An instant classic
Every visual, every half-frame sweeps you up in 'I Told Sunset About You'. Stellar script, direction. The two male leads were so mature in their approach to their roles. I have to single out the technical crew of this show - the DOP, lighting department, sound team, set and clothing professionals, brilliant...the right shades of blue; whether in the sea, a shirt or a carpet on the floor. The instant change in mood because of the camera work, the 90's canto vibe brought about by colour treatment and production, this Thai show is in every manner and form - exemplary.Heightened situations which humans go through when transitioning from high school to university, adolescence to full blown puberty, breaking through the all encompassing vice-like grip that heteronormative society has one in - it's all been dealt with so much sensitivity, intelligence and bravery. LOVE!

If we have set apart by time, I'm pleased to wait
When I watched this series I had no idea what it was about.I was pulled simply by the title itself and glad to say it did not disappoint.
The series was masterful. In 5 episodes, I felt the same feeling and satisfaction I had when watching a full 13 or so episodes of other series. Needless to say, I loved it. So much. I have watched many coming of age series, many with LGBTQ+ themes, family themes and friendship themes, but nothing was as masterfully portrayed as this.
What sets ITSAY apart is that it mastered the show not tell aspect of story telling. Where continuity mattered, and where every scene had a reason. Each character did not need a special arc to understand their personalities, and yet you understand the depth of their person. Same goes with the main actors who acted very well, and showed how it is to struggle discovering aspects of yourself during youth.
You make mistakes, you act recklessly, you take things for granted but at the end of the day you discover that things go beyond yourself. You have support and you have love. We learn that as naïve, and as scared as the main characters were navigating their lives, they were able to mature. It was beautiful, so human, so real.
I am glad I decided to watch this series. Aside from the plot and characters, you get to see how beautiful Phuket Thailand is, and the cultural practices they have. Which I find important as well, to understand the persons involved, your setting plays a large part in creating the right atmosphere for it. That, and the OST added to the already beautiful art that is this series.
I sometimes wonder if I would ever be able to watch something like this again. Where it left me satisfied and filled with emotions. Maybe it will come soon, maybe it will come in the form of ITSAY part 2. I'm not sure yet, but one thing is definitely certain, ITSAY is worth the watch.

Masterpiece
Everything about it is well done: direction, production, costumes, music, acting and more. This actually got me some Call Me by Your Name vibes for the whole concept of indie gays at the beach with piano in the background. I love the way they mix mandarin with they're romance, relating the chinese symbols with they're relationship and it even made me wanna learn the language cause what they did is fascinating. The only disturbing thing is that Billkin is such an ugly crier, not only his face is bad when he cries but the sounds he make lmaoWas this review helpful to you?
perfect
if you don't like this, why? what does it lack? I don't get why this bl is considered overrated by some people? its actually super well made. it has everything you need made in a very artistic way.its not only focusing on love and romance and coming out of age but also LGBTQ problems made in a very subtle way. I love the amount of chemistry and have tension in every scene. it doesn't seem like it was heavily funded in production but that didn't stop it from being one of the greatest bls I have ever seen.
I still remember that scene when they were sitting in teh's room and teh is like massaging oh-aew's back like I just watched it last night. the amount of tension I still feel to that day. it's amazing really.
you definitely should watch because you're missing out.

Don't worry, it's not sad 100% of the time
It took my a long time to finally watch ITSAY because I’ve heard time and time again how sad it was. It’s sad but I was not balling my eyes out, and that’s perfectly fine.In a show with few characters and places, like this one, the main characters need to have chemistry. In terms of chemistry, the bar has been raised after ITSAY. Billkin and PP work together beautifully. Yeah, they’ve known each other for years and have worked together before, but have other actors and the result was not on that level. In some moments, I felt like Teh’s crying was a bit too much, but he’s a high school students going through difficult times. Was the story super surprising? No. As soon as we find out Oh is the first person in the waiting list, I knew Teh would give up his spot. I know that the second part only works as a immediate follow up to ITSAY, but this is a rare case where I’d be OK with a 1 year time jump, so Teh could go to this top pic university. I think it would still work out with the theme of living with your choices.
As part of the BKPP Project, the actual show was very well planned, and it shows. The merch is integrated in the scenes, without looking like an obvious push to sell stuff. The music is also an integral part of the story, and it perfectly complements the story, visual and acting. With the BKPP Project in mind, watching the documentary was important to understand a few elements.

I loved Teh and the cinematography was perfect
I related to Teh very much which is why I liked his character. However, after seeing a small spoiler for the sequel I will most likely not be watching it because I don't want the image of him that I relate to so much to be tarnished in my mind.I felt Teh was relatable to me bc it seemed as if he didn't have a strong support system after Oh and him stopped being friends - if you think about it, how many friends did he have that he could talk to about really personal stuff? He didn't - although Tarn and him hung out they didn't really talk bc they were both busy studying in their own lives. This is why I understood his jealousy toward Oh and anytime he paid attention to others. This is also why I predicted that his jealousy and feelings could get mixed together bc he might not be able to distinguish between love and friendship and would therefore have the possibility of falling in love with someone else in the future and after reading the synopsis of the sequel I was right - however, forming feelings for someone unexpectedly bc you have a better handle of emotions is differently than cheating which is why I am hesitate to watch the sequel.

a piece of art
So, this series completely swept me off my feet. It really impressed me, because I was used to boy loves not having the best quality or pretty shots at all. This series was very visually stunning, and the use of color to represent Teh, Ohaew, and the girl character (can't recall her name atm) was really cool. It feels like every time I've rewatched I've been able to catch onto more symbolism or things I didn't catch the first time I was around. The characters and the storyline felt very REAL which I appreciated. Watching through Teh's eyes gave a lot of frustration towards him but I couldn't dislike him, because I understand why he was acting like that. The confliction between his growing feelings and realization of his sexuality, versus his fears of coming out and not being considered "normal" in the eyes of those around him was portrayed very well. It also goes to show when we are coming to terms with ourselves and having our own self discovery that we can oftentimes be destructive and hurt those around us. It also showed us hints of the opposite side of the spectrum, someone like Ohaew who wanted to be out AND loved openly. This series is just so beautiful, but is pretty angst heavy. Was this review helpful to you?
A WORK OF ART.
It has been three weeks since I completed watching I Told Sunset About You and yet, I cannot move on. I find myself returning to rewatch each episode and listening to the OST on rewind. This story is unforgettable. The very definition of perfection.STORY
ITSAY is in essence incredibly simple, but the emotions it presents and explores are wonderfully complex. There is meaning to every little bit of detail you witness, the use of metaphors and symbolism in the story is truly breathtaking (from the red flowers, to the flashcards, to the scent of coconuts, the colors, the tattered book, right down to the design on Tae's carpet). Tae and Oh's relationship truly captures what it is to be a young, confused teenager, overwhelmed and fumbling in the dark as they explore the difficult path of growing up. It's much more than a beautiful love story, and to say it is an excellent BL would be an understatement. This story redefined the genre, broke through its borderlines and proved to be a thought provoking masterpiece, not just within the LGBTQ+ genre, but across all genres and countries as a whole.
ACTING/CAST
The actors did a phenomenal job! The chemistry was off the charts and what was truly surprising to me was that the characters themselves did not have excessive dialogue. They didn't need to. Subtlety was a tool well used in this show, and I found the most powerful scenes to be the ones where nothing needed to be said, for their emotions spoke loud enough. There was nothing, absolutely NOTHING that could've been done differently, that would have made this any more unforgettable.
MUSIC
The OST is incredible; I have been addicted to the songs for far too long (even a restaurant here in Sydney was playing it when I passed by and it made me so happy!). Every line in every song was written with meaning, and was used so effectively as a tool to make its scene so much more powerful.
ITSAY is a work of art! If you haven't seen it, pls go watch it! Stories like this need to be seen and heard, and its creators acknowledged and appreciated for the artistic PERFECTION that they have managed to create. What a time to be alive!

REALITY IS SAD! And anyone reading this, a CMBYN fan or not, YOU BETTER WATCH THIS!!
Story: 9/10I've never seen a series more relatable than this. The hardship of Oh and Teh, could relate to both of them, being gay myself and having a same kind of love story at school(though our ending was different from Oh and Teh's. But 9 out of 10, because the first episode, it was a bit slow, and also it could have shown homophobia which is very prominent in high schools across the world. But, yes, that really doesn't matter. I repeat, YOU BETTER WATCH THIS!!!! YOU WON'T REGRET I PROMISE!!!!
Acting: 10/10
Acting is SO RAW!! SO REAL!! Was it acting or some real story, documentary of PP And Billkin?! The last 4 episodes, I kept crying and crying and crying, and other than soundtrack, the main catalyst was acting. You'll fee their pain, their happiness, their sadness, everything. Also the support actors were also really really good!! GO AND WATCH THIS!! YOU WON'T REGRET!!!
Music: 10/10
Go to youtube and search for SKYLINE OST. Yes, the music and the lyrics and everything is st their best, everything is so perfect. I bet you'll add those songs on your spotify liked songs and some other playlists.
Rewatch value: 10/10
Yes, I've seen this series twice already, and I didn't even care to think, why I'm seeing this series again after only two weeks!! Cause you'll feel so attached to the characters and the story and the music and everything, you'll also probably come to see it again, if not two weeks, then two months, or two years, BUT YOU'LL COME BACK <3
Overall: 10/10
Did you like CMBYN(CALL ME BY YOUR NAME)? Then you should watch this, if not, then also you should watch this. So don't waste your time and GO AND WATCH IT before it is latee :)

Heartwarming, Beautiful, Emotional
An incredible Series - One of my all-time favorites. The storyline is unique and very well done, the characters are perfect - everything about this series is actually perfect, nothing to complain about.
This series is sure to touch your heart, I cannot imagine anyone not being moved by it. Although there are only five episodes, there are no distractions, and the entire series runs smoothly from start to finish. The scenery is beautiful as well. The directors, actors, photographers, everyone did an outstanding job.
The rewatch value is high - I am sure I will watch this series again. Also - it gets even better because the series "I Promised You The Moon" is the second season AND is even better in my opinion. Enjoy!

Freaking Masterpiece!!
I finally caved in & watched it.WOW! And that is short for Wow Oh Wow!!
This drama is absolutely beautiful. Everything about it is just perfection. The acting, the directing, the cinematography. I usually write reviews only for shows that I consider the cream of the crop & this my dear fellows is one of those. I watched it in one sitting.
One can tell that a lot of thought & work went into the show & it paid off well! Let me tell you I have watched my fair share of BL shows (well, maybe so much more than my fair share) & this one is different from the rest & it's a good kind of 'different'
The show does not rely on the typical tropes that we so often see on BLs. Just amazing storyline, beautiful characters & top notch acting. The love between Teh & Oh was so wonderfully portrayed, beautiful pure unadulterated love! It was one hell of a rollercoaster ride - heartbreakingly beautiful.
The acting is so unbelievably awesome! The crying scenes are so realistic (snots & all) & they are some of my favourite scenes in the show. And I've found a new weakness & that is Oh's crying face. I can't.. Everytime I see that face, I just wanna give him the biggest hug ever. These dudes can act!! They deserve awards for those portrayals man, seriously!!
Every character is so beautifully written, casted & portrayed.
It will be difficult to find another series with such great storyline, amazing chemistry, beautiful cinematography & out of the world acting. Usually you get one or the other with BLs but this one has it all. Maybe we might get to see the same level of perfection with its season 2. I can't wait to see how that plays out. Excited to see Oh & Teh's relationship in the 'boyfriends' stage. They have been through hell to get there & to see them bask in that stage would be so wonderfully exciting.
I cannot wait to see season 2 now!
