Perfect Example of How to spoil an lovely Adorable story to a uncomfortable drama

The KDrama started with beautiful caring simple yet beautiful and pure concept of a family where kids not related by blood started living emotionally and share there relationship as pure brother and sister till their teens and schooling. This a clearly evidently mentioned many times in starting 6-7 episodes that they share brother and sister emotions and relation. The story was adorable.

But the story started becoming uncomfortable to watch with family when a brother falls in love with his sister and started looking his sister as lover. May be in many countries, regions and cultures this relation is seen as forbidden.

A family exist when their is emotional attachment and caring among the relations, it doesn't matter whether they are blood related or not. How could a brother emotion changes to lovers emotion for his sister? Isn't it a taboo relation? Its a disturbing relationship. Majority will agree it will impact the mindset of brothers and sisters in a family watching this KDrama. The story becomes even sickening when the sister says her brother that she looks him as oppa (big brother) and still weird minded oppa trying to persuade his sister to change the relationship from siblings to lovers by starting it over again.

I don't understand how actors (Hwang In-youp and Jung Chae-Yeon) accepted such forbidden relation concepts? Are they so desperate to make money and agreed to do the Kdrama?

If the story demanded the romantic relation the director of the KDrama should have taken care of the script and should not have mentioned the relation as brother and sister between the two characters right from the beginning, then this would have been one of the all time great KDrama.

First Note of Love But Flat Story

Conceptually, this series ‘sounds’ like a winner. A budding singing duo composed of two likeable brothers. Tragically, one of them dies on the way to a concert site. The other one becomes lost in his own malaise for 5 years. All of that sounds like a great connection story but the sequence of events for them were choppy and insufferably boring. Their relationship looked and felt creepy to me. Even though both were adults, it still felt off. Honestly, I never bought their relationship. Honestly, I was unmoved by this series. I felt little from it. A few good scenes to be sure but nothing sustainable. There was way too much reliance on flashbacks.

One of my favorites

This is by far one of my favorite chinese dramas that i've watched. Great story, great characters, great writing. Only con was some action scenes. But I'm big on story and character development and this is top notch.

Every main and side character was extremely well written and interesting. The characters were anything but 1 tone like 90% of c dramas. Look forward to season 2

Rise of Phoenixes, joy of life season 1 are the only c dramas that compete with this one in my opinion

Must watch period drama

One of the top c dramas there is to watch. It has great characters, with great writing,(til final stretch of episodes) supported by great actors. If you love period pieces this ranks as a must watch. This show was my first introduction to Chinese dramas and because it was so great it made 99% of c dramas unwatchable as they are lacking in every way in comparison.

I find most c dramas have male leads with very little to them besides being 1 tone throughout entire show. Either being complete puppy dogs or total jerks. Only SSS and Joy of Life S1 compare to this show with such diverse personas and well written characters.

Most c dramas struggle from the midpoint on, this show was amazing until the final stretch of episodes. Which in itself is impressive for the number of episodes. But i have to rate based on the entirety, 9.5 stars and with a stronger close it would've been a ten for me

A masterpiece!

One of the best historical C dramas! The cinematography, the story plot, the costumes, props, and of course the acting!! All were amazing! This series I can say is a masterpiece. TSOPG indeed has depth and substance showing combination of romance, drama and also the cultural practice being done during the ancient times (pearl harboring and selling). Been looking for a really good series the past months, I am so glad this was released.

Also, good job to Zhao Lusi for her performance. She was able to portray her character flawlessly. i love her acting, very natural but the emotions are screaming. love it!

Life Lessons Wrapped in a Love Story

This was a pleasant watch for me. To be honest, I expected a cliche romance, but instead got a slice-of-life, family-oriented romance drama. As We Wish isn’t just about love; it’s a look at marriage in all its stages and layers. The show dives into what it takes to keep a relationship healthy and resilient, going beyond just romance to explore loyalty, compromise, and trust. It really shows how loyalty is crucial, not only in marriage but in all relationships.

The way it touches on real issues , from communication breakdowns to handling personal and shared crises – makes it feel grounded and relatable. The characters grow together, offering genuine moments that reflect what couples face in real life. This drama has great rewatch potential, though it’s heavy and lengthy enough that most viewers may find it a one-time journey. But for anyone who’s up for a thoughtful look at relationships, As We Wish offers a memorable watch that leaves you with plenty to think about and apply to your own life.

i personally rated this as a solid 8...

Promising start, poor execution

After watching an emotional rollercoaster like Koisenu Futari, I needed something less serious to give myself the time to recover (one of the best shows I've ever seen.)
At first, I thought Century of Love could be a likable, average Thai BL to distance myself from KF. Boy, was I wrong and right at the same time!

I like the reincarnation trope, but it has to make sense. But the plot didn't make any sense either. Let's break it down.
1- The first 4-5 episodes can't even considered BL, as the drama seems a melting pot of family drama, action-packed scenes with a sprinkle of supernatural and much more.

2- The Mrs. Wad reborn thing: The present-time setting takes place a few weeks before the Goddess's birthday, which means the clock is ticking. San needs to find his long-lost lover to perform the ritual and avoid a horrible death. OK, I get the urgency for suspense and dramatic purposes. BUT.
> San's family doesn't seem to care that time's almost up, living their everyday life, getting a change of heart when the stone is in the villain's hands.
> As soon as Tao points out that Mrs. Wad is back, the family gets into idiot mode; for several episodes, they perpetually ask Tao to redo his calculations because they can't understand who the real Mrs. Wad is. Also, screenwriters couldn't care less about tidying things up, as they didn't ever make clear WHO Mrs. Wad was.
> San's attitude: San gets all grumpy and treats Wee like a broken object just because he has been waiting for his lover for 100 years and can't accept that they might be reborn as a man. Also, for half of the series, San wants to find his lost lover because he loves her and needs her to perform the ritual to save his life. As soon as he realizes he fell in love with Wee, the urge to find Mrs. Wad or use the stone, nothing matters anymore.
> San's condition: It's mentioned that as the Goddess's birthday approaches, the pain San has to endure will increase. In addition, the presence of Wee would benefit San. How? We don't know. There is only one scene where it was shown without explanation.
> Drama for the drama's sake. Most of the drama in the drama shouldn't even be there, but as the characters do not have functioning brains, I see why they inserted these sloppy excuses for getting to the number of episodes they need.

3- Acting-wise, I can't say I'm amazed but neither disappointed. It's my first DaouOffroad drama, so I can't make any comparison to their previous roles. I liked the performance of Offroad, even though it felt too much at times, especially in drama-heavy scenes. Daou's performance felt stiff, which is of the character of San himself, but it felt too much acted.

4- At best, the characters seemed dumb doing what they did.
Why would San and Wee fall for each other? Was Wee Mrs. Wad reborn? What made him so special? I guess we'll never know.

PROS:

- Honestly? None

CONS:

- Lack of characterization;
- Plot holes and poor writing;
- 404: Brain not found;
- The annoying sound effects. I swear-
- Poor CGI: not a major con, but still.

An easily watchable 'family' drama.

I have had a binge of older and modern family drama recently and stands at the top so far of my list, not so much that there anything extraordinary in the charecters but it was all so well done.
I found most of the charecters based on reality, where people to bad things to others in an effort to fill holes in their lives, and sometimes they are not bad people just reacting to their circumstances, which I find in real life often true.
The production values are great, things like set dressing and costume, and acting are natural and realistic.

There were some of the stock family drama charecters, like the MIL, and the 'cheating husband', but it so well written and handles the pressures of modern life on men and women so well I found it relatable. It tackles the issue of domestic violence and control but somehow manages to make the whole drama an easy watch. The roles of the parents and siblings in the family, the internal family resentments, normal and relatable and how often children are often treated diffently in a family by parents, just by lack of throught, or because they are the oldest, middle or youngest.

If I jave gripe it is why do they always make the ex husbannds such selfish monsters, I know in real life many men tend to walk away from relationships, but why does every ex have to be a thoughtless manipulative demon, In this the writing of men was better than most of the c drama I have seen, and for drama you need conflict, but why so extreme? Why does the 'hero' women just have to suck it up, be nice and cope, when even the most placid of us would have been screaming in a locked bathroom.
I think of its type its solid 9

Incredible from every aspect!

By far the best series GMMTV produced for 2024! Words aren't enough to describe how good it was. For starters, we are not talking about a bl, but a show that mainly revolves around the themes of family bonds and friendship. Each episode was unique and a rollercoaster of emotions, that you'd find yourself from laughing to crying in a matter of seconds. By investing on a cleverly written plot and well developed characters, this show never flops or gets boring.

What's more fascinating to watch is that aside from the main cast, who's acting is excellent and their characters so lovable with great chemistry and interactions, you also get to see cameos of many actors that manage to shine just in that small amount of time they are given, portraying very well thought and deep characters with their own past and motives and that's something that many other series struggle to give even to their main characters.

I highly recommend it to everyone! I feel it can touch anyone's heart one way or another, given the variety of stories it offers. Just check it out for yourself and you won't regret it!

TayNew's chemistry is undeniable (but it's more than that)!!!

The series is something which comes with Everything you'll look for. It has comedy, romance, bromance, friendship, betrayal, forgiveness, trauma, family bonding, finding oneself, moving on, finding a home and much more.
(FYI it's the first one which has made me write a review and I've watched over 140 shows as of now.)

This series is close to my heart although at first I was disappointed that it won't be a bl but oh my my! they had this magic which made me hooked.
TayNew please the chemistry is overflowing, I won't lie at times they made me doubt that if it's not a bl, even till the last I saw hope, I guess it's just their magic(I just don't have the words to explain).

But it's just not them, there's a lot more,
The plot is wonderful and new, it's exciting to see a new genre, I guess it's the first time for gmmtv with something like this (could be wrong) .
The plot twists were so unexpected and unpredictable , almost every single one of them took me by surprise(can be just a me thing.) Even without the twists and turns the plot is fairly good.
The characters are well written and by that I mean every single one of them not just main ones. All the actors gave justice to their characters by their wonderful acting the side ones were also too good.

The individual story line given to all the ghosts is something which we rarely see and not to mention they didn't disappoint.
The friendship and the bonding which we see is something which we all relate to, and it was justified no unnecessary drama, just adult people finding and healing themselves and each other.
Every character had their own thing the individual charm, by that I mean is that they didn't overshadow each other but complimented each really well and of course the acting plays the biggest part in that.
Not to mention the emotions they make you feel through screen at times it gets unavoidable to cry.

Well to be honest I lack words about how good it is, but it's something you'll love to watch, and as I said before it has everything you need in a series.

"Smile Code" is a charming romance-comedy TV series that aired in 2024 on Tencent. The story revolves around a down-and-out part-time talk show actress, Gu Yi, and an aloof male audience member, Liang Daiwen, who suffers from alexithymia (difficulty in identifying and expressing emotions). As they get closer, they begin to heal each other and embark on a love journey filled with humor and emotional growth. The chemistry between the main characters, portrayed by Shen Yue and Lin Yi, is captivating, and their journey from strangers to soulmates is both heartwarming and entertaining. The show's light-hearted humor and optimistic tone make it a delightful watch, offering both laughs and valuable life lessons. It's a perfect blend of romance and comedy, with a touch of realism that resonates with viewers.

Swimming Through Emotions and Life Choices

a story of south and north pole couple. in the hustling and bustling world where everyone tryna find a place where they can shine, this story managed to portray all the right emotions. i usually watch series for the plot but the visuals made me squel~ the smile of our baby boy sent butterflies. this is not just a love story of people under the shared house but also a life story. may this drama teach us how to love and how to face problems.

PS. Fujino-san is a matcha guy.

Scooby-Doo, where are you!?

I liked. I liked it a lot. Filled with high jinks both terrorizing and hilarious, Peaceful Property is the ultimate modern take on Ghostbusters.

What started as a small plot to exorcism turned into this grand adventure between this complete lovable group of friends! These ghost hunters is Everything! First of all, they're hilarious, with banter and quips that you can't get enough of. Second, they have their ups and downs that make it all seem so human! Third, their friendship is just so real and sincere! And fourth, they stick together, work together and ... I mean, they do their first spooky investigation together. I want to join!!! Fifth, this show hosts such a diverse cast of characters that is just so necessary and heartwarming to see! The characters are well-developed, and despite the whirlwind of events, it’s easy to get caught up in their stories.
What I loved most about this series was is the way it keeps you so engaged the entire time! Seriously, there's never a dull moment! Each episode is packed with action, suspense, and enough twists to make your head spin. There isn't ever a lull.

This was such a thrill from start to finish, like I couldn’t put it down!
