Swept off my feet

I wasn't expecting to like this one based on the synopsis alone, but I wanted some more Gong Yoo in my life, so I gave it a chance. Not only did I like it, I lovvvvvved it, and it's easily in my top 5 now. What a delightful story, with a quirky, yet charming female lead, and damnnnnn, Gong Yoo really hasn't aged has he? Their chemistry and story was beyond adorable ...from a fun, engaging friendship, to a straight man questioning his sexuality, to falling in love...I loved everything about their relationship and progression. How this drama handled a man trying to come to terms with being attracted to another man was beautifully done. The humor added was a perfect balance. Sometimes you just have a connection to someone, and you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Only thing keeping this one from being perfection to me was the secondary couple...didn't care for them or their story the moment cheating was involved. The ending was adorable, and it made me so happy to see Eu Chan come into her own woman, style and overall just be true to herself the entire drama.

Mermaid Holy grail

As a massive fan of mermaids and a lover of Lee Min Ho, I couldn’t wait to watch this one. It definitely had a cheese element to it, and I don’t think the chemistry between the leads was a strong as it could be, but I still love this. The story was sweet and innocent, I love the reincarnation flashbacks and intricate details into the lives of all our characters. Jun Ji Hyun plays such a lovely mermaid with such a sweet, doe eyed innocence, I couldn’t help but love her. I adored LMH as Joon Jae. While I didn’t really feel the sparks between these two particular actors the way I have felt sparks with other pairings, I still found their scenes sweet and precious. There was also a solid romance and some truly underrated characters and friendships in this one. There’s definitely some cheesiness and typical fish out of water jokes, but as a mermaid lover I was absolutely adoring it. It reminded me very much of “Splash”, and has made it into my top 5 dramas.

Someone Explain Why This is So Popular

As a major Lee Min Ho stan, I have been putting this off. I get this was his major role that shot him to stardom, and I kind of get it, however that doesn’t make this a good watch. Within the first episode there’s so much bullying of the main female character, it made me borderline uncomfortable that I stopped it at least three separate times. I finally caved and started it for the 4th time, DETERMINED to finish. Think of every cliché and trope of every show ever, roll it all into one, add some bad hairstyles, a mediocre soundtrack, and you have this drama. We have the enemies to lovers cliché, a boring and REDUNDANT love triangle, Overbearing parents, kidnapping, life-threatening snow situations, arranged company marriage, and a main couple that just can’t get it together and has misunderstanding after misunderstanding. Now if I actually believed the chemistry between Lee Min Ho and Gu Hye Seon, maybe I could overlook allllllll that. But Frankly, I don’t know what the leader of F4 sees in Jan Di either. She doesn't deserve him or his devotion. So at this point I’m hate watching it in order to say I saw it and get the badge on my Lee Min Ho jacket. But seriously, do yourself a favor, skip it, and watch “The Heirs” instead. A better, more believable love triangle, better acting, BETTER HAIR, and so much chemistry with between Lee Min Ho and Park Shin, you could start a fire with it.

Expectations were low and I finished within days

I'm a huge KGE fan so I *had* to watch this to see her first drama, and based on other reviews, I went in with super low expectations, thinking I'm going to hate this...and I absolutely loved this. I had no idea how the love triangle was going to end, and I loved both couples chemistry and story. I would have liked more of the history between the boys, but still...super enjoyable story with some novel twists and turns I hadn't seen in a k drama before. Wonderful acting from Park Hae-jin playing a romantic lead with a sinister twist and Seo Kang Joon as a bad boy you want to root for. and I loved Nam Joo hyuk and Park Min ji as adorable side characters who were never unwelcome distractions from the enemies to lovers story here.

What’s the point?

FINISHED.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE POINT OF THIS DRAMA WAS OTHER THAN TO SHOWCASE WHAT A FANTASTIC ACTOR #GONGYOO IS AND HOW HE DOES CLOTHES A FAVOR BY WEARING THEM?
BUT THE STORY?? MEHHHH. From the constant back and forth feelings of the female lead, and ignoring what could have been a great storyline with them being brothers, and we just never know what happened to the doctor...and then Gong Yoo still appearing as KKJ after they switch back...? I obviously have questions. I still rated this better than a 4 because honestly Gong Yoo was fantastic in a comedic role and damnnnnn does oppa look ? in this one...but the story? This could have been like 4-6 episodes shorter.

We all have that guilty pleasure

This one was a slow burn for me (what was the point of those California episodes and the sister storyline?), but damn, I see why it’s a cult favorite. And not because it’ll blow your mind, but because it’s the most addictive piece of crack and at the end you are left asking for more. LMH and PSH really have this sizzle chemistry that you could easily cut into its so thick, and I couldn’t help wanting KWB to try and sneak a little more romance in there and turn this into a legit One Tree Hill love triangle. Because that’s what this is...Korean One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl guilty pleasure goodness. And sometimes you just need a guilty pleasure watch. Especially if the main character is Kim Tan.

Do not get hung up on the age gap, love is love is love

I Finished this masterpiece a couple of weeks ago, and I can’t stop thinking about it. The romance, the bromance, the comedy, the costumes, the jackets, the magic, the chemistry between the entire cast, the plot, the history, The memorable scenes, the beautiful kisses, And an ending that had me thinking about it for weeks. This is 100% worth the watch. Honestly if the music has been a bit better, this would’ve replaced my number one favorite. This is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, no matter the language and no matter the country. I can’t say enough good things about it. I know a lot of people get hung up on the age gap between the main female lead and main male lead, but She starts off the show as a naive, awkward 19 year old and ends the show as a strong, fierce 29-year-old woman....how can you not love a young woman coming into her own strength?! meanwhile he’s supposed to be 900 years mentally, 32 physically, but 18 romance wise. It evens out in my eyes. I say just Indulge in it and let yourself fall in love with them too. And don’t even Get me started on the secondary romance and how precious it is. But let’s be honest the real star of the show is the romance between the goblin and grim reaper. I hope these to do another show together someday.

Tried to be the next Goblin, but didn’t quite get there

I didn’t love this drama, but I didn’t hate it either. It’s ? worth the watch for LHM and KEG alone. Their chemistry was absolutely something special. LMH was charming as usual, and KEG is such a breath of fresh air. The characters were fresh and simple, which I enjoyed, especially a female lead that is fierce and can rescue herself (honestly the rescue scene stopped my heart). The music was beautiful (but too much like the Goblin OST to really be unique imo) but Gravity really did stick out. The Cinematography is gorgeous, and the costumes are really something Spectacular too, especially his. But the wonders really stop there. The plot line is kind of all over the place, which is mostly due to the parallel universe aspect of the show. Lots of storylines don’t really go anywhere, or feature useless characters that you end up forgetting. There is a large cast, but that’s mostly due to the fact that everyone is playing a dual role because of the parallel universe aspect. It gets confusing and that you sometimes don’t remember which universe or world they are supposed to be in right now, especially when it comes to switching around the worlds. The show tried a little too hard to be ingenious, and relied a little too much on the fantasy aspect, meanwhile all I wanted them to do was go back to the main love story. Which getting onto that was kind of rushed, on the female side anyway, but I mean it’s LMH so I get it. Lastly the product placement in this drama took me out of it a lot. I definitely felt at times but the actors were going to turn and wink to the camera they were selling some thing so hard.
