Lin Tsui, while Wang claimed she had changed. Wang later had rumored relationships with actresses Lin Feng Chiao and Tsui Tai Ching. He also revealed in 2011 that he had dated Brigitte Lin in 1967.
In 1978, Wang married flight attendant Wang Kai Chen in a quick wedding in Hawaii. However, after Wang Kai Chen had an affair, they separated. In 1999, Wang confronted her infidelity and demanded compensation in a public legal dispute, resulting in their divorce and Wang receiving 500,000 yuan in compensation.
In 2013, Wang was in a brief relationship with a 40-year-younger Chinese customs officer who was his fan. They planned to marry, but the relationship ended after four months due to the woman’s mother objecting to the age gap.
Wang was also linked to Taiwan's Bamboo Union gang, involved in various violent incidents. In 1981, he was severely injured in a knife attack by members of the Si Hai gang after an altercation with their leader. Later that year, a court hearing in a separate gang-related case turned violent, leading to further legal issues for Wang. He was charged with inciting the violence but was acquitted after a reduced sentence. Wang also claimed in a 2007 interview that he had been approached by the KMT to assassinate a political figure, though the details remain unclear.
In December 2015, Wang collapsed at an airport in Thailand and suffered a stroke, undergoing two emergency surgeries. He passed away on April 5, 2022, at the age of 80.
