It’s been a solid period of time since I decided to allow this confused mess of a drama sink into my nerves, and seeing how the reviews are scarce in number, I thought I’d give potential viewers a rather large piece of my mind.

If you’re here and considering watching this, I’ll assume that you at least somewhat enjoyed the show to which this is a sequel. Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me sits somewhat high on my rom-com list despite being littered with Asian drama tropes (my favorite of which has to be "cohabiting rich guy and poor girl who refuses to take his crap but sometimes takes his crap anyway because dramaland"). It was youthful, cliched, yet endearing.

This sequel, though, was absolutely terrible in comparison.

There are cliches like in the prequel, which the writers delivered as cute and gave you some giggles. And then there are cliches like in this one, which will have you laughing psychotically as you sharpen your metaphorical knives and prepare to hunt down the people who turned the plot into absolute - for lack of a better word - horseshit.

It’s important to compare this sequel with its predecessor because it is a direct continuation from where MDDNKM left off. There are many problems to be resolved, particularly the one where the relationship between the two main characters remains very ambiguous. Yet, frustratingly, the second season never delivers satisfying closure to any of the questions you may have and instead piles on dilemma after dilemma that don’t serve any real purpose other than pissing you off.

If you have disdain for any of the following cliches (contains spoilers; but who’re we kidding, this show isn’t worth watching anyway): lying ex-girlfriends, clingy third wheels latching onto the male and female main characters, a lead couple whose most effective form of communication is giving one another the cold shoulder, ridiculous birth secrets, "the girl you like is actually blood related to you", etc.; ditch this drama now. It’s pathetic how bad this all became. Every single episode of this show became the longest 20 minutes of my life and I just about wished that I would spontaneously have responsibilities to attend to so I’d be put out of the misery of sitting through them.

The acting is okay. I liked the actors way more in the first season; which might have had something to with the characters’ quirks. Some aspects of them were endearing in the first season, but rapidly became extremely annoying in this one. See reference: Qi Lu deciding that every single time Chu Xia gets pissy with him, he’ll call her stupid or some other variation instead of asking “what did I do” like any normal human being would. Gets old when it happens every episode for 20 straight episodes, boy.

Also, I’d like to mention that the editors confused the hell out of me. Why on earth would you play fun, happy background music during a scene in which two antagonists are plotting how to get rid of their rival? Whenever this happened, I half-expected a squirrel to jump out and maul them or something else that would be entertaining, but nope. It would just be a possibly suspenseful scene, ruined by a playful little jingle in the background. It seriously ruins the mood.

In a way, I consider it intelligent that none of this content was included in the first season. The quality falls so short that it’d be a real shame to drag down the fun of the first season with this trash.

tl;dr: did the director hit his head during production and decide to continue being the director?

Ok lemme get this straight. I LOVED this drama.
I don't understand how anyone can start it thinking it's going to be a heavy, drama-filled series, which requires an important emotional involvement from the viewer. It's not; if that isn't clear by the plot summary, then it should be by the end of the first episode.
This show is full of imperfections that make it perfect. In fact, I completely disregarded those multiple small flaws because they naturally flowed with the story. There were no "wait - what ?" moments. Unlike many viewers, I never thought of banging my head on my keyboard because of incomprehension. I think those people think too much. There are dramas that simply don't require you to think about anything while watching them. "Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me" is one of those dramas.
It IS cliché-filled, but you can get that from the summary. Basically yet another Itazura na Kiss x Boys over Flowers adaptation.
The mood here however is different. First, because it's Chinese: it's a whole other culture. Second, because the episodes are short. A lot of things are bound to happen in a short span of time; we might leave an episode with X event and resume with an event Y, while only just lightly bushing the precedent subject.
Some cuts are really unprofessional and too obvious. But it takes nothing from the enjoyment away. The female lead is super cute, and, believe it or not, refreshing. She's not easily swayed by her lovers or feelings, she's cute without being over the top or too girly, and stands up for her values.

As for the so-called "chauvinism" and "sexism" in this drama.. I don't know what the people who said that are doing on this site ?? Violent hand grabbing, "you're mine" lines and such are an entire aspect of most Korean dramas and many other asian dramas. There IS a traditional conservative view of women. It's China after all. Personally, I've been more shocked throughout my life here in the West with the treatment of women, who are constantly over-sexualized in the media and society, than in China (from my limited view in dramas) At least they don't resort to stripping down a woman to get high audience rates ;-))

To conclude, an excellent (and by excellent, again, I don't mean it's perfect or flawless, just really good for what it is -) light drama, that I will most likely rewatch because it's fun and not too complicated to help with my learning and understanding of Chinese, along with the likes of dramas like Shopping King Louis or Sassy Go Go.

The story so far already had sexism everywhere, yet it was somehow bearable. Then, I started watching the second season and it was... terrible. As a woman I tried to empathize with the female lead feelings and when I did... Damn. I could have killed someone.

The rich male lead is an egoistic bastard who thinks of women as possessions. He doesn't trust Chuxia, not even tries, to be honest. the other characters are all bland and the storyline gets worse as it moves on.

Guys, if you are looking for a show with a male chauvinist lead and nothing but the same old and worn out cliches, this is it.

Well, at least it was better than the first? But still just meh. At the end of season one, Chu Xia had been tricked during her college's campus beauty contest and was kidnapped, while a familiar face is introduced this season, Han Qi Lu's ex, Xiang Man Kui. This season, Chu Xia is finally comfortable in her own skin and knows her worth, and has no time for BS. Han Qi Lu now struggles this season know that he knows he likes Chu Xia and finally knows he has to put in an effort to try to win her over (none of this random confession bull in the middle of arguments) as well as trying to figure out his feelings for Xiang Man Kui. I did enjoy in this one that he always knew that he liked Chu Xia, and only wanted Xiang Man Kui is just a friend (after Chu Xia told him that it wasn't healthy to hold a grudge against her), but I also hated that Han Qi Lu was ignorant of the fact of how Chu Xia might feel about his relationship with her. I mean Han Qi Lu is just an oblivious guy so I didn't expect much from him, which is why he was so low on my "suitor" list in my last review, but I thought he was have a little common sense. Chu Xia is a nice girl who puts everyone's happiness in front of her own - When Xiang Man Kui came back, she saw how much she was struggling and how she used to be in Chu Xia's shoes, the Han family taking care of her when her family died. She struggled with not wanting to help Xiang Man Kui, afraid that Han Qi Lu and her would rekindle their romance, but knowing that she couldn't be selfish. But I also don't blame Chu Xia for being in a terrible way - Han Qi Lu gave her ZERO confirmation that him and he was not into Xiang Man Kui. To me, it is like if some guy tells me they like me, but out of nowhere their first love comes back and they start hanging out at school and after school and they start to extend invites to me to hangout with them and during those hangouts, they treat you like a third wheel. Then the guy getting mad at me, when I start to decline hangouts. But the one thing I hated to most, was when people confronted Han Qi Lu about it and asked who he liked, and he couldn't answer. If you can't answer that simple question, you have no right to get mad at Chu Xia for not wanting to be on a threesome date and wanting to hangout with her friends. Regardless if she is hanging out with other guys, at least she had the audacity to tell them that she didn't like them and that they were only friends. It wasn't fair for Chu Xia always having to explain herself and go out of her way to tell Han Qi Lu not to worry because she didn't like people more than friends, but he couldn't do the same for her.

Also, I think I am also a little bias because I am not a fan of the actress who plays Xiang Man Kui, Yang Zhi Ying. And it is nothing personal against her. I just feel that she pops out of nowhere in dramas I watch, and I just dislike her characters. In The Brightest Star In The Sky, she played Kexin, who just did not get a clue when Boxu did not like her, but she still bothered him acting like she was going to get a proposal. Then against in My Amazing Boyfriend 2, Bai Lu, being this emotionless character who was obviously a spy for an organization that was bad news, and knew about it, but played along because she was in love with the organizer. Yes, she always seems to redeem herself at the end, including this one, but I hated the journey to get there. In this drama, in the first season, she seemed like the perfect girlfriend to Han Qi Lu, until the day she just disappeared on him, but in this season we learn a lot more about her and about her departure. We also learn that she is willing to do anything to get Han Qi Lu back into her life.

Even though I said that this drama was the better than the first, I gave it the same review because of the ending. Not to spoil anything, but I would like to let everyone know what they are getting into before they watch this. If you want to watch 2 seasons, 23 eps a piece, around 20-25 minutes long, about a boy and a girl finally admitting to one another that they like one another, than this is for you. No, "I love you" or "I want to be with you forever" or "marry me?" Nope, just a "I like you," and then end credits. Like....really? cool. So now what? Everything that caused issues in the beginning of the ep haven't been solved. Also, the reason to chase after her at the end was because you found out that she made a deal to save your family from bankruptcy...like she hadn't been helping you with the issue in little ways throughout season two. Did you not...care? Side note, one of the things I hated about Han Qi Lu is how he ALWAYS went to Xiang Man Kui when he needed help with his family business or he just needed someone to hangout with or talk to, but got mad when Chu Xia didn't go to him for the same thing. Such a double standard, there is no way I would have fallen in love with Han Qi Lu.

But I would have to change my list now. I mean for obvious reasons too without spoiling anything. Honestly, the only two people that could be on my list are Han Qi Lu and Ling Han Yu. I do love Feng Shao, but he made it 100% clear that he was completely over Chu Xia when he started to date another girl in season one, and seems head over heels for her even though we only see her in random scenes. It also seemed that Han Qi Lu's only competition this season would be Jiang Chen Chuan, but for obvious reasons, that would never work out. Honestly, poor Jiang Chen Chuan. He was head over heels for Chu Xia, and would have made a much better boyfriend, but that is a bridge that could never morally be crossed. Such a weird twist. Wasn't expecting it at all. As for Ling Han Yu, he kind of disappeared this season, but when he was around, he had completely accepted the fact that Chu Xia would not chose him and would try to help out his boy Han Qi Lu and Chu Xia be together. Such a homie, and more of a dreamboat than Han Qi Lu.

This drama was needed though. After watching so many dramas, I have found patterns and differences between Chinese, Korean, and Taiwanese dramas as well as the big budget dramas vs webdramas. I am sure that there are so much different genres in this drama universe as well, but I have found little charms in each of these sub genres and a webdrama is always a great cure after a big budget.

Would I rewatch this drama? Nah. Would I recommend it? Probably not. Was it needed as a simple and cute filler drama? Yea.

I only decided to write one review for this series since Season Two is a straight continuation of Season One. An Chu Xia and Han Qi Lu are static and dynamic at the same time. As their relationship progresses from strangers that had a twist of fate meeting to something more, I found myself getting slightly addicting to this drama, just to see the ending (but more on that later on, if you want spoilers). I will admit the story is a bit bland and one noted, if not kind of messy, but it's still a decent plot that you can follow. The development is plotted more clearly towards the end of Season One and it's a bit more thought out throughout Season Two. I do find myself wishing they had a more in-depth explanation for things, where I do feel the ending was slightly rushed to this series because of that. Overall, it's a lighthearted romance that has points of humor and lots of drama and snakes (you have been warned about the snakes!). If you're like myself, you'll find a major dislike towards certain characters, even the main leads at times, but you'll probably enjoy it. The 46 episodes in total as a whole are better when compared to certain episodes and moments. Chu Xia is a character that really draws you in, because you never know her thoughts at times but you can read her like an open book the other times. Qi Lu is also quite the common cold-hearted boy that's had a grudge due to past experience, which is also what makes his character unbearable at times. The side characters are expressive throughout the series which is something I enjoyed more than usual. It's cute, nice, and definitely new to my taste in a way.

! Now, for the things I didn't like. Note, there WILL be spoilers: !

! You have been warned !

1. Han Qi Lu is insufferable due to  his trauma from Man Kui and it's honestly the reason that this drama kinda of dragged on, he's constantly acting in this personality of not really showing his feelings but also showing them in the wrong way, which is how Chu Xia interprets them half of the time. So, hate the character slightly, but not that much cause he has underlying good intentions.

2. Man Kui. Where to start? She's so manipulative you want to punch her in the face, even with the fact that her whole reason for coming back for the boy she left without thought is that her right hand is no longer able to perform. She's a TRUE SNAKE, on par with Xin Wei, that's for sure. Her actions are so easily overlooked because of Qi Lu's softness for her (?) I guess you could say? I think it's more of him still having slight feelings for her, but that's just how I saw it. Her character evens out in the end, but only after a lot of dragging on the series due to misconceptions.

3. Chu Xia and Qi Lu deserved a better ending in my opinion. The ending to this series wasn't fulfilling, and was more of a "up to your imagination" type of ending, which is the kind I mainly stray away from. It left a slightly bitter note for me since I was anticipating an ending that explained a lot more about what happened, and not just for them, but for the side characters also. I want to know if Xiao Nan got together with Chen Chuan, if Han Yu found someone, and whether or not Chu Xia and Qi Lu were able to stand the test of time and how their relationship was.

4. My final note on this drama is that I wish they properly started it. The first few episodes nearly discouraged me from continuing on with the drama (even though I pulled through) and was quite hard for me to understand. You're going from one minute where there's a fake hostage crisis to Chu Xia's mother dying and giving her organ(s) to the father of Qi Lu. This all leads to the set up of the story which I naturally understood, but the manner of the execution could've been improved in my opinion.

My finger has cramps from skipping all the fillers

"Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me 2" it's pretty much the continuation of the first season. I was actually waiting for some improvement when it comes to the filler episodes and that was a disappointment. The ending was disappointing.

Is it a very bad drama? It's not but not worth it in my honest opinion. There was room for improvement when it comes to acting and story plot. For example, the sexist and bastard male lead, which thinks that he's the best and that his word is the law. Just because you're rich doesn't mean you can treat people like shit.

Just so so.. hve to skip many boring part!

I honestly love tragedy, sadness , love triangle, jealousy, persuasion for love and these all things are cliche.
Most of cdramas have basically same kind of plot. One girl persuaded by 2 or 3 boys. The girl loves one but the one hates the girl, or ignore her every time. But after appearing another boy, he started to love the girl. The other boy helped her by giving his life, but at the end the girl choose the bad guy over the good guyz . The other boy finding another women. After that they happily live their life.
I honestly dont like the season two because there is no login what’s happening with the characters! The main role’s ex girlfriend suddenly came into hin life an then most of the time he forgot about his current beloved. Suddenly she has became more and more important and he ignores his beloved for his ex. But after that his girl did nothing , not even ask a question about their relationship. If it was me.. I would definitely hate the guy or kill d girl. So annoying. Sometimes it was cute and sweet, little bit if romantic and the jealousy part was best. Buttttt I justtt dont get that how a girl can be that stupid to forgive his boyfriend after watching he is hugging his ex girlfriend, wipe out oil from her face, depending her but not thinking about his present lover or holding her hand like that.It was so disappointing that she forgives everything what her lover has done to her, she cant even asked a single question. How does anyone forget everything tht easily? And the last part was, there is no happy ending I mean ending of this drama. It is terrible😖
It’s worthless to watching! You can’t even understand 1 episode of next season. There is no link in every incident .

Season 1 and 2 of this show are basically what you call drama fillers, you have nothing else to watch or you're bored so you use it to kill time. They're not terrible, there's an awesome playful kiss feel and I like the actor and actress; but am I mind blown? I am not. It's truly not a terrible show, there is so much going on a majority of the time, it's kind of whatever and the characters kind of look like babies which in reality they are lol. But if you're looking for something to kill the time, I'd definitely watch this show.

I really liked this drama "Master devil do not kiss me" from season 1 to season 2 and the reason why I liked this is especially because of the characters, ost's and the flow of the story. Everytime there is drama scene, I cant help but also to cry hahahah. I really love this series!! I hope there is season 3 pls!! I really love it and I just finished it today and now I cant help but to miss it. I love all the characters especially Li Hong Yi aka Han Qi Lu. He is so handsome!! and to know that he is still young at 19 years old, I can say that he is really a good actor indeed!! Wo ai ni han qi lu!!!

The Stakes Are Higher, The Drama Is Deeper, and the Love Is Ever More Intense!

If you thought Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me was intense in the first season, then brace yourself for Season 2—this season takes everything to a whole new level. The stakes are higher, the emotions deeper, and the romance? Well, it’s even more sizzling, thanks to a complex web of power struggles, personal growth, and life-altering decisions.

The second season picks up after the initial emotional rollercoaster of Season 1, but now the pressure on Qi Lu and An Chu Xia is more intense than ever. With family politics, high-stakes business dilemmas, and expectations looming over them, their relationship is forced to mature much faster than either of them might have anticipated. One thing is clear from the get-go: both Qi Lu and Chu Xia are no longer the same characters we saw in the first season. They’ve grown, matured, and are dealing with more serious stakes.

For Qi Lu, Season 2 delves much deeper into his personal trauma. His past continues to haunt him, and we start to see how his own fears of inadequacy and family loyalty create barriers in his relationship with An Chu Xia. The scenes where he tries to protect her but ends up pushing her away are heartbreaking. You get to witness his emotional transformation, and it’s impossible not to feel for him. The emotional tug-of-war between his protective instincts and his romantic feelings for her is exquisite.

An Chu Xia, on the other hand, becomes even more self-assured in this season. While she is still deeply in love with Qi Lu, she also begins to realize her own worth and independence. She’s no longer just the sweet, obedient girl from Season 1—she’s assertive, brave, and ready to face whatever life throws her way. I absolutely loved how her character arc expanded in Season 2, showing that she’s much more than just a love interest. She’s a force to be reckoned with. BOOM!

The chemistry between Qi Lu and An Chu Xia remains undeniable, and you’ll feel every single emotional beat as they navigate obstacles in both their personal and professional lives. Their love story is filled with tension, but it’s also beautiful, thanks to their emotional maturity and mutual respect. Swoosh—the kisses, the stolen moments, the protective gestures—they all feel even more significant because both characters have grown up.

The supporting cast also continues to play a crucial role in this season. The family dynamics in Season 2 are particularly compelling—especially with Qi Lu’s family and the pressure they put on him to meet their expectations. The drama brings in plenty of twists, turns, and conflicts that keep you at the edge of your seat.

Pros:

Increased emotional depth and personal stakes for the characters.
Excellent character development—especially for An Chu Xia.
The romance is hotter and more mature, with better pacing.
Engaging family dynamics and corporate drama.
Cons:

Some side plots could have been expanded or given more screen time.
Slightly predictable towards the end, but the emotional payoff is worth it.
Verdict: Season 2 of Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me takes the show to a more mature and emotional level, diving deeper into the complexities of both the romance and the characters’ lives. If you loved the tension in Season 1, you'll be even more hooked as the couple faces even greater challenges. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys high-stakes romance mixed with personal and professional growth.

I'm big on asian dramas and I've seen my fair share in the past years but this is the first one I've had with a disappointing and short ending. The male lead really makes you wanna rip your hair out in season 2 (around ep 11 and after). The ending is purely just him saying he likes her, which he has said before so like what next? I guess that's what season 3 was for but it won't feel the same with different leads. A bit more romance and a lot less eccentric male lead would've been a big booster.
